Ask Claude or Cursor for a company's annual revenue by domain and the agent calls get_company. One URL, OAuth sign-in, 1 record per lookup.

This page is about setup and prompts. For the field list and what a hit costs in detail, see Company Revenue. Other clients are on the MCP hub.

Connect the server

The server is https://api.leadocean.io/mcp. It signs in with OAuth 2.1, so there is no key to paste. Create a free account first.

Claude Code. The command format is from the Claude Code MCP docs, September 2026:

bash
claude mcp add --transport http leadocean https://api.leadocean.io/mcp
claude mcp login leadocean

Cursor. Add a remote server to mcp.json, in the url form shown in the Cursor MCP docs, September 2026:

json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "leadocean": {
      "url": "https://api.leadocean.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Cursor starts the sign-in the first time the server is used. Other clients are listed in the LeadOcean MCP docs.

The tool

Revenue has no tool of its own. It comes back from get_company, which the server lists as leadocean_get_company. It costs 1 record per call.

InputTypeMeaning
domainstringWebsite domain, for example stripe.com. Preferred key.
linkedin_urlURLLinkedIn company page. Use it when you have no domain.

Send one of the two. There is no lookup by company name. The REST twin is POST /v1/companies/enrich.

To find companies by revenue instead, search_companies takes minRevenue and maxRevenue in USD. It costs 1 record per company returned.

Prompts that work

PromptWhat the agent callsRecords
"Look up stripe.com and tell me its annual revenue and headcount. Say 'not held' if revenue is empty."get_company with domain1
"Check my balance, then get revenue for these 20 domains into a table. Stop after 20 records."get_account, then get_company per domain20 at most
"Find 25 software companies with at least $100M revenue."list_enum_values for the industry, then search_companies with minRevenue25 at most

Put a record limit in the prompt. The agent holds a batch to it.

Name the field you want. "Annual revenue" sends the agent to company_revenue_in_usd.

What the agent gets back

The result is one leadocean.company.v1 object plus a meta block. The shape follows the company docs, September 2026, trimmed to the revenue-relevant fields. Every value below is a placeholder (Acme), not a lookup we ran.

json
{
  "success": true,
  "data": {
    "company_data": {
      "company_name": "Acme",
      "company_domain": "acme.com",
      "company_employees": {
        "number_of_employees": 1200,
        "number_of_employees_code": "1001-5000"
      },
      "company_revenue_in_usd": 250000000
    },
    "company_metrics": { "completion_score": 94, "marketability_score": 81 },
    "meta": { "sources": ["own"], "schema": "leadocean.company.v1" }
  },
  "meta": { "credits": 1, "source": "own" }
}

The docs also describe a banded company_revenue_in_usd_code and company_financials[] with yearly revenue and growth. Unknown values are null, never guessed.

Revenue is thinly held. The docs call it a bonus, not a field to filter on. The tool description the model reads lists headcount, founded year and technologies but not revenue, so name the field in your prompt.

Free checks first

count_leads, list_enum_values and get_account spend no records. Run them before any paid call.

We ran count_leads with domain: ["stripe.com"] on 2026-10-01. It returned total: 10301, totalIsExact: true, credits: 0. That is mailable people at the domain, not everyone we hold.

count_leads cannot size by revenue. It does not take minRevenue or maxRevenue. To size a revenue filter, run search_companies, which spends records.

Troubleshooting

ErrorCauseFix
401The OAuth sign-in is missing or expired.Run /mcp in Claude Code and re-authenticate. In Cursor, sign in again from the MCP settings.
402The free 1,000 records are spent. The free plan is one-off.Move to Pro at $499 a month.
429Too many calls at once. The limit is 100 requests per second per key.Wait one second and retry. Ask the agent to run lookups in small batches.
Wrong enumA filter value is not in the catalogue, for example a made-up industry.Call list_enum_values with a search term and use the exact string it returns.

FAQ

What does a call cost, and what does a miss cost?

A found company costs 1 record, even when its revenue is null. You pay for the company, not the field. A company we hold nothing for is a 404 and costs nothing.

Is revenue held for every company?

No. It sits on a small share of records. Ask the agent to report "not held" instead of estimating.

Can the agent look up revenue by company name?

No. It needs a domain or a LinkedIn company URL. For related fields over MCP, see company funding and company employees.

The free plan is 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Pro is $499 a month. See pricing.
