A B2B sales lead database is a searchable store of business contacts and companies that sales teams filter, export or pull by API. Two kinds of buyer use one. Reps work in a screen all day. Engineers, RevOps teams and agent builders pull records in bulk.
People leave a database for the same reasons. Seat prices multiply, credits expire each cycle, API access sits behind a custom plan, or the 1M-record price is a sales call. Moving off one of these? Read our alternative pages for Apollo, ZoomInfo, Lusha, Cognism, UpLead and Lead411.
"Honest test results" has a narrow meaning here. We read each vendor's public pricing and API docs in September 2026, and we ran one live count on LeadOcean. We did not run the competitors' searches, so we publish no accuracy score for any tool. Where a vendor shows no price at 1M records a month, we write "No public 1M price" and do not multiply a small-tier rate.
TL;DR
| Tool | Best for | Starting price | Cost at 1M records a month |

| Apollo | Reps who want data plus outreach | Free. Basic $65 per seat a month ($49 billed yearly) | $24,750 a month on seats (monthly billing); $19,600 a month equivalent billed yearly |
| ZoomInfo | Enterprise sales teams | 1,000 free credits on GTM AI. Credits from $0.45 each | No public 1M price |
| Lusha | Individual reps and small teams | Free. Starter $49.90 a month ($37.45 billed yearly) | No public 1M price |
| Cognism | EMEA outbound with phone-verified contacts | Quote only | No public 1M price |
| UpLead | Verified emails with a refund on bounces | Essentials $99 a month ($74 billed yearly) | No public 1M price |
| Lead411 | Small US teams that want a Chrome extension | Spark $49 a month ($40.83 billed yearly) | No public 1M price |
What we evaluated
- Data and filters. How big the database is, and how finely a rep or a script can slice it.
- API access. Whether the API is on every plan or locked to a custom tier, and the published rate limit.
- MCP. Whether an official hosted MCP server exists, so an agent can search without custom code.
- Price model. Seats, credits or a flat fee, and whether unused allowance expires.
- Cost at 1M records a month. The cheapest published path, monthly list price first, billed-yearly figure after it.
1. LeadOcean: best for API, agent and volume pulls
LeadOcean is a data layer, not a rep workspace. It holds 693M people (366M with an email, 166M with a phone) and 67M companies behind one REST API and a hosted MCP server. There are 50 people filters and 34 company filters.
It has no sequencer, dialer, CRM or Chrome extension. The app at app.leadocean.io has an Exports page with a filter builder, a column picker, a price preview and CSV download. You bring your own sequencer.
This is the one test we ran. On 21 October 2026 we called leadocean_count_leads for VP-level people in Sales & Business Development in the US. It returned 129,494 people with a verified, catch_all_valid or catch_all email, across about 58,000 employers. The same filters with no email condition match 350,517 people. The count cost 0 records.
Pros
- Flat pricing: Agency is $497 a month for 1M records a month, 200 requests a second and 5 keys.
- Counts are free:
leadocean_count_leadsandGET /v1/companies/countsize a list before you spend a record. - Hosted MCP with 13 tools on every plan, Free included, with OAuth sign-in.
- Email status on every record, 13 values from
verifiedtospam_trap. - Person enrich returns career history, and one search pages to 10,000 rows.
Cons
- No rep workspace, sequences, dialer or intent data.
- Bulk CSV export is not on the Free plan.
- No refund or credit-back for bounced emails. Read
email_statusbefore you send. POST /v1/people/enrichtakes a LinkedIn URL, email, phone or person_id, not a name plus domain.
Best for: engineers, RevOps teams and agent builders who need volume at a fixed bill.
Pricing: Free $0, Solo $97, Agency $497, Platform $1,997 a month (LeadOcean pricing, October 2026).
2. Apollo: best for reps who want data and outreach in one tool

