7 Best B2B Lead Generation Companies to Finding the Best Partner in 2026

Seven data companies compared on price, API, MCP and the cost of 1M records a month. Pick the partner that fits how you pull leads.

Get your free API key →Free to start. No credit card. 1,000 records to spend whenever you like.

A B2B lead generation company sells you the people and company records you sell to: names, titles, verified emails and phone numbers. This guide covers data companies, not outsourced agencies. You need one if you run outbound, build a sales tool or feed an AI agent.

Buyers leave their first partner over price shape and limits. Apollo bills per seat, and its credits expire each cycle (Apollo pricing, September 2026). Lusha's largest public tier holds 10,000 credits a month (Lusha pricing, September 2026). Cognism publishes no price at all.

We read the pricing pages and API docs of seven companies in September and October 2026 and priced 1M records a month on each. See our alternatives pages for Apollo, ZoomInfo, Cognism, Lusha, People Data Labs and Crustdata.

What we evaluated

  • Cost at volume. The monthly list price for 1M records. We never multiply a small-tier rate out to 1M.
  • Pricing shape. Seats, credits or a flat plan, and whether unused credits expire.
  • API and rate limit. Whether the API is on every plan and how many requests a key may send.
  • Agent access. Whether a hosted MCP server exists and how many tools it has.
  • Sizing before you pay. Whether you can count a list for free before you spend a record.

1. LeadOcean: best for agents, APIs and volume

LeadOcean is the data layer only: 693M people and 67M companies behind one REST API and a hosted MCP server. It has no sequencer, dialer, CRM or Chrome extension. Pick it when code or an agent pulls the data.

Every plan has the same data and every feature. The price buys speed and pace, not access. People search has 50 filters and company search has 34. Each record carries an email status with 13 values, and 366M people have an email and 166M a phone number. The dataset refreshes monthly.

The MCP server at api.leadocean.io/mcp has 13 tools and OAuth 2.1 sign-in (LeadOcean MCP docs, October 2026). leadocean_count_leads and leadocean_count_companies size a list for free. A count we recorded on 2026-09-30, VP-level Sales & Business Development people in Canada, returned 5,066 mailable contacts. Enrichment is POST /v1/people/enrich, phones are GET /v2/people/phone, and one search pages to 10,000 rows.

Pros

  • Flat $497 a month at 1M records, with no per-record price.
  • Free exact counts before you spend anything.
  • 13 MCP tools on every plan, with OAuth sign-in.
  • Bulk CSV export from Solo, plus an Exports page in the app.

Cons

  • No rep workspace, sequencer, dialer, CRM or Chrome extension.
  • A sales team with no engineer will want a UI.
  • Bulk CSV export is not on Free.
  • No built-in AI research column. You bring your own model through MCP.

Best for: Developers, agents and data teams that pull records at volume. Pricing: Free $0 for 1,000 records, no card; Solo $97 a month; Agency $497 a month; Platform $1,997 a month to embed and resell (LeadOcean pricing, October 2026). 1M records a month fits Agency at $497. See the pricing page.

2. Apollo: best for reps who want one app

apollo homepage

Apollo is the default pick for a sales team. One seat holds the contact database, sequences and a dialer. A rep can search, enrich and send from one screen.

The cost model is per seat plus a credit allowance. An email costs 1 credit and a phone number costs 8 (Apollo API pricing, September 2026). Credits are pooled across the team and expire at the end of each cycle.

Apollo runs an official MCP server at mcp.apollo.io/mcp, open to any plan, Free included (Apollo MCP, September 2026). Enrichment endpoints allow 1,000 requests a minute on paid plans (Apollo rate limits, September 2026).

Pros

  • Data, sequences and dialer in one app.
  • API and MCP on every plan, Free included.
  • Enrichment reaches 1,000 requests a minute on paid plans.
  • A real free plan to test the workflow.

Cons

  • Seat pricing makes an unattended pipeline expensive.
  • Credits expire each cycle.
  • Apollo prints no price for extra credits.
  • At 1M emails a month the list price needs about 250 Professional seats.

Best for: Sales teams that live in one tool all day. Pricing: Free; Basic $65 per seat a month, $49 billed yearly; Professional $99, $79 yearly; Organization $149, $119 yearly, minimum 3 seats (Apollo pricing, September 2026). 1M work emails is 1M credits: 250 Professional seats at $99 is $24,750 a month. Apollo does not say whether self-serve allows that many seats.

