Add an MCP Client Tool node to an n8n AI Agent, set its endpoint to https://api.leadocean.io/mcp and choose OAuth2. Your agent can then count, search and enrich people and companies. The free plan gets the same server as Pro.

Before you start
You need a LeadOcean account and an n8n instance with an AI Agent workflow. Create a free account. It has no card and 1,000 records, one-off, and it needs a work email.
The n8n MCP Client Tool docs, September 2026, name no paid plan for the node. The agent also needs a chat model connected, which n8n's docs cover.
Use a current n8n. The node's source shows an Endpoint field and a Server Transport option from node version 1.2, and the MCP OAuth2 login option from the same version (n8n source, October 2026). The docs page itself still names only an "SSE Endpoint" field.
Add the server
Drop an MCP Client Tool node onto your AI Agent's Tools input and set these fields:

Tools to Include also offers All and All Except. Keep it on Selected while you test, so the agent cannot reach an export tool by accident.
If you want one fixed tool call as a normal workflow step, with no agent choosing, n8n has a separate MCP Client node. Its docs list the same authentication methods (n8n docs, September 2026).
Sign in
Sign-in is OAuth 2.1 and no API key is pasted. Create a new credential from the node's Credentials field, using the MCP OAuth2 type. Leave "Use Dynamic Client Registration" on, which is its default.
With that switch on, n8n registers itself with the server, so you do not create an app or paste a Client ID and Secret (n8n MCP credentials docs, September 2026). LeadOcean supports this at https://api.leadocean.io/oauth/register (scope mcp). Leave Resource URL empty and n8n discovers it.
Approve access in the LeadOcean window that opens. The n8n docs do not walk through the sign-in screens, and we have not run n8n's OAuth2 login against our server end to end. If it fails for you, read Troubleshooting below.
To revoke, delete the credential in n8n, then remove the app under API keys, Connected apps in your LeadOcean account.
Your first prompt
Start with a count. Counting is free.
How many VP-level sales leaders in Canada can I email? Count only. Do not pull anyone.
The agent calls leadocean_count_leads with jobLevel set to VP, jobFunction set to Sales & Business Development and country set to CA. That costs 0 records. We ran the same filters on 2026-10-01 and the tool returned 5,066, an exact total.
That figure is mailable people only: email status verified, catch_all_valid or catch_all. It is not everyone we hold for those filters.
When the count looks right, ask for five with title and company. That calls leadocean_search_leads and costs 1 record per person returned, so 5. Tell the agent in its system prompt to stop at a record limit.

Troubleshooting

FAQ
Do I need an API key for n8n?
Not for the MCP node, which uses OAuth sign-in. The HTTP Request route in the n8n recipe uses an x-api-key header instead. Both draw on one balance.
Is the free plan the same server as Pro?
Yes. Free is 1,000 records, one-off, with search and enrich both available. Pro is $499 a month, flat, with no per-record price. See pricing.
Should an agent or a workflow pull my list?
Use the agent for exploring, and a scheduled HTTP export for big repeatable pulls. The n8n and Attio stack guide shows a full outbound build.
