People leave Voila Norbert when the job grows past looking up one named person at a time. Its finder takes a name and a domain, and the largest listed plan is Counselor at $499 a month for up to 50,000 leads (Voila Norbert pricing, September 2026). Nothing is listed above that. The API allows 120 requests a minute by default, and a call with no credits left returns a 402 (Voila Norbert API reference, September 2026). The product lists email finding, verification, enrichment and sequences, with no phone lookup and no people or company search. You need a second tool to build the list.

This page ranks six alternatives for API and volume buyers. LeadOcean is first because it searches a database, returns emails and phones from it, and charges one flat price. For plans and credit costs, read Voila Norbert pricing. For a hands-on view, read the Voila Norbert review.

"1M records" here means 1M work-email lookups that return a result, one credit each where the vendor uses credits. Figures are list-price arithmetic. Where a vendor sells no plan at 1M, the cell shows its top public tier or cheapest public path, not a price. For reference, Voila Norbert has no public 1M price. Its largest listed plan is 50,000 leads a month at $499, and we do not multiply that out (Voila Norbert pricing, September 2026).

What we evaluated

  • API access: which plan opens it, how you authenticate, and the default rate limit.
  • MCP: whether an agent can search or enrich through the server, or only read documentation.
  • Price model: flat, credits or seats, and what 1M records a month costs at list price.
  • Email quality controls: live verification, stored status values, bounce policy and what a miss costs.
  • Limits that bite: plan ceilings, daily caps, seat rules and what you can look up by.

We read each vendor's pricing page and docs in September 2026. We ran no find-rate or accuracy test for this page, so we quote no quality numbers of our own. Where a vendor quotes a number, we label it a vendor claim.

1. LeadOcean: best for API, agent and volume buyers

LeadOcean is one dataset behind one REST API and one MCP server. It holds 693M people, 366M with an email and 166M with a phone number, plus 63M companies. You search with 50 people filters and 34 company filters, and counts are free. So unlike Voila Norbert, you can build the list and pull the emails in the same place.

The price does not move with volume. Pro is $499 a month with unlimited searches, enrichments and lookups, 5 API keys and 100 requests per second per key. There are no credits and no overage invoice. A very large month is paced down to one request a minute until the reset, not cut off. More headroom is one email to support.

bash
curl "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/companies/acme.com/people" \
  -H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY"

curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/people/enrich" \
  -H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
  -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{"person_id":"PERSON_ID","reveal_email":true}'

The first call lists people at a domain. The second enriches one of them by person_id and returns the email. Work emails are also at GET /v2/people/email/work, and phones are at GET /v2/people/phone. The MCP server at https://api.leadocean.io/mcp signs in with OAuth 2.1 and exposes 12 tools, from search_leads to find_phone and export_leads (LeadOcean MCP docs, September 2026). Every person or company returned counts as one record.

Pros

  • Flat $499 a month at any volume, with no credit meter.
  • Search by 50 people filters, then pull emails and phones from the same database.
  • Email status on every record, from verified to spam_trap.
  • REST and MCP on every plan, including Free. A miss on POST /v1/people/enrich is a free 404.

Cons

  • No name plus domain lookup. You list people at a domain first, then enrich by person_id, which is two calls where Norbert needs one.
  • No live check against the mail server at lookup time. You read the stored email_status and decide what to send.
  • The v2 contact endpoints cost one record per call, including a call that finds nothing.
  • No Chrome extension, sequencer or CRM. The app has an Exports page with a filter builder and CSV download.

Best for: engineers, RevOps and agents that need search, emails and a fixed bill at volume.

Pricing: Free is 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).

2. Icypeas: best for cheap credits with API and MCP on every plan

Icypeas is the closest match to Norbert's pay-on-find model with a lower price at volume. A search that finds nothing costs nothing, and one found email is 1 credit. Verification costs 0.1 credit, and a company domain search costs 1 credit when it returns emails (Icypeas credit costs, September 2026).

Plans run from Basic at $19 a month for 1,000 credits to Hypergrowth at $499 for 100,000. Every plan includes the API, the MCP server and credit roll-over. The Hypergrowth selector goes further, with a published 1,000,000-credit tier at $3,992 a month, or $39,920 a year for 12M credits (Icypeas pricing, September 2026). Prices exclude VAT. You get 50 free credits at sign-up, and no free plan.

Email search, verification and domain search each allow 10 calls a second (Icypeas rate limits, September 2026). The hosted MCP server at mcp.icypeas.com/mcp signs in with your API key and lists 21 tools (Icypeas MCP guide, September 2026).

Pros

  • A published price at 1M, which Norbert lacks: $3,992 a month, or $3,326.67 a month billed yearly.
  • API and MCP on every plan, with 21 MCP tools.
  • Unused credits roll over with no expiry and no cap on stacking.
  • Finds people and companies at 0.02 credit per result, with free counts.

Cons

  • Phone Finder is listed as coming soon, so there is no mobile lookup yet.
  • 10 calls a second on the core endpoints, well under LeadOcean's 100 per key.
  • No free plan, only 50 credits once.
  • The volume tiers sit in the page's credit selector, so check them on the live page.

