Filter on minLastFundingYear and fundingType, then size the people you can reach. Sizing is free.

A recently funded company has a new budget and a hiring plan. Both filters read the company's most recent funding round. You set the year floor and the round type, then add the size and region you sell into.

The filter

FilterTypeExample valuesNote
minLastFundingYearinteger2026, 2025Funded no earlier than this year. A company with no funding year on file is never returned. maxLastFundingYear sets the upper bound.
fundingTypearray of enum["Seed"], ["Series A", "Series B"]One of 23 exact strings, for the most recent round. Resolve with leadocean_list_enum_values (name funding_type).
investorsarray of strings["Acme Ventures"]Lead investor name keywords. Free text, not a closed list.

The year filter works at year level, not by month. For a tighter window, set minLastFundingYear to the current year.

Round names are exact. Series A works. series a round does not. The list includes Pre seed, Seed, Series A to Series D, Series E-J, Grant, Angel, Debt financing and 15 more.

How many you can reach

Three live counts from leadocean_count_leads, run on 2026-10-01. Each is mailable people: verified, catch_all_valid or catch_all email, the tool's default. They spent no records.

FiltersMailable people
jobLevel C-Team, hqCountry US, employeeRange 11-501,410,500
seniority founder and c_suite, hqCountry GB, employeeRange 11-50, industry Software Development3,049
jobFunction Sales & Business Development, jobLevel VP and Director, hqCountry US, employeeRange 51-20070,756

These are people at matching companies, not a company count. The count tool does not take fundingType or minLastFundingYear, so every number above is the pool before the funding filter. The funding filters narrow it at search time. Send the funding filters with ?count=true (see the API section) and read meta.total for the narrowed size, free.

Run it from an AI agent

Connect the MCP server at https://api.leadocean.io/mcp (OAuth sign-in, no key pasted), then ask in plain words.

Find US software companies with 11 to 50 employees that raised a Series A or Series B in 2025 or later. Show me 25.

The agent calls leadocean_search_companies with this:

json
{
  "fundingType": ["Series A", "Series B"],
  "minLastFundingYear": 2025,
  "hqCountry": ["US"],
  "employeeRange": ["11-50"],
  "industry": ["Software Development"],
  "limit": 25
}

The search costs 1 record per company returned. Use leadocean_search_leads with the same filters when you want the people.

Run it with the API

One flat JSON body to POST /v1/companies/search. Enum filters are arrays of strings.

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/companies/search" \
  -H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "fundingType": ["Series A", "Series B"],
    "minLastFundingYear": 2025,
    "hqCountry": ["US"],
    "employeeRange": ["11-50"],
    "industry": ["Software Development"],
    "limit": 25
  }'

For the free sizing call, put count=true in the URL (not the body) and set limit to 1.

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/companies/search?count=true" \
  -H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "fundingType": ["Series A", "Series B"],
    "minLastFundingYear": 2025,
    "hqCountry": ["US"],
    "employeeRange": ["11-50"],
    "limit": 1
  }'

data comes back empty and meta.countOnly is true. meta.total stops at 100,000. POST /v1/people/search takes the same filters.

Export the list

POST /v1/exports takes the same filters inside a filters object. One export is up to 50,000 rows, and an account can export 500,000 rows a day.

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/exports" \
  -H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "name": "funded-us-software",
    "filters": {
      "fundingType": ["Series A", "Series B"],
      "minLastFundingYear": 2025,
      "hqCountry": ["US"],
      "employeeRange": ["11-50"]
    },
    "limit": 5000,
    "preset": "search"
  }'

Poll GET /v1/exports/{id}, then download. Prefer clicking? The Exports page at app.leadocean.io has the filter builder, a column picker, the record price before you start, and a CSV download.

Combine it

  • Add jobLevel and jobFunction to reach the buyer at the funded company. See find recently hired decision makers.
  • Add employeeRange and hqCountry to keep one size and region. See find companies.
  • Add minFounded to keep young companies only. See find new companies.

More ways to build a list are in the lead sources hub.

FAQ

Can I filter on the exact date a round closed?

No. The filters take a year, minLastFundingYear and maxLastFundingYear, not a day or month.

Why does the count not use the funding filter?

leadocean_count_leads does not support fundingType or minLastFundingYear. Size without them, then send the funding filters with ?count=true on the search endpoint for the narrowed total.

Does a company with no funding data show up?

No. A company with no funding year or round type on file is never returned when you use these filters.

What does it cost?

Counting is free, as are list_filters and list_enum_values. A search costs 1 record per company or person returned. The free plan has 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Pro is $499 a month. See pricing.
