Icypeas is an email finder and verifier that sells credits. LeadOcean is a people and company database you call over REST or MCP at one flat price. If you use Icypeas to find and check emails one name at a time, it is cheap and good at that. If you search by filter, pull in volume or feed an agent, LeadOcean removes the meter.
Why teams switch from Icypeas
You still need a name and a domain
The Icypeas email finder takes a first name, a last name and a domain or company (Icypeas API docs, September 2026). You must know who you want before you ask. LeadOcean starts from a filter, such as job level, function, country and funding stage, and returns the people.
Credits are a meter at volume
Email Finder costs 1 credit per found email, and Hypergrowth at $499 a month holds 100,000 credits (Icypeas pricing, September 2026). Go past that and you move to a bigger credit tier. Cost rises with every email you find.
The single-lookup route is not built for bulk
The Icypeas docs tell you not to use the single email route for many searches. Bulk search takes up to 5,000 rows per call at 1 call a second (Icypeas docs, September 2026). It is asynchronous: you submit, then poll for results by id (Icypeas docs, September 2026).
Narrow search filters
Find People offers 10+ filters and Find Companies 9 (Icypeas features, September 2026). LeadOcean has 50 people filters and 34 company filters, plus free counts, so you size an audience before you spend a record.
The pattern is simple. Icypeas is priced per found email, and the price per email falls as you buy bigger blocks. LeadOcean is priced per month, and the price per email falls as you use more of it.

| Miss on a lookup | A 404 that costs nothing. | Pricing lists 1 credit per found email. No. Email search costs 1 credit per found email, so a search that finds nothing costs no credit (Icypeas docs, September 2026). |
| Cost of a very large month | Same $499. Paced down past the fair-usage line. | 1M credits cost $3,992 a month, and the top monthly tier is 10M credits at $34,930 (Icypeas pricing). |
| Who it suits | Engineers, RevOps and agents that need search, volume and a fixed bill. | Teams that know the name and domain and want cheap, verified emails (Icypeas). |
Icypeas figures come from icypeas.com and api-doc.icypeas.com, checked in September 2026. Icypeas changes plans and limits, and its docs say limits can change at any time, so check the pages before you buy.
What 1M, 5M and 25M records cost
Icypeas sells credits, and Email Finder spends one per found email. So 1M found emails needs 1M credits. LeadOcean Pro stays at $499 a month.
Icypeas sells credits in steps, and the top monthly step is 10M credits at $34,930 a month. 1M found emails needs 1M credits, which is the $3,992 a month tier ($0.003992 a credit), or $3,326.67 a month billed yearly ($39,920 for 12M credits). Prices are plus VAT.
There is no published tier at 5M, and none above 10M a month. The floor column prices the 10M tier at $0.003493 a credit, at list rate, if sold at that volume. It is a best case, not a quote.
| Records a month | Icypeas, nearest published tier | Icypeas at the 10M-tier rate (floor) | LeadOcean |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1M | $3,992 a month (1M credits) | $3,493 | $499 a month. |
| 5M | $34,930 a month (10M credits, the nearest tier above) | $17,465 | $499 a month. |
| 25M | No public price above 10M credits a month | $87,325 | $499 a month. Past fair use, one email raises the headroom. |
Icypeas arithmetic: records x 1 credit per found email x $0.003493 per credit ($34,930 divided by 10M credits), at list rate, if sold at that volume. This is list price for Hypergrowth, before VAT and before any negotiated discount (Icypeas pricing, September 2026).
The pricing page credit selector lists these monthly tiers: 20,000 credits $178, 30,000 $267, 50,000 $445, 100,000 $499, 200,000 $998, 500,000 $2,245.50, 1,000,000 $3,992 and 10,000,000 $34,930. The yearly selector runs to 120M credits for $349,300 a year (Icypeas pricing, September 2026).
Read the table plainly. At 100,000 found emails a month the two prices meet at $499, so LeadOcean Pro is cheaper above that. Below it, Icypeas costs less. Your real Icypeas number also depends on your find rate, because you only pay for emails it finds.

Where LeadOcean wins
A flat bill at any volume
Pro is $499 a month. Every person or company returned counts as a record, but there is no credit balance to watch and no overage invoice. A very large month is paced down to one request a minute until the reset, not cut off, and one email to support gets you more headroom. An agent that loops cannot run up an invoice. Free calls such as count_leads and list_filters let it plan before it pulls.
Search by filter, not by name
Icypeas finds the email for a person you already named. LeadOcean finds the people. Search 693M people with 50 filters and 63M companies with 34, across 254 countries and 534 industries. Counts are free, so you know the size of an audience before you pull it.