Apollo is a sales platform with a database, sequences, a dialer and a Chrome extension, priced per seat. Every plan includes API access, Free included.
Credits are the catch. An email costs 1 credit, a phone number 8, and people enrichment by API is 1 to 9. Credits are pooled across the team and expire at the end of each billing cycle, add-ons included (Apollo API credit docs, September 2026). Apollo prints no price per extra credit.
Pros
- One workspace for finding, emailing and calling.
- Official MCP server at mcp.apollo.io/mcp on any plan, Free included.
- Enrichment endpoints allow 1,000 requests a minute on paid plans.
- A real free plan for one seller.
Cons
- Per-seat pricing: 1M email lookups need about 250 Professional seats.
- Credits do not roll over.
- General endpoints are capped at 200 requests a minute on Basic and Professional.
- Add-on credit price is not public.
Best for: sales teams whose reps live in the tool all day.
Pricing: Basic $65, Professional $99 and Organization $149 per seat a month on monthly billing, from $49, $79 and $119 billed yearly (Apollo pricing, September 2026). At 1M email lookups, Professional seats cost $24,750 a month on monthly billing (Apollo API credit docs, September 2026).
3. ZoomInfo: best for enterprise sales teams
ZoomInfo is the incumbent enterprise platform. Its MCP server claims 500M+ contacts and 100M+ companies (GTM AI MCP docs, September 2026). The newer GTM AI product sells data credits by API, with 1,000 free at signup and no card.
Price falls with purchase size, from $0.45 a credit down to $0.25 at 100,000 credits for $25,000. The public slider stops there. Above it you talk to Enterprise sales, and platform plan prices were behind a human check when we looked.
Pros
- Large dataset and a long record with enterprise sales teams.
- Official MCP server that works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Copilot.
- API limits are published by package: Builder 5 a second, Standard 25, Scaling 35.
- Search and lookup are free. Credits do not expire while the account is active.
Cons
- No public 1M price. Repeating the 100,000 pack ten times would assume a rate no one has quoted.
- Batch enrichment takes at most 25 records per call.
- Platform pricing is by sales quote.
Best for: large sales organizations that want the biggest brand and will negotiate a contract.
Pricing: GTM AI credits at $0.25 to $0.45 each by purchase size (GTM AI pricing, September 2026).
4. Lusha: best for individual reps and small teams

Lusha is a browser-first prospecting tool with an API and an MCP server. Every user gets an API key, Free included. The MCP server has 50 tools at mcp.lusha.com and shares the REST credit pool (Lusha MCP docs, September 2026).
Starter is $49.90 a month billed monthly for 400 credits, or $37.45 billed yearly. Premium is $399.90 a month for 3,400 credits. The top public step is 10,000 credits a month, so 1M work emails by bulk API (about 1,040,000 credits) has no public price.
Pros
- Low entry price and a free plan.
- API key on every plan.
- Large MCP toolset with 50 tools.
- Simple credit model: email 1, phone 5.
Cons
- Low per-key limits: Pro 50 a minute, Premium 300 a minute.
- The top public tier is about 1% of a 1M pull.
- No public 1M price.
Best for: one rep or a small team that prospects by hand and wants an API on the side.
Pricing: Starter $49.90, Pro $69.90, Premium $399.90 a month on monthly billing (Lusha pricing, September 2026).
5. Cognism: best for EMEA outbound with phone-verified contacts

