People leave Clearout over price rules and API speed. The same credits carry three prices. At 1M, that is $1,260 a month billed monthly, $800 a month billed yearly, or $1,400 one-off. (Clearout pricing, October 2026).
The API is the second reason. Limits follow the credit tier: 3 instant checks a minute on Freemium, 55 on Pro 10K and 300 on Pro 1M (Clearout API docs, October 2026). Deep Verify spends 5 credits when it resolves an address (Clearout docs, October 2026). We found no MCP server in its docs index.
This page ranks seven alternatives for API and volume buyers. Six check addresses you already hold. LeadOcean sells the records themselves. For Clearout's own plans, read Clearout pricing.
TL;DR
| Tool | Best for | Starting price | Cost at 1M records a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| MillionVerifier | Lowest price per check at volume | 100 free credits. $39 for 10,000 | $449 one-off pack |
| Bouncer | Batch API with free unknowns | 100 free credits. $8 for 1,000 | $2,000 one-off |
| ZeroBounce | Real-time API headroom and a deliverability toolkit | 100 free credits a month. ONE $99 a month ($79 billed yearly) | $3,199 one-off, or $2,499 a month ($1,999 billed yearly) |
| Kickbox | Sign-up form checks through an API | 100 free checks. $5 for 500 | $2,999 one-off |
| NeverBounce | A pay-as-you-go verifier with an API key per integration | Pricing page behind a bot check | No price we could read |
| Hunter | Finding and verifying emails together, with MCP | Free 50 credits a month. Starter $49 a month ($34 billed yearly) | No public 1M price |
| LeadOcean | Building the list in code or with an agent | Free (1,000 records, one-off). Pro $499 a month | $499 a month flat. Fair use applies |
"1M records" here means 1M email checks, one credit each. LeadOcean's row is 1M records returned, not 1M checks. Figures are list-price arithmetic from each pricing page, in USD. For reference, Clearout is $1,260 a month billed monthly ($800 billed yearly) or $1,400 one-off at 1M (Clearout pricing, October 2026).
What we evaluated
- API: single and batch endpoints, the stated rate limit and how you send a large file.
- Price at volume: list price at 1M checks, monthly first and billed-yearly after it, with the one-off pack where one exists.
- Unknown results: whether you pay for an answer the verifier could not give. Clearout does not charge for them.
- MCP: whether an agent has a server it can call, or only documentation.
- Limits that bite: file sizes, batch caps, credit expiry, minimum purchases and what happens past 1M.
We read each vendor's pricing page and docs in September and October 2026. We ran no accuracy or bounce test for this page, so we quote no accuracy numbers of our own. Where a vendor quotes one, we label it a vendor claim.
1. MillionVerifier: best for the lowest price per check at volume
MillionVerifier does one job at the lowest list price in this group. One million checks cost $449 as a one-off pack, about $0.00045 a credit. There is no subscription, and the packs never expire (MillionVerifier pricing, October 2026). Clearout's one-off 1M pack is $1,400, so this costs about a third of that.
The API is built for speed. The single-check endpoint allows 160 requests per second per account (MillionVerifier help, October 2026). Clearout's top tier is 300 a minute. A bulk file holds at most 1 million emails and 100MB, and two files run at once (MillionVerifier help, October 2026).
Read the catch-all terms. A risky or unknown credit is deducted, then added back as a promotional credit after the run. MillionVerifier can remove that add-back for accounts it flags, and publishes no threshold (MillionVerifier help, October 2026). It says 30% to 40% of catch-all addresses resolve to valid or invalid. That is a vendor figure, not our test (MillionVerifier, October 2026).
Pros
- $449 for 1M checks, the cheapest published price in this group.
- 160 requests per second on the single API.
- Packs never expire and there is no subscription to cancel.
- Catch-all resolution is included in the one credit.
Cons
- Unknown credits come back as goodwill, not by contract. Clearout makes them free outright.
- No monthly plan and no custom quantity. You pick a listed pack.
- No MCP server in its docs. It verifies addresses and does not find them.
