Paste a LinkedIn URL into Claude. It reads the profile through LeadOcean and drafts one first line from facts on the record. It works in any MCP client: connect https://api.leadocean.io/mcp first, setup is on the MCP page.
The prompt
Draft a cold email first line for this person: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe
1. Call leadocean_get_lead with the linkedin_url. Do not set reveal_email.
I only need the profile fields.
2. Use only these fields: headline, current job title, company name,
company size, industry and country. Do not invent anything else.
If the call returns nothing, say "not found" and stop.
3. Write one first line under 25 words. Name one concrete fact from the
profile. No flattery, no "I came across your profile".
4. Take that person's job level, job function, company size and industry.
Call leadocean_list_enum_values for the exact strings, then call
leadocean_count_leads with them and country US.
Report the count and the filters. Do not call leadocean_search_leads.What it resolves to
Step 4 turns the profile into a filter set. Here is what it resolved to for a placeholder VP of Sales at a 51 to 200 person software company in the US.
| Filter | Value |
|---|---|
| jobLevel | VP |
| jobFunction | Sales & Business Development |
| employeeRange | 51-200 |
| industry | Software Development |
| country | US |
Enum values are exact strings, so step 4 looks them up instead of guessing.
How many match
1,603 mailable people matched on 2 October 2026. Filters: jobLevel VP, jobFunction Sales & Business Development, employeeRange 51-200, industry Software Development, country US.
Mailable means verified, catch_all_valid or catch_all, the count_leads default. The count is free. It is the pool of people you could write a similar first line for.
What you get back
Claude returns the profile fields and the line. These are placeholder values, not a real record.
| Job title | Company size | Industry | Country |
|---|---|---|---|
| VP of Sales | 51-200 | Software Development | US |
First line: "Running sales at a 100 person software company means your team lives in the CRM. Worth a look at how you source accounts?"
The enrichment record holds the headline and current role, not career history. So the line cannot cite a past job or a post.
Variations
- Add "also draft a second line that mentions the company's industry" to get two options per person.
- Change step 3 to "write the line in a plain, two-sentence tone, no question" for a softer open.
- Swap step 4 for "count the same job level and function in country GB" to size the UK pool.
Records it spends
leadocean_get_lead costs 1 record per person. A person LeadOcean holds nothing for costs nothing. leadocean_list_enum_values and leadocean_count_leads are free. Free gives you 1,000 records one-off with no card. Pro is $499 a month. See pricing.
