7 Best Lead Enrichment Tools for Developers (2026)

Ranked for people who call enrichment from code or an agent. We compare volume, price model, API limits and MCP support, with the cost at 1M records a month.

Lead enrichment tools take a LinkedIn URL, email or domain and return the person's role, company, email and phone. Developers need them when enrichment runs inside a product, a pipeline or an agent, not inside a rep's browser tab.

That changes the buying criteria. Seats and Chrome extensions do not matter. Rate limits, the price at volume and a clean API do.

Most developers leave their first tool for one of three reasons. The credit meter makes a 1M-record job a quote request. The rate limit is set per minute, not per second. Or the plan is priced per seat for a job that has no seats. For two of the tools below, see our People Data Labs alternative and Apollo alternative pages.

What we evaluated

  • Volume and price model: what 1M records a month costs, and whether you pay per credit, per seat or at a flat rate.
  • API quality: endpoints for enrich, search and email or phone, plus how misses are billed.
  • Rate limits: requests per second or per minute on the plan you would actually buy.
  • MCP support: a hosted server your agents can call, and what it costs per call.
  • Seats and keys: whether a developer needs a paid seat, and how many API keys a plan gives you.

1. LeadOcean: best for API and agent pulls at volume

LeadOcean is a people and company data API with a hosted MCP server. The database holds 693M people and 67M companies. Search has 50 people filters and 34 company filters, and enrichment takes a LinkedIn URL, email, phone or person ID on POST /v1/people/enrich.

The price model is the point for developers. Paid plans have no credits: each has a fair-use pace instead. Solo is $97 a month, Agency is $497 a month with 200 requests a second, and Platform is $1,997 a month for products that embed or resell the data. Every plan has the same data and every endpoint.

The MCP server has 13 tools at https://api.leadocean.io/mcp with OAuth sign-in. Counting is free, so an agent can size a list with leadocean_count_leads or leadocean_count_companies before it spends a record. One search pages to 10,000 rows, so you narrow filters instead of walking the whole index.

Pros

  • Flat monthly price. No credits to buy, no per-record invoice, nothing expires.
  • Search, enrich, email, phone and CSV export on the same key, with the same data on every plan.
  • 13 MCP tools with OAuth sign-in. Count and filter-discovery calls are free.
  • Person enrich returns career history: past roles, education, certifications and awards.

Cons

  • No rep workspace. There is no sequencer, dialer, CRM or Chrome extension. It is data, not a sales app.
  • Rate limit depends on the plan: 5 requests a second on Free, 50 on Solo, 200 on Agency.
  • Bulk CSV export is not on the Free plan. Free is 1,000 records for life.
  • Past employers in career history carry no company ID yet.

Best for: developers and agents that pull people and company data in code, at volume, on a flat bill.

Pricing: Free $0, Solo $97, Agency $497, Platform $1,997 a month. See LeadOcean pricing (checked October 2026).

2. People Data Labs: best for raw person and company datasets

people-data-labs homepage

People Data Labs (PDL) sells person and company data as an API and as bulk datasets. Its person dataset holds about 2.47B profiles, and the company dataset about 76.6M records, per its docs stats (September 2026). The API is mature and well documented.

The catch is the price model. PDL charges one credit per match, and Pro starts at $98 a month for 350 credits, which is $0.28 a credit. PDL says Pro profiles cost about $0.20 to $0.28 each depending on volume. Self-serve stops near 100,000 person profiles, and above that PDL quotes Enterprise only, so there is no public price at 1M.

For developers building on top of an agent, note that PDL has no official MCP server in its docs, llms.txt or GitHub organization. Only community servers exist. Person Search is limited to 10 requests a minute by default.

Pros

  • Very large person and company datasets, with a resume dataset of 815M profiles.
  • Requests that return nothing (404) are not billed.
  • Bulk enrichment takes up to 100 persons per request.
  • Free plan of 100 credits a month for testing, though contact data is obscured.

Cons

  • Per-credit pricing makes volume expensive and unpredictable.
  • No public price above roughly 100,000 profiles. You talk to sales.
  • No official MCP server.
  • Person Search and Person Identify default to 10 requests a minute.

Best for: teams that want PDL's dataset and have an enterprise budget for it.

