People leave Hunter.io when an email finder turns into a data pipeline. Hunter bills 1 credit per email found and 0.5 per verification, and the top self-serve plan, Scale, includes 25,000 credits a month (Hunter pricing, September 2026). Email Finder and Domain Search allow 500 requests a minute, so 1M single lookups take about 33 hours (Hunter API docs, September 2026). Domain Search returns at most 100 emails per call, and every lookup starts from a domain.
That suits a rep who finds one address and sends from the same tool. It is a poor fit for code or an agent that pulls millions of records.
This page ranks seven alternatives for API and volume buyers. LeadOcean is first because it has one flat price and an MCP server that returns records. For a two-column view, see LeadOcean vs Hunter.io. For API-only options, read Hunter.io API alternatives.
TL;DR
| Tool | Best for | Starting price | Cost at 1M records a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| LeadOcean | API, agent and volume buyers | Free (1,000 records, one-off). Pro $499 a month | $499 a month flat. Fair use applies |
| BlitzAPI | Flat-price people and company search by API | Core $399 a month. Plus $499 adds verified emails | $499 on Plus, inside its 15M monthly results limit (accounts opened by September 30, 2026) |
| LeadMagic | Low per-credit price for valid emails | Essential $99 a month for 5,000 credits | No public 1M price. Top public tier is Ultimate, $849 a month for 100,000 credits ($0.00849 a credit) |
| FullEnrich | Waterfall emails and mobiles behind an API | Pro $29 a month for 500 credits ($26 billed yearly) | No public 1M price. Top public tier is 100,000 credits for $3,500 a month ($0.035 a credit) |
| Findymail | Verified emails with a bounce guarantee | Not published. See Findymail's pricing page | Not published |
| Anymail Finder | Pay-per-result email lookups, bulk jobs | $29 a month for 400 credits | $4,990 one-time on the 1M credit pack |
| Prospeo | Reps who want an extension and pay-as-you-go emails | Starter $49 per user a month | $14,456 a month on monthly billing (44 Pro seats plus a 350,000-credit add-on), or $11,223 billed once yearly |
"1M records" here means 1M work-email lookups that return a result, one credit each where the vendor uses credits. Where a vendor sells no plan at that volume, the cell says so and names the top public tier. Anymail Finder prices are USD list prices from its pricing page USD view, and the page shows CAD to visitors in Canada. For comparison, Hunter sells 1,000,000 Search credits for $6,900 on its Data Platform, bought once and valid 12 months (Hunter Data Platform, September 2026). Enterprise quotes can be lower, so ask each vendor at your volume.
What we evaluated
- API access: which plan opens it, what a lookup takes as input, and the default rate limit.
- MCP: whether an agent can search and enrich through the server, or only read documentation.
- Price model: flat, credits or seats, and what 1M records a month costs at list price.
- Data: stated coverage, email and phone fields, and whether you can search before you pay.
- Limits that bite: plan ceilings, daily caps, phone restrictions and fair-use clauses.
We read each vendor's pricing page and docs in September 2026. We ran no find-rate or accuracy test for this page, so we quote no quality numbers.
1. LeadOcean: best for API, agent and volume buyers
LeadOcean is one dataset behind one REST API and one MCP server. It holds 693M people, 366M with an email and 166M with a phone number, plus 63M companies. You search with 50 people filters and 34 company filters, and counts are free. Enrichment is POST /v1/people/enrich, phones are GET /v2/people/phone, and exports run up to 50,000 rows per request.
The difference from Hunter is where you start. Hunter starts from a domain you already know. LeadOcean starts from the audience you want: filter by title, seniority, country, industry or funding, size the list for free, then pull it. The app also has an Exports page with a filter builder, a column picker and the record price before you start.
curl -X POST https://api.leadocean.io/v1/exports \
-H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" -H "content-type: application/json" \
-d '{
"name": "CTOs in Germany",
"filters": { "title": ["CTO"], "country": ["DE"], "emailStatus": ["verified"] },
"limit": 5000,
"preset": "full"
}'The price does not move with volume. Pro is $499 a month with unlimited searches, enrichments and lookups, 5 API keys and 100 requests per second per key. There are no credits and no overage invoice. A very large month is paced down to one request a minute until the reset, not cut off.
The MCP server at https://api.leadocean.io/mcp signs in with OAuth 2.1 and exposes 12 tools, from search_leads to find_phone and export_leads. Claude, Cursor or your own agent can pull records directly.
Pros
- Flat $499 a month at any volume, with no credit meter.
- REST and MCP on every plan, including Free.
- Email status on every record, from
verifiedtospam_trap. - Free counts, and a miss on
POST /v1/people/enrichis a free 404.
