Lead generation software for SDRs is a tool that finds the people an SDR should contact and gives their verified email and phone. It is for outbound reps and the RevOps owner who feeds them. Most SDR teams outgrow their first tool on cost, not on features.
The usual trigger is a credit meter or a seat count. A phone number costs 8 credits in Apollo and 5 in Lusha. Cognism and Seamless.AI publish no dollar price at all. This page ranks seven tools by how well they fit an SDR's day, and shows what each costs at 1M records a month.
We read published prices, limits and docs in September and October 2026. We did not run a find-rate test, so there are no accuracy numbers here. For closer reads, see LeadOcean vs Apollo, ZoomInfo, Cognism, Lusha, Seamless.AI and UpLead.
TL;DR
| Tool | Best for | Starting price | Cost at 1M records a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apollo | SDRs who want data, sequences and a dialer in one seat | Free; Basic $65 per seat a month ($49 billed yearly) | $24,750 a month at list, monthly billing |
| ZoomInfo | Larger SDR teams that want one suite and intent | Platform by quote; GTM.AI pay as you go from $20 | No public 1M price |
| Cognism | Phone-led teams calling Europe | No public dollar price | No public 1M price |
| Lusha | SDRs who reveal contacts from a browser extension | Free; Starter $49.90 a month ($37.45 billed yearly) | No public 1M price |
| LeadOcean | RevOps and engineers who feed SDRs by API, export or agent | Free $0 (1,000 records for life); Solo $97 a month | $497 a month (Agency, fair-use pace) |
| Seamless.AI | SDRs who want an extension and a dialer on a quote | No public dollar price | No public 1M price |
| UpLead | One rep who wants a guarantee on a short list | Essentials $99 a month ($74 billed yearly) | No public 1M price |
Cost at 1M means 1,000,000 work-email lookups in one month. Where a vendor publishes no price at that size, we say so and never multiply a small-tier rate out to 1M.
What we evaluated
- Rep workspace. Does an SDR get a UI with an extension, sequences or a dialer, or only data?
- Data an SDR acts on. Verified work email, mobile phone and the filters that build a target list.
- API and MCP. Is there a public API, an official MCP server, and what does each limit?
- Price model. Seats, credits or flat, and what a miss costs.
- Cost at 1M records a month. From the vendor's own price page only. No public price means we say so.
1. Apollo: best for SDRs who want data and outreach in one seat

Apollo is an all-in-one sales platform. An SDR gets a contact database, sequences on every plan, a dialer and a Chrome extension. The US dialer bills 1 credit per 30 seconds (Apollo pricing, September 2026).
It also has an official MCP server at https://mcp.apollo.io/mcp, on any plan including Free. MCP enrichment spends the same credits as the app (Apollo developer docs, September 2026).
The catch is the credit pool. An email costs 1 credit and a phone number costs 8. Credits are pooled across the team and do not roll over (Apollo API pricing, September 2026).
Pros
- Data, sequences, a dialer and an extension in one login.
- Free plan with 75 credits a month, so a rep can try it.
- API and MCP on every plan, Free included.
Cons
- Credits expire at the end of each billing cycle.
- A mobile number costs 8 credits.
- General API endpoints allow 200 requests a minute and 2,000 a day on Basic and Professional.
- The price of extra credits is not public.
Best for: SDR teams of 1 to 20 that want one workspace for sourcing and outreach.
Pricing: Free $0; Basic $65 per seat a month, billed monthly, or $49 billed yearly; Professional $99 or $79; Organization $149 or $119 with 3 seats minimum (Apollo pricing, September 2026). At 1M work emails the cheapest monthly path is 250 Professional seats, $24,750 a month at list. Billed yearly, 400 Basic seats come to $19,600 a month.
2. ZoomInfo: best for larger SDR teams that want one suite
ZoomInfo is a sales suite with an application SDRs log into. It connects to CRMs, sales tools and AI assistants (VentureBeat, September 2026). ZoomInfo claims 500M+ contacts, a figure it states about itself (GTM.AI docs, September 2026).
Platform plans are sold by quote. zoominfo.com/pricing blocked our read behind a human check, so we print no platform price, and the credit allowance in your contract sets the per-record cost.
GTM.AI is the self-serve route. Search and lookup are free, and one data credit enriches one record. A credit costs $0.45 at 100 and $0.25 at 100,000 (GTM.AI pricing, September 2026).
Pros
- Suite for a whole SDR team with CRM integrations.
- GTM.AI has a free tier with 1,000 data credits and MCP, API and CLI access.
- Search and lookup are free on GTM.AI.
- A record is charged once per 12 months.
Cons
- Platform price is a quote, so a buyer cannot compare it.
- The GTM.AI slider stops at 100,000 credits ($25,000). Past that is Enterprise.
- GTM.AI's Builder package allows 5 requests a second.
- The MCP server needs a GTM AI account or a ZoomInfo subscription with data credits.
Best for: SDR teams of 10 or more that want one vendor for data, intent and CRM sync.
Pricing: pay as you go from $20 on GTM.AI (GTM.AI pricing, September 2026). Rate limits are 5 requests a second on Builder, 25 on Standard and 35 on Scaling (GTM.AI rate limits, September 2026). No public 1M price.
3. Cognism: best for phone-led teams calling Europe

