A reverse email lookup takes one email address and returns the person who holds it: name, title and employer. Developers need it to enrich signups, route inbound leads and clean a CRM, and agents need it to answer "who is this?" in one call.
The six tools below all do that, but the price of a match differs widely. One match costs 1 credit at FullEnrich, 5 at CompanyEnrich and 10 at Icypeas. Hunter charges 0.2 credit on its all-in-one plans. BlitzAPI counts a match as one record, and LeadOcean counts each REST call as one record.
We compared published docs and pricing pages. We did not run a live match-rate test, so this page makes no accuracy claims. Prices are in US dollars, monthly list price first, billed-yearly after it. For the LeadOcean endpoint, see reverse email lookup.

What we evaluated
- Price per match. What one found person costs, and whether a miss is free. This is where tools differ most.
- Cost at 1M lookups. The published plan or tier that covers a million lookups in a month. If none exists, we say so and do not multiply a rate.
- API shape. The endpoint, the input it takes, whether it has a bulk mode, and the rate limit.
- Agent access. Whether a hosted MCP server exists and what it exposes.
- What comes back. Name and title only, or a fuller profile with history, education and skills.
1. LeadOcean: best for API and agent buyers
LeadOcean is a people and company data API with a hosted MCP server. Reverse email lookup is GET /v2/people/reverse with an email parameter. It returns full_name, job_title, company_name, company_domain and linkedin_url, plus the address as the record holds it with its type and status (LeadOcean docs, September 2026).
One REST call is one record, including a call that finds nobody (found: false) (LeadOcean API reference, October 2026). Free gives 1,000 records once, with no card and 5 requests a second. Solo is $97 a month at 50 requests a second. Agency is $497 a month at 200 requests a second (LeadOcean pricing, October 2026). Paid plans have a fair-use pace instead of credits. That is why a million lookups still sits on the $497 plan.
The agent route is the MCP tool leadocean_get_lead. Pass email and it returns the full person record, and a lookup that finds nobody costs nothing. The server has 13 tools and signs in with OAuth 2.1, so no key is pasted into a chat. The reverse block is thin on purpose. For history, education and certifications, call POST /v1/people/enrich, which costs the same.
Pros
- Flat Agency price at any volume, inside the fair-use pace. No per-lookup price.
- API and MCP on every plan, including Free.
- The same record feeds search, enrich and export, so one key covers the pipeline.
- Dataset of 693M people, 366M with an email (measured 2026-09-23).
Cons
- No batch reverse endpoint. A list of 10,000 emails is 10,000 calls.
- An address we do not hold still costs one record on the REST route, so test a sample of your list first.
- The app has no upload for a list of emails. Its Exports page is a filter builder with a CSV download.
- A REST miss is billed. Use the MCP route or
POST /v1/people/enrichby email, where a miss is free, for lists with low match rates.
Best for: engineers and agents that look up addresses one at a time, at volume, on a fixed bill.
Pricing: Free $0 (1,000 records once), Solo $97, Agency $497, Platform $1,997 a month. Source: LeadOcean pricing, October 2026.
2. FullEnrich: best for bulk jobs at 1 credit a match
FullEnrich is a waterfall enrichment service that also sells a dedicated reverse email lookup. A match costs 1 credit, and a miss costs 0 (FullEnrich credit docs, September 2026). Its docs describe the job as finding the person and company behind an email.
The API is built for lists. You start a lookup with POST /api/v2/contact/reverse/email/bulk and read the result with a GET on the same path (FullEnrich API index, October 2026). A bulk request takes up to 100 contacts. The limit is 60 API calls a minute, shared across Enrich, Reverse Email and Search (FullEnrich volume docs, September 2026).
The price is the catch at scale. Pro starts at $29 a month for 500 credits and tops out at $3,500 a month for 100,000 credits ($0.035 a credit). Above that you talk to sales (FullEnrich pricing, September 2026). No public plan reaches a million lookups in a month.
Pros
- 1 credit per match is the cheapest per-match credit rate of the paid tools here.
- Async bulk endpoint with 100 contacts per request.
- Unused credits roll over 3 months on monthly plans and 12 months on annual plans.
- API, MCP and bulk CSV are on every plan, including the free trial.
Cons
- 60 calls a minute is slow for real-time use, though the bulk mode softens it.