Cons
- No Chrome extension, sequencer, dialer or CRM. You send from another tool.
- No waterfall across other providers.
- One dataset, so a niche source needs another tool.
Best for: engineers, RevOps and agents that need volume and a fixed bill.
Pricing: Free is 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).
2. BlitzAPI: best for flat-price search and enrichment by API
BlitzAPI sells B2B data as an API on flat monthly plans. Its homepage lists people and company search, email and phone enrichment, jobs data and domain to LinkedIn matching (BlitzAPI, September 2026). It is the closest rival to LeadOcean on price model.
The plan ladder is where it gets fiddly. Core is $399 a month and leaves out emails and phones. Plus is $499 and adds verified work emails. Full is $599 and adds US phone numbers (BlitzAPI pricing, September 2026). If you enrich for contact data, you buy Plus or Full.
Two details matter if you are coming from Hunter. The work-email endpoint takes a LinkedIn URL, not a name and a domain (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026). And its MCP server gives an assistant the API documentation, not the data (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026).
The 50 requests per second are tied to accounts opened by September 30, 2026, against a standard 5. Limits also apply per endpoint (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026).
Pros
- Flat monthly price, with a stated limit of 15,000,000 results a month for accounts opened by September 30, 2026. Limits for accounts opened later are not published.
- Jobs data and identity resolution sit next to people and company search.
- A free trial of 1,000 credits with no card.
Cons
- Three paid tiers, and phones need the top one.
- Phone numbers are US only on Full.
- The MCP server reads docs. An agent cannot search or enrich through it.
- The fast rate limit depends on when the account opened.
Best for: teams that want a flat-price search and enrichment API and run their own code.
Pricing: Core $399, Plus $499, Full $599 a month (BlitzAPI pricing, September 2026).
3. LeadMagic: best for a low per-credit price on valid emails
LeadMagic is a credit-based enrichment API. It lists 400M+ people profiles and 25M+ companies, and reaches them through REST, CSV, a command-line tool and a hosted MCP server (LeadMagic, September 2026). Failed lookups cost nothing, the same pay-on-find rule Hunter uses.
The credit price falls as you climb the plans. Essential is $99 a month for 5,000 credits. Professional is $499 for 50,000. Ultimate is $849 for 100,000, or $0.00849 a credit (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026). A valid email costs 1 credit and a mobile costs 5.
The Email Finder endpoint allows 600 requests a minute, close to Hunter's 500. LeadMagic also states that a sustained find rate below 10% can lead to throttling or suspension (LeadMagic docs, September 2026). A bad input list carries a real risk. The MCP server uses OAuth, and a preview_cost call shows the price of a large job first (LeadMagic docs, September 2026).
Pros
- A low per-credit list price: $0.00849 on Ultimate.
- No charge when an email is not found.
- Hosted MCP with a cost preview before large operations.
Cons
- The top public plan is 100,000 credits, so there is no public price at 1M a month. Extrapolating Ultimate's rate gives $8,490, which is arithmetic, not a plan.
- A smaller stated database: 400M+ people profiles.
- A minimum find-rate policy can throttle lists with poor match rates.
Best for: teams that enrich a few hundred thousand valid emails a month and want cheap credits.
Pricing: Essential $99, Growth $249, Professional $499, Ultimate $849 a month (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026).
4. FullEnrich: best for waterfall emails and mobiles behind an API
FullEnrich queries 25+ sources for each contact and charges only for data it finds (FullEnrich pricing, September 2026). Where Hunter searches its own index, FullEnrich asks several vendors in turn. Its pricing page lists API access, people and company search and an MCP server on Pro.
Credits are the meter. A work email costs 1 credit, a personal email 3 and a mobile 10. Pro starts at $29 a month for 500 credits ($0.058 each). The 1,000-credit tier is $55 a month ($0.055 each), and the top monthly tier is 100,000 credits for $3,500 ($0.035 each). Above that, you contact sales. The yearly toggle lists 1,200,000 credits a year for $37,800 billed yearly (FullEnrich pricing, September 2026). Search costs 0.25 credits per person returned (FullEnrich docs, September 2026). A mobile costs $0.58 at the entry tier.
The API allows 60 calls a minute, with up to 100 contacts in a bulk request. Higher limits are an Enterprise feature (FullEnrich docs, September 2026). The MCP server can search, enrich and export, and it asks you before it spends credits (FullEnrich help, September 2026).
Pros
- Waterfall across 25+ sources, so one call can cover several vendors.
- Mobiles and personal emails, not only work addresses.
- Search, enrichment and export in the MCP server.
- SOC 2 Type II listed on the pricing page.
