Explorium alternatives

7 Best Explorium Alternatives in 2026 (Compared)

Seven data tools for teams that outgrow Explorium's credit packs and 200-a-minute limit, ranked for API and volume buyers, with the cost of 1M records a month.

Get your free API key →Free to start. No credit card. 1,000 records to spend whenever you like.

Teams leave Explorium over cost, pace and shape. Every call spends prepaid credits, from $0.06 each on Lite down to $0.015 on Scale. Packs expire after 12 months and are not refundable (Explorium pricing, September 2026). The default limit is 200 queries a minute per key, and each row in a bulk request counts as one query (Explorium docs, September 2026).

A work email costs 2 credits and a phone costs 5 (Explorium docs, September 2026). So 1M email lookups need 2M credits, which is four Scale packs of 500K credits at $7,499.99 each, about $30,000. A contact lookup also takes a match call before the enrich call, so one person is two requests.

This page ranks seven alternatives for API and volume buyers, with the 1M-record cost for each. For a two-column view, read LeadOcean vs Explorium. For developer-only tools, see Explorium API alternatives.

"1M records" means 1M work-email lookups that return a result, at one credit each where the vendor uses credits. Where no public plan sells that volume, the cell says so. Enterprise quotes are lower, so ask each vendor at your volume.

What we evaluated

  • Price model: flat fee, credits, seats or quote, and what 1M records cost at list price.
  • API limits: the default rate, and whether a bulk row counts as one request or many.
  • MCP: whether an agent can search and enrich through the vendor's server, and how it signs in.
  • Bulk pulls: rows per request and whether big jobs run in a loop or need a sales call.
  • What you give up: events, intent, phone verification and rep tools that Explorium or the rival has.

We read each vendor's pricing page and docs in September 2026. We ran no find-rate or accuracy test, so we quote no quality numbers.

1. LeadOcean: best for API, agent and volume buyers

LeadOcean is one dataset behind one REST API and one MCP server. It holds 693M people, 366M with an email and 166M with a phone number, plus 63M companies. You search with 50 people filters and 34 company filters. Counts are free.

The price does not move with volume. Pro is $499 a month with unlimited searches, enrichments and lookups, 5 API keys and 100 requests per second per key. There are no credits and no overage invoice. A very large month is paced down to one request a minute until the reset, not cut off.

The schema is simpler than Explorium's. One call takes a LinkedIn URL and returns the profile, so there is no match step first. The MCP server at https://api.leadocean.io/mcp signs in with OAuth 2.1 and has 12 tools, including count_leads, which sizes an audience for free. Exports run up to 50,000 rows per request with POST /v1/exports.

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/people/enrich" \
  -H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{"linkedin_url":"https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe","reveal_email":true}'

Pros

  • Flat $499 a month at any volume, with no credit meter.
  • 100 requests per second per key on every plan, Free included.
  • Free counts, and a person we hold nothing for is a free 404.
  • Every record carries one of 13 email statuses, from verified to spam_trap.

Cons

  • No event stream or intent data, which Explorium sells.
  • No rep workspace, sequencer or dialer. You export to your own tools.
  • One dataset, so a niche source needs a second tool.

Best for: engineers, RevOps and agents that need volume and a fixed bill.

Pricing: Free is 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).

2. People Data Labs: best for open-schema person data and licensed files

people-data-labs homepage

People Data Labs (PDL) is the closest match to Explorium's developer experience. It is a person and company data API with annual dataset licences. One credit buys one successful match or one profile returned, and a request that finds nothing is not billed (PDL docs, September 2026).

The data is large. PDL lists 2.47 billion profiles in its full person dataset, 592 million of them with an email (PDL docs, September 2026). Datasets can also be licensed as files and delivered to S3, GCP or Azure (PDL docs, September 2026). If you want to own the data in your warehouse, that is the reason to pick PDL.

Pace and price are the catch. Pro starts at $98 a month for 350 credits. PDL says Pro profiles cost about $0.20 to $0.28 each (PDL pricing, September 2026; PDL blog, February 2026). Enrichment allows 1,000 requests a minute on paid plans, but Person Search defaults to 10 a minute (PDL docs, September 2026). PDL's docs index lists no official MCP server (PDL docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • Enrichment allows 1,000 requests a minute on paid plans.
  • Query on any person field, with licensed files for your own warehouse.
  • Requests that find nothing are not billed.
  • A free tier of 100 credits a month with contact data obscured.