Best for: teams cleaning 100,000 to 25M addresses who want the lowest bill and can live with pack-based buying.
Pricing: Free 100 credits. 10K pack $39, 1M pack $449, 25M pack $4,999 (MillionVerifier pricing, October 2026).
2. Bouncer: best for a batch API with free unknowns
Bouncer is the closest match to Clearout's pay-as-you-go packs, with the same free-unknowns rule. Credits start at $8 for 1,000 and fall to $2,000 for 1M. They never expire, and Bouncer does not charge for duplicates or unknown results (Bouncer pricing, October 2026). Above 1M you contact sales.
It offers three API modes. Real-time is capped at 1,000 requests per minute by default, with higher limits set up on request (Bouncer API docs, October 2026). That is well above Clearout's 55 a minute on Pro 10K. Batch takes up to 100,000 emails, and you can create 60 batches a minute (Bouncer API docs, October 2026).
Batch Sync keeps a 24-hour cache, so the same address is not verified twice in a day (Bouncer docs, October 2026). Bouncer also sells a toxicity check, which scores addresses on a 0 to 5 scale. The Deliverability Kit is a separate subscription at $25, $125 and $250 a month (Bouncer pricing, October 2026). Its docs index lists no MCP server (Bouncer docs index, October 2026).
Pros
- No charge for unknown results or duplicates.
- Credits never expire, and 100 free credits to start.
- Batch Sync endpoint with a 24-hour cache and an internal queue.
- Toxicity scoring on top of deliverability.
Cons
- $2,000 for 1M is more than four times MillionVerifier's pack, and above Clearout's $1,400 one-off.
- Real-time defaults to 1,000 requests a minute, low for sign-up spikes.
- Batches are processed one after another, so a large batch holds up small ones.
Best for: engineers who run large offline batches and want unknowns free without a subscription.
Pricing: $8 per 1,000 credits, $400 for 100,000, $2,000 for 1M (Bouncer pricing, October 2026).
3. ZeroBounce: best for real-time API headroom and a deliverability toolkit
ZeroBounce has the widest API in the group. Its docs state a limit of 80,000 requests in 10 seconds, or 100,000 on the ONE subscription, with a one-minute block if you exceed it (ZeroBounce API docs, September 2026). Batch calls take up to 200 emails, and a file endpoint takes bigger lists. Multiple API keys come on every account.
Pricing has two routes. Pay as you go is $39 for 2,000 credits and $3,199 for 1M, one-off. ONE is a subscription from $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, for 10,000 credits plus inbox, blacklist and DMARC tools. At 1M it is $2,499 a month, or $1,999 billed yearly (ZeroBounce pricing, September 2026).
An unknown result costs nothing, and so does a duplicate. Email Finder queries cost 20 credits each, against 4 credits for a found email at Clearout. The docs say allow 45 to 60 minutes per 100,000 contacts (ZeroBounce docs, September 2026). No MCP server appears in those docs.
Pros
- The highest stated real-time rate limit in this group.
- Unknown results and duplicates are free, as at Clearout.
- Freemium gives 100 credits every month, not once.
- ONE bundles inbox placement, blacklist monitoring and DMARC.
Cons
- $3,199 for 1M is about seven times MillionVerifier, and well above Clearout.
- Small packs cost more per credit: $0.0195 at 2,000 against $0.0032 at 1M.
- ONE is a bundle you pay for whether you use the tools or not.
Best for: developers validating sign-ups in real time, and deliverability leads who want the tools in one bill.
Pricing: Freemium 100 credits a month. Pay as you go from $39 once. ONE from $99 a month ($79 billed yearly) (ZeroBounce pricing, September 2026).
4. Kickbox: best for sign-up form checks through an API
Kickbox is a developer-first verifier with the simplest price list here. Credits run $5 for 500, $10 for 1,000, $500 for 100,000 and $2,999 for 1M. It lists one-off credit packs only, and unknown results are refunded (Kickbox pricing, October 2026). Above 1M you talk to sales, and 100 checks are free to start.