- No public price at 1M lookups.
- The free trial is 50 credits, which is 50 reverse lookups.
Best for: teams that run reverse lookups in batches of thousands and want to pay per match.
Pricing: Pro from $29 a month for 500 credits ($26 a month billed yearly for 6,000 credits a year). Source: FullEnrich pricing, September 2026.
3. Hunter: best for one-off bulk buys
Hunter's reverse lookup is Email Enrichment: GET /v2/people/find with an email or a linkedin_handle. It returns the person's name, location, employment (company domain, title, seniority) and social handles. A person with no data returns a 404 (Hunter API docs, October 2026).
On all-in-one plans an enrichment uses 0.2 credit, so Starter's 2,000 monthly credits cover 10,000 lookups. That is our arithmetic from the credit rule (Hunter credit help, September 2026). Data Platform, the API-only product, charges 1 Search credit per enrichment instead.
That makes Data Platform the cheapest published path to a million. A 1,000,000-credit purchase is $6,900, paid once and valid 12 months (Hunter Data Platform, September 2026). The rate limit is 15 requests a second and 500 a minute. Hunter also returns a 451 claimed_email code when a person has asked for their data to stop being processed. Do not process those records.
Pros
- $6,900 once buys 1M lookups, the lowest published one-off price here.
- 15 requests a second is the highest per-key burst among the credit-based tools.
- Official remote MCP server at
mcp.hunter.io/mcp, included on all plans. - Honors do-not-process requests with an explicit 451 code.
Cons
- Reverse lookup is a side feature of an email finder, not the core product.
- Monthly credits reset and do not carry over on monthly plans.
- Returns less history than a profile API: no education or skills in the documented fields.
Best for: teams already on Hunter, or anyone who wants a single large prepaid block.
Pricing: Free $0 (50 credits a month); Starter $49 a month ($34 billed yearly). Source: Hunter pricing, September 2026.
4. BlitzAPI: best for a fixed fee with a high fair-use line
BlitzAPI sells one API key over people, companies, emails and phones. Reverse lookup is POST /v2/enrichment/email-to-person with a single email field, which must be a work address. It returns a name, LinkedIn URL, headline, experiences, education, skills and certifications (BlitzAPI docs, October 2026).
A match is 1 record. A response with found: false is not charged. Plans differ by speed and fair use, not by data: Start is $99 a month with 10 requests a second per endpoint and 200,000 records a month. Scale is $499 a month with 25 requests a second and 5,000,000 records (BlitzAPI pricing, October 2026). A million lookups fits Scale.
Pros
- Fixed monthly fee, and a miss is not counted.
- Rich response: experiences, education, skills and certifications in one call.
- Limits are per endpoint, so reverse lookups do not slow company search.
- 1,000 free records, no card.
- A hosted MCP server that returns data, with 20 tools (BlitzAPI MCP, October 2026).
Cons
- Work emails only. A Gmail address is out of scope.
- Scale runs 25 requests a second, against 200 on LeadOcean Agency.
- No bulk or CSV export is documented, so a list means one call per address.
Best for: teams that want a fixed fee and a rich profile on work addresses.
Pricing: Start $99, Scale $499 a month, Build Your Infra from $999 a month. Source: BlitzAPI pricing, October 2026.
5. Icypeas: best for small volumes with credits that never expire
Icypeas is an email finder with a reverse email lookup that costs 10 credits per found profile. A search that finds nothing costs nothing (Icypeas credit costs, September 2026). Credits roll over with no expiry and no cap on stacking, even after a downgrade or cancellation (Icypeas pricing, September 2026).
The 10-credit rate shapes the bill. Basic is $19 a month for 1,000 credits, which is 100 reverse lookups. Hypergrowth is $499 a month for 100,000 credits, which is 10,000 lookups at about $0.05 each. A million lookups needs 10,000,000 credits, and the published 10M tier is $34,930 a month, or $349,300 a year for 120M credits ($29,108 a month). Both figures assume every lookup finds a profile.
Icypeas runs a hosted MCP server at mcp.icypeas.com/mcp with 21 tools, signed in with your API key. Rate limits are listed for email search at 10 calls a second (Icypeas rate limits, September 2026). The reverse endpoint has no listed limit.
