Warm outbound is outreach you start yourself to people who already have a link to you or a visible reason to care, such as a site visit, a mutual contact or a recent event at their company.
The seller still sends the first message, so it is outbound. The difference from cold outbound is that the message can point to something real. For the full cold version of the motion, read outbound lead generation.
Why it matters for outbound
Warm outbound gives the reader a reason to answer. A message that references a webinar they attended, a role they just started or a funding round gets read as relevant, not as noise.
It also shrinks the list. You do not send to 10,000 titles. You send to the few hundred who show a trigger, which protects sender reputation and lets you write each message by hand. Pair it with buying signals to decide who is warm this week.
A person counts as warm only if you can name the reason in one line. "Fits our ICP" is a fit, not warmth. "Opened your pricing page on Tuesday" is warmth. If the reason is vague, treat the contact as cold and write the message that way.
Example
You sell onboarding software. Three people look warm this week.
| Person | Warmth source | Opener |
|---|---|---|
| Jane Doe, VP Sales at Acme | Visited your pricing page twice | Ask what she was comparing |
| John Roe, Head of CS at Globex | Started the role last month | Offer a first-90-days checklist |
| Sam Poe, Director at Initech | Connection of a customer | Ask the customer for an intro |
Each row has a reason that is true and specific. Names and values are placeholders. For the job-change case, see job change signals.
In LeadOcean data
LeadOcean does not hold warmth. It has no filter for intent data, site visits, email opens or engagement, and the dataset is refreshed monthly. Your warm list comes from your own site, CRM or events.
LeadOcean supplies the contact data once you know who is warm:
POST /v1/people/enrichtakes exactly one oflinkedin_url,email,phoneorperson_idand returns the profile. Setreveal_emailto true to get the address. An enrich that finds nobody is a 404 and costs nothing.GET /v2/people/email/workandGET /v2/people/phonefill a missing work email or number.- Read
email_statusbefore sending. The MCP toolget_leaddoes the same lookup from an AI assistant.
Each person returned counts as one record, and a v2 contact call costs one record even when it finds nothing. The free plan gives 1,000 records, one-off, with no card. Pro is $499 a month. See /pricing and outbound sales automation.
