People leave Swordfish AI when a phone finder built for a browser has to run as a pipeline. Swordfish sells "unlimited" lookups per seat. Its pricing page blocks automated reading, so see Swordfish pricing for current plans and prices. A competitor's review, FullEnrich, reports that Solo has no API and that Teams adds the API and CSV enrichment on annual billing (FullEnrich, April 2026). Treat that as reported, not confirmed.

The limit behind "unlimited" is not published. Swordfish itself says a written boundary should exist (Swordfish, September 2026). Reviewers report 150 to 200 lookups a day on Solo (UpLead, August 2026).

This page ranks six alternatives for API and volume buyers. For a two-column view, see LeadOcean vs Swordfish AI.

"1M records" here means 1M mobile-number lookups that return a number. That is what a phone finder is bought for. Figures are list-price arithmetic at the cheapest published credit rate. Enterprise quotes are lower, so ask each vendor at your volume.

What we evaluated

  • API access: which plan opens it, the endpoint that returns a phone number, and the default rate limit.
  • MCP: whether an agent can search and pull numbers through the server, or only read documentation.
  • Price model: flat, credits or seats, and what 1M mobile lookups cost at list price.
  • Phone data: stated coverage, what a mobile costs next to an email, and what a miss costs.
  • Limits that bite: daily caps, plan gates, annual-only billing and fair-use clauses.

We read each vendor's pricing page and docs in September 2026. We ran no find-rate or first-dial test for this page, so we quote no accuracy numbers as our own. Swordfish blocked automated access to its own pricing and API pages, so its plan details come from reviews and are marked as reported. Where a vendor shows nothing public, the page says so.

1. LeadOcean: best for API, agent and volume buyers

LeadOcean is one dataset behind one REST API and one MCP server. It holds 693M people, 366M with an email and 166M with a phone number, plus 63M companies. You search with 50 people filters and 34 company filters, and counts are free.

Phones come from GET /v2/people/phone, one record per call. POST /v1/people/enrich with reveal_email returns every email and phone number we hold for one record, and a person we hold nothing for is a free 404. A v2 phone call that finds nothing still costs one record, so use enrich when misses should be free.

Pro is $499 a month with unlimited searches, enrichments and lookups, 5 API keys and 100 requests per second per key. There are no credits and no overage invoice. A very large month is paced down to one request a minute until the reset, not cut off. More headroom is one email to support.

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/people/enrich" \
  -H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
  -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{"linkedin_url":"https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe","reveal_email":true}'

The MCP server at https://api.leadocean.io/mcp signs in with OAuth 2.1 and exposes 12 tools, including find_phone, search_leads and count_leads. Claude, Cursor or your own agent can pull numbers directly. There is also an Exports page in the app at app.leadocean.io, with a filter builder, a column picker, a price preview and a CSV download. A non-engineer can pull a phone list there without writing code. Exports through the API run up to 50,000 rows per request, so a 1M-row pull is 20 calls over two days.

Pros

  • Flat $499 a month at any volume, with no credit meter and no price per phone.
  • REST and MCP on every plan, including Free.
  • Free counts, so you size an audience before you pull it.
  • A miss on POST /v1/people/enrich costs nothing.

Cons

  • No Chrome extension, sequencer, dialer or CRM. It is a data layer.
  • One dataset and no waterfall across other vendors.
  • We publish no first-dial rate, so sample your own list on the Free plan.

Best for: engineers, RevOps and agents that need phones and emails at volume on a fixed bill.

Pricing: Free is 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).

2. LeadMagic: best for the cheapest mobile credits by API

LeadMagic is a credit-based enrichment API. It lists 400M+ people profiles and 25M+ companies, and reaches them through REST, CSV and a hosted MCP server (LeadMagic, September 2026). Failed lookups cost nothing.

A valid email costs 1 credit and a mobile number costs 5. The credit price falls as you climb the plans. Essential is $99 a month for 5,000 credits, Professional is $499 for 50,000 and Ultimate is $849 for 100,000 (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026). Ultimate works out to $0.00849 a credit, so a mobile is about $0.04.

The Email Finder endpoint allows 600 requests a minute. LeadMagic also states that a sustained find rate below 10% can lead to throttling or suspension (LeadMagic docs, September 2026). The MCP server uses OAuth, and a preview_cost call shows the price of a large job first (LeadMagic docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • The lowest per-credit list price in this group.
  • No charge when a lookup finds nothing.
  • Hosted MCP with a cost preview before large jobs.
  • REST on every plan, so the API is not gated behind a higher tier.

Cons

  • The top self-serve plan is 100,000 credits, which is 20,000 mobiles. 1M mobiles needs an Enterprise quote.
  • A smaller stated database than LeadOcean.
  • A minimum find-rate policy can throttle lists with poor match rates.

Best for: teams that buy a few thousand mobiles a month and want the cheapest credits.

Pricing: Essential $99, Growth $249, Professional $499, Ultimate $849 a month (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026).

