6 Best TheirStack Alternatives in 2026 (Compared)

TheirStack finds companies by the technology they run and the jobs they post. Six tools that do the same job, or add the people, ranked for API and volume buyers.

Get your free API key →Free to start. No credit card. 1,000 records to spend whenever you like.

Teams leave TheirStack for three reasons: the credit meter, the missing people data and the rate limit. A company or a tech stack costs 3 API credits, a job costs 1, and 1M companies is 3M credits. TheirStack lists no 3M tier (TheirStack pricing, September 2026).

Paid accounts run at 4 requests a second, and credits expire 12 months after purchase (TheirStack rate limit docs, September 2026). It returns jobs, companies and tech stacks. We found no person or contact records, so you still need a second tool to reach anyone.

This page ranks six alternatives for API and volume buyers. Some replace the technology data. Some replace the job postings. One adds the people. For the full price ladder, read TheirStack pricing.

What we evaluated

  • Technology data. Does the tool tell you what a company runs, and can you filter by it?
  • Hiring signals. Does it carry job postings, which is where TheirStack's buying-intent data comes from?
  • People. Can you get decision-makers and contact data at the companies you find?
  • API and agent access. Rate limit, bulk export and a hosted MCP server.
  • Price at 1M records a month. Monthly list price first, billed-yearly figure after it, with a source and the month checked.

1. LeadOcean: best for contacts at companies that use a technology

LeadOcean is a people and company database with a technology filter. You pick a technology name or one of 105 technology categories, add job title, level, country and size, and get the people at those companies. It covers 693M people and 63M companies through REST and a hosted MCP server with 12 tools.

Technology data comes from crawled sites. The filter covers about 7.8M crawled sites, so it is narrower than a pure technographics vendor. It tells you a company runs a CRM or an analytics tool. It does not give a per-domain history or job postings.

The reason to pick it is the bill and the output. Pro is $499 a month with unlimited searches, enrichments and lookups, 100 requests per second per key and 5 API keys. There are no credits, so 1M rows costs the same as 10k. Exports return up to 50,000 rows per request and 500,000 rows a day.

Pros

  • Filters people by technology, title, level and country in one call.
  • One flat price. No credits, no per-record price, no overage invoice.
  • 100 requests per second per key, on every plan.
  • Hosted MCP server with OAuth sign-in and 12 tools. Counting an audience is free.
  • Free plan: 1,000 records, no card, same API and MCP server as Pro.

Cons

  • No job postings and no hiring signals.
  • Technology data covers about 7.8M crawled sites, not the whole database.
  • No per-domain technology history.
  • Past the fair-usage line, a very large month is paced down to one request a minute. One email to support raises the headroom.

Best for: engineers, RevOps and agents that need contacts at companies filtered by technology, at a fixed monthly bill.

Pricing: Free is 1,000 records one-off. Pro is $499 a month, flat. See LeadOcean pricing, checked September 2026.

2. BuiltWith: best for deep technology history on a domain

BuiltWith is the reference technographics database. Its plans page claims data from 491.9 million domains, updated weekly, with 18+ years of technology trend history (BuiltWith plans, September 2026). If your question is what a site ran two years ago, it answers it. TheirStack does not.

The API covers Domain, Relationships, Tags, Keywords and more. Most calls cost 1 credit per lookup, and the Free, Trends and WhoAmI calls cost none. The Lists API, which pulls every site on a technology, needs a subscription and shows no credit price (BuiltWith API reference, September 2026).

The limits matter at volume. The API allows 10 requests a second and 8 at once. A dedicated endpoint is the only way past that (BuiltWith API reference, September 2026). BuiltWith also lists contacts found on sites, with EU and California personal data removed. It is not a verified-email database, so pair it with a contact source.

Pros

  • The deepest technology coverage and history of the six.
  • Single-site lookups are free forever.
  • Hosted MCP endpoint at api.builtwith.com/mcp, with the API key as a Bearer token.
  • Team lists 1.2M API credits, the largest allowance on a self-serve plan.

Cons

  • API credit counts for Basic and Pro are not public.
  • 10 requests a second and 8 concurrent, with no way past it short of a dedicated endpoint.
  • No job postings and no verified people.
  • You cannot resell the data or build a product that duplicates builtwith.com.

Best for: analysts and data teams that need the full technology profile and history of a domain.

Pricing: Basic $295, Pro $495 and Team $995 a month, or $2,950, $4,950 and $9,950 billed yearly. Team Ultra is $6,000 a month. BuiltWith publishes no 1M price. Team lists 1.2M API credits, and the plans page does not say whether they renew each month (BuiltWith plans, September 2026).