Cognism is a sales intelligence platform built around phone-verified mobiles. Its Diamond Data page claims over 10m phone-verified contacts and Do Not Call checks in 15 territories (Cognism, September 2026). That suits SDRs who spend the day on the phone.
Pro adds intent data from Bombora Company Surge and on-demand mobile verification (Cognism pricing, September 2026).
Cognism publishes no dollar price. One credit reveals one contact, and each seat includes an allocation. The API allows 500 requests a minute per account, per operation (Cognism rate limits, September 2026).
Pros
- Phone-verified mobiles are the core of the product.
- Official MCP server with OAuth 2.0 and 15 tools.
- Viewing a revealed contact again is free.
Cons
- No public price for a plan, seat or credit.
- Each plan is sold with 5 seats.
- API and MCP need a package that includes them.
- The docs disagree on whether a count call costs a search token.
Best for: SDR teams that sell into Europe and call more than they email.
Pricing: quote only (Cognism pricing, September 2026). No public 1M price.
4. Lusha: best for SDRs who reveal contacts from a browser

Lusha is a contact data platform. It has a Chrome extension, native Salesforce, HubSpot and Pipedrive apps, a REST API and an MCP server (Lusha homepage, September 2026). An SDR can open a LinkedIn profile and reveal a contact in two clicks.
Credits drive the bill. An email costs 1 credit and a phone number 5. One contact with both costs 7 through a single API request (Lusha API guide, September 2026).
The MCP server has 50 tools at https://mcp.lusha.com and shares the API credit pool (Lusha MCP tools, September 2026).
Pros
- Extension and CRM apps for a rep who works on LinkedIn.
- Free plan with 40 credits a month and an API key on every plan.
- Pro and Premium monthly plans roll credits over up to 2x.
Cons
- Top public tier is Premium at 10,000 credits a month, far below 1M.
- Per-key rate limits are low: Pro allows 50 requests a minute.
- Docs disagree on whether a no-match request costs a credit.
- Yearly credits reset at the end of the cycle.
Best for: SDRs who prospect from LinkedIn and need a quick email or mobile.
Pricing: Free $0 with 40 credits; Starter $49.90 a month, or $37.45 billed yearly; Pro $69.90 or $52.45; Premium $399.90 or $299.95; Scale by quote (Lusha pricing, September 2026). 1M work emails by bulk API would take 1,040,000 credits, 104 times the largest listed plan. No public 1M price.
5. LeadOcean: best for RevOps and engineers who feed SDRs
LeadOcean is a data layer, not a rep workspace. It holds 693M people and 67M companies, reachable over REST, a hosted MCP server and an Exports page in the app at app.leadocean.io. There is no sequencer, dialer, CRM or Chrome extension. An SDR does not live in it.
The person who builds the SDR's list does. Filter by jobLevel, jobFunction and country, then count first. On 2026-09-30, VP-level Sales & Business Development people in Canada counted 5,066 mailable records, through the free leadocean_count_leads MCP tool. Counts cost nothing.
Then pull the list with POST /v1/exports at up to 50,000 rows per request, or GET /v1/people/search for a rep-sized batch. Load the CSV into your sequencer or CRM. A work email is GET /v2/people/email/work and a phone is GET /v2/people/phone.
Pros
- Public flat price. Agency is $497 a month with no credit balance and no overage invoice.
- Free counts, filter lookups and empty enrichments.
- 50 people filters and 34 company filters, with exact enum values from
list_enum_values. - Free plan includes REST and MCP, with 1,000 records for life and no card.
- 13 MCP tools, so an agent can build a rep's list in Claude.
Cons
- No rep workspace: no sequencer, dialer, CRM or Chrome extension.
- Bulk CSV export is not on Free.
- Reaching the fair-use pace slows your key until the window resets.
- No refund for bounced emails. Read
email_statusbefore you send.
Best for: RevOps teams, agencies and engineers who build SDR lists in code, in the app or in an agent.
Pricing: Free $0, Solo $97, Agency $497, Platform $1,997 a month (LeadOcean pricing, October 2026). Paid plans have a fair-use pace, not credits. Rate limits are 5, 50, 200 and 10,000 requests a second per account. MCP details are in the LeadOcean MCP docs, October 2026.
6. Seamless.AI: best for SDRs who want an extension and a dialer on a quote