Icypeas scrapes a company profile for 0.5 credit and scans a domain for 1 credit (Icypeas pricing, September 2026). LeadOcean answers the same questions from one database with POST /v1/companies/enrich, and lists the people at a company with GET /v1/companies/{domain}/people, up to 10,000 rows. You do not chain a finder, a scraper and a verifier.
Built for code and agents
Both tools have an API and an MCP server. The LeadOcean difference is one synchronous call and one schema. Send one request and get a profile, email status and, with reveal_email, every email and phone number we hold, for one record.
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/people/enrich" \
-H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
-H "content-type: application/json" \
-d '{"linkedin_url":"https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe","reveal_email":true}'For Claude or Cursor, add the MCP URL https://api.leadocean.io/mcp and sign in with OAuth. No key gets pasted into a chat. Ask the agent for a count first: count_leads is free, and search_leads then returns thin records at one record each.
A higher ceiling on throughput
LeadOcean allows 100 requests per second per key on every plan. Icypeas allows 10 calls a second on email search and one bulk call a second (Icypeas docs, September 2026). Export up to 50,000 rows per request with POST /v1/exports, so a 1M-row pull is 20 calls over two days.
Where Icypeas wins
Icypeas is a focused tool, and it beats LeadOcean on a few numbers. Here they are.
Low entry price and rollover
Basic is $19 a month for 1,000 credits, and unused credits roll over with no expiry (Icypeas pricing, September 2026). If you find a few thousand emails a month, that is a cheap and forgiving plan. LeadOcean's first paid step is $499.
A bigger phone and email count
Icypeas quotes 280 million phone numbers and 1.8B emails (Icypeas features, September 2026). LeadOcean has 166M people with a phone number and 366M with an email. The two firms may count differently, but on phones Icypeas is larger, and a phone-heavy campaign should test it.
Verification as its own product
Icypeas sells a standalone email verifier at 0.1 credit per check, and it says it validates catch-all addresses on Google and Microsoft (Icypeas, September 2026). If you already hold a list and only need it cleaned, that is a good fit. LeadOcean returns a status with each record but does not verify lists you bring.
Pick Icypeas if your list already exists and you need emails or checks on it. Pick LeadOcean if you still have to find the list. Pick both if deliverability on catch-all domains is where your bounces come from.
Use both: Icypeas as the verifier
You do not have to drop Icypeas. Use LeadOcean to find the people and Icypeas to double check the addresses you are about to send to. This keeps Icypeas credit use small, at 0.1 credit per email checked.
- Create a free LeadOcean key at app.leadocean.io/register. The free plan needs no card.
- Pull your audience with a filtered search, or export it with
POST /v1/exports. Keep the rows whoseemail_statusisverifiedorcatch_all_valid. - Send the catch-all rows to the Icypeas bulk verifier, up to 5,000 per call, and mail only what comes back valid.
FAQ
Is LeadOcean a full Icypeas replacement?
For most API and agent use, yes. LeadOcean finds people and emails by filter or by LinkedIn URL. It does not sell a standalone verifier for lists you bring, and Icypeas has more phone numbers, so keep it for those jobs.
How much does Icypeas cost?
Monthly plans run $19 for 1,000 credits, $39 for 4,000, $89 for 10,000 and $499 for 100,000, plus VAT. Hypergrowth volume tiers go up to 10M credits at $34,930 a month, and 1M credits cost $3,992 a month ($3,326.67 a month billed yearly) (Icypeas pricing, September 2026).
Does Icypeas have an API or an MCP server?
Both. The API is at app.icypeas.com/api, and the MCP server is hosted at mcp.icypeas.com with 21 tools, per Icypeas's own guide (Icypeas MCP guide, September 2026). LeadOcean's MCP server has 12 tools and signs in with OAuth.
Can I find emails from a name and domain with LeadOcean?
Send a LinkedIn URL or an email to POST /v1/people/enrich, or search with filters such as title, company domain and country. A miss on enrich is a 404 and costs nothing. If you only have a first name, last name and domain, Icypeas is the more direct fit.
What does LeadOcean cost, and is there a limit?
Free gives you 1,000 records, one-off, with no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat, with no credits and no per-record price. Past the fair-usage line a very large month is paced down instead of cut off, and support can raise the headroom.
Do I need a credit card to try it?
No. The free plan needs a work email and no card, and it has the same API and MCP server as Pro. Your 1,000 records last until you spend them.