Cons

  • About $0.20 to $0.28 a profile, and no public 1M price.
  • Person Search defaults to 10 requests a minute.
  • No official MCP server, so an agent needs a wrapper you host.
  • Self-serve stops near 100,000 profiles, then it is quote only.

Best for: data teams that license files or want an open person schema.

Pricing: Free up to 100 credits a month. Pro from $98 a month for 350 credits. Enterprise is custom (PDL pricing, September 2026).

3. Prospeo: best for cheap verified emails by credit

Prospeo is an email and mobile finder with a REST API and a hosted MCP server. Plans are priced per user. Credits go into one shared team pool and expire at the end of each cycle (Prospeo help center, September 2026).

A verified email costs 1 credit and a mobile costs 10. One search request that returns results costs 1 credit for up to 25 results, and those results carry no contact data. A lookup that finds nothing costs 0. Starter is $49 per user a month for 2,000 credits, which is $0.0245 a credit. Pro is $249 for 15,000 (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).

The API limits matter at volume. Enrichment runs at 5 requests a second on Starter and Growth and 30 on Pro. Search runs at 1, 2 and 5 a second by plan (Prospeo rate limits, September 2026). The MCP server has 8 tools and signs in with OAuth 2.0 or an API key (Prospeo MCP docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • Low credit price for verified emails, down to $0.0125 on yearly Pro.
  • Misses and repeat lookups inside 90 days are free.
  • Hosted MCP server with OAuth.
  • A Chrome extension, if your reps prospect in a browser.

Cons

  • A mobile costs 10 credits, ten times an email.
  • Search returns 25 results a page with no email, so you pay again to enrich.
  • No tier reaches 1M. The cheapest public path is 44 Pro seats plus a 350,000-credit add-on.
  • Free plan API access is unclear: the pricing table and the help center disagree.

Best for: teams that buy verified emails by the tens of thousands and accept a credit meter.

Pricing: Free, Starter $49, Growth $99 and Pro $249 per user a month, billed monthly (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).

4. ZoomInfo: best for data by API from a large vendor

ZoomInfo sells two ways. The platform is an annual subscription, and most paid plans bill annually upfront (ZoomInfo, September 2026). The API route is GTM AI, a ZoomInfo product with API, MCP and CLI access on pay-as-you-go credits (GTM AI pricing, September 2026). This page covers GTM AI, because that is the one comparable to Explorium.

Signup gives 1,000 data credits and 1,000 AI credits with no card. Data credits then list from $0.45 each down to $0.25 at 100,000 credits ($25,000). One credit enriches or exports one company, contact or intent record, and it is charged once per record per 12 months. Search and lookup are free (GTM AI docs, September 2026).

The slider stops at 100,000 credits, so there is no public 1M price. Rate limits run from 5 requests a second on Builder to 35 on Scaling. Batch enrichment takes 25 records per call (ZoomInfo docs, September 2026; ZoomInfo docs, September 2026). ZoomInfo claims 500M+ contacts and 100M+ companies (ZoomInfo, September 2026).

Pros

  • Free search and lookup, so you narrow a list before you spend a credit.
  • A record is charged once per 12 months, so repeat enrichment is free.
  • Official MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor.
  • Credits do not expire while the account is active.

Cons

  • $0.25 to $0.45 a data credit, and 100,000 credits is the top of the self-serve slider.
  • Free tier is 5 requests a second.
  • The MCP server needs a GTM AI account or a ZoomInfo subscription with data credits.
  • Platform plans are annual contracts quoted by sales.

Best for: teams that want ZoomInfo data in code and can stay under 100,000 credits.

Pricing: 1,000 data credits free. Pay as you go from $20, then $0.45 down to $0.25 a credit (GTM AI pricing, September 2026).

5. Apollo: best for teams that want a database and a sequencer

apollo homepage

Apollo is a sales platform with a contact database attached. It lists 240 million contacts and 30 million companies, plus sequences, a dialer and a Chrome extension (Apollo pricing, September 2026). It ranks fifth because its pricing is built on seats, not volume.

Monthly billing is $65 per seat for Basic with 2,500 credits, $99 for Professional with 4,000 and $149 for Organization with 6,000. Billed yearly, Basic is $49 per seat with 30,000 credits a year. An email costs 1 credit and a phone number 8. Credits are pooled, expire each cycle and do not roll over (Apollo pricing, September 2026; Apollo docs, September 2026).