3. Crustdata: best for tech stacks, jobs and people from one API

crustdata homepage

Crustdata is the closest single-vendor swap. It carries company tech stacks, job postings and people. Technographics sits on the existing Company and Job APIs. Company Search filters by technology, Company Enrich returns the detected stack, and Job Search filters postings by the technologies they name (Crustdata technographics docs, September 2026).

It is a beta, gated add-on. Access needs field-level permission on your account. Enrich adds 2 credits per company on top of the base 2. A technographics filter adds 1 credit per search result on top of 0.03 (Crustdata pricing docs, September 2026).

Crustdata runs a hosted MCP server at install.crustdata.com/mcp, with OAuth for interactive clients and an API key for code (Crustdata MCP docs, September 2026). The weak point is volume. Default limits are 15 requests a minute on enrich and 30 on search (Crustdata rate limits, September 2026). See Crustdata alternatives for the full picture.

Pros

  • Tech stack, job postings and people in one API.
  • Job Search filters postings by the technologies they name.
  • Hosted MCP server with OAuth and API-key sign-in.
  • Batch person enrich takes up to 10,000 identifiers a job.

Cons

  • Technographics is a beta add-on that needs field-level permission.
  • No dollar price per credit and no plan list on the pricing page.
  • Default limits of 15 requests a minute on enrich and 30 on search.
  • The contact endpoints need an enterprise plan.

Best for: teams that want stack, hiring and people data from one vendor and can negotiate a contract.

Pricing: the pricing page lists no plans or dollar prices. A Crustdata blog post reports a lowest tier from $95 a month (Crustdata pricing, September 2026; Crustdata blog, September 2026). 1M tech stacks is 4,000,000 credits (2 base plus 2 for technographics). There is no public price per credit, so there is no public 1M price (Crustdata docs, September 2026).

4. Coresignal: best for job postings at 1 credit each

coresignal homepage

Coresignal is the volume pick if hiring data is what you used TheirStack for. Its homepage claims 482M+ job postings, 70M+ company records and 907M+ employee records (Coresignal, September 2026). A job posting costs 1 credit, and search by filter is free (Coresignal docs, September 2026).

Tech stack data comes with the company record. The Clean Company API returns a technologies array, with the date each technology was first and last verified (Coresignal docs, September 2026). A company record costs 10 credits, so tech lookups cost ten times a job.

Plans scale to a published ladder. Rate limits rise with the plan, from 5 requests a second on Starter to 100 on Scale (Coresignal rate limits, September 2026). The hosted MCP server has 5 tools and OAuth 2.1 sign-in (Coresignal MCP docs, September 2026). See Coresignal alternatives.

Pros

  • Job postings at 1 credit each, far cheaper than a company lookup.
  • Tech stack with first and last verified dates per technology.
  • A published plan ladder from $49 to $5,000 a month.
  • Bulk Collect takes up to 10,000 records per request.

Cons

  • Credits reset each cycle on plans below Premium.
  • A company record is 10 credits, so tech-stack volume gets expensive.
  • Rate limits start at 5 requests a second.
  • Contact enrichment is 20 credits a call, and the API starts at Pro.

Best for: data teams that pull job postings at volume and want company technology as a side field.

Pricing: monthly list is Mini $49, Starter $199, Pro $499, Growth $1,000, Premium $1,500, Scale $3,000 and Elite $5,000. Billed yearly, Starter is $2,149 and Elite is $54,000 (Coresignal pricing, September 2026). 1M company records is 10,000,000 credits, the Elite allowance at $5,000 list. 1M job postings is 1,000,000 credits, the Premium allowance at $1,500. The pricing page marks Premium, Scale and Elite as contact sales, so expect a sales call at that volume.

5. BlitzAPI: best for job signals and people at a flat fee

BlitzAPI trades the credit meter for a flat monthly fee. Core is $399 a month and includes company search, people search, job postings and hiring signals. Plus adds verified work emails, and Full adds US phone numbers. It lists 100M+ job postings and 65M+ verified work emails (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026).

Its pricing page lists tech stack among the company search filters, but we found no per-domain technology endpoint in the docs (BlitzAPI pricing, October 2026). The docs index lists Search Jobs and TAM By Jobs, which returns the companies hiring for matching jobs (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026). That is the hiring half of TheirStack, with people attached.

Pricing has a cliff. Accounts opened by September 30, 2026 keep 50 requests a second and up to 15,000,000 results a month. New accounts run at the standard 5 requests a second, and the page states no fair-use volume for them (BlitzAPI pricing, October 2026). The MCP server gives AI tools the documentation only, not records (BlitzAPI MCP docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • Flat monthly fee, with no per-result charge.
  • Job postings, company search and people in one API.
  • Verified work emails on Plus, US phones on Full.
  • 1,000 credits free to try, no card.