Best for: teams that want the lowest published per-credit price at 1M and an agent-ready API.

Pricing: Basic $19, Premium $39, Advanced $89, Hypergrowth $499 a month (Icypeas pricing, September 2026).

3. Anymail Finder: best for pay-on-find emails and a 1M pack

Anymail Finder is the nearest match to Norbert's core product. You give it a person and a company, and it returns a verified email. A person email costs 1 credit, a decision maker costs 2, and a search that finds no verified email is free (Anymail Finder pricing, September 2026). Repeating a search within 30 days is free too.

It also sells one-time packs. Monthly plans run from $29 for 400 credits to $799 for 100,000. One-time packs run from 5,000 credits at $249 to 1,000,000 credits at $4,990, about $0.0050 a credit, valid 12 months (Anymail Finder pricing, September 2026). The USD view is the same page with ?currency=usd.

The API docs state no rate limits and no daily call caps, and bulk jobs take up to 100,000 rows (Anymail Finder API docs, September 2026). The MCP server has five actions and signs in through the browser, with no key to paste (Anymail Finder MCP, September 2026).

Pros

  • A public 1M price: a $4,990 pack, valid 12 months.
  • No stated rate limits or daily call caps.
  • A verified email that bounces can be reported for a credit back, under a 97%+ delivery guarantee.
  • Subscription credits roll over with no cap while the subscription is active.

Cons

  • Like Norbert, it looks up people you name. The API docs list no database search and no phone endpoint.
  • The MCP server covers five actions and not bulk files or webhooks.
  • Pages show Canadian dollars to visitors in Canada, so check the currency before you compare.

Best for: teams that have a named list and want to buy a year of lookups in one pack.

Pricing: Monthly plans $29 to $799. Packs $249 to $4,990 (Anymail Finder pricing, September 2026).

4. Hunter: best for domain lookups with outreach attached

Hunter is an email finder with sequences built in, priced in credits. One credit is one email found, and verifying an email costs 0.5 credit. A search that finds nothing costs nothing (Hunter help center, September 2026). It is an email index, not a people and company database.

Billed monthly, Free gives 50 credits. Starter is $49 for 2,000, Growth is $149 for 10,000 and Scale is $299 for 25,000. Billed yearly, the same plans are $34, $104 and $209 a month (Hunter pricing, September 2026). Scale is the top self-serve plan. Hunter's Data Platform, for API and bulk use only, sells 1,000,000 Search credits for $6,900, bought once and valid 12 months (Hunter Data Platform, September 2026).

Email Finder and Domain Search allow 15 requests a second and 500 a minute. A rate-limited call returns 403, and 429 means you hit your usage quota (Hunter API docs, September 2026). The MCP server at mcp.hunter.io/mcp takes an API key, and the MCP page says it is included in all plans at no extra cost (Hunter MCP, September 2026).

Pros

  • 15 requests a second on the core endpoints, higher than Norbert's 120 a minute.
  • A public 1M price on the Data Platform, at $6,900 once.
  • MCP server on every plan at no extra cost.
  • Sequences, a browser extension and unlimited team members on one plan.

Cons

  • Scale stops at 25,000 credits a month, so monthly volume needs the Data Platform or a sales call.
  • On monthly plans, credits reset each month and do not carry over.
  • The 403 for rate limits and 429 for quota is easy to get backwards in client code.

Best for: teams that find emails by domain and send from the same tool.

Pricing: Free. Starter $49, Growth $149, Scale $299 a month, or less billed yearly (Hunter pricing, September 2026).

5. LeadMagic: best for valid emails and mobiles on credits

LeadMagic is a credit-based enrichment API that finds emails and mobiles and also searches people and companies. It says it holds 400M+ people profiles and 25M+ companies, which is a vendor claim (LeadMagic, September 2026). A valid email is 1 credit and a mobile is 5. A miss on Email Finder costs nothing.

The credit price falls as you climb the plans. Essential is $99 a month for 5,000 credits. Professional is $499 for 50,000, and Ultimate is $849 for 100,000, or $0.00849 a credit (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026). Billed yearly, Ultimate is $8,490 for 1,200,000 credits. Above that you need an Enterprise quote, and there is no free plan, only a 14-day money-back guarantee on the first payment (LeadMagic FAQ, September 2026).

Email Finder allows 600 requests a minute (LeadMagic docs, September 2026). The hosted MCP server uses OAuth only and static API keys are not accepted. LeadMagic states it exposes 43 tools (LeadMagic MCP, September 2026).

Pros

  • The credit price falls to $0.00849 on Ultimate, and a mobile is 5 credits.
  • No charge when an email is not found.
  • Searches people and companies as well as finding emails, which Norbert does not.
  • A hosted MCP server with 43 tools.

Cons

  • The top self-serve plan is 100,000 credits, so 1M a month needs Enterprise.
  • No free plan or trial credits.
  • OAuth-only MCP sign-in rules out clients that cannot run a browser flow.

Best for: teams that enrich a few hundred thousand valid emails a month on credits.

Pricing: Essential $99, Growth $249, Professional $499, Ultimate $849 a month (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026).

