Funding Trigger is a Claude skill that builds a claude funding signal list from LeadOcean data. You name a stage and a year. It returns the companies whose last round matches, the senior buyers inside them and work emails for the top contacts.
What it does
A funding round is a sales trigger: a company with new money has budget and a hiring plan. The skill finds those companies and the people who sign off on spend.
You set the stage (Seed, Series A, Series B and so on), the earliest year of the last round, and optionally a job function, a country and a headcount bracket. The defaults are Series A and B, last calendar year, C-level and VP.
It sizes the list first, which is free. Then it pulls the companies, the buyers and a handful of emails.
One limit to know. LeadOcean stores the year of a company's last round, not the announcement date, and the data refreshes monthly. The skill lists companies by round and year. It does not alert you on the day a round is announced.
How it works
The skill is a SKILL.md file. It tells Claude which tools to call and in what order.
list_enum_valueschecks stage names against the exactfunding_typestrings. Free.count_leadssizes the buyers at those companies for your filters. Free.search_companieslists the funded companies, up to 25. 1 record per company returned.search_leadslists the buyers across those domains, up to 50. 1 record per person returned.get_leadwithreveal_email: truereturns the work email and its status for the top contacts. 1 record each, at most two per company.
If the count is 0, the skill retries once with an earlier year, then stops. It shows the budget before it spends anything.
How to use it
- Download the zip: Download funding-trigger.zip.
- Unzip it and add the
funding-triggerfolder as a skill in Claude. - Connect LeadOcean at
https://api.leadocean.io/mcpand sign in with OAuth. - Ask: "Find Series A companies funded since 2025, VPs of Sales, US only".
You need a LeadOcean account. The free plan gives you 1,000 records, one-off, no card.
Sample output
The sizing step is free, so we ran the buyer part of it on 1 October 2026 with count_leads. Counts cover mailable people only (verified, catch_all_valid, catch_all), the default for count_leads. The free count does not reliably apply the funding filters. These numbers size the buyers at US companies of the size you pick. The funding filter narrows the list at search time.
| Filters | Mailable people | Records spent | Date |
|---|---|---|---|
| jobLevel C-Team and VP, hqCountry US, employeeRange 11-50 and 51-200 | 2,522,290 | 0 | 1 October 2026 |
| jobLevel C-Team and VP, jobFunction Sales & Business Development, hqCountry US, employeeRange 11-50 and 51-200 | 110,035 | 0 | 1 October 2026 |
The funding stage and year then narrow the list when the skill runs search_companies. If the funding filter returns nothing for a very recent year, the skill retries once with an earlier year. Last calendar year is the safe default.
The companies, buyers and emails need search_companies, search_leads and get_lead, which spend records.

FAQ
How fresh is the funding data?
The dataset is refreshed monthly. Each record carries its own fetched_at date. LeadOcean holds the last round type and year, so use this skill for monthly or quarterly lists, not same-day alerts.
Can I pull every person at funded companies?
Not in a chat run. The step 2 count tells you how many match. For the full list, use the Exports page in the app at app.leadocean.io, which shows the record price before you download.
Does it write the outreach?
No. It returns accounts, buyers and emails. Read the email status before you send. Bounced emails are not refunded.