Pricing: Pro from $98 a month for 350 credits, $78 a month billed yearly. Source: PDL person pricing, September 2026.

3. Coresignal: best for professional profile and job data

coresignal homepage

Coresignal is a professional-data API with strong job-posting and employee coverage. Its homepage claims 907M+ employee records, 70M+ company records and 482M+ job postings (Coresignal, September 2026). It is a good fit when you build on jobs, headcount history or profile data rather than contact details.

Pricing is credits on monthly tiers: Mini $49 for 2,500 credits, Starter $199 for 12,000, Pro $499 for 35,000, up to Elite at $5,000 for 10,000,000. A contact enrichment call costs 20 credits and is included from Pro upward. At 20 credits an email, 1,000,000 lookups need 20,000,000 credits, and no public plan reaches that.

Coresignal has an MCP server with five tools and OAuth 2.1. Its live text says email_enrich costs 20 credits, while its docs page says 10, so check before you budget.

Pros

  • Deep job, employee and company data, with 4.5B+ records claimed.
  • Hosted MCP server with OAuth 2.1. Free tools: entity_fields and artifact_read.
  • Data API rate limits scale by plan, up to 100 requests a second on Scale.
  • Credits roll over for 3 months on Premium, Scale and Elite.

Cons

  • Contact data is a side feature at 20 credits a call and sits behind Pro.
  • Credits per record are high: 10 for a base record, 20 for multi-source.
  • Free trial is 2,000 credits for 7 days only.
  • No public price at 1M email lookups.

Best for: developers building on job postings, headcount and profile history.

Pricing: Mini from $49 a month. Source: Coresignal pricing, September 2026.

4. Crustdata: best for fresh people and company signals

crustdata homepage

Crustdata is built for developers and agents that want fresh people and company data with watchers for change. It claims 1B people on its homepage (Crustdata, September 2026). Search costs 0.03 credits a result, and person enrich is 1 to 7 credits depending on what you add.

Crustdata publishes credits but no dollars per credit. The pricing page lists no plan names or prices, so you confirm cost in the dashboard. A work-email lookup is 2 credits through /person/enrich, or 1 credit through the contact endpoint, which needs an enterprise plan. There is no public 1M price.

It has a hosted MCP server at https://install.crustdata.com/mcp, with OAuth for interactive clients and an API key as a bearer token for code. Default rate limits are 15 requests a minute on enrich endpoints and 30 on search.

Pros

  • Hosted MCP server that works with an API key in code.
  • Watchers notify you when a person or company changes.
  • Batch person enrich takes up to 10,000 identifiers a job.
  • Misses on contact enrich are not billed.

Cons

  • No public dollar price per credit and no plan list.
  • Default limits are per minute and low: 15 a minute on enrich.
  • The contact endpoint, with the cheaper email price, is enterprise only.
  • Credits expire. Docs say 12 months, a vendor blog post says 6.

Best for: teams that need change signals and will negotiate a contract.

Pricing: No public plan prices. Source: Crustdata pricing and credit costs, September 2026.

5. Apollo: best for teams that also want a sales app

apollo homepage

Apollo is a sales platform with an API on every plan. If your users also need a sequencer, dialer and a UI, Apollo bundles it. For a developer who only wants data, you pay for a seat model you do not use.

An email costs 1 credit, a phone number 8 credits, and people enrichment by API is 1 to 9 credits. Plans are per seat: Basic $65 for 2,500 credits, Professional $99 for 4,000, Organization $149 for 6,000, billed monthly. Credits pool across the team.

Apollo runs an official MCP server at https://mcp.apollo.io/mcp on any plan, including Free. Enrichment endpoints allow 1,000 requests a minute on paid plans, while search is limited to 50,000 a day.

Pros

  • Official MCP server on every plan, with OAuth or an API key.
  • 1,000 enrichment requests a minute with no hourly or daily cap on paid plans.
  • Sales app, sequences and dialer included if you need them.
  • Free plan with 75 credits a month.

Cons

  • Per-seat pricing. At 1M emails a month it is 250 seats on Professional.
  • Phone numbers cost 8 credits each.
  • Price per extra credit is not printed publicly.
  • Record selection is limited per action, from 25 on Free to 10,000 on Organization.

Best for: teams where reps and developers share one tool.