Cons
- Mobiles cost 10 credits each, so phone-heavy pulls get expensive fast.
- The default API limit is 60 calls a minute, below Hunter's 500.
- A credit meter at volume. There is no public price for 1M work emails. The highest public tier is 100,000 credits for $3,500 a month.
Best for: teams that want waterfall contact data, mostly emails and mobiles, through an API or an agent.
Pricing: Pro from $29 a month for 500 credits, up to $3,500 for 100,000, Enterprise custom (FullEnrich pricing, September 2026).
5. Findymail: best for verified emails with a bounce guarantee
Findymail is the closest match to Hunter's job. It resolves an email, verifies it when you ask and returns only verified addresses. It bills one credit per email found and 10 per phone number (Findymail API docs, September 2026). A lookup that finds no verified email costs nothing.
Findymail's pricing page blocks automated reading, so we state no plan price here. Read the plans on Findymail's pricing page. The bounce guarantee is advertised on that page, so confirm its terms there.
For code, the API uses Bearer auth and allows 300 concurrent requests. Phone lookups return US numbers only, and lead search is a plain-language query capped at 5,000 companies, with no structured filters in the docs (Findymail API docs, September 2026). The official MCP server has 14 tools (Findymail Cursor plugin, September 2026).
Pros
- Every email verified at lookup, and a stated bounce guarantee.
- A Chrome extension and one-click push to Instantly, Smartlead, Lemlist and Woodpecker.
- Official MCP server with 14 tools.
Cons
- Self-serve plans stop short of 1M a month, and there is no public price at that volume.
- Phones are US only and cost 10 credits.
- No structured search filters to segment by function or seniority.
Best for: outbound teams and agencies that want verified emails with a guarantee at modest volume.
Pricing: Not published here. See Findymail's pricing page.
6. Anymail Finder: best for pay-per-result lookups and big bulk jobs
Anymail Finder is a plain email finder. You send a name and a company, or a LinkedIn URL. It verifies an address live, and you pay one credit only when it finds a valid one (Anymail Finder pricing, September 2026).
Monthly plans run from $29 for 400 credits to $799 for 100,000 credits. The one-time 1M credit pack is $4,990 (Anymail Finder pricing, September 2026). These are USD list prices from the pricing page USD view, which is the same page with ?currency=usd. The page shows Canadian dollars to visitors in Canada.
Credit packs need no subscription and last 12 months. A decision-maker search costs 2 credits, and company search returns up to 20 verified emails for 1 credit.
The API states no rate limit. One bulk job takes up to 100,000 rows, twice LeadOcean's 50,000 per export request (Anymail Finder bulk docs, September 2026). The docs list person, decision-maker, company, LinkedIn and verify endpoints, with no search across a database and no phone lookup (Anymail Finder API docs, September 2026). Its API page lists an MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor (Anymail Finder, September 2026).
Assistants that support sign-in, including Claude, Cursor and ChatGPT, open a browser window on Anymail Finder's site where you approve the connection, with no API key. Clients that cannot sign in can pass an API key from Settings, API as a header (Anymail Finder MCP page, September 2026).
Pros
- Pay only when a verified email is found, and duplicates are free for 30 days.
- Subscription credits roll over while you stay subscribed.
- No stated rate limit and bulk jobs of 100,000 rows.
Cons
- No phone numbers and no company data beyond emails.
- No database search, so you must bring your own target list.
- Monthly plans top out at 100,000 credits a month, so 1M means the one-time pack.
Best for: teams that hold a list of names and domains and want verified emails back in bulk.
Pricing: $29 a month for 400 credits up to $799 for 100,000, or one-time packs (USD list prices from the pricing page USD view; the page shows CAD to visitors in Canada) (Anymail Finder pricing, September 2026).
7. Prospeo: best for reps who want an extension and pay-as-you-go emails
Prospeo is an email and mobile finder priced per user, with a REST API and an MCP server. One verified email costs 1 credit and one mobile costs 10. Company enrichment costs 1 credit, and so does each page of up to 25 search results (Prospeo help center, September 2026).
It ranks last for this buyer because the API and the price are gated by seats. Starter is $49 a month per user and Pro is $249 per seat. Add-ons start at 500 credits for $10 on monthly billing, and 1,000 credits cost $20 ($0.02 a credit). The rate falls to $0.01 at 350,000 a month and $0.009 at 500,000 a year (Prospeo pricing, September 2026). No add-on reaches 1M credits in a month. Plans include a Chrome extension.