Every plan includes API access, and the MCP server works on any plan, Free included. Limits are per team. General endpoints allow 200 requests a minute and 2,000 a day on Basic and Professional. Enrichment endpoints allow 1,000 a minute on paid plans (Apollo docs, September 2026). The price of extra credits is not public.

Pros

  • Database, sequences, dialer and Chrome extension in one workspace.
  • MCP server on every plan, with OAuth or an API key.
  • Enrichment allows 1,000 requests a minute on paid plans.

Cons

  • Seats and credits both scale the bill, and credits expire each cycle.
  • General endpoints are capped per team at 2,000 requests a day on Basic and Professional.
  • A phone number costs 8 credits.
  • The price of add-on credits is not published.

Best for: sales reps who prospect and send from one workspace.

Pricing: Free. Basic $65, Professional $99, Organization $149 per seat a month. Billed yearly, $49, $79 and $119 (Apollo pricing, September 2026).

6. Lusha: best for reps who reveal contacts in a browser

lusha homepage

Lusha is a contact data platform with a Chrome extension, CRM apps, a REST API and an MCP server. Its homepage lists 525M+ contacts and 29M+ companies (Lusha, September 2026). It is sold on credits, and every plan gets an API key.

An email costs 1 credit and a phone number 5. A bulk request takes up to 100 records and adds 1 credit per 25 results. So 1M work emails by bulk API need about 1,040,000 credits (Lusha API guide, September 2026). The top public tier is Premium at 10,000 credits a month, so 1M is far past any listed plan. Scale is custom.

Rate limits are per key and rise by plan. Pro allows 50 requests a minute and 1,500 a day. Premium allows 300 a minute and 18,000 a day (Lusha API guide, September 2026). The MCP server has 50 tools and shares the REST credit pool (Lusha MCP docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • Chrome extension and native Salesforce, HubSpot and Pipedrive apps.
  • MCP server with 50 tools, including more than data lookups.
  • A free plan with 40 credits a month and an API key.

Cons

  • Bulk requests stop at 100 records, so a million rows is 10,000 calls.
  • Daily key limits are tight on lower plans.
  • Lusha's own docs disagree on whether a no-match request costs a credit.
  • No public price at 1M.

Best for: sales reps who reveal emails and phones inside LinkedIn and their CRM.

Pricing: Free. Starter $49.90 a month, Pro $69.90, Premium $399.90. Billed yearly, $37.45, $52.45 and $299.95 (Lusha pricing, September 2026).

7. Cognism: best for phone-verified mobiles for dialing teams

cognism homepage

Cognism is a sales intelligence platform built around phone-verified mobiles. It publishes no dollar price. The pricing page lists Standard and Pro plans with 5 seats each and says pricing is tailored to product, team setup and usage (Cognism pricing, September 2026).

One credit reveals one contact. Each seat includes an allocation, and the same credits work across the app, enrichment and the API. Cognism claims over 10 million phone-verified contacts and Do Not Call cross-referencing in 15 territories (Cognism Diamond Data, September 2026). Pro adds intent data from Bombora.

The API needs a package that includes it. Auth is OAuth 2.0 client credentials, and the limit is 500 requests a minute per account, per operation (Cognism docs, September 2026). Search pages return 1 to 100 records. The MCP server has 15 tools and signs in with OAuth (Cognism docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • Phone-verified mobiles and Do Not Call checks for call teams.
  • Intent data on Pro.
  • MCP server and API share the same credits.
  • Search pages of up to 100 records.

Cons

  • No public price at any tier, so you cannot size 1M records before a sales call.
  • API and MCP access depend on your package.
  • Sold in seats and credits, which is a poor fit for a pipeline or an agent.

Best for: sales teams that phone mobiles and want verified numbers.

Pricing: Quote only. Standard and Pro plans, no prices listed (Cognism pricing, September 2026).

Verdict

LeadOcean wins for buyers who pull data through an API, an agent or at volume. It has one flat price, a 100 requests per second limit and an MCP server that returns records. People Data Labs wins for an open person schema and licensed files, and Prospeo for the cheapest verified emails on credits. ZoomInfo wins if you want its data without a platform deal. Apollo and Lusha win for reps who work in a tool, and Cognism for teams that dial mobiles. Stay on Explorium if you need its events and intent. Otherwise start on the free plan and compare the same lookups.