3. ZoomInfo GTM AI: best for pay-as-you-go credits

ZoomInfo GTM AI is the API and MCP side of ZoomInfo, sold on credits with no contract and no seat fee. A new account gets 1,000 data credits and 1,000 AI credits free, with no card (GTM AI pricing, September 2026).

Search and lookup are free. One data credit enriches or exports one company, contact or intent record, and a record is charged once per 12 months (GTM AI docs, September 2026).

ZoomInfo claims 100M+ companies and 500M+ contacts for its MCP server, which works with Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor. It needs a GTM AI account or a ZoomInfo subscription with data credits (GTM AI MCP docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • No contract, no seats.
  • Free search and lookup.
  • Re-enriching a record inside 12 months costs nothing extra.
  • API and MCP on the free tier.

Cons

  • List price is $0.45 a credit at the base tier and falls to $0.25 at 100,000 credits.
  • The credit slider stops at 100,000. Larger volumes go to Enterprise.
  • Free allows 5 requests a second.
  • Batch enrichment takes at most 25 records per call.

Best for: Teams that want ZoomInfo data without a platform contract. Pricing: Credits from $20, at $0.45 each down to $0.25 at 100,000 credits ($25,000) (GTM AI pricing, September 2026). No public 1M price: the slider stops at 100,000. ZoomInfo platform plans are sold through sales, and zoominfo.com/pricing blocked our fetch, so we quote no platform price.

4. Cognism: best for phone-verified mobiles

cognism homepage

Cognism is a sales intelligence platform with a rep workspace, an API and an MCP server. The Pro plan adds buying-intent prioritisation built on Bombora Company Surge (Cognism pricing, September 2026). It claims over 10M phone-verified contacts on its Diamond Data page.

Cognism publishes no dollar price. Pricing is tailored by product, team setup and usage. One credit is one revealed contact, and each seat carries a credit allocation.

The API allows 500 requests a minute per account, per operation (Cognism rate limits, September 2026). The MCP server at mcp.cognism.com/mcp has 15 tools and OAuth 2.0 sign-in (Cognism MCP docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • Phone-verified mobile data and Do Not Call checks in 15 territories.
  • Intent prioritisation on Pro.
  • Cursor pagination up to 100,000 records per journey.
  • 15-tool MCP server that maps onto the API.

Cons

  • No public price for any plan, seat or credit.
  • Credit allocation per seat is not published.
  • API and MCP depend on the package you buy.
  • Its docs disagree on whether a count call costs a search token.

Best for: Outbound teams whose reps call verified mobiles. Pricing: No public price. Standard and Pro each list 5 seats, by quote (Cognism pricing, September 2026). No public 1M price.

5. Lusha: best for small teams that reveal contacts one at a time

lusha homepage

Lusha is a contact reveal tool with a browser extension, an API and an MCP server. It suits a small team that looks up a few hundred people a month. It is priced in credits, and an email costs 1 credit and a phone number 5.

Plans run Free at 40 credits a month, Starter at $49.90 for 400, Pro at $69.90 for 600 and Premium at $399.90 for 3,400, all billed monthly. Yearly billing cuts about a quarter (Lusha pricing, September 2026). Scale is a custom quote.

Every plan gets an API key. Rate limits rise from 40 requests a minute on Free to 300 on Premium (Lusha API guide, September 2026). The MCP server has 50 tools and shares the API credit pool (Lusha MCP docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • Cheap entry point at $49.90 a month.
  • API key on every plan, Free included.
  • 50-tool MCP server.
  • Pro and Premium billed monthly roll unused credits over, up to 2x.

Cons

  • Top public tier is 10,000 credits a month, far below 1M.
  • A phone number costs 5 credits, and 7 through one API request.
  • Rate limits are low on small plans.
  • Scale has no published price per credit.

Best for: Small teams and solo sellers who reveal contacts as they go. Pricing: Free; Starter $49.90 a month, $37.45 billed yearly; Pro $69.90, $52.45 yearly; Premium $399.90, $299.95 yearly (Lusha pricing, September 2026). No public 1M price: 1M work emails by bulk API is about 1,040,000 credits, which is 104 times the largest listed plan.