Cognism sells phone-verified B2B contacts, with strength in Europe, mostly through sales-led packages. Current plans are Standard and Pro. No price per plan, seat or credit is published.
One credit reveals one contact, and viewing a revealed contact again is free. The API allows 500 requests a minute per account, per operation, with pages up to 100 records. The MCP server at mcp.cognism.com/mcp has 15 tools and uses OAuth 2.0 (Cognism MCP docs, September 2026).
Pros
- Official MCP server that maps one to one onto the API.
- 500 requests a minute per operation, higher than most seat-based tools.
- Cursor pagination runs up to 100,000 records per journey.
- Phone-verified contacts for outbound calling.
Cons
- No published price, so you cannot compare before a sales call.
- API and MCP need a package that includes them.
- No public 1M price.
Best for: outbound teams that call into Europe and will buy on a quote.
Pricing: Quote only (Cognism pricing, September 2026).
6. UpLead: best for verified emails with a bounce refund
UpLead claims 200M+ contacts with email and 19M+ company profiles. Its data page says it refunds bounces and poor data (UpLead data, September 2026). It charges a credit only when an email is Valid or Accept All (UpLead API docs, September 2026).
The catch is the API. Full API access is on the custom-quote Professional plan, not on Essentials or Plus. Its docs mention no MCP server. Extra credits cost $0.50 or $0.60, with purchases capped at $2,000 a day (UpLead help, September 2026).
Pros
- Clear self-serve prices for one user.
- Credit charged only for Valid or Accept All emails.
- Bounces and poor data are refunded.
- API rate limit of 500 requests a minute.
Cons
- API access needs the Professional quote.
- No MCP server.
- The daily purchase cap rules out a 1M month on self-serve.
- 1 user per self-serve plan.
Best for: a single seller who wants verified emails and a guarantee.
Pricing: Essentials $99 a month ($74 billed yearly), Plus $199 ($149 billed yearly) (UpLead pricing, September 2026).
7. Lead411: best for small US teams that want a Chrome extension
Lead411 covers 13 countries, mostly the US, Canada and Western Europe (Lead411 FAQ, September 2026). Spark has verified emails, advanced search and the Chrome extension. It leaves out direct phone numbers and API access.
Ignite starts at $150 a month and adds phones, API and CRM customisation. Buyer intent is licensed from Bombora and sold on annual plans only. Lead411 publishes no rate limit number (Lead411 API docs, September 2026).
Pros
- Low entry price: Spark is $49 a month.

- V3 API with an OpenAPI 3.1 spec.
- A hosted MCP endpoint exists.
Cons
- MCP is for approved customers and Lead411 Support must enable it.
- No published rate limit.
- Spark has no phones or API.
- No public 1M price.
Best for: small US sales teams that prospect from a browser.
Pricing: Spark $49 a month ($490 billed yearly), Ignite from $150 (Lead411 pricing, September 2026).

How to choose
- Pulling data through code or an agent at volume: LeadOcean. A flat Agency price and 200 requests a second beat per-seat and per-credit models.
- Reps who need sequences and a dialer: Apollo, or LeadOcean for the list plus your own sequencer.
- Enterprise procurement with a budget: ZoomInfo or Cognism, on a quote.
- One person, a few hundred contacts a month: Lusha Starter, or a free tier.
- Verified emails with a bounce refund: UpLead, if you can live without the API.
- A small US team that wants a Chrome extension: Lead411.
Verdict
LeadOcean wins for API, agent and volume buyers: $497 a month covers 1M records, while the others multiply by seats or hide the rate. Apollo wins for reps who want data and outreach in one place. ZoomInfo and Cognism win where a sales-led contract is normal. Lusha suits a single rep, UpLead suits verified emails for one seller, and Lead411 suits a small US team. FAQ
What is the best B2B sales lead database in 2026?
It depends on how you pull data. For API, MCP and volume, LeadOcean has the lowest published cost at 1M records a month. For reps who also need sequencing, Apollo is the all-in-one choice.
Which sales lead database is cheapest at 1M records a month?
Only LeadOcean and Apollo publish a path to 1M among these seven. LeadOcean is $497 a month on Agency. Apollo is $24,750 a month on Professional seats with monthly billing, from our September 2026 reading of its list prices.
What did you actually test?
One live LeadOcean count on 21 October 2026, described above. Everything else is from public pricing and docs read in September 2026. We ran no accuracy test, so we publish none.
Do these databases have an MCP server?
Six of the seven have one. UpLead's docs mention none, and Lead411 restricts its server to approved customers. LeadOcean's has 13 tools and works on every plan, Free included.
Can I try before I pay?
Yes. LeadOcean's Free plan has 1,000 records for life with no card, and counts are free. Apollo, Lusha and ZoomInfo's GTM AI also have free allowances. UpLead and Lead411 offer 7-day trials.
How accurate is the data?
Test a small sample from each vendor on your own audience. Read the email status on every record and track your bounce rate. Only UpLead publishes a bounce refund.
