Coresignal and BetterContact both bill by the credit, but they sell different things. Coresignal sells raw professional records: employees, companies and job postings. BetterContact finds a work email or mobile number for a lead you already have. Pick by what you need back from each call.
Verdict
- Pick Coresignal if you need profile, company and job-posting records at scale, a rate limit that reaches 100+ requests a second, an MCP server that searches records, or licensed flat-file datasets (Coresignal, September 2026).
- Pick BetterContact if you have a list of names and company domains and want the highest find rate on emails and mobiles, from $15 a month (BetterContact pricing, September 2026).
- Pick neither if you want search, emails, phones and bulk export on one flat price at 1M records. Neither publishes a 1M price. LeadOcean is one option, covered below.

Figures come from the vendors' pages linked in each cell, checked in September 2026. Both change plans often, so confirm before you buy.
Data and coverage
Coresignal owns a dataset. BetterContact asks other datasets. That split explains most of the table.
Coresignal lists 907M+ employee records, 70M+ companies and 482M+ job postings, with company data delivered daily (Coresignal, September 2026). BetterContact publishes no database size. Its homepage says it cascades through 20+ providers, and its 545M+ figure describes the data points behind its routing, not a contact count (BetterContact, September 2026).
Size is not contact data. Coresignal counts professional profiles. The email sits only on the multi-source employee record, with four statuses: verified, matched_email, matched_pattern and guessed_common_pattern. The Base Employee API lists no email field (Coresignal data dictionary, September 2026).
Phones are the clearest gap. Coresignal's employee dictionaries list no phone field, so a dial list means a second vendor. BetterContact sells a mobile at 10 credits and bills it only when the number is valid (BetterContact docs, September 2026). It publishes no country split, so run a sample of your own regions first.
Input matters too. BetterContact needs a first name, a last name and a company or domain for each lead. It wants a LinkedIn URL when you ask for a phone (BetterContact docs, September 2026). Coresignal also searches from scratch. Its filter and Elasticsearch search is free and returns IDs, and you pay when you collect (Coresignal docs, September 2026).
Both are vendor claims about size and quality. We did not test either, and neither publishes a hit rate.
API and developer experience
Both are plain REST with a key in a header. Coresignal answers a collect in the same call. BetterContact accepts a batch and answers later. Placeholders below stand in for real people.
Coresignal, collect a multi-source employee record from a profile shorthand name. It costs 20 credits (Coresignal docs, September 2026).
curl -X GET \
"https://api.coresignal.com/cdapi/v2/employee_multi_source/collect/jane-doe" \
-H "accept: application/json" \
-H "apikey: $CORESIGNAL_API_KEY"The record carries primary_professional_email and its status among 300+ data fields. You asked for a person and got a profile, with the email as one field in it.
BetterContact, submit one lead for email enrichment. A batch takes up to 100 leads.
curl --request POST \
--url "https://app.bettercontact.rocks/api/v2/async" \
--header "X-API-Key: $BETTERCONTACT_API_KEY" \
--header "Content-Type: application/json" \
--data '{
"data": [{
"first_name": "Jane",
"last_name": "Doe",
"company_domain": "acme.com"
}],
"enrich_email_address": true,
"webhook": "https://example.com/bettercontact/results"
}'A 201 means the batch was accepted, not enriched. You keep the returned id and wait for the webhook or poll GET /async/{request_id}. The docs warn that submissions are not idempotent, so a retried successful POST spends credits twice (BetterContact docs, September 2026).
Rate limits shape the work. Coresignal ties speed to the plan. At 50 requests a second on Premium, 1M single collects take 1,000,000 / 50 = 20,000 seconds, about 5.6 hours. Bulk Collect takes up to 10,000 records per request, so 1M profiles is 100 requests (Coresignal docs, September 2026).
BetterContact counts per minute, across all endpoints together. On Pro, 200 requests a minute at 100 leads a call is 20,000 leads a minute, so 1M leads is 50 minutes of submitting before the waterfall runs. Over the limit it returns 429 with the body Retry later, and a client that retries too hard can get blocked (BetterContact docs, September 2026).
On MCP, only Coresignal helps an agent pull records. Its server signs in with OAuth 2.1, has 5 tools, and bills entity_search at 20 credits a call and entity_fetch at 20 credits per employee or company record. It excludes EEA and UK employees from email lookups (Coresignal MCP docs, September 2026). We found no MCP server in BetterContact's docs index.
Pricing
Price both as work-email lookups. Coresignal bills 20 credits a call through its Contact Enrichment API, included from Pro upward. BetterContact bills 1 credit per valid email and nothing for a miss (Coresignal pricing, September 2026; BetterContact docs, September 2026). Monthly list price comes first, billed-yearly after it.
At 10,000 records a month
BetterContact: 10,000 lookups x 1 credit = 10,000 credits. The Pro step is $399 a month, about $0.04 a lookup. Billed yearly it is about $332.50 a month ($3,990 a year), derived from its rule of paying 10 months and keeping 12 (BetterContact pricing, September 2026). Unused credits roll over, capped at twice the plan.
