7 Best Email Finder Tools for GTM Engineers (2026)

Seven email finders ranked on volume, price model, API and seats, with list prices checked in September 2026.

An email finder takes a person, a domain or a LinkedIn URL and returns a work email, ideally with a status you can trust before you send. GTM engineers need one that runs from code, a table or an agent, at a price they can predict. Most tools price by credit, and seat limits and API gates change what the same list costs.

Clay is the usual workbench, but its Actions cap at 200,000 a month on public plans. Apollo bills by seat. Prospeo and Hunter stop their public price lists short of a steady 1M month. This page ranks seven tools on those limits. Rival tools have their own pages: Clay, FullEnrich, Apollo, Prospeo, Hunter and LeadMagic. We ran no accuracy test, so we quote no find rates.

"1M records" means 1M work-email lookups that return a result, at list price. A "No public 1M price" row means we did not multiply a rate out to 1M.

What we evaluated

  • Volume: the largest public tier, and what stops a steady 1M month (caps, seats, tiers that end early).
  • Price model: credits, seats or flat. Whether a miss costs anything and whether credits expire.
  • API and rate limit: which plans get the API, the default speed, and whether bulk calls exist.
  • MCP: a hosted server an agent can call, and what it spends.
  • Seats: per-seat billing against a shared pool or keys.

1. LeadOcean: best for pulling emails in code or with an agent

LeadOcean is a people and company database you search, enrich and export, over REST and MCP. It holds 693M people, 366M with an email and 166M with a phone number, plus 67M companies. You filter with 50 people filters and 34 company filters.

A GTM engineer's flow is domain first. Call GET /v1/companies/{domain}/people, then POST /v1/people/enrich by person_id with reveal_email set. Work emails also come from GET /v2/people/email/work. A free count (leadocean_count_leads) sizes a pull before you spend a record. The hosted MCP server at https://api.leadocean.io/mcp signs in with OAuth 2.1 and exposes 13 tools.

There is no name plus domain lookup, so LeadOcean will not match a CSV of names. It has no waterfall and no sequencer. Bounces are not refunded, so read email_status before you send.

Pros

  • Flat price: Agency is $497 a month with no credits and no per-record price.
  • Rate limits by plan: 5 requests a second on Free, 50 on Solo, 200 on Agency, 10,000 on Platform.
  • REST and MCP on every plan, Free included.
  • A miss on POST /v1/people/enrich is a free 404, and counts cost nothing.
  • Keys, not seats: 1 on Free and Solo, 5 on Agency, 20 on Platform.

Cons

  • No name plus domain lookup and no CSV upload to match your own list.
  • No waterfall: one database, so a miss stays a miss.
  • A v2 contact call that finds nothing still costs one record.
  • Bulk CSV export is not on Free.

Best for: engineers, RevOps and agents that pull emails by filter or by domain at a fixed bill.

Pricing: Free is 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Solo is $97 a month, Agency $497 and Platform $1,997 (LeadOcean pricing, October 2026).

2. Clay: best for building enrichment workflows in tables

clay homepage

Clay is a workflow spreadsheet that calls many data providers from one table. For a GTM engineer it is the place to chain a lookup, a model step and a CRM write without writing glue code. Clay says a fully enriched record typically costs 6 to 20 Data Credits, plus one Action per enrichment. Its own example prices an email find at 0.5 credit (Clay docs, September 2026).

The Public API and CLI are on every plan, including Free. The HTTP API column, which calls an outside API from a table, starts on Growth at $495 a month ($446 billed yearly). Tables hold 50,000 rows on Launch and Growth (Clay pricing, September 2026; Clay docs, September 2026). Clay does not publish a Public API rate limit number (Clay docs, September 2026).

The ceiling is the Action meter. 1M lookups need 1M Actions, Actions cannot be topped up, and the largest public tier is 200,000 a month. Above that it is an Enterprise quote.

Pros

  • Waterfalls, Claygent and bring-your-own-key, with unlimited seats on Free.
  • A table is the fastest way to prototype a multi-step enrichment.
  • An enrichment that returns nothing is charged nothing.
  • Public API and CLI on every plan.

Cons

  • Two meters, Actions and Data Credits, make the monthly bill hard to forecast.
  • The HTTP API column needs Growth, from $495 a month.
  • No public 1M price, and a 200,000-Action ceiling on public plans.
  • No published Public API rate limit.

