An email warmup tool exchanges mail between your new mailbox and a network of other inboxes, raising daily volume in steps so providers learn to trust the sender. The schedule is what you are buying. A ramp that is too fast burns a domain, and one that is too slow wastes weeks.
Price per mailbox is the usual first filter, but the pace matters more. Instantly ramps by a fixed step. Smartlead scales on its own and pauses on bounces. Others let you set caps by hand.
This page ranks seven options on schedule control first, then pause rules, API, MCP and price. Setting up from zero? Read how to warm up an email domain and our warmup schedule roundup. Plans are on LeadOcean pricing.
TL;DR
| Tool | Best for | Starting price | Cost at 1M records a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Instantly | Unlimited warmup bundled with a sequencer | Growth $47 a month | No per-record price. Warmup is unlimited on every plan. Hypergrowth $97 a month |
| Smartlead | Auto-scaling ramps with auto-pause | Base $39 a month ($32.50 billed yearly) | No per-record price. Smart $174 a month sends 150,000 emails |
| lemlist | lemwarm inside a multichannel tool | Email $69 a month ($55 billed yearly) | No per-record price. 50,000 emails a month on the Email plan |
| MailReach | Warmup plus spam testing, any SMTP host | $25 per mailbox a month | No per-record price. Priced per mailbox |
| Warmy | Seed-list tests and DMARC with warmup | From $49 a month | No per-record price. Volume-based, custom above the entry plan |
| Warmup Inbox | Cheapest per mailbox, scheduled warmup | Free tier. Basic $15 per inbox a month | No per-record price. Priced per inbox |
| LeadOcean | The verified list you send after the ramp | Free (1,000 records, one-off). Solo $97 a month | Agency $497 a month. Fair use applies |
Warmup tools do not sell records, so the last column shows how each one is metered. For LeadOcean, "1M records" means people you receive. Prices are monthly first, then billed yearly where the page shows it.
What we evaluated
- Schedule control: whether the ramp is fixed, adaptive, or set by you through caps, reply rates and scheduled windows.
- Pause rules: whether the tool stops the ramp on a bounce spike or spam flag, and whether it resumes on its own.
- Network and honesty of claims: the pool size the vendor states, and whether a result is a vendor claim or independently shown.
- API and MCP: whether you can script mailbox setup, and whether an agent can call the tool.
- Price per mailbox: the list price from the vendor's own pricing page, monthly first.
We read each pricing page, product page and API doc in October 2026. We did not run a placement test, so we quote no result of our own. The FAQ gives a 14-day test you can run yourself.
1. Instantly: best for unlimited warmup bundled with a sequencer
Instantly includes unlimited warmup on every Outreach plan (Instantly pricing, October 2026). Growth is $47 a month, Hypergrowth $97 and Light Speed $358. You pay for the sequencer, and warmup comes with it.
The schedule is a slow ramp. Day 1 sends 2 warmup emails, day 2 sends 4, day 3 sends 6, and so on. You can also set the open rate, response rate and spam protection, and turn on read emulation, which scrolls through warmup mail like a person (Instantly warmup, October 2026). Instantly states a pool of over 1,000,000 real accounts.
The API allows 100 requests per second and 6,000 per minute for the whole workspace (Instantly API docs, October 2026). Its MCP server exposes the V2 API as tools, so Claude or Cursor can manage accounts, warmup settings and campaigns (Instantly MCP docs, October 2026).
Pros
- Unlimited warmup on every plan, so mailbox count does not raise the warmup bill.
- Fixed slow ramp that you can read and predict.
- Settable open rate, response rate and spam protection.
- Workspace-wide API limit of 100 requests per second.
Cons
- You buy the sequencer to get the warmup.
- No per-mailbox ramp profile is documented on the product page.
- Warmup cannot be bought without the sending plan.
Best for: teams that already send from Instantly and want warmup with no extra line item.
Pricing: Growth $47, Hypergrowth $97, Light Speed $358 a month (Instantly pricing, October 2026).
2. Smartlead: best for auto-scaling ramps with auto-pause
Smartlead warms up on a ramp that starts small and scales when providers trust you, using daily caps and per-domain limits. Each mailbox gets its own ramping profile (Smartlead warmup, October 2026).
The strongest part is the safety rail. A bounce spike, a spam flag or an invalid inbox pauses the warmup and starts a cool-down. Bad accounts leave the pool, and healthy ones resume. Reply-balancing limits pause an inbox after it reaches a safe reply level, then rejoin it. You can still adjust daily caps and reply rates.
Plans run from Base at $39 a month (6,000 sends) to Prime at $379 (500,000 sends) (Smartlead pricing, October 2026). API limits are per key: 60 requests a minute on Standard and 120 on Pro (Smartlead API docs, October 2026). We found no MCP server in its API docs index (Smartlead llms.txt, October 2026).