3. FullEnrich: best for waterfall mobiles behind an API

FullEnrich is the closest thing to a phone-first waterfall with an API. It queries 25+ sources for each contact, and its pricing page states you pay for data it finds (FullEnrich pricing, September 2026). It also verifies landlines and charges no credits when the number is a landline.

Credits are the meter. A work email costs 1 credit, a personal email 3 and a mobile 10. Pro starts at $29 a month for 500 credits, which is $0.058 each. The tier the page opens on is $55 a month for 1,000 credits ($0.055 each), so a mobile costs $0.55 there (FullEnrich docs, September 2026). One thousand credits buys 100 mobiles. The top public monthly tier is 100,000 credits for $3,500 a month, and above that you contact sales (FullEnrich pricing, September 2026).

The API allows 60 calls a minute, with up to 100 contacts in a bulk request. Higher limits are an Enterprise feature (FullEnrich docs, September 2026). The MCP server can search, enrich and export, and it asks before it spends credits (FullEnrich help, September 2026).

Pros

  • Waterfall across 25+ sources, which suits a mobile search where one dataset has gaps.
  • Landline verification with no credits used on a landline.
  • Search, enrichment and export in the MCP server.
  • A free plan of 50 credits, no card.

Cons

  • Mobiles cost 10 credits each, so phone-heavy pulls get expensive fast.
  • The default API limit is 60 calls a minute.
  • No public price at 1M mobiles. The top public tier is 100,000 credits a month, which is 10,000 mobiles.

Best for: teams that want the most mobiles on a short, high-value list, through an API or an agent.

Pricing: Pro from $29 a month for 500 credits, $55 for 1,000, up to $3,500 a month for 100,000. Enterprise custom (FullEnrich pricing, September 2026).

4. Lusha: best for reps who want a browser extension and an API key

lusha homepage

Lusha is the closest match to Swordfish. It has a Chrome extension and an API key on every plan (Lusha API guide, September 2026). Its homepage lists 525M+ contacts, 117M+ direct dials and 29M+ companies (Lusha, September 2026). That makes it the closest rival on phone data in this group.

Credits are the meter. An email costs 1 credit and a phone number 5. Premium is $399.90 a month for 3,400 credits, which is 680 phones. Its top public step is 10,000 credits a month for $977.40, or 120,000 credits a year for $9,539.10 billed yearly. That yearly step is the lowest published rate, about $0.0795 a credit, and unused annual credits reset at year end (Lusha pricing, September 2026). Scale is custom.

The API is capped per day. The guide lists 100 requests a day on Free, 1,500 on Pro, 18,000 on Premium and 50,000 on Scale (Lusha API guide, September 2026). Each API request costs at least 1 credit, even when no data comes back. Lusha's API guide sets limits per key by plan: Free and Starter 40 a minute, Pro 50, Premium and Scale 300 (Lusha API guide, September 2026). The V3 rate-limits page adds a default ceiling of 25 requests a second per account (Lusha rate limits, September 2026). The MCP server has 50 tools (Lusha MCP docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • An API key and an MCP server on every plan, including Free.
  • A Chrome extension and native Salesforce, HubSpot and Pipedrive apps.
  • 26 buying signals, refreshed weekly, plus published ISO and SOC 2 Type II lines.

Cons

  • Phones cost 5 credits each, and there is no public price at 1M mobiles. The top monthly step is 10,000 credits, which is 2,000 phones.
  • Daily API caps, up to 50,000 a day on Scale.
  • A request with no result can still cost a credit through the API.

Best for: sales teams that want reveals in the browser and CRM and an occasional API call.

Pricing: Free with 40 credits a month. Starter $49.90 and Premium $399.90 a month. Scale is a quote (Lusha pricing, September 2026).

5. RocketReach: best for single seats with an extension

RocketReach is a seat product with an API behind it. It claims 700M+ professionals and 60M+ companies, and the Chrome extension comes on every plan (RocketReach pricing, September 2026). On monthly billing Essentials is $69 a month, Pro $119 and Ultimate $209, as reported by G2 (G2 RocketReach pricing, reported). Annual prices are not published to automated readers, so see RocketReach pricing.

API actions bill in Universal Credits, and the dollar price per credit is not published. A person lookup with a phone costs 6 credits (RocketReach docs, September 2026). No credit is charged when no data is found (RocketReach FAQ, September 2026). RocketReach publishes no dollar price per Universal Credit and no API plan price. Its docs set credit costs only, and its docs say to email api@rocketreach.co for an API plan (RocketReach credits overview; RocketReach rate limits).

Volume is capped twice. The API allows 10 requests per second globally, and the highest published person-lookup tier is 200,000 a month (RocketReach rate limits, September 2026). The MCP server has 9 tools and signs in with OAuth 2.1 (RocketReach MCP docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • Low seat prices for one person who prospects by hand.
  • A Chrome extension on every plan, plus sequences and CRM sync.
  • No charge when a lookup finds nothing.

Cons

  • No published price per credit, so you cannot price 1M mobiles from the site.
  • A monthly lookup ceiling of 200,000 on the top published tier.
  • 10 requests per second and plan-level minute, hour and day caps.

Best for: a single rep or recruiter who wants an extension and outreach in one app.