Coresignal: 10,000 lookups x 20 credits = 200,000 credits. Growth stops at 150,000 credits, which is 7,500 lookups. That leaves Premium at $1,500 a month for 1,000,000 credits, or $1,350 a month billed yearly ($16,200 a year). You use a fifth of it, so $0.15 a lookup on the monthly price (Coresignal pricing, September 2026). Premium credits roll over for 3 months.
Premium, Scale and Elite show Get started buttons, but the pricing page data also flags them as contact-sales, so expect a call before you buy them (Coresignal pricing, September 2026).
At 10,000 emails a month BetterContact is about a quarter of the price. The units differ, though. A BetterContact credit buys a found email. A Coresignal call returns a full record, and a Base profile with no email is 10 credits.
At 1M records a month
Neither tool publishes a price at 1M. Here is what each public ceiling covers.
Coresignal: 1,000,000 lookups x 20 credits = 20,000,000 credits. The top plan, Elite, is $5,000 a month for 10,000,000 credits, or $4,500 a month billed yearly. That covers 500,000 lookups, so $0.01 a lookup at the Elite rate. Coresignal lists nothing above Elite, so 1M lookups means a quote (Coresignal pricing, September 2026).
If you want profiles and not emails, the sum changes. A Base record is 10 credits, so 1M Base records is exactly 10,000,000 credits, one Elite month at $5,000 (Coresignal docs, September 2026). Base employee records carry no email.
BetterContact: 1M lookups need 1,000,000 credits. The top public step is 50,000 credits for $1,999 a month ($0.03998 a credit), which is 5% of that volume. Enterprise is listed from $799 a month on a custom quote (BetterContact pricing, September 2026). A million lookups in one month needs a quote.
On the top public plans Coresignal costs about a quarter of BetterContact per lookup, $0.01 against $0.04. The catch is volume. Elite stops at 500,000 lookups, and BetterContact's top step stops at 50,000.
Phones change the sums. A mobile is 10 credits, so 5,000 mobiles use the whole 50,000-credit top step at $1,999. The BetterContact API also needs a phone add-on for phone enrichment, or it returns 402, and no add-on price is published (BetterContact docs, September 2026). Coresignal has no phone field to price.
Where Coresignal wins
- Raw size and signals. 907M+ employee records, 70M+ companies and 482M+ job postings, each sold on its own.
- Scale on a public price list. Elite publishes 10,000,000 credits and 100+ requests a second. BetterContact's top step is 50,000 credits.
- Bulk and datasets. Bulk Collect takes 10,000 records per request, and flat-file datasets start at $1,000 a month (Coresignal pricing, September 2026).
- An MCP server that returns records. An agent can search and fetch employees, companies and jobs.
- Free search. Search by filter or Elasticsearch DSL costs nothing until you collect.
Where BetterContact wins
- Find rate on a list you own. A waterfall asks the next provider when one misses, and you pay only for valid results.
- Mobile numbers. Coresignal lists no phone field. BetterContact sells a mobile at 10 credits and scores each one by likelihood to connect (BetterContact pricing, September 2026).
- Small volume. Starter is $15 a month and Pro starts at $49. Coresignal's Contact Enrichment API starts at Pro, $499 a month.
- No-code reach. 28 native integrations, including Clay, HubSpot and Zapier, plus CSV upload (BetterContact, September 2026).
If you need volume through an API
LeadOcean is a people and company database you call over REST or MCP, with one flat price. Free gives you 1,000 records, one-off, with no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat, with no credits and no per-record price. It covers 693M people and 63M companies, with a phone number for 166M people at GET /v2/people/phone.
The limit is 100 requests per second per key on every plan, and POST /v1/exports takes up to 50,000 rows per request. The MCP server searches, enriches and exports records, and the app has an Exports page with a filter builder and CSV download (LeadOcean exports docs, September 2026). LeadOcean has no job postings and no waterfall across other providers. See pricing.
FAQ
Which is cheaper, Coresignal or BetterContact?
At 10,000 work emails a month BetterContact Pro is cheaper: $399 against $1,500 on Coresignal Premium. At the top public plans Coresignal is cheaper per lookup, $0.01 against $0.04, but neither publishes a price at 1M.
Does Coresignal have phone numbers?
No phone field appears in its multi-source or Base employee dictionaries (Coresignal data dictionary, September 2026). BetterContact sells mobile numbers at 10 credits each.
Do Coresignal or BetterContact have an MCP server?
Coresignal does, with OAuth 2.1 and 5 tools (Coresignal MCP docs, September 2026). We found none in BetterContact's docs index (BetterContact docs, September 2026).
Can I search for new leads with each?
Coresignal is built for it, with free search over its own dataset. BetterContact's core job is enriching leads you supply, each with a name and a company or domain.
Do the credits roll over?
Yes on both, with limits. BetterContact rolls unused credits over, capped at twice the plan, and annual plans extend that to 12 months. Coresignal gives Premium, Scale and Elite monthly plans a 3-month rollover, and other monthly plans reset each cycle (BetterContact pricing, September 2026; Coresignal docs, September 2026).
Can I use both?
Yes. Use Coresignal for company records and job signals, then send the contacts with no email or phone to BetterContact. You pay BetterContact only for valid results.
