People leave BetterContact when a per-result bill meets an API. It charges 1 credit for a valid email and 10 for a mobile number, on plans from $15 a month (BetterContact pricing, September 2026). The API allows 100 requests a minute on Starter and 200 on Pro, and more is on request (BetterContact API docs, September 2026). Its docs index lists no MCP endpoint, and results are fetched by request ID (BetterContact API index, September 2026). That suits an agency enriching lists it owns. It is a poor fit for code that pulls millions of people and companies.
This page ranks six alternatives for API and volume buyers. LeadOcean is first because it is one database with one flat price. For a two-column view, see LeadOcean vs BetterContact. If the API is your main concern, read BetterContact API alternatives.
TL;DR
| Tool | Best for | Starting price | Cost at 1M records a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| LeadOcean | API, agent and volume buyers | Free (1,000 records, one-off). Pro $499 a month | $499 a month flat. Fair use applies |
| FullEnrich | A waterfall with search and MCP | Pro $29 a month for 500 credits | No public price at 1M. Top tier is $3,500 a month for 100,000 credits |
| LeadMagic | Low per-credit price for valid emails | Essential $99 a month for 5,000 credits | No public price at 1M. Top tier is Ultimate, $849 a month for 100,000 credits |
| BlitzAPI | Flat-price people and company search by API | Core $399 a month. Plus $499 adds verified emails | $499 on Plus, inside its 15M monthly results limit (accounts opened by September 30, 2026) |
| Prospeo | Reps who want an extension and pay-as-you-go emails | Starter $49 per user a month | $14,456 a month on monthly billing, or $11,223 billed once on yearly billing |
| Findymail | Verified emails with a bounce guarantee | Not published. See Findymail's pricing page | Not published |
"1M records" here means 1M work-email lookups that return a result, one credit each where the vendor uses credits. Figures are list prices. Where a vendor sells no plan at 1M, the cell says so and names its top public tier. Enterprise quotes may be lower, so ask each vendor at your volume.
For reference, BetterContact has no public price at 1M. Its highest public tier is 50,000 credits for $1,999 a month ($0.03998 a credit), and Enterprise is from $799 on a custom quote (BetterContact pricing, September 2026). Extrapolating the top step gives $39,980 for 1M credits, which is arithmetic, not a public price. The other steps are 1,000 credits $49, 3,000 $149, 5,000 $199, 10,000 $399, 20,000 $799 and 30,000 $1,199 (BetterContact pricing, September 2026).
What we evaluated
- API access: which plan opens it, the endpoints that return people and companies, and the default rate limit.
- MCP: whether an agent can search and enrich through the server, or only read documentation.
- Price model: flat, credits or seats, and what 1M records a month costs at list price.
- Data: stated coverage, email and phone fields, and search filters.
- Limits that bite: plan gates, daily caps, credit rules and fair-use clauses.
We read each vendor's pricing page and docs in September 2026. We ran no find-rate or accuracy test for this page, so we quote no quality numbers. That matters for a waterfall buyer: BetterContact's edge is find rate on a list you already own, and we did not measure it.
1. LeadOcean: best for API, agent and volume buyers
LeadOcean is one dataset behind one REST API and one MCP server. It holds 693M people, 366M with an email and 166M with a phone number, plus 63M companies. You search with 50 people filters and 34 company filters. Counts are free. Enrichment is POST /v1/people/enrich, phones are GET /v2/people/phone, and exports run up to 50,000 rows per request.
The price does not move with volume. Pro is $499 a month with unlimited searches, enrichments and lookups, 5 API keys and 100 requests per second per key. There are no credits and no overage invoice. A very large month is paced down to one request a minute until the reset, not cut off. More headroom is one email to support.
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/people/enrich" \
-H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
-H "content-type: application/json" \
-d '{"linkedin_url":"https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe","reveal_email":true}'The call is synchronous: a request goes in and a record comes back. The MCP server at https://api.leadocean.io/mcp signs in with OAuth 2.1 and exposes 12 tools, from search_leads to find_phone and export_leads. Claude, Cursor or your own agent can pull records directly, and count_leads is free, so you can size an audience before you pull it.
