For a company website, the owner is usually the founder or owner on file for that domain. LeadOcean holds people by company domain, so Claude can look them up in one pass. Connect https://api.leadocean.io/mcp first. Setup is on the MCP page.
This is not a WHOIS lookup. It finds the people who run the business behind a site, not the registrant of the domain name.
The prompt
Find out who owns these company domains:
acme.com, example.com, (paste the rest here)
1. Call leadocean_list_enum_values for seniority and confirm
the exact values owner and founder.
2. Call leadocean_count_leads with domain set to my list and
seniority owner and founder. Tell me the count and the filters.
3. Do not call leadocean_search_leads until I say go.
4. When I say go, call leadocean_search_leads with the same
filters and limit 100. Show title, company domain and country.
5. List any domain that returned nobody. What it resolves to
| Filter | Value |
|---|---|
| domain | The domains you pasted, as bare domains such as acme.com |
| seniority | owner, founder |
seniority is a closed list of 12 values, lowercase. Add c_suite if a domain returns nobody, since some small firms list a CEO instead of a founder.
How many match
On 2 October 2026, leadocean_count_leads returned 1,110,332 mailable people with seniority owner or founder, employeeRange 1-10 or 11-50, country US. That is the pool a domain list draws from, so your own list is a small slice of it.
The count is free. It covers mailable people by default (verified, catch_all_valid or catch_all). A domain list returns its own total, so run it before you search. Many small sites return one person, and some return none.
What you get back
Search rows carry the fields below. These are placeholder values, not real records.
| Title | Company size | Industry | Country |
|---|---|---|---|
| Founder and CEO | 1-10 | Software Development | US |
| Owner | 11-50 | Marketing Services | GB |
| Co-Founder | 11-50 | Retail | DE |
Variations
- Swap the filter line for "seniority partner" to find the partners at law and accounting firm sites.
- Add "country US" to keep only owners based in the US.
- Ask Claude to check the domains first with employeeRange 1-10, so you only look up one-person shops.
Records it spends
The enum lookup and the count are free. leadocean_search_leads costs 1 record per person returned, so a limit of 100 costs up to 100 records. Free gives you 1,000 records one-off with no card. Pro is $499 a month. See pricing.
