Swordfish AI is a phone and personal-email finder sold as unlimited lookups per seat. LeadOcean is a people and company data API at $499 a month, with REST and MCP on every plan. If you pull data in code or through an agent, LeadOcean is the better fit. If you work in a Chrome extension all day, Swordfish is built for that.

Why teams switch from Swordfish AI

The API is on the Teams plan only

Solo at $99 a month has no API or CSV enrichment. Teams has both, and it is sold on annual billing only (FullEnrich, April 2026; UpLead, August 2026).

"Unlimited" comes with an unpublished limit

Swordfish says a usage boundary exists and should be written down (Swordfish, September 2026). Reviewers report 150 to 200 lookups a day on Solo, and phone reveals burn the budget about ten times faster than emails (FullEnrich, April 2026).

Access ends the day you cancel

Swordfish credits are forfeited on cancellation, and access does not persist after you stop paying (FullEnrich, April 2026; UpLead, August 2026). A contract you cannot pause is a risk for a team that runs data jobs in bursts.

No company data to build on

Swordfish finds people. It has no firmographics, technographics or org charts (ZoomInfo Pipeline, September 2026). An agent that needs to pick companies first has to get them somewhere else.

What 1M, 5M and 25M records cost

Both tools are flat-priced. Volume does not change either bill until a fair-use line. That is why there is no calculator on this page. Swordfish publishes no per-record price to multiply.

Records a monthSwordfish AILeadOcean
1MTeams at $599 a month, annual billing. Volume limit not published.$499 a month.
5MTeams at $599 a month, annual billing. Volume limit not published.$499 a month.
25MTeams at $599 a month, annual billing. Volume limit not published.$499 a month. Past fair use, one email raises the headroom.

Plan arithmetic: Teams is $599 x 12 = $7,188 a year on annual billing (FullEnrich, April 2026). Pro is $499 x 12 = $5,988 a year, and you can cancel any month. The gap is about $100 a month, not six figures.

The volume limit is the real question. Reviewers put Solo at 150 to 200 lookups a day, which is 4,500 to 6,000 a month over 30 days (UpLead, August 2026). At that pace 1M records would take 167 to 222 months. That is a Solo estimate from reviewers, not a Teams limit.

Swordfish does not publish a Teams fair-use limit. Its own pricing guide says the fair use policy should be in writing and attached to the order form.

If Swordfish Teams serves your volume, the two bills are close. Ask Swordfish for the written limit before you plan a 1M or 25M month around it.

Where LeadOcean wins

The API and MCP are on every plan

REST and MCP are on Free and Pro alike. You can test the whole integration on 1,000 free records before you spend anything. On Swordfish the API starts on a $599 annual plan.

One flat bill, one schema

Pro is $499 a month. Every person or company returned counts as a record, but there is no credit balance and no overage invoice. A very large month is paced down to one request a minute until the reset, not cut off, and one email to support gets you more headroom.

Phones, emails and companies in one call path

LeadOcean holds 693M people and 63M companies, and 166M people carry a phone number. One request returns a profile, email status and, with reveal_email, every email and phone number we hold, for one record.

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/people/enrich" \
  -H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
  -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{"linkedin_url":"https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe","reveal_email":true}'

GET /v2/people/phone is the one-record phone lookup. A v2 call that finds nothing still costs one record, so use POST /v1/people/enrich when misses should be free.

Built for agents

Add the MCP URL https://api.leadocean.io/mcp to Claude or Cursor and sign in with OAuth. No key gets pasted into a chat. The server has 12 tools, including find_phone, search_leads and count_leads. Counts are free, so an agent can size an audience before it spends a record.

Where Swordfish AI wins

Phone-first data in a browser

Swordfish is built around cell numbers and personal emails. Its Chrome extension works on LinkedIn, Facebook, X and GitHub profiles (ZoomInfo Pipeline, September 2026). LeadOcean has no extension, so a rep who finds contacts while browsing should use Swordfish.

A bigger headline dataset

Swordfish claims 3.5 billion data points from 200+ data partners (ZoomInfo Pipeline, September 2026). That is a larger number than our 693M people. Data points are not people, so the two figures do not compare one to one. Test both on your own list before you trust either.

Stated accuracy on phones

Swordfish claims 82% first-dial accuracy and 95% overall (ZoomInfo Pipeline, September 2026). It is a vendor claim with no audit we could find. LeadOcean publishes no first-dial rate on this page. Run a sample of your own numbers through each tool.

Use both: LeadOcean for volume, Swordfish for the hard phones

You do not have to drop Swordfish. Let LeadOcean do the volume work and keep a seat for the contacts where you need a cell number badly.

  1. Create a free LeadOcean key at app.leadocean.io/register. The free plan needs no card.
  2. Search and enrich at volume with POST /v1/people/search and POST /v1/people/enrich. Keep the rows that came back with a verified email and a phone.
  3. Send only the rows with no phone to Swordfish, through the Chrome extension or its API if you are on Teams.
