Describe the accounts you want in one sentence. Claude resolves exact filters, sizes the buyers inside them for free, then lists the companies on your say-so. Connect https://api.leadocean.io/mcp first. Setup is on the MCP page.
The prompt
Target accounts: US-headquartered software companies with 201 to 1,000 employees.
My buyer: VPs of sales.
1. Call leadocean_list_enum_values for industry and pick the software values.
2. Call leadocean_count_leads with those industries, employeeRange 201-500 and 501-1000,
hqCountry US, jobLevel VP and jobFunction Sales & Business Development.
3. Tell me the count and the exact filters you used.
4. Do not call leadocean_search_companies until I say go. Then list 25 companies. What it resolves to
| Filter | Value |
|---|---|
| industry | Software Development, Computer Software |
| employeeRange | 201-500, 501-1000 |
| hqCountry | US |
| jobLevel | VP |
| jobFunction | Sales & Business Development |
Enum values are exact strings, which is why step 1 looks them up. "Software" alone matches seven industry values, so Claude has to choose. Count first, then spend: a wrong industry string returns an empty or bloated list, and the count shows that before any record is used.
How many match
2,580 mailable people matched on 2 October 2026. Filters: industry Software Development or Computer Software, employeeRange 201-500 or 501-1000, hqCountry US, jobLevel VP, jobFunction Sales & Business Development.
Mailable means verified, catch_all_valid or catch_all, the count_leads default. This counts buyers, not accounts. Your account list is shorter, because several matching people can sit at one company. A count this size tells you the segment is worth a real outbound motion, not a hand-built list.
What you get back
Company rows carry the fields below. These are placeholder values, not real records.
| Company | Company size | Industry | Country |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acme (acme.com) | 201-500 | Software Development | US |
| Example Co (example.com) | 501-1000 | Computer Software | US |
| Sample Inc (sample.com) | 201-500 | Software Development | US |
Variations
- Change the buyer: "VPs of marketing, jobFunction Advertising & Marketing", then count again.
- Swap the market: "hqCountry GB and DE" and ask Claude to count each country separately.
- Go bigger: "only employeeRange 1001-5000" for an enterprise account list.
Records it spends
The enum lookup and the count are free. leadocean_search_companies costs 1 record per company returned, so 25 companies cost 25 records. Free gives you 1,000 records one-off with no card. Pro is $499 a month. See pricing.