The cheapest public path to 1M a month is 44 Pro seats at $249 plus the 350,000-credit add-on at $3,500, which is $14,456 a month for 1,010,000 credits. Billed yearly, 3 Pro seats at $2,241 a year plus the 500,000-credit yearly add-on at $4,500 is $11,223 billed once for 1,040,000 credits upfront. Yearly seats cannot be mixed with a monthly add-on.
Free plan API access is disputed. The pricing table shows no Public API on Free. The help center lists limited access (1 request a second, 20 a minute, 50 a day). The API docs say free API access for all users (Prospeo help center, September 2026). Its rate limits page lists Starter, Growth and Pro only. Prospeo's own pages disagree, so do not plan production on a Free key and confirm access when you sign up.
Limits are per plan. Enrich allows 5 requests a second on Starter and Growth and 30 on Pro, with daily caps of 2,000, 5,000 and 500,000 (Prospeo rate limits, September 2026). Search returns 25 results a page and stops at 25,000 per search (Prospeo search docs, September 2026). The hosted MCP server has 8 tools and signs in with OAuth 2.0 or an API key (Prospeo MCP docs, September 2026).
Pros
- A Chrome extension on every plan, so reps can prospect in the browser.
- No charge when no result is found (Prospeo enrich docs, September 2026).
- Hosted MCP server with OAuth.
Cons
- Per-seat plans plus a credit meter.
- Enrich is capped at 2,000 requests a day on Starter.
- Search stops at 25,000 results and returns no contact data.
Best for: small sales teams that want an extension, CRM sync and pay-as-you-go emails.
Pricing: Free with 100 credits a month. Starter from $49 per user a month (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).

Sources are linked in each tool section, all checked in September 2026. Vendors change plans often, so confirm on the pricing page before you buy. The 1M column is list-price arithmetic on email lookups. LeadMagic and FullEnrich sell no plan at 1M, so their cells name the top public tier. Findymail's prices are on its own pricing page, which blocks automated reading, so we show none. Prospeo shows the cheapest public mix of seats and add-ons. Anymail Finder uses its 1M credit pack, in USD.

- You need waterfall emails and mobiles: FullEnrich, and budget 10 credits per mobile.
- You need a bounce guarantee and a sequencer push: Findymail.
- You have a list of names and domains and want bulk verified emails: Anymail Finder.
- Your reps prospect in the browser: Prospeo, or stay on Hunter.
- You find a few hundred emails a month and send from the same tool: stay on Hunter. Starter is $34 a month billed yearly.
Verdict
LeadOcean wins for API, agent and volume buyers. It has a flat price, emails and phones in one plan, and an MCP server that returns records. BlitzAPI is the flat-price runner-up if you run your own code. LeadMagic wins for cheap valid emails and FullEnrich for waterfall mobiles. Findymail wins for verified emails with a guarantee, Anymail Finder for bulk pay-per-result lookups and Prospeo for reps who want an extension. Stay on Hunter if you send from it and find under 25,000 emails a month. Otherwise start on the free plan and compare the same lookups.
FAQ
Why do teams leave Hunter.io?
Shape and volume. Hunter starts every lookup from a domain, bills 1 credit per email found and tops out at 25,000 credits on Scale (Hunter pricing, September 2026). Teams that use Hunter only as a data source often move to an API with a higher ceiling.
What is the cheapest Hunter.io alternative at volume?
At 1M records a month, LeadOcean at $499 flat and BlitzAPI Plus at $499 are cheapest on list price. Anymail Finder's 1M pack is next at $4,990, one time. Hunter's Data Platform sells 1M Search credits for $6,900, bought once. Findymail publishes no price we can read. LeadMagic and FullEnrich sell no plan at 1M, and Prospeo needs seats plus add-ons. Enterprise quotes narrow the gap.
What does Hunter.io cost at 1M records a month?
Hunter sells 1,000,000 Search credits for $6,900 on its Data Platform, bought once and valid 12 months (Hunter Data Platform, September 2026). Single-call endpoints at 500 requests a minute would also take about 33 hours.
Which Hunter.io alternative has an MCP server that returns data?
LeadOcean, LeadMagic, FullEnrich, Findymail and Prospeo all do. Anymail Finder's server also returns data. You approve the connection in a browser window, with no API key. BlitzAPI's server reads documentation only. Hunter has its own MCP server at mcp.hunter.io/mcp, included on every plan (Hunter MCP, September 2026).
Can I keep Hunter and add another data source?
Yes. Build the list in LeadOcean, keep the verified rows and send the catch_all rows through Hunter's Email Verifier at half a credit each. That way your Hunter credits go only to rows that need them.
Do I need a credit card to try LeadOcean?
No. The free plan needs a work email and no card. It gives you 1,000 records, one-off, with the same API and MCP server as Pro. See pricing.