Pros
- Flat $499 a month at any volume, with no credit meter.
- REST and MCP on every plan, including Free.
- Email status on every record, from
verifiedtospam_trap. - Free counts, and a miss on
POST /v1/people/enrichis a free 404.
Cons
- No waterfall across other providers, so a list you own may find less than BetterContact finds.
- No table workflow builder. You work in the app's Exports page, the API or MCP.
- One dataset, so a niche source needs another tool.
Best for: engineers, RevOps and agents that need volume and a fixed bill.
Pricing: Free is 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).
2. FullEnrich: best for a waterfall with search and MCP
FullEnrich is the closest swap if you want to keep the waterfall. It queries 25+ sources for each contact and charges only for data it finds. Its pricing page lists API access, people and company search and an MCP server on Pro (FullEnrich pricing, September 2026). Search is part of the same plan, which BetterContact handles as a separate finder.
Credits are the meter, and the rates match BetterContact's shape. A work email costs 1 credit, a personal email 3 and a mobile 10. Search costs 0.25 credits per person returned (FullEnrich docs, September 2026). Pro starts at $29 a month for 500 credits ($0.058 each). The 1,000-credit tier is $55 a month ($0.055 each), and the top public monthly tier is 100,000 credits for $3,500 ($0.035 each) (FullEnrich pricing, September 2026). Above that, contact sales. The yearly toggle lists 1,200,000 credits a year for $37,800 billed yearly. FullEnrich says annual plans grant credits per year with a 12-month rollover, but it does not say whether they arrive upfront or monthly (FullEnrich pricing, October 2026). Ask before you plan a 1M month on the yearly tier.
The API allows 60 calls a minute, with up to 100 contacts in a bulk request. Higher limits are an Enterprise feature (FullEnrich docs, September 2026). The MCP server can search, enrich and export, and it asks you before it spends credits (FullEnrich help, September 2026).
Pros
- Waterfall across 25+ sources, so one call covers several vendors.
- Search, enrichment and export in the MCP server.
- SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and CCPA listed on the pricing page.
- Credits roll over for 3 months on monthly plans.
Cons
- Mobiles cost 10 credits each, so phone-heavy pulls get expensive fast.
- The default API limit of 60 calls a minute is lower than BetterContact's 100 to 200.
- A credit meter at volume. There is no public price at 1M work emails, and the top public tier is $3,500 a month for 100,000 credits.
Best for: teams that want waterfall emails and mobiles with an MCP server and people search.
Pricing: Pro from $29 a month for 500 credits up to $3,500 for 100,000, then contact sales (FullEnrich pricing, September 2026).
3. LeadMagic: best for a low per-credit price on valid emails
LeadMagic is a credit-based enrichment API. It lists 400M+ people profiles and 25M+ companies, and reaches them through REST, CSV, a command-line tool and a hosted MCP server (LeadMagic, September 2026). Failed lookups cost nothing, the same rule BetterContact applies.
The credit price falls as you climb the plans. Billed monthly, Essential is $99 for 5,000 credits, Professional is $499 for 50,000 and Ultimate is $849 for 100,000, or $0.00849 a credit. Yearly billing gets credits from $0.007 (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026). A valid email costs 1 credit and a mobile costs 5, half of BetterContact's 10.
The Email Finder endpoint allows 600 requests a minute. LeadMagic also states that a sustained find rate below 10% can lead to throttling or suspension (LeadMagic docs, September 2026). The MCP server uses OAuth, and a preview_cost call shows the price of a large job first (LeadMagic docs, September 2026).
Pros
- The lowest per-credit list price among the credit-based tools here.
- No charge when an email is not found.
- Hosted MCP with a cost preview before large operations.
- 600 requests a minute on Email Finder, three times BetterContact Pro.
Cons
- The top self-serve plan is 100,000 credits a month, so 1M needs an Enterprise quote.
- A smaller stated database: 400M+ people profiles.
- A minimum find-rate policy can throttle lists with poor match rates.
