Enrichment

Get a company's funding from its domain

Total raised, last round and lead investors in one call. 1 record per company found. A miss costs nothing.

What you get

Funding is one block inside the company record, not a separate endpoint. Send a domain and you get company_data.company_funding with the rest of leadocean.company.v1. Values we do not hold come back as null, never guessed.

FieldWhat it isExample
company_funding.total_raised_usdTotal raised, in USD42000000
company_funding.last_round_typeType of the most recent round"Series B"
company_funding.last_round_dateDate of that round"2025-06-12"
company_funding.last_round_yearYear of that round2025
company_funding.lead_investors[]Lead investor names"Acme Ventures"
company_data.company_employeesHeadcount and size band, to size the round240, "201-500"
company_data.company_profileFounded date, ownership type, publicly traded"2014"

Examples are placeholders. The docs say funding is held for a small fraction of companies and that absent is the normal case, not an error. Treat it as a signal to enrich, not a field to require.

What you send

InputRequiredNote
domainOne of the twoWebsite domain, for example acme.com. Preferred key.
linkedin_urlOne of the twoLinkedIn company page URL.

There is no lookup by company name. To find companies by funding instead, search companies with fundingType, maxFunding, minLastFundingYear, maxLastFundingYear or investors. fundingType takes 23 values, from Pre seed and Seed to Series A, Series E-J, Grant and Debt financing.

Three ways to run it

In the app

Funding is not an export column. The Exports page at app.leadocean.io exports people, and its columns cover each person's current company (name, domain, industry, size) but no funding. Use the API or an agent.

With the API

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/companies/enrich" \
  -H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
  -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{"domain":"acme.com"}'

This is the docs sample, trimmed. Fields we hold nothing for are omitted there for brevity. In a real response they are present and null.

json
{
  "success": true,
  "data": {
    "company_data": {
      "company_name": "Acme",
      "company_domain": "acme.com",
      "company_type": "Privately Held",
      "company_employees": {
        "number_of_employees": 240,
        "number_of_employees_code": "201-500"
      },
      "company_profile": { "date_founded": "2014", "publicly_traded": false }
    },
    "company_metrics": { "completion_score": 94, "marketability_score": 81 },
    "meta": { "sources": ["own"], "schema": "leadocean.company.v1" }
  },
  "meta": { "credits": 1, "source": "own" }
}

The docs sample has no company_funding block because funding is held for a small fraction of companies and absent is the normal case. The docs list the block's fields as total_raised_usd, last_round_type, last_round_date, last_round_year and lead_investors[] (LeadOcean company docs, October 2026). The full walkthrough is in Company funding over the API.

From an AI agent

The MCP tool is leadocean_get_company. It takes domain or linkedin_url. Try the prompt "Look up acme.com and tell me how much they have raised, the last round type and who led it". Then, for account lists by funding stage, use leadocean_search_companies. More in Company funding over MCP.

What it costs

One company lookup is 1 record, by domain or LinkedIn URL. A 404, where we hold nothing for that company, costs nothing. Rejected requests (429, 402, 503) are never metered.

A found company costs 1 record even when its funding block is empty, because you are charged for the record you receive. Free gives you 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat, with no per-record price.

Worked example: you look up 10,000 domains and 9,200 are found. That is 9,200 records and the 800 misses cost nothing. Free covers the first 1,000 once. On Pro the month is $499 whatever the count, inside fair use. See pricing.

Coverage

LeadOcean holds 63M companies and 693M people (measured September 2026). We do not publish how many companies carry a funding block, so do not assume it.

For a sense of recent activity, leadocean_count_leads on 2026-09-30 with minLastFundingYear 2025 returned 1,969,428 mailable people at companies whose last round was in 2025 or later. That counts people with a verified or catch-all email, not companies. The call is free.

Accuracy and limits

  • Sparse by design. Funding sits on a small fraction of companies. Small private companies often have none.
  • Last round only. The record has the last round's type, date and year, plus a total. There is no round-by-round history in the schema.
  • Filters skip unknowns. The funding filters return only records whose value we hold. A company with no figure on file is never returned.
  • No news feed. This is a lookup, not an alert. The docs show no way to be told when a company raises.
  • Errors. 400 validation, 401 bad key, 403 missing scope, 404 not in our data, 429 too fast, 503 store unreachable. One shape: success: false and an error object.
  • Rate limit. 100 requests per second per key, on every plan.

FAQ

Can I look up funding by company name?

No. Send a domain or a LinkedIn company URL. If you only have a name, search companies first, then enrich the domain you get back.

Does a company with no funding data cost a record?

Yes, if we hold the company and return it. You pay for the record received. A 404 costs nothing.

Can I find every company that raised a Series A this year?

Search companies with fundingType set to "Series A" and minLastFundingYear set to the year. Each company returned is 1 record. Size it first with a free count.

Is funding available as a CSV export?

Not as a column today. The Exports page covers people and their current company basics. Pull funding through the API or an agent.