Best for: GTM engineers who build and ship workflows in tables, and use other providers as the data source.

Pricing: Free is $0 with 100 Data Credits a month. Launch is $185 a month ($167 billed yearly). Growth is $495 ($446 billed yearly) (Clay pricing, September 2026).

3. FullEnrich: best for waterfall emails and mobiles by API

FullEnrich runs a waterfall across 25+ data sources and returns the first verified result. A work email costs 1 credit, a personal email 3 and a mobile 10. Not found costs 0 credits (FullEnrich docs, September 2026).

API, MCP, search and bulk CSV are on every plan, including the free trial of 50 credits, and users are unlimited (FullEnrich pricing, September 2026). That makes seats a non-issue. The limit is speed. The API allows 60 calls a minute across Enrich, Reverse Email and Search, and a bulk request takes up to 100 contacts (FullEnrich docs, September 2026).

Pricing stops short of 1M. The top monthly tier is 100,000 credits for $3,500 a month, and above it you contact sales. Unused credits roll over 3 months on monthly plans.

Pros

  • Waterfall across 25+ sources, with a miss charged nothing.
  • API, MCP and bulk CSV on every plan, and unlimited users.
  • Credits roll over 3 months on monthly plans, 12 on annual.

Cons

  • 60 API calls a minute is slow for a steady 1M month.
  • No public 1M price.
  • Mobiles cost 10 credits each.

Best for: teams that want the highest chance of a hit on each person and will pay per credit for it.

Pricing: Pro starts at $29 a month for 500 credits ($26 a month billed yearly for 6,000 credits a year) (FullEnrich pricing, September 2026).

4. Apollo: best for teams that want data and sequencing in one app

apollo homepage

Apollo is a database plus a sales app. An email costs 1 credit and a phone number 8. Credits are pooled across the team and expire at the end of each billing cycle (Apollo API pricing, September 2026). Every plan includes API access, and enrichment runs at 1,000 requests a minute on paid plans (Apollo rate limits, September 2026).

Apollo runs an official MCP server at https://mcp.apollo.io/mcp on any plan, including Free, and MCP enrichment spends the same credits (Apollo MCP docs, September 2026).

The catch is seats. Credits are per seat, Basic gives 2,500 a month and Professional 4,000. A steady 1M month means 250 Professional seats at monthly list price. Apollo prints no price per extra credit, so a cheaper add-on path cannot be priced.

Pros

  • Data, sequences and a dialer in one app.
  • API and MCP on every plan, with a high enrichment rate limit.
  • Organization-wide credit pool.

Cons

  • Per-seat billing makes high volume expensive: $24,750 a month at 1M on monthly billing.
  • Credits expire each cycle and do not roll over.
  • No public price per additional credit.
  • Free allows 75 credits a month.

Best for: sales teams that live in one app and need seats anyway.

Pricing: Basic is $65 a seat a month ($49 billed yearly). Professional is $99 ($79). Organization is $149 ($119), with a 3-seat minimum (Apollo pricing, September 2026).

5. Prospeo: best for seat-based teams that also want an API

Prospeo charges 1 credit per verified email and 10 per mobile. A result of nothing costs 0, and re-enriching the same record within 90 days is free (Prospeo help, September 2026). Plan credits add up per seat into one shared pool.

The Enrich API allows 5 requests a second on Starter and Growth and 30 on Pro. The hosted MCP server at https://mcp.prospeo.io has 8 tools (Prospeo rate limits, September 2026; Prospeo MCP docs, September 2026).

No single tier reaches 1M. The cheapest public path on monthly billing is 44 Pro seats plus the 350,000-credit add-on, $14,456 a month. Credits do not roll over, and add-ons are a recurring subscription.

Pros

  • Clear credit costs, with repeat enrichment free for 90 days.
  • Hosted MCP server with 8 tools.
  • Add-on credits fall to $0.01 each at the largest monthly tier.

Cons

  • Seat and add-on stacking is needed to reach 1M.
  • Credits expire each cycle.
  • Free-plan API access is unclear: the pricing table shows none, while the help center lists 50 requests a day (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).

Best for: small teams that want an app and an API on a per-seat plan.