Best for: teams that enrich a few hundred thousand valid emails a month and want the cheapest credits.
Pricing: Essential $99, Growth $249, Professional $499, Ultimate $849 a month, billed monthly (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026).
4. BlitzAPI: best for flat-price search and enrichment by API
BlitzAPI sells B2B data as an API on flat monthly plans. Its pricing page lists 550M+ profiles, 65M+ companies, 65M+ verified emails and 45M+ US phone numbers (BlitzAPI pricing, September 2026). It is the closest rival to LeadOcean on price model.
The plan ladder is where it gets fiddly. Core is $399 a month and leaves out emails and phones. Plus is $499 and adds verified work emails. Full is $599 and adds US phone numbers. If you enrich for contact data, you buy Plus or Full.
Two details to check before you commit. The 50 requests per second and 15,000,000 monthly results are tied to accounts opened by September 30, 2026, against a standard 5 per second. Limits for accounts opened later are not published, and limits also apply per endpoint (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026). And its MCP server gives an assistant the API documentation, not the data (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026).
Pros
- Flat monthly price. The 15,000,000 results a month limit is a launch offer for accounts opened by September 30, 2026 (BlitzAPI terms, September 2026).
- No credit meter, so a large month does not change the bill.
- A free trial of 1,000 credits with no card.
Cons
- Three paid tiers, and phones need the top one.
- Phone numbers are US only.
- The MCP server reads docs. An agent cannot search or enrich through it.
- The fast rate limit depends on when the account opened.
Best for: teams that want a flat-price search and enrichment API and run their own code.
Pricing: Core $399, Plus $499, Full $599 a month (BlitzAPI pricing, September 2026).
5. Prospeo: best for reps who want an extension and pay-as-you-go emails
Prospeo is an email and mobile finder sold per user on credits. It has a REST API and an MCP server. One verified email costs 1 credit and one mobile costs 10, the same rates as BetterContact (Prospeo help center, September 2026). It also ships a Chrome extension, which BetterContact does not list.
Plans are per user. Starter is $49 a month with 2,000 credits, Growth is $99 with 5,000 and Pro is $249 with 15,000. Free gives 100 credits a month. Free API access is disputed. The pricing table shows no Public API on Free. The help center lists limited access at 50 requests a day. The API docs say free API access for all users (Prospeo pricing, September 2026; Prospeo help center, September 2026). Add-on credits fall to $0.01 each at 350,000 a month, or $0.009 at 500,000 a year. No add-on reaches 1M in a month.
The API is metered per second and per day. Enrichment on Starter is 5 a second and 2,000 a day, and on Pro it is 30 a second and 500,000 a day (Prospeo rate limits, September 2026). Search returns 25 results a page and stops at 25,000 per search (Prospeo API docs, September 2026). The hosted MCP server has 8 tools (Prospeo MCP docs, September 2026).
Pros
- Chrome extension, CRM sync on Growth and Pro, and job change tracking.
- Enrichment is charged only when a verified result is found.
- Hosted MCP server with OAuth or an API key.
Cons
- Every paid plan is priced per user, so seats and credits both scale the bill.
- Daily request caps on Starter and Growth, and 25 search results a page.
- Mobiles cost 10 credits each.
Best for: small sales teams that prospect in a browser and want cheap emails.
Pricing: Free. Starter $49, Growth $99, Pro $249 per user a month (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).
6. Findymail: best for verified emails with a bounce guarantee
Findymail is an email finder that verifies each address when you ask for it. It charges 1 finder credit per verified email found and 10 per phone number (Findymail API docs, October 2026). Findymail's pricing page blocks automated reading, so see its pricing page for current plans and prices.
Findymail advertises a bounce guarantee on its pricing page. The API is REST with bearer tokens, and its docs list 300 concurrent requests (Findymail API docs, September 2026). The official MCP server has 14 tools and signs in through the browser or a bearer token (Findymail Cursor plugin, September 2026).
Two limits matter for a BetterContact buyer. The phone endpoint returns US numbers only and nothing for EU citizens. And lead search is a plain-language query, not a set of structured filters.