6. Prospeo: best for reps who want an extension

Prospeo sells an email and mobile finder per user, on credits, with a REST API, a Chrome extension and an MCP server. One verified email costs 1 credit and one mobile costs 10. A miss costs nothing, and re-enriching the same record within 90 days is free (Prospeo help center, September 2026).

Plans are priced per user and billed in USD. Free has 100 credits a month. Starter is $49 per user a month for 2,000 credits, Growth is $99 for 5,000 and Pro is $249 for 15,000 (Prospeo pricing, September 2026). Credits do not roll over. Add-on credits stop at 350,000 a month, so 1M is a stack of seats plus the add-on (Prospeo help center, September 2026).

Enrichment allows 5 requests a second and 2,000 a day on Starter. Pro allows 30 a second and 500,000 a day (Prospeo rate limits, September 2026). The MCP server at mcp.prospeo.io exposes 8 tools and signs in with OAuth 2.0 or an API key (Prospeo MCP docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • Search and enrichment in one product, with a Chrome extension for reps.
  • A miss costs no credit, and repeat enrichment inside 90 days is free.
  • MCP server with 8 tools and a choice of OAuth or API key.

Cons

  • Per-user pricing, so a team adds seats and credits together.
  • Daily request caps of 2,000 on Starter and 5,000 on Growth.
  • The cheapest public path to 1M is $14,456 a month, the most in this group.
  • Unused credits expire at the end of each cycle.

Best for: reps and small teams that want an extension and pay-as-you-go emails.

Pricing: Free. Starter $49, Growth $99, Pro $249 per user a month (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).

Sources are linked in each tool section, all checked in September 2026. Vendors change plans often, so confirm on the pricing page before you buy. The 1M column is list-price arithmetic on email lookups. Icypeas, Anymail Finder and Hunter publish a 1M price. Anymail Finder and Hunter sell it as a one-off purchase valid 12 months, not a monthly bill. LeadMagic sells no plan at 1M a month, so its cell shows the top public tier. Prospeo's path is 44 Pro seats at $249 plus the 350,000-credit add-on at $3,500 for 1,010,000 credits. Billed yearly it is $11,223 once.

How to choose

  • You pull data in code or with an agent, at volume: LeadOcean. One flat price, search plus emails, REST and MCP on every plan.
  • You want the lowest published price per credit at 1M: Icypeas, at $3,992 a month.
  • You have a named list and want one year of lookups in a pack: Anymail Finder, with a 1M pack at $4,990.
  • You look up emails by domain and send from the same tool: Hunter.
  • You buy valid emails and mobiles by the hundred thousand: LeadMagic, at $0.00849 a credit on Ultimate.
  • Your reps live in a browser extension: Prospeo, and budget per user.
  • You only need emails for a short list, a few thousand a month: stay on Voila Norbert. Valet is $49 for 1,000 leads and a miss is free.
  • You are also comparing pricing before you decide: read Voila Norbert pricing.

Verdict

LeadOcean wins for API, agent and volume buyers. It is the only tool here that searches 693M people, returns emails and phones from the same database, and charges one flat price. Icypeas wins on the lowest published price at 1M, and Anymail Finder wins for a named list bought as a pack. Hunter suits domain lookups with outreach, LeadMagic suits valid emails and mobiles on credits, and Prospeo suits reps who want an extension. Voila Norbert stays the simple choice at low volume. Otherwise start on the free plan and compare the same lookups.

FAQ

Why do teams leave Voila Norbert?

Volume and shape. The largest listed plan is 50,000 leads a month, and the pricing page lists nothing above it (Voila Norbert pricing, September 2026). The finder needs a name and a domain, and the default API limit is 120 requests a minute (Voila Norbert API reference, September 2026).

What is the cheapest Voila Norbert alternative at volume?

At 1M records a month, LeadOcean at $499 flat is cheapest on list price. Icypeas lists $3,992 a month for 1,000,000 credits. Anymail Finder sells 1,000,000 credits for $4,990 once, and Hunter sells 1,000,000 Search credits for $6,900 once. LeadMagic has no public 1M price. Prospeo's cheapest public path is $14,456 a month. Enterprise quotes narrow the gap.

Does Voila Norbert have an API, and what is its rate limit?

Yes. The API uses Basic Auth and is included in every finder plan, with a default of 120 requests a minute. Some endpoints, such as search, allow fewer (Voila Norbert API reference, September 2026). LeadOcean allows 100 requests per second per key, which is 6,000 a minute.

Does Voila Norbert have an MCP server?

We found none on its pricing, API or docs pages in September 2026. All six alternatives here run a hosted MCP server that returns data. Compare the tools each server exposes before you choose.

Can I use LeadOcean with Voila Norbert?

Yes. Use LeadOcean to list people at a domain and pull the emails it holds. Then send the addresses you are about to use to Norbert's verify service for a live check, at its pay-as-you-go rate. LeadOcean stores an email_status on every record, so read it before you send.

Do I need a credit card to try LeadOcean?

No. The free plan needs a work email and no card. It gives you 1,000 records, one-off, with the same API and MCP server as Pro. See pricing.