Pricing: Starter is $49 a user a month ($37 billed yearly) for 2,000 credits. Growth is $99 ($74), Pro $249 ($187) (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).

6. Hunter: best for domain search and a verifier, with a bulk API

Hunter is built around domain search. Email Finder costs 1 credit per email found and nothing if none is found. Verification costs 0.5 credit (Hunter pricing, September 2026). Team members are unlimited and share one pool.

Rate limits are per endpoint: Email Finder and Domain Search allow 15 requests a second. A rate-limited call returns 403, and 429 means you hit your usage quota (Hunter API docs, September 2026). A hosted MCP server at https://mcp.hunter.io/mcp is included on all plans (Hunter MCP, September 2026).

Hunter has the lowest credit-based 1M price here. Data Platform, its API and bulk product, sells 1,000,000 search credits for $6,900 as one purchase valid 12 months (Hunter Data Platform, September 2026).

Pros

  • A published $6,900 price for 1M lookups.
  • Unlimited team members on one credit pool.
  • MCP on all plans, and a separate verifier.

Cons

  • Monthly credits do not carry over on monthly plans.
  • Rate limit errors use 403, which trips clients that expect 429.
  • Free allows 50 credits a month.

Best for: domain-first lookups and teams that want a verifier next to the finder.

Pricing: Starter is $49 a month for 2,000 credits ($34 billed yearly). Growth is $149 ($104), Scale $299 ($209) (Hunter pricing, September 2026).

7. LeadMagic: best for cheap credits on a monthly plan

LeadMagic charges 1 credit per valid email and nothing for a miss. Its ladder runs from Essential at $99 a month for 5,000 credits to Ultimate at $849 for 100,000, which is $0.00849 a credit (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026). Seats are shared: 3 on Essential, up to 20 on Ultimate.

Email Finder is capped at 600 requests a minute (LeadMagic docs, September 2026). The hosted MCP server signs in with OAuth only, and static API keys are not accepted (LeadMagic MCP, October 2026).

Self-serve plans stop at 100,000 credits. There is no public 1M price, and top-up and Enterprise rates are not published. There is no free plan.

Pros

  • Low credit price at the top tier.
  • A miss is free.
  • Hosted MCP server with OAuth sign-in.

Cons

  • No free plan.
  • Self-serve ends at 100,000 credits a month.
  • Credits roll over on monthly plans only, capped at 2x the allocation.

Best for: GTM engineers who want pay-as-you-go credits under about 100,000 a month.

Pricing: Essential is $99 a month ($83 a month billed yearly for 60,000 credits a year), Growth $249, Professional $499, Ultimate $849 (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026).

Verdict

For a GTM engineer pulling data by API or agent at volume, LeadOcean is the pick, with Hunter next for a published one-off 1M price. Clay wins as the workflow layer, and Apollo wins when the same people need an app and sequences. FullEnrich wins on hit rate per person, Prospeo suits small seat-based teams, and LeadMagic suits credit buyers below 100,000 a month. LeadOcean and Hunter have the lowest 1M prices in this list. See pricing for the plan that fits your volume.

FAQ

What is the best email finder for a GTM engineer?

It depends on how you run it. For code and agents at volume, LeadOcean. For tables and workflows, Clay. For one app with sequencing, Apollo.

Which email finder has an MCP server?

All seven. LeadOcean exposes 13 tools at https://api.leadocean.io/mcp. Apollo, Hunter, FullEnrich, Prospeo, Clay and LeadMagic each run their own hosted server. Sign-in differs: LeadMagic is OAuth only.

What does 1M email lookups a month cost?

LeadOcean is $497 a month on Agency, with fair use. Hunter is $6,900 once on Data Platform. Apollo is $24,750 a month and Prospeo $14,456 a month at list price. Clay, FullEnrich and LeadMagic have no public 1M price.

Do I pay per seat?

Apollo and Prospeo do. Hunter and FullEnrich give unlimited users, and Clay gives unlimited seats on Free. LeadOcean limits keys, not seats.

Can LeadOcean match a list of names and domains?

No. There is no name plus domain lookup. Search by domain with GET /v1/companies/{domain}/people, then enrich by person_id. For the reasoning behind email finders, read what an email finder is and what a GTM engineer does.

Where do I find phone numbers?

Email finders and phone finders are separate lookups. See the best phone number finder tools for GTM engineers.