6. People Data Labs: best for developers building on a raw dataset

people-data-labs homepage

People Data Labs sells a raw person and company dataset through an API. It is aimed at developers who build their own product. Its own dataset pages list 2,466,510,427 person profiles, 592,376,573 with an email, and 76,606,079 company records (PDL datasets, September 2026).

Pro starts at $98 a month for 350 credits, or $0.28 a credit. PDL says a Pro person profile costs about $0.20 to $0.28 depending on volume (PDL pricing, September 2026). Self-serve is meant for volumes below roughly 100,000 profiles, and larger buyers go to Enterprise.

Person enrichment allows 1,000 requests a minute on paying plans, but person search allows only 10 a minute by default (PDL usage limits, September 2026). PDL has no official MCP server in its docs or llms.txt (PDL llms.txt, September 2026).

Pros

  • A very large profile dataset with company records alongside.
  • Requests that return nothing are not billed.
  • Bulk enrichment takes up to 100 persons per request.
  • Free plan with 100 credits a month.

Cons

  • No official MCP server.
  • Person search is limited to 10 requests a minute by default.
  • Free obscures contact data.
  • Self-serve stops near 100,000 profiles; above that you talk to sales.

Best for: Developers who build a data product on a raw profile dataset. Pricing: Free; Pro from $98 a month, $940 a year ($78 a month) (PDL pricing, September 2026). No public 1M price: self-serve stops near 100,000 profiles.

7. Crustdata: best for fresh profiles and signals

crustdata homepage

Crustdata is a real-time people and company data API with a hosted MCP server. It also sells watchers that alert you when a person or company changes. It is built for engineers more than reps.

It sells credits, not dollars. Search costs 0.03 credits per result. A person enrich is 1 to 7 credits, and a work email through /person/enrich is 2 credits (Crustdata pricing, September 2026). The cheaper contact endpoint needs an enterprise plan.

Default rate limits are low: 15 requests a minute on person enrich and 30 on search (Crustdata rate limits, September 2026). The MCP server at install.crustdata.com/mcp uses OAuth, or an API key as a bearer token for code (Crustdata MCP docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • Change watchers for people and companies.
  • Hosted MCP server with OAuth or key auth.
  • Misses on contact enrich are not billed.
  • Batch person enrich takes up to 10,000 identifiers a job.

Cons

  • No public dollar price per credit or plan.
  • 15 requests a minute on person enrich is slow for volume.
  • The cheaper contact endpoint is enterprise only.
  • Its sources disagree on credit expiry: 12 months in the docs, 6 in a blog post.

Best for: Builders who need fresh profile and change data in an agent. Pricing: No public dollar price. Credits expire 12 months after purchase per the docs (Crustdata pricing, September 2026). No public 1M price: 1M work emails is 2,000,000 credits on /person/enrich, and the dollar value depends on your plan.

FAQ

What is the best B2B lead generation company?

It depends on who does the prospecting. LeadOcean is the best for code, agents and volume. Apollo is the best single app for reps. Cognism is the best fit for phone-verified mobiles.

Which B2B lead generation company is cheapest at 1M records a month?

LeadOcean, among the companies with a published price. Agency is $497 a month. Apollo's list price for 1M emails is $24,750 a month (Apollo pricing, September 2026). The other five print no price at that volume.

How do I choose a lead generation partner?

Count your list first, then price it on each model. Seat pricing punishes pipelines, and credit pricing punishes volume. Check the rate limit and the MCP server before you sign anything.

Do these companies have an MCP server for AI agents?

Six of the seven do. People Data Labs has no official server in its docs. Tool counts differ: LeadOcean has 13, Cognism 15 and Lusha 50. On the credit-based vendors, MCP calls spend the same credits as the API.

Is there a free B2B lead generation plan?

Yes, with limits. LeadOcean's free plan has 1,000 records for life, no card, and every feature. Lusha Free gives 40 credits a month, and Apollo Free gives 75. Cognism and Crustdata publish no free tier we could confirm.

Should I use more than one company?

You can. One split keeps a rep tool such as Apollo for daily work and uses LeadOcean for bulk pulls and agents. See Apollo alternatives for how that works.