Pros
- Credits never expire, so a quiet month costs nothing extra.
- Hosted MCP server on every plan.
- Misses are free.
Cons
- 10 credits per match is the highest credit rate in this list.
- The price at 1M is about 70 times the LeadOcean Agency plan.
- No reverse-specific rate limit is published.
Best for: low-volume users who look up addresses now and then.
Pricing: Basic $19 a month ($190 billed yearly). Source: Icypeas pricing, September 2026.
6. CompanyEnrich: best for teams that also need company data
CompanyEnrich is a company data API with a people layer. Its Lookup person endpoint takes an email address and costs 5 credits per successful call. It resolves the company from the email domain first, then matches the person by patterns in the local part of the address (CompanyEnrich docs, October 2026). That is a best-match method, so check the result before you trust it.
The dataset is 33M+ companies and 193M+ professional profiles (CompanyEnrich llms.txt, October 2026). Starter is $49 a month for 5,000 credits, which is 1,000 reverse lookups. Scale is $549 a month for 500,000 credits, which is 100,000 lookups. Extra credits are not priced publicly (CompanyEnrich pricing, September 2026).
Rate limits scale with the plan: 60 requests a minute on Starter, 120 on Pro and 600 on Scale. The MCP server exposes all of the APIs as tools, including email lookup.
Pros
- Company enrichment, search and people lookup behind one key.
- MCP server covers every API.
- Credits roll over on Pro and Scale.
Cons
- Smallest people dataset of the six, and 5 credits per match.
- No public price at 1M lookups: that would be 5,000,000 credits.
- Rate limit of 60 requests a minute on Starter.
Best for: teams whose main need is company data, with the occasional email-to-person lookup.
Pricing: Starter $49, Pro $149, Scale $549 a month. Source: CompanyEnrich pricing, September 2026.

How to choose
- You call it from code or an agent, one address at a time: LeadOcean. A flat bill beats any per-match credit once you pass a few thousand lookups a month.
- You process lists in batches of thousands: FullEnrich, because the bulk endpoint takes 100 contacts and a match is 1 credit.
- You want to buy 1M lookups once: Hunter Data Platform at $6,900, valid 12 months.
- You need a fixed fee and a rich profile on work emails: BlitzAPI Scale at $499 a month.
- You look up a few hundred addresses a month: Icypeas Basic, where credits never expire.
- You mainly enrich companies: CompanyEnrich, with people lookup as an add-on.
Verdict
LeadOcean wins for API and agent buyers at volume: 1 record per lookup, a $497 flat Agency plan and a hosted MCP server. FullEnrich wins for batch jobs where a match should cost 1 credit. Hunter wins for a single prepaid million at $6,900, and BlitzAPI wins for a fixed fee on work emails. Icypeas and CompanyEnrich fit narrower cases: small volumes and company-first teams. FAQ
What is a reverse email lookup?
It is a lookup that starts from an email address and returns the person: name, title, employer and often a LinkedIn URL. The input is the address, and the output is an identity.
Can I try a reverse email lookup for free?
Yes, on every tool here. LeadOcean gives 1,000 records once, and BlitzAPI gives 1,000 free records. CompanyEnrich gives 500 credits (100 lookups), FullEnrich 50 credits and Icypeas 50 credits (5 lookups). Hunter's Free plan has 50 credits a month, about 250 enrichments at 0.2 credit each.
Do these tools work on personal emails like Gmail?
It varies, and most vendors publish no match rate by address type. BlitzAPI takes work emails only. LeadOcean accepts any address and labels its type in matched.type. Test a sample of your own list first.
Is a reverse email lookup accurate?
Treat a match as evidence, not proof. CompanyEnrich matches by patterns in the address. LeadOcean returns matched_in_record: false when the person is found but the record does not list your exact address.
How do I run reverse lookups from an AI agent?
Connect an MCP server. LeadOcean's leadocean_get_lead tool takes an email and returns the person. See reverse email lookup over MCP for setup and the API reference for the REST call.
How much does a million lookups cost?
From $497 a month on LeadOcean Agency, $499 on BlitzAPI Scale, or $6,900 once on Hunter Data Platform. Icypeas is $34,930 a month. FullEnrich and CompanyEnrich publish no price at that volume. See LeadOcean pricing.