Pros
- Every email is verified on request, and you pay only for emails found.
- A bounce guarantee advertised on its pricing page.
- Signals for job changes and new hires, plus one-click push to sequencers.
Cons
- US-only phone numbers at 10 credits each.
- No structured search filters in the docs.
- No public price we could read at volume.
Best for: outbound teams and agencies that want verified emails with a guarantee.
Pricing: Not published here. See Findymail's pricing page.

Sources are linked in each tool section, all checked in September 2026. Vendors change plans often, so confirm on the pricing page before you buy. The 1M column is list price on email lookups where a vendor sells that volume. FullEnrich and LeadMagic sell no plan at 1M, so their cells name the top public tier. Prospeo is the cheapest public mix of Pro seats and its largest add-on. Findymail's pricing page blocks automated reading, so its cells say so. BlitzAPI's price is for accounts opened by September 30, 2026.
How to choose
- You pull data in code or with an agent, at volume: LeadOcean. One flat price, REST and MCP on every plan, 100 requests per second.
- You still want a waterfall: FullEnrich, and budget 10 credits per mobile.
- You buy valid emails by the hundred thousand: LeadMagic, at $0.00849 a credit on Ultimate.
- You want a flat-price API from a second vendor: BlitzAPI Plus, if you can live with a docs-only MCP server.
- Your reps prospect in a browser: Prospeo, and count seats as well as credits.
- You send cold email and want a bounce guarantee: Findymail.
- You own a list and need the widest find rate: stay on BetterContact, or run LeadOcean first and send only the misses to BetterContact. See the LeadOcean vs BetterContact page for that split.
Verdict
LeadOcean wins for API, agent and volume buyers. It has a flat price, emails and phones in one plan, and an MCP server that returns records. FullEnrich wins if you want to keep a waterfall and add search and MCP. LeadMagic wins on cheap valid emails and BlitzAPI is the flat-price runner-up if you run your own code. Prospeo suits reps who live in a browser, and Findymail suits teams that want a bounce guarantee. Stay on BetterContact if a 20-provider waterfall on a list you own is the job. Otherwise start on the free plan and compare the same lookups.
FAQ
Why do teams leave BetterContact?
Cost at volume and API shape. Every valid email is 1 credit and every mobile is 10 (BetterContact pricing, September 2026). The API is capped at 100 to 200 requests a minute, and we found no MCP server. Teams that pull data in code or through an agent often move to a flat-price API.
What is the cheapest BetterContact alternative at volume?
At 1M records a month, LeadOcean at $499 flat and BlitzAPI Plus at $499 are cheapest on list price. BlitzAPI's price applies to accounts opened by September 30, 2026. FullEnrich and LeadMagic sell no public plan at 1M, Findymail publishes no price we could read, and Prospeo's cheapest public mix is $14,456 a month. Enterprise quotes may narrow the gap.
What does BetterContact cost at 1M records a month?
BetterContact publishes no price at that volume. Its highest public tier is 50,000 credits for $1,999 a month ($0.03998 a credit). Extrapolating that rate gives $39,980 for 1M valid emails, which is arithmetic, not a public price. Mobiles cost 10 credits each. Enterprise is from $799 a month on a custom quote (BetterContact pricing, September 2026).
Which BetterContact alternative has an MCP server that returns data?
LeadOcean, FullEnrich, LeadMagic, Prospeo and Findymail all do. BlitzAPI's server reads documentation only. We found no MCP endpoint in BetterContact's docs index. Compare the tools each server exposes before you choose.
Can I use LeadOcean with BetterContact?
Yes. Use LeadOcean to build and size the list, then send only the rows without a verified email to BetterContact. BetterContact's enrichment endpoint takes up to 100 leads a call (BetterContact API docs, September 2026). You pay BetterContact for the gap, not the whole list.
Do I need a credit card to try LeadOcean?
No. The free plan needs a work email and no card. It gives you 1,000 records, one-off, with the same API and MCP server as Pro. See pricing.