Cons

  • No per-domain technology lookup that we found.
  • New accounts run at 5 requests a second, and their fair-use volume is not published.
  • The MCP server covers documentation only.
  • No bulk or CSV export is documented, and no SLA on Core, Plus or Full.

Best for: teams that use job postings as the trigger and want people and emails from the same flat-fee API.

Pricing: Core $399, Plus $499 and Full $599 a month. No billed-yearly figure is published (BlitzAPI pricing, October 2026). The 15,000,000-result fair use line applies only to accounts opened by September 30, 2026, so there is no public 1M price for a new account. See BlitzAPI alternatives.

6. Wappalyzer: best for cheap cached technology lookups

Wappalyzer detects the technologies on a website, and it is the cheapest route to a clean lookup API. A cached lookup is 1 credit a URL, and a live recursive lookup is 5. Lookup takes up to 10 URLs per request (Wappalyzer lookup docs, September 2026).

The API starts at Business. Pro at $250 a month includes no API credits, so API buyers start at $450. Business includes 20,000 credits, and they expire after 60 days (Wappalyzer pricing, September 2026).

Wappalyzer adds lead lists built on a technology, with emails and phones scraped from public pages. It gives no accuracy promise on those. The hosted MCP server is read-only with three tools, on Business and above (Wappalyzer MCP docs, September 2026). See Wappalyzer alternatives for who else competes here.

Pros

  • Simple cached lookup API at 1 credit a URL.
  • Free account with 50 technology lookups a month.
  • Lead lists by technology, finalized at 1 credit a website.
  • Read-only MCP server with three tools.

Cons

  • The API needs Business at $450 a month. Pro has none.
  • Included credits expire after 60 days.
  • 10 requests a second, and no public price at 1M.
  • Contact data is as-is, with no job postings or verified people.

Best for: developers who need to detect the technologies on a list of domains by API.

Pricing: Pro $250, Business $450 and Enterprise $850+ a month, or $2,500, $4,500 and $8,500+ billed yearly (Wappalyzer pricing, September 2026). Enterprise starts at 200,000+ credits. Wappalyzer publishes no 1M price.

How to choose

  • You need the people at companies that use a technology: LeadOcean. One call returns the contacts, and the bill stays flat.
  • You need the full technology history of a domain: BuiltWith. Add a contact tool for people.
  • You want stack, jobs and people from one vendor: Crustdata, if you can live with a beta add-on and a quoted price.
  • Job postings are your trigger and volume is high: Coresignal at 1 credit a posting, or BlitzAPI at a flat fee.
  • You only need to detect technologies on a domain list: Wappalyzer Business.
  • You track funding and startups, not stacks: look at Harmonic alternatives.
  • You want a LinkedIn-side prospecting tool: read Surfe alternatives.

Verdict

For API and volume buyers who need people, LeadOcean wins. It is the only tool here that filters contacts by technology on a flat $499 a month, though it has no job postings. BuiltWith wins on technology depth and history. Crustdata wins if you want stack, jobs and people from one vendor and can negotiate. Coresignal wins on job postings at 1 credit each. BlitzAPI wins on a flat fee for hiring signals and contacts. Wappalyzer wins on the cheapest clean lookup API. Keep TheirStack if job postings and buying-intent keywords drive your list and you do not need contacts.

FAQ

What is the best TheirStack alternative?

It depends on the job. For contacts at companies that use a technology, LeadOcean. For technology history, BuiltWith. For job postings at volume, Coresignal or BlitzAPI.

Is there a free alternative to TheirStack?

Several have free tiers. LeadOcean gives 1,000 records one-off with no card. BuiltWith offers free single-site lookups, and Wappalyzer gives 50 lookups a month (BuiltWith plans, September 2026; Wappalyzer pricing, September 2026). TheirStack's own free plan is 200 API credits a month.

Does TheirStack have an MCP server?

Yes. It runs at api.theirstack.com/mcp with OAuth or API-key sign-in, and spends API credits at the same rate as the API (TheirStack MCP docs, September 2026). Of the alternatives, LeadOcean, BuiltWith, Crustdata, Coresignal and Wappalyzer have MCP servers that return data.

Which tool finds companies by the technology they use and returns contacts?

LeadOcean filters people by technology name or technology category in one search, then returns emails and phones through enrich or an export. TheirStack, BuiltWith and Wappalyzer return the company side only.

How much does 1M records a month cost?

LeadOcean is $499 a month flat. Coresignal's Elite allowance covers 1M company records at $5,000 list, through sales. BuiltWith, Crustdata and Wappalyzer publish no 1M price. TheirStack needs 3M credits for 1M companies, with no 3M tier.

Can I use TheirStack and another tool together?

Yes. Use TheirStack for the hiring trigger, then pass the company domains to a contact source. LeadOcean's domain filter takes a list of company domains.