Seamless.AI is a sales platform with a Chrome extension, a dialer and emailing (Seamless.AI, September 2026). Its site claims 2.2B+ verified contacts and 448M+ verified mobile numbers (Seamless.AI API page, September 2026). Those are the vendor's numbers, not ours.
Its pricing page is a quote form. A Free license holds 50 credits with no refill, Basic 250 a month and Pro 10,000 a month per license (Seamless.AI credit types, September 2026).
One credit covers a contact's email and phone together. Search costs 1 credit per 10 results (Seamless.AI docs, September 2026).
Pros
- Extension and dialer for SDRs.
- One credit covers email and phone together.
- Hosted MCP server with 57 tools. Search tools use no credits.
Cons
- No public dollar price.
- Subscriptions are annual, cancellation needs 60 days' notice and sales are final (Seamless.AI terms, September 2026).
- Default API limit is 60 requests a minute per endpoint, shared by the organization.
- Research is asynchronous, so you poll for results.
Best for: SDR teams that want an extension and a dialer and will negotiate a contract.
Pricing: quote only (Seamless.AI pricing, September 2026). 1M researched contacts is 1,000,000 credits, or 100 Pro licenses at 10,000 credits each. No public 1M price.
7. UpLead: best for one rep who wants a guarantee on a short list
UpLead is a search interface built for one rep. Paid plans include a Chrome extension and CRM integrations (UpLead pricing, September 2026). It states over 200 million contacts with email, 19 million companies and a 95% accuracy guarantee (UpLead data page, September 2026).
A credit is charged for an email only when its status is Valid or Accept All. The same record is not charged twice (UpLead docs, September 2026). Extra credits cost $0.60 on Essentials and $0.50 on Plus.
The API is gated. Full API access sits on Professional, a custom annual quote. UpLead's docs mention no MCP server.
Pros
- Credits charged only for Valid or Accept All emails.
- Bounces and poor data are refunded.
- 7-day Test Drive with 5 credits.
Cons
- Essentials has 170 credits a month. Plus has 400.

How to choose
- One SDR or a team of five: pick Apollo. You get data, sequences and a dialer in one login at a public per-seat price.
- Ten or more reps on a CRM: get a ZoomInfo quote. Compare it with Apollo Organization before you sign.
- Reps who call Europe all day: get a Cognism quote and ask for the credit allocation in writing.
- Reps who prospect from LinkedIn: pick Lusha for the extension, and watch the 5 credits per phone.
- A RevOps owner who builds lists for many reps: pick LeadOcean. Count the segment free, export to your sequencer, and pay one flat fee.
- A rep with a small budget and a short list: UpLead's Essentials plan is a public $99 a month.
- An agent that books or researches for SDRs: use LeadOcean or Apollo, because both publish MCP access on a free plan.
See outbound lead generation for the motion these tools serve, predictive lead generation for scoring who to call first, and the lead generation funnel for where SDR sourcing sits. Prices are on LeadOcean pricing.
Verdict
Apollo wins for most SDR teams because a rep gets sourcing, sequences, a dialer and an extension for $49 to $149 per seat a month. ZoomInfo wins for large teams that want a suite, Cognism for phone-led European selling and Lusha for LinkedIn reveals. LeadOcean wins for the person who builds the list, not the rep who works it, because volume costs a flat $497 a month instead of $24,750 in Apollo seats. The best SDR stack is often two tools: a workspace for the reps and a flat data source behind it. Seamless.AI and UpLead fit narrower cases, a contract-based team and a solo rep.
FAQ
What is the best lead generation software for SDRs?
Apollo for most teams, because it combines data, sequences, a dialer and an extension at a public per-seat price. ZoomInfo and Cognism suit larger or phone-led teams that accept a quote.
Do SDRs need an API?
Not usually. Reps work in an app or an extension. The RevOps owner who builds lists, enriches a CRM or runs an agent needs an API or MCP server. LeadOcean, Apollo and Lusha publish both.
Which tool is cheapest at scale?
For 1,000,000 work-email lookups a month, only Apollo and LeadOcean publish a price path. Apollo is $24,750 a month at list on monthly billing. LeadOcean Agency is $497 a month (Apollo pricing, September 2026; LeadOcean pricing, October 2026). The rest have no public 1M price.
Can I use LeadOcean as an SDR's only tool?
Only if the SDR is comfortable with exports and a separate sequencer. LeadOcean has no extension, dialer or CRM. Many teams use it to source and keep Apollo or another tool for outreach.
How should I size a list before I buy credits?
Count first. LeadOcean's leadocean_count_leads is free, and so is its company count. Check the mailable total, then decide how many records to pull.
Does any tool guarantee email accuracy?
UpLead states a 95% accuracy guarantee and refunds bounces (UpLead data page, September 2026). LeadOcean gives no refund for bounces, so read email_status and send only verified and catch_all_valid rows.