Pricing: Basic $65 a seat a month, $49 billed yearly. Source: Apollo pricing, September 2026.

6. Hunter: best for work-email lookups only

Hunter finds and verifies work emails. It does not return phones or deep profile data, so it suits a narrow job done well. Developers like the Email Finder and Domain Search endpoints and the clear credit rules.

Starter is $49 a month for 2,000 credits, Growth $149 for 10,000 and Scale $299 for 25,000, billed monthly. The Data Platform is the volume route: API and bulk only, one-off purchases valid 12 months. A million Search credits cost $6,900 there.

Hunter has an official remote MCP server at https://mcp.hunter.io/mcp, included in all plans. One quirk to code around: a rate-limited call returns 403, and 429 means you ran out of credits.

Pros

  • A published one-off price at 1M emails: $6,900, valid 12 months.
  • Email Finder charges only when an email is found.
  • Official MCP server on all plans, with an API key header.
  • Unlimited team members share one credit pool.

Cons

  • Emails only. No phone numbers and no profile data.
  • The 1M price needs the Data Platform, which is API and bulk only.
  • Monthly plan credits do not carry over.
  • Status codes are reversed from the usual: 403 for rate limit, 429 for usage.

Best for: developers who need only work emails and want a one-off price at volume.

Pricing: Starter $49 a month, $34 billed yearly. Source: Hunter pricing and Data Platform, September 2026.

7. Prospeo: best for verified emails and mobiles

Prospeo returns verified emails and mobile numbers through a search and an enrich API. A verified email is 1 credit, a mobile is 10 credits with the email included, and a search request is 1 credit for up to 25 results.

Plans are per user: Starter $49 for 2,000 credits, Growth $99 for 5,000, Pro $249 for 15,000, billed monthly. Credits pool across seats and expire each cycle. No single tier reaches 1M, so the cheapest public path is 44 Pro seats plus the 350,000-credit add-on.

The hosted MCP server at https://mcp.prospeo.io has 8 tools with OAuth 2.0 or an API key. Pro allows 30 enrich requests a second, while Starter and Growth allow 5.

Pros

  • Hosted MCP server with 8 tools.
  • Re-enriching the same record within 90 days costs nothing.
  • Pro enrich limit of 30 requests a second and 500,000 a day.
  • Credit costs are simple and published.

Cons

  • Credits expire at the end of each cycle.
  • No tier reaches 1M. You stack seats and add-ons.
  • Add-ons are a recurring subscription, and switching billing period drops them.
  • Mobiles cost 10 credits each.

Best for: teams that need verified mobiles and emails at mid volume.

Pricing: Starter $49 a user a month, $37 billed yearly. Source: Prospeo pricing, September 2026.

Crustdata fits change signals, and Prospeo fits verified mobiles. For the full list, see our best lead enrichment tools guide, or the versions for startups and recruiters.

FAQ

What is the best lead enrichment API for developers?

It depends on the job. For people and company data pulled in code or by an agent at volume, LeadOcean has the simplest price model. For work emails only, Hunter's Data Platform sells 1M lookups once for $6,900. For raw datasets, People Data Labs.

Which enrichment tools have an MCP server?

LeadOcean, Coresignal, Crustdata, Apollo, Hunter and Prospeo run hosted MCP servers. People Data Labs has no official one as of September 2026, only community servers.

How much does lead enrichment cost at 1M records a month?

At list price for work emails: LeadOcean $497 a month, Hunter $6,900 once, Prospeo $14,456 a month, Apollo $24,750 a month. People Data Labs, Coresignal and Crustdata publish no 1M price.

Do I need credits or seats?

Not with LeadOcean. Paid plans have a fair-use pace, with no credits and no per-record invoice. Apollo and Prospeo price per seat, and PDL, Coresignal, Crustdata and Hunter use credits.

Can I test an enrichment API for free?

Yes. LeadOcean Free gives 1,000 records for life with every endpoint and no card. PDL gives 100 credits a month with contact data obscured, Hunter 50 a month, and Coresignal a 7-day trial.

How do I avoid hitting rate limits?

Check the unit first. LeadOcean limits are per second, while PDL, Crustdata and Apollo publish per-minute limits. Batch where the API allows it, and read the 429 or 403 response codes for each vendor.
