Filter on employeeRange or minEmployees and maxEmployees, then count the people you can reach. Sizing is free.
Both filters read the company headcount on file. Use a bracket for speed, or exact bounds when a bracket cuts in the wrong place. Then add the people you want at those companies.
The filter
| Filter | Type | Example values | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
employeeRange | array of enum | ["11-50"], ["51-200", "201-500"] | One of 8 exact strings: 1-10, 11-50, 51-200, 201-500, 501-1000, 1001-5000, 5001-10000, 10001+. Coarser and faster. |
minEmployees | integer | 200 | Lower bound on company headcount. |
maxEmployees | integer | 500 | Upper bound on company headcount. |
A company with no headcount on file is never returned by minEmployees or maxEmployees. Bracket strings are exact: 51-200 works, 51 to 200 does not. Resolve them with leadocean_list_enum_values (name employee_range).
How many you can reach
Three live counts from leadocean_count_leads, run on 2026-10-01. Each uses the tool's default email statuses (verified, catch_all_valid or catch_all) and spent no records.
| Filters | Mailable people |
|---|---|
employeeRange 51-200, jobFunction Sales & Business Development, jobLevel VP and Director, country US | 49,968 |
employeeRange 11-50, jobLevel C-Team, hqCountry GB | 61,165 |
minEmployees 200, maxEmployees 500, jobFunction Information Technology, jobLevel C-Team, country DE | 197 |
These are people at matching companies, not a company count. country is where the person is. hqCountry is where the company is headquartered.
Run it from an AI agent
Connect the MCP server at https://api.leadocean.io/mcp (OAuth sign-in, no key pasted), then ask in plain words.
Find VPs and Directors of sales at US companies with 51 to 200 employees. Size it first, then show me 25.
The agent counts first with the free tool, then calls leadocean_search_leads with this:
{
"employeeRange": ["51-200"],
"jobFunction": ["Sales & Business Development"],
"jobLevel": ["VP", "Director"],
"country": ["US"],
"limit": 25
}The search costs 1 record per person returned. Use leadocean_search_companies instead when you want companies, not people. It costs 1 record per company.
Run it with the API
One flat JSON body to POST /v1/people/search. Filters are arrays of strings.
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/people/search" \
-H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"employeeRange": ["51-200"],
"jobFunction": ["Sales & Business Development"],
"jobLevel": ["VP", "Director"],
"country": ["US"],
"limit": 25
}'For the free sizing call, put count=true in the URL (not the body) and set limit to 1.
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/people/search?count=true" \
-H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"employeeRange": ["51-200"],
"jobFunction": ["Sales & Business Development"],
"jobLevel": ["VP", "Director"],
"country": ["US"],
"limit": 1
}'data comes back empty and meta.countOnly is true. meta.total stops at 100,000 on the REST API. POST /v1/companies/search takes the same three filters, and the same body returns companies.
Export the list
POST /v1/exports takes the same filters inside a filters object. One export is up to 50,000 rows, and an account can export 500,000 rows a day.
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/exports" \
-H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"name": "sales-leaders-51-200-us",
"filters": {
"employeeRange": ["51-200"],
"jobFunction": ["Sales & Business Development"],
"jobLevel": ["VP", "Director"],
"country": ["US"]
},
"limit": 5000,
"preset": "search"
}'Poll GET /v1/exports/{id}, then download. Prefer clicking? The Exports page in the app at app.leadocean.io has the filter builder, a column picker, the record price before you start, and a CSV download.
Combine it
- Add
jobFunctionandjobLevelto reach one buyer at those companies. Sales & Business Development plus VP and Director is the first count above. - Add
industry(for example["Computer Software"]) orhqCountry(for example["GB"]) to pick a market. The second count above useshqCountry. - Add
technologiesortechnologyCategoriesto keep companies that run a product. See find companies by technology.
To look up one company's headcount from its domain, use company headcount. To list companies that raised money lately, see find new companies. More ways to build a company list are on the find companies hub.
FAQ
Should I use a bracket or exact bounds?
Use employeeRange first. It is faster, and the 8 brackets cover most targeting. Use minEmployees and maxEmployees when you need a cut the brackets do not make, such as 200 to 500 as in the third count.
Can I mix a bracket with min and max?
You can send both, but pick one. They describe the same field, so a bracket plus bounds only narrows the list to the overlap.
What about companies with no headcount on file?
minEmployees and maxEmployees never return them. A company with no figure cannot match a bound, so the list can be shorter than you expect.
What does it cost?
Counting is free, as are list_filters and list_enum_values. A search costs 1 record per person or company returned. The free plan has 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Pro is $499 a month. See pricing.
