The cheapest paid BuiltWith plan is Basic at $295 a month. Pro at $495 a month is the plan BuiltWith calls its most popular. Single-site lookups are free (BuiltWith plans, September 2026).
One record here means one domain lookup, and one API credit buys one lookup. Team at $995 a month includes 1.2 million API credits, but BuiltWith does not say whether they renew each month. BuiltWith publishes no 1M price card, so any 1M cost is a derived figure, not a quote.
Plans
BuiltWith sells three self-serve plans and a fourth for volume. All plans can be cancelled at any time, and the page offers a discounted yearly toggle. The yearly figures below come from the toggle on the plans page.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | None | 1 | Free API, counts only, 1 request a second | Individual site lookups, free forever |

Source: BuiltWith plans and Team Ultra, checked September 2026. The free tier is on the plans page. The Free API is documented at api.builtwith.com/free-api.
Every plan includes CRM integrations, 127,688 tracked technologies, Excel and CSV export and data on 491.9 million domains. The cards show a 1-login limit on Basic and Pro. Neither card states an API credit allowance.
Yearly billing is ten months for twelve on Basic, Pro and Team. The Team Ultra price is not on a visible card: the plans page code sets it at $6,000 a month and $72,000 a year, with no yearly discount. Confirm it in writing.
What a credit buys
One API credit buys one lookup on most endpoints. Credits are the API meter. The plan reports on builtwith.com are a separate allowance.
| Action | Credits | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Domain API lookup (up to 16 domains a call) | 1 per domain | BuiltWith API reference |
| Bulk Domain job | 1 per domain | BuiltWith API reference |
| Relationships, Tags, Recommendations, Redirects, Keywords, Product, Company to URL | 1 per lookup | BuiltWith API reference |
| Trust data (TRUST=yes on a Domain call) | 1 extra | Domain API docs |
| Ask (natural language list lookup) | 1 per query, sample results | BuiltWith API reference |
| VAT lookup | 1, only if a registration is returned | BuiltWith API reference |
| Free API, Trends API, WhoAmI, Usage, MCP registry | 0 | BuiltWith API reference |
| Lists API, Keyword Search API | Subscription required | BuiltWith API reference |
All sources checked September 2026. The Lists API pulls every site using a technology. Its credit cost is not in the public docs.
Hidden costs
The plan price is the start. The API meter, the rate limit and the contract terms add the rest.
- API credits are separate from reports. Pro shows unlimited reports, yet the credit count for Basic and Pro is not public. Team is the first plan with a stated figure (BuiltWith Team Ultra, September 2026).
- Lists and keyword search are gated. Both need a subscription, and neither shows a credit price (BuiltWith API reference, September 2026).
- Rate limit is 10 requests a second, 8 at once. Over that you get a 429. Removing the limit means a dedicated endpoint, which is Team Ultra territory (BuiltWith API reference, September 2026).
- Contacts are filtered. EU and California personal data is removed automatically, and the Domain API lets you strip names and emails with NOPII (Domain API docs, September 2026).
- Resale is barred. You cannot resell the data as-is or build a product that duplicates builtwith.com (Domain API docs, September 2026).
- Account credit prices are behind a login. The price of extra API credits on an account is not on a public page.
- Prepaid credits need USDC. The accountless route takes USDC on Base. Pay-per-call is $0.0495 a lookup (BuiltWith x402 docs, September 2026).
- Datasets cost a tier up. Team has none. Team Ultra includes datasets of up to 100,000,000 records (BuiltWith Team Ultra, September 2026).
Worked examples
Each example counts one domain lookup, which is one credit, as one record. Prepaid prices come from BuiltWith's x402 tier table (BuiltWith x402 descriptor, September 2026). Prices are USD list.
10k records a month
- Pre-paid credits: 10,000 sits in the 2,001 to 10,000 band at $0.02. If the band covers the batch, 10,000 x $0.02 = $200. If bands stack, 2,000 x $0.0495 + 8,000 x $0.02 = $99 + $160 = $259.
- Pay-per-call: 10,000 x $0.0495 = $495.
- Pro plan: $495 a month, or $4,950 / 12 = $412.50 a month billed yearly. Its API credit allowance is not public.
- LeadOcean Pro: $499 flat. At 10k, BuiltWith's prepaid credits are the cheaper route.
1M records a month
- Team: 1,000,000 lookups fit inside 1.2 million credits once. $995 a month, or $9,950 / 12 = $829 a month billed yearly. BuiltWith does not say whether the 1.2 million renew monthly, so a second month may need more credits.
- Prepaid credits: 1,000,000 sits in the 500,001 to 1,000,000 band at $0.00710. 1,000,000 x $0.00710 = $7,100. If bands stack the total is $6,434. The descriptor prints this band above the $0.0045 band below it and does not say whether bands stack.
- Rate: 1,000,000 / 16 domains a call = 62,500 calls. At 10 requests a second that is 6,250 seconds, under 2 hours.
- LeadOcean Pro: $499 flat. Exports run up to 50,000 rows per request and 500,000 rows a day, so 1M is 20 requests over 2 days.
25M records a month
- Team Ultra: unlimited lookups on your own endpoint, $6,000 a month. 25,000,000 lookups at $6,000 is $0.00024 each.
- Prepaid credits: above 10,000,000 the rate is $0.001. 25,000,000 x $0.001 = $25,000 if the band covers the batch. If bands stack, the total is $36,584.
- LeadOcean Pro: $499 flat. 25M is past the 10,000,000 export ceiling per period, and a very large month is paced down to one request a minute past the fair-usage line, not cut off. One email to support gets more headroom.
BuiltWith wins on price per lookup at volume. LeadOcean wins on predictability, but it returns people and companies, not a per-domain technology history.
Is it worth it
BuiltWith is worth it when you need the full technology profile of a domain, its history and its spend. It is a technographics database, not a contact database.
- Analyst or founder doing research: Basic or Pro. Pro at $495 gives unlimited reports, and single lookups are free.
- Agency or SaaS sales team building lists by technology: Pro. You get unlimited technology and keyword reports for one login.
- Team with several reps: Team at $995, because it has unlimited logins and a stated 1.2 million API credits.
- Data engineer enriching a domain list: Prepaid credits at $0.02 or lower per lookup beat any plan below 25,000 lookups a month.
- Buyer who needs people: BuiltWith lists contacts found on websites, filtered for privacy. It is not a verified-email database.

Alternatives with a different price model
These three charge by plan tier, by credit, or a flat fee, not by the BuiltWith credit meter.
Wappalyzer: plan tiers with lookup quotas. Pro is $250 a month for 5,000 technology lookups and 2 lead-list technology targets. Business is $450 for 20,000 lookups and 20,000 API credits. Enterprise starts at $850 for 200,000+. API credits expire after 60 days (Wappalyzer pricing, September 2026). It publishes no price at 1M.
UpLead: credits per contact. Plus is $199 a month for 400 credits, and extra credits cost $0.50 each, capped at $2,000 of purchases a day. It tracks 27K+ technologies, with the full API only on the custom Professional plan (UpLead pricing, September 2026). It publishes no price at 1M.
LeadOcean: flat fee. Free is 1,000 records one-off with no card. Pro is $499 a month with unlimited searches, enrichments and lookups, 100 requests per second per key and 5 API keys. There are no credits and no overage invoice. It filters 105 technology categories across about 7.8M crawled sites, over 693M people and 63M companies, through REST and MCP. It does not return a per-domain technology history. See pricing.