Pros
- Per-mailbox ramp profile with adaptive scaling.
- Auto-pause on bounce and spam signals, with automatic recovery.
- A private, vetted pool, as the vendor describes it.
- Unlimited mailboxes on every plan.
Cons
- Low API ceiling on Standard: 60 requests a minute.
- No MCP server found in its API docs index.
- Warmup is part of a sequencer plan, not a standalone product.
Best for: agencies running many mailboxes that want the ramp to slow itself when something goes wrong.
Pricing: Base $39, Pro $94, Smart $174, Prime $379 a month; $32.50, $78.30, $144.50 and $314.60 billed yearly (Smartlead pricing, October 2026).
3. lemlist: best for lemwarm inside a multichannel tool
lemwarm is lemlist's warmup. It trades real mail with real inboxes, and you set the pace. lemlist also caps daily sending per inbox, pauses before you reach unsafe limits and lets you set sending windows by timezone (lemlist infrastructure, October 2026).
A tech audit shows what is wrong per mailbox. The Email plan includes warm-up and the deliverability hub.
The Email plan is $69 a month, or $55 billed yearly, with 50,000 emails a month and unlimited senders. The Multichannel plan is $109 a month ($87 billed yearly) (lemlist pricing, October 2026). The same page lists a lemlist MCP and CLI and an API on the Email plan. We did not find a published API rate limit.
Pros
- Sending caps and timezone windows sit beside the warmup.
- MCP and CLI are listed on the Email plan.
- Per-mailbox tech audit.
Cons
- The ramp steps are not published, so you cannot read the schedule in advance.
- No published API rate limit that we could find.
Best for: teams that run email, LinkedIn and calls from one tool and want warmup inside it.
Pricing: Email $69 a month ($55 billed yearly), Multichannel $109 ($87 billed yearly) (lemlist pricing, October 2026).
4. MailReach: best for warmup plus spam testing on any SMTP host
MailReach sells warmup per mailbox at $25 a month, and the plan includes 20 spam test credits. It works with any provider that supports SMTP and caps warmup at up to 100 emails a day (MailReach pricing, October 2026).
It also checks blacklists, SPF, DKIM and DMARC, and tracks reputation on a dashboard. Annual billing saves 20%, and agencies get custom pricing.
MailReach has a documented REST API with a bearer key. It connects inboxes, enables warming and pulls account statistics, and the API itself is free to call. You pay for spam test credits and warming seats (MailReach API docs, October 2026). The docs also list an MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code and Cursor.
Pros
- Standalone: works with any sender, not tied to a sequencer.
- API and MCP are both documented.
- Spam tests and DNS checks come with the warmup.
- Flat per-mailbox price that is easy to forecast.
Cons
- $25 a mailbox adds up on large fleets, and volume discounts are quote-only.
- The 100 emails a day ceiling is lower than some rivals.
- The warmup schedule steps are not published.
Best for: teams that send from several tools and want warmup separate from the sender.
Pricing: $25 per mailbox a month with 20 spam test credits (MailReach pricing, October 2026).
5. Warmy: best for seed-list tests and DMARC alongside warmup
Warmy bundles warmup with deliverability checks. Plans start at $49 a month, with a 7-day trial and no card. The plan includes a reputation tracker, Google Postmaster data, list verification and DMARC monitoring (Warmy pricing, October 2026).
Warmy states a network of over 1 million mailboxes and a US seed list of 500,000 or more. These are vendor figures. Pricing is volume-based, so you pay for the warmup emails you need generated.
The pricing page lists full API access, a dedicated deliverability expert and 24/7 human support. We found no published rate limit or MCP server.
Pros
- Google Postmaster data and a seed list inside the same product.
- DMARC monitoring and list verification are included.
- Full API access is listed.
- Human support and an assigned expert.
Cons
- Volume-based pricing makes the bill harder to forecast than a flat per-mailbox rate.
- No published API rate limit or MCP server that we could find.
Best for: deliverability-minded teams that want seed tests and DMARC with the warmup.
Pricing: from $49 a month, volume-based (Warmy pricing, October 2026).
6. Warmup Inbox: best for the cheapest per mailbox, with scheduled warmup
Warmup Inbox has the lowest entry price here. Freemium is $0 with 15 warmup emails a week. Basic is $15 per inbox a month for 75 warmup messages a day. Pro is $49 for 250 a day. Max is $79 for 1,000 a day (Warmup Inbox pricing, October 2026).
For schedule control, Pro is the tier to look at. It adds custom warmup settings, scheduled warmup, your own templates, topics and language, and specific-ESP warmup. Basic has no custom ramp. The list price falls as you add inboxes.