Pricing: Essentials $69, Pro $119 and Ultimate $209 a month on monthly billing, reported by G2 (G2 RocketReach pricing, reported). Annual prices and Team plan prices are not published to automated readers, so see RocketReach pricing.

6. ContactOut: best for recruiters working from LinkedIn

contactout homepage

ContactOut is a LinkedIn-first contact finder. It claims 800 million profiles and 100M direct dials. Its core product is a Chrome extension (ContactOut data, September 2026). The free plan gives 5 emails, 5 phones and 5 exports a day.

Self-serve plans are seats. Email is $49 a month and Email + Phone is $99 a month on monthly billing. Billed yearly they are $39 and $79 a month, with one user per company (ContactOut pricing, September 2026). The API is a separate Team / API plan with no published price. ContactOut publishes no API price. The pricing page shows Contact Us for Team / API and the API docs say to book a meeting to get a key (ContactOut pricing; ContactOut API docs).

Fair use is written down. Unlimited plans carry 2,000 email and 1,000 phone credits per account per month (ContactOut terms, September 2026). The API lists People Search at 60 a minute, and the MCP server has 15 tools with OAuth (ContactOut API docs, September 2026; ContactOut MCP, September 2026).

Pros

  • A stated cap, so you know the limit before you buy.
  • Monthly billing on the self-serve plans.
  • 600+ free MCP credits at onboarding.

Cons

  • The self-serve phone allowance is 1,000 credits a month, so 1M mobiles is 1,000 account-months.
  • No public API price.
  • One user per company on self-serve plans.

Best for: recruiters and reps who work from LinkedIn in a browser.

Pricing: Free. Email $49 and Email + Phone $99 a month, or $39 and $79 a month billed yearly. Team / API is a quote (ContactOut pricing, September 2026).

Sources are linked in each tool section, all checked in September 2026. Vendors change plans often, so confirm on the pricing page before you buy. The 1M column shows a price only where a public plan sells that volume. Where none does, it says so and names the top public tier. We show no rate-times-volume figure, because credits beyond a top tier are not sold at a published price. Swordfish AI is the tool this page replaces, so it has no row.

How to choose

  • You pull phones in code or with an agent, at volume: LeadOcean. One flat price, REST and MCP on every plan, 100 requests per second.
  • You want the cheapest mobile credits: LeadMagic, at about $0.04 a mobile on Ultimate, if you stay under 20,000 mobiles a month.
  • You need the most mobiles on a short list: FullEnrich, and budget 10 credits per mobile.
  • You want an extension and an API key from one vendor: Lusha.
  • One rep prospects by hand: RocketReach, or ContactOut if the work happens on LinkedIn.
  • You need a written usage cap: ContactOut states its credits. Ask Swordfish for its limit in writing before you renew.
  • You live in a LinkedIn or CRM extension: keep one. See Surfe alternatives for that category.

Verdict

LeadOcean wins for API, agent and volume buyers. It has a flat price, phones and emails in one plan and an MCP server that returns records. At 1M mobiles it is the only tool here with a public price, $499 a month, and fair use applies. LeadMagic, FullEnrich and Lusha publish plans that stop far short of that volume. LeadMagic wins for cheap mobile credits and FullEnrich for waterfall coverage on a short list. Lusha is the closest to Swordfish's extension-plus-API shape, RocketReach suits single seats and ContactOut suits LinkedIn recruiters. Stay on Swordfish if your reps work from its extension and its limit is enough. Otherwise start on the free plan and compare the same phone lookups.

FAQ

Why do teams leave Swordfish AI?

Shape and limits. The API starts on the Teams plan, which is sold on annual billing (UpLead, August 2026). The "unlimited" limit is unpublished, and reviewers report credits are forfeited when you cancel (FullEnrich, April 2026).

Does Swordfish AI have an API?

Yes, on the Teams plan only, per third-party reviews (UpLead, August 2026). Clay's own roundup lists an API among Swordfish products (Clay, April 2026). Swordfish's API docs block automated reading, so endpoints, rate limits and whether calls are metered are not published to us. Ask Swordfish before you build on it.

What is the cheapest Swordfish AI alternative at volume?

At 1M mobile lookups a month, LeadOcean at $499 flat is the only tool with a public price, and fair use applies. LeadMagic, FullEnrich and Lusha publish plans that top out at 100,000, 100,000 and 10,000 credits a month. Enterprise quotes may differ.

Which Swordfish AI alternative has an MCP server that returns data?

LeadOcean, LeadMagic, FullEnrich, Lusha, RocketReach and ContactOut all publish one. The tool counts run from 9 to 50. Compare the tools each exposes before you choose, and check what a call costs in credits.

Can I use Swordfish AI and another phone source together?

Yes. Run the volume through an API source, then send only the rows with no phone to Swordfish through its extension. That keeps a seat for the hard contacts and moves the bulk work to a flat bill. The Swordfish comparison has the steps for LeadOcean.

Do I need a credit card to try LeadOcean?

No. The free plan needs a work email and no card. It gives you 1,000 records, one-off, with the same API and MCP server as Pro. See pricing.
