BlitzAPI is a database you query for a flat monthly fee. BetterContact is a waterfall that asks 20+ providers and charges per valid result. For high volume in code, BlitzAPI is the simpler bill, though its published volume terms cover only accounts opened by September 30, 2026. For a list of named contacts you already own, BetterContact usually finds more.
Verdict
- Pick BlitzAPI if you search by title and company or start from LinkedIn URLs, and want one flat monthly fee of $399 to $599. It also carries 100M+ job postings (BlitzAPI pricing, September 2026).
- Pick BetterContact if you have a list with names and company domains and want the highest find rate, including mobiles outside the US. It is cheap at small volume, from $15 a month (BetterContact pricing, September 2026).
- Pick neither if you want emails, phones, search and export on one price with no credits and no data-type tiers. LeadOcean is one option, covered below.

Data and coverage
BlitzAPI owns a dataset. BetterContact asks other datasets. That split explains most of the table.
BlitzAPI lists 550M+ profiles and 65M+ companies, all tied to LinkedIn. Verified work emails number 65M+, about 12% of profiles, and it also lists 100M+ job postings (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026). It re-tests its emails at least every 30 days. An email it cannot prove comes back as not found.
BetterContact publishes no database size. Its homepage says it cascades through 20+ providers and that its routing is based on 545M+ data points, which describes its algorithm, not a contact count (BetterContact, September 2026). It bills only valid results, so a list that returns few emails costs few credits.
Phones are where they split. BlitzAPI's 45M+ numbers are US only and sit on the $599 Full plan. Phone endpoints are not available on its free trial. BetterContact prices a mobile at 10 credits and publishes no country split, so run a sample of your own regions through it before you commit (BetterContact pricing, September 2026).
Support terms differ as well. BlitzAPI's Core, Plus and Full plans carry no SLA. An SLA comes only with Blitz Embedded, which starts from $2,000 a month on an annual agreement (BlitzAPI pricing, September 2026). BetterContact Enterprise adds a dedicated account manager and bring-your-own API keys.
Input matters too. BlitzAPI's email lookup takes a LinkedIn URL. BetterContact takes a first name, last name and a company or domain, and wants a LinkedIn URL for phones. Both are vendor claims about quality. We did not test either.
API and developer experience
Both are REST APIs with an API key header, but they differ in shape. BlitzAPI answers an email lookup in the same call. BetterContact accepts a batch and answers later. Placeholders below stand in for real people.
BlitzAPI, find a work email from a LinkedIn URL.
curl --request POST \
--url "https://api.blitz-api.ai/v2/enrichment/email" \
--header "x-api-key: $BLITZAPI_API_KEY" \
--header "Content-Type: application/json" \
--data '{"person_linkedin_url": "https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe"}'The response carries found, the email and an all_emails list. One result is one email, and a call that finds nothing counts nothing (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026).
BetterContact, submit one lead for email enrichment. A batch takes up to 100.
curl --request POST \
--url "https://app.bettercontact.rocks/api/v2/async" \
--header "X-API-Key: $BETTERCONTACT_API_KEY" \
--header "Content-Type: application/json" \
--data '{
"data": [{
"first_name": "Jane",
"last_name": "Doe",
"company_domain": "acme.com"
}],
"enrich_email_address": true,
"webhook": "https://example.com/bettercontact/results"
}'A 201 means the batch was accepted, not enriched. You keep the returned id and either wait for the webhook or poll GET /async/{request_id}. The docs warn that submissions are not idempotent, so a retried successful POST spends credits twice (BetterContact docs, September 2026).
Rate limits shape the work. At 1M single email lookups, BlitzAPI at 50 requests per second needs 1,000,000 / 50 = 20,000 seconds, about 5.6 hours. At the standard 5 it needs 200,000 seconds, about 2.3 days. BetterContact counts per minute across all endpoints. On Pro, 200 requests a minute at 100 leads a call is 20,000 leads a minute. That makes 1M leads 50 minutes of submitting, before the waterfall runs (BetterContact docs, September 2026). Over the limit it returns 429 with the body Retry later.
On MCP, neither helps an agent pull records. BlitzAPI's server gives an AI tool the API documentation, so an agent cannot search people or enrich a lead through it. We found no MCP server in BetterContact's docs index.
Pricing
BlitzAPI sells three flat plans by data type: Core is $399 a month without emails or phones. Plus is $499 with verified work emails. Full is $599 with US phones added (BlitzAPI pricing, September 2026). BetterContact sells credits: 1 for a work email, 10 for a mobile, and nothing for a miss (BetterContact docs, September 2026).