The vendor states a network of more than 30,000 real inboxes (Warmup Inbox, October 2026). A developers API is on Basic, and unlimited developers API is on Max. We found no MCP server.
Pros
- Lowest per-mailbox price, plus a free tier for testing.
- Scheduled warmup and custom settings on Pro.
- Daily message ceilings are published per tier.
- Developers API on every paid tier.
Cons
- The control you want sits on Pro at $49 per inbox, not Basic.
- Smaller network than the 1M-account pools of rivals.
Best for: small senders and freelancers who need a cheap ramp and a free tier to try it.
Pricing: Freemium $0, Basic $15, Pro $49, Max $79 per inbox a month (Warmup Inbox pricing, October 2026).
7. LeadOcean: best for the verified list you send after the ramp
LeadOcean does not warm mailboxes. It is a people and company data API with a hosted MCP server. It covers the other half of a ramp: who you send to once the warmup gates pass. A cold domain should get verified addresses only, because early bounces do the most damage.
You size the list for free. Send count=true and limit=1 as query parameters to POST /v1/people/search with emailStatus: ["verified"] in the body, and meta.total tells you how many match (LeadOcean API, September 2026). The same count runs from the leadocean_count_leads MCP tool, one of 13 tools (LeadOcean MCP, October 2026).
Then pull one week of prospects per ramp step instead of the whole list. Our domain warmup guide has the exact queries.
Pros
- Free count calls, so you size the list before you spend a record.
- An
emailStatusfilter with 13 values, includingverifiedandcatch_all_valid. - API and a 13-tool MCP server on every plan, including Free.
- Flat pricing with a fair-use pace, not credits.
Cons
- It does not warm up or send. You still need a tool from this list.
- Free is 1,000 records, one-off, and bulk CSV export is not on Free.
- A count with
emailStatusis a verified-address count, not a promise of zero bounces.
Best for: teams that feed a warmup ramp with small, verified batches from an API or an agent.
Pricing: Free $0 (1,000 records, 5 requests a second), Solo $97 a month, Agency $497 a month, Platform $1,997 a month (LeadOcean pricing, October 2026).

How to choose
- You send from one sequencer already: use its built-in warmup. Instantly if you want unlimited mailboxes, Smartlead if you want the ramp to pause itself.
- You run many client mailboxes: Smartlead for per-mailbox ramps, or MailReach if each client uses a different sender.
- You send from several tools: MailReach, because warmup stays separate from the sender.
- You want seed tests and DMARC in one place: Warmy.
- You are on a tight budget: Warmup Inbox, starting on the free tier, and move to Pro only if you need scheduled warmup.
- You need a list for the ramp: LeadOcean. Count free, then pull verified batches by week.
Verdict
Smartlead wins for teams that want the ramp to protect itself, because it pauses on bounce and spam signals and resumes on its own. Instantly wins on warmup cost for large mailbox fleets, since warmup is unlimited on every plan. MailReach wins for anyone who needs warmup separate from the sender, with a documented API and MCP. Warmup Inbox wins on price per mailbox, and Warmy on seed tests and DMARC. lemlist fits teams already in its multichannel tool. LeadOcean wins on the other half of the job: a verified list you can size for free through an API or an agent. Pair one warmup tool with it.
FAQ
How long should an email warmup schedule run?
Plan on about four weeks for a new domain, and adjust to your own bounce and spam numbers. Providers publish no official schedule. Google asks senders to keep the spam rate below 0.10% and never reach 0.30% (Google sender guidelines, September 2026). Move up a step only when those numbers stay flat.
Does the warmup tool set the schedule, or do I?
Both, depending on the tool. Instantly uses a fixed slow ramp of 2, 4, 6 and so on, while Smartlead scales on its own. Warmup Inbox gives you scheduled warmup on Pro. Check whether you can read the ramp before you pay.
Can I run a warmup tool and send real campaigns at the same time?
Yes. The warmup keeps running while you add real prospects in small batches. Keep the real volume inside your own ramp gates, and send cold mail to verified addresses only until the domain has history.
How do I test which warmup tool works best?
Run a 14-day test with equal mailboxes. Buy matching new mailboxes on the same host, one per tool. Send the same plain-text message to a seed list on day 14 and compare inbox, spam and promotions placement. Read Google Postmaster data for the domain. We have not run this test, so we publish no result.
Is a bigger warmup network always better?
Not by itself. Vendors state pools from 30,000 to over 1,000,000 inboxes, all unaudited. Pool quality and pause rules matter as much as size.
Where does LeadOcean fit in a warmup plan?
After the ramp gates, as the source of the list. Count verified matches free with count=true, then pull one week of prospects at a time. The domain warmup guide has the full steps, and email personalization covers what to write once the list is ready.
