What you get
A company tech stack lookup returns one entry per technology found on the company's own website. There is no separate tech endpoint: the list is the company_detected_technologies block of the company record (leadocean.company.v1). Each entry names the product, its vendor and what it is for, with dates so you can tell a live tool from a retired one.
| Field | What it is | Example |
|---|---|---|
technology_product | The product detected | "Cloudflare" |
technology_vendor | The company that sells it | "Cloudflare, Inc." |
technology_category | What the technology is for | "Content Delivery Network" |
tags | Extra labels on the technology | "cdn" |
| first detected date | When we first saw it on the site | "2025-11-04" |
technology_last_detected_date | When we last saw it | "2026-08-21" |
company_number_of_detected_technologies | How many technologies the record lists | 47 |
The same call also returns firmographics (industry, headcount, headquarters) and two quality scores. Values we do not hold are null, never guessed.
What you send
| Input | Required | Note |
|---|---|---|
domain | One of the two | Website domain, for example acme.com. Preferred key. |
linkedin_url | One of the two | LinkedIn company page URL. |
There is no lookup by company name. With only a name, search companies first, then look up the domain you get back.
Three ways to run it
In the app
Not as a column. The Exports page at app.leadocean.io exports people, and its column list has no technology field. To check one company or a list of domains, use the API or an agent.
With the API
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/companies/enrich" \
-H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
-H "content-type: application/json" \
-d '{"domain":"acme.com"}'Read data.company_detected_technologies in the response. A hit carries meta.credits: 1. GET works too, with domain or linkedin_url as query parameters. Developer detail is on Company Tech Stack API.
From an AI agent
The MCP tool is leadocean_get_company. It takes domain or linkedin_url. Try: "Look up acme.com and list the analytics, CRM and hosting tools on its site, with last-detected dates." Setup is on Company Tech Stack over MCP.
To go the other way and find companies that run a given tool, filter company search by technologies or technologyCategories. Each company returned is 1 record.
What it costs
One lookup is 1 record, whether you send a domain or a LinkedIn URL. A 404 means we hold nothing for that company and costs nothing. Rejected requests (429, 402, 503) are never metered.
A company we hold but have not crawled still comes back as a record, with an empty technology list. That is 1 record, so check the technology count before you pay for a list.
Free gives you 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat, with no per-record price.
Worked example: you look up 10,000 domains and 9,200 are found. That is 9,200 records, and the 800 misses cost nothing. Free covers the first 1,000 once. On Pro the month is $499 whatever the count, inside fair use. See pricing.
Coverage
LeadOcean holds 63M companies. Technology data comes from website crawls and covers about 7.8M of them, roughly one company in eight. Outside that set the technology list is empty.
The spec calls the data a recent snapshot: counts are from the 2026-09-07 crawl and web enrichment has not run since. Sites change stacks, so read the last-detected date on each entry.
Accuracy and limits
- Website only. We detect what a site's pages reveal. Back-office tools with no web footprint, such as a billing system or an internal database, will not show.
- Dates matter. A technology last detected months ago may be retired. Filter on the date before you act on it.
- Nulls are honest. Unknown values are
null, and empty arrays come back empty, not missing. - Errors. 400 validation, 401 bad key, 403 missing scope, 404 not in our data, 429 too fast, 503 store unreachable. Every error has one shape:
success: falseand anerrorobject. - Rate limit. 100 requests per second per key, on every plan.
- Gap. We do not publish a precision or recall figure for detection. Spot-check a few domains you know before you trust it at scale.
FAQ
How do I find a company's tech stack?
Send its domain, or its LinkedIn company URL, to POST /v1/companies/enrich. The company_detected_technologies list is the stack. You can run the same lookup from an agent with leadocean_get_company.
Does a failed lookup use my records?
No. A 404 costs nothing, and neither does any rejected request. You pay 1 record for each company you receive.
Can I search by technology instead?
Yes. Company search takes technologies and technologyCategories filters, for example the category Analytics instead of naming each tool. Each company returned is 1 record, and sizing a search with count=true and limit=1 is free.
Why is the technology list empty?
We have not crawled that site, or it reveals no detectable tools. Coverage is about 7.8M of 63M companies. The rest of the record still comes back.