The worked example is work-email lookups only, one result or credit each. Monthly list price comes first, billed-yearly after it.
| Volume a month | BlitzAPI | BetterContact |
|---|---|---|
| 10,000 | Plus: $499 a month. No billed-yearly figure | 10,000 credits, Pro step: $399 a month. Billed yearly, about $332.50 a month ($3,990 a year) |
| 1,000,000 | Plus: $499 a month for accounts opened by September 30, 2026. No public 1M price for later accounts | No public 1M price |
At 10,000 emails a month BetterContact is cheaper, $399 against $499. The yearly BetterContact figure is derived from its rule of paying 10 months and keeping 12 (BetterContact pricing, September 2026). For accounts opened by September 30, BlitzAPI pulls ahead as volume grows, because its fee does not move with volume.
At 1M the BlitzAPI figure is the list price for accounts opened by September 30, 2026. Its 15,000,000 results a month fair use line is part of that offer, and Terms section 10.7 fixes it for those accounts (BlitzAPI Terms, September 2026). For accounts opened later, BlitzAPI publishes no monthly volume, only the standard 5 requests per second. Terms section 9.1 defers to the website or order form at signup (BlitzAPI pricing, October 2026). So a new account has no public 1M price. Only emails it finds count as results, so 1M lookups return at most 1M results.
BetterContact publishes no 1M price. 1M work emails need 1,000,000 credits. The top public step covers 50,000 credits for $1,999 a month, which is 5% of that volume. Enterprise is listed from $799 a month on a custom quote (BetterContact pricing, September 2026). A million lookups in one month needs a quote.
Catch-all emails add a wrinkle on BetterContact. They are charged when catch-all verification is off, and with it on only catch_all_safe results are charged. That verification is an add-on (BetterContact docs, September 2026). BlitzAPI has no per-result charge on paid plans, so its bill does not change with the mix.
Phones change the sums. A mobile costs 10 credits, so 5,000 mobiles use 50,000 credits, the whole top step at $1,999. BlitzAPI Full is $599 a month for US numbers with no per-result charge. The BetterContact API also needs a phone add-on for phone enrichment, or it returns 402, and no add-on price is published (BetterContact docs, September 2026). Neither figure promises a hit rate, so sample first.
Where BlitzAPI wins
- A flat fee with no credit meter. For accounts opened by September 30, 2026, $499 covers work emails at 10,000 or 1M.
- A fast rate limit of 50 requests per second for those accounts. Standard accounts run at 5.
- Search from scratch, with job postings and hiring signals, 100M+ of them.
- A synchronous email lookup that answers in the same call.
Where BetterContact wins
- Find rate on a list you own. A waterfall asks the next provider when one misses, and you pay only for valid results.
- Small volume. Starter is $15 a month and Pro starts at $49, against $499 for BlitzAPI Plus. Unused credits roll over, capped at twice the plan.
- Phones beyond the US. BlitzAPI's numbers stop at the US border, and BetterContact does not publish a country limit.
- No-code reach. It lists 28 native integrations, including Clay, HubSpot and Zapier (BetterContact, September 2026).
If you need volume through an API
LeadOcean is the data layer only: 693M people and 63M companies over REST and MCP. Pro is $499 a month flat with no credits and no data-type tiers, and Free gives you 1,000 records, one-off, with no card. The limit is 100 requests per second per key on every plan, and POST /v1/exports takes up to 50,000 rows per request. The MCP server searches, enriches and exports records. LeadOcean has no job-postings dataset and no waterfall across other providers. See pricing.
FAQ
Which is cheaper, BlitzAPI or BetterContact?
At 10,000 work emails a month BetterContact Pro is cheaper at $399 against BlitzAPI Plus at $499. At 1M, BlitzAPI lists $499 a month for accounts opened by September 30, 2026, and BetterContact has no public price. Accounts opened later have no public BlitzAPI 1M price either. Add mobiles and BetterContact's 10 credits each add up fast.
Does BlitzAPI have phone numbers outside the US?
No. Its 45M+ phone numbers are US only, and they need the $599 Full plan (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026). BetterContact publishes no country split for its mobiles.
Do BlitzAPI or BetterContact have an MCP server?
BlitzAPI's gives AI tools access to its documentation only (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026). We found none in BetterContact's docs index (BetterContact docs, September 2026).
Can I search for new leads with each?
BlitzAPI is built for it, with company and people search over its own dataset. BetterContact has a Lead Finder, but its core job is enriching leads you supply, each with a name and a company or domain.
What happens past BlitzAPI's 15M results a month?
The Terms allow throttling or blocking until the next cycle unless a higher allowance is agreed, and the FAQ says a person contacts you (BlitzAPI Terms, section 9.3). No price is published above 15,000,000 results.
Can I use both?
Yes. Search and pull work emails from BlitzAPI at a flat fee, then send the rows with no phone to BetterContact. You spend 10 credits only where a mobile is found.