The API suits point-of-capture work. Each IP can hold 25 parallel requests, with a separate limit of 8,000 requests per clock minute (Kickbox API docs, October 2026). Batch jobs take lists of up to 1 million addresses by API. Sandbox keys return mock results without spending credits, which helps in testing (Kickbox, October 2026).
Kickbox says it guarantees 95% accuracy. That is a vendor claim we did not test. The verification endpoints reject browser calls, so you call them from your back end.
Pros
- Sandbox keys test your integration without spending credits.
- 8,000 requests a minute, with a clear parallel-request rule.
- Unknown results are refunded.
- Batch jobs up to 1 million addresses by API.
Cons
- $2,999 for 1M is more than twice Clearout's one-off 1M pack.
- No monthly plan on the pricing page, and no price above 1M.
- No MCP server in its docs navigation.
Best for: SaaS teams that block fake sign-ups at the form and want a clean test mode.
Pricing: 100 free. $70 for 10,000. $500 for 100,000. $2,999 for 1M (Kickbox pricing, October 2026).
5. NeverBounce: best for a pay-as-you-go verifier with an API key per integration
NeverBounce is the nearest match to Clearout's pay-as-you-go model, and its price is the hardest to confirm. Its pricing page and homepage sat behind a bot check in October 2026, so we quote no NeverBounce price. Get the live plan table before you compare it with Clearout's $1,400 one-off or $800 yearly rate at 1M.
It ranks fifth on API detail, not price. The docs are public and specific, which matters more to an engineer than a marketing page.
The v4 API gives each integration its own key and settings (NeverBounce docs, October 2026). The single-check docs tell you to set a client timeout of about 10 seconds and treat a timeout as unknown (NeverBounce docs, October 2026). A list sent by API fails to start if your credit balance is short (NeverBounce docs, October 2026).
We found no rate limit in the docs we read and no MCP server in its docs index (NeverBounce docs index, October 2026).
Pros
- A separate key and settings for each integration.
- A JavaScript widget for teams without a developer.
- Five result codes: valid, invalid, disposable, catchall and unknown.
Cons
- We could not read its pricing page, so there is no price here to compare.
- The docs sample shows billable rows equal to processed rows, so unknowns may cost a credit.
- No finder and no MCP server in its docs index.
Best for: teams that want a familiar pay-as-you-go verifier and a separate key for each integration.
Pricing: not readable. neverbounce.com/pricing returned a bot check in October 2026. Read the plan table there before you buy.
6. Hunter: best for finding and verifying emails together, with MCP
Hunter finds emails first and verifies second. Plans are credit-based and shared across tools. Starter is $49 a month for 2,000 credits, or $34 billed yearly (Hunter pricing, September 2026). An Email Verifier check costs 0.5 credit, so Starter covers 4,000 checks (Hunter help center, September 2026).
For volume, the Data Platform sells Verification credits separately, one-off, valid 12 months, from $11 for 1,000 (Hunter Data Platform, September 2026). We could not read a price for 1M Verification credits, so we publish none. We do not multiply the starting rate out.
The verifier endpoint allows 10 requests a second and 300 a minute (Hunter API docs, September 2026). That matches Clearout's top tier, not the faster verifiers above. Hunter has an official remote MCP server at https://mcp.hunter.io/mcp, included in every plan (Hunter MCP, September 2026).
Pros
- Official MCP server on every plan, including Free.
- Email Finder and Verifier in the same credit pool.
- Verification is half a credit on all-in-one plans.
- A Data Platform for API and bulk use, with 12-month credit validity.
Cons
- 300 verifier calls a minute is slow for large lists.
- No public 1M verification price we could confirm.
- Monthly plan credits reset each month and do not carry over.
Best for: teams that find emails by domain and want an agent to run both steps.
Pricing: Free 50 credits a month. Starter $49 a month ($34 billed yearly). Verification credits from $11 per 1,000 (Hunter pricing, September 2026).
7. LeadOcean: best for building the list in code or with an agent
LeadOcean is on this list for a different reason. It does not verify addresses you upload, and no API endpoint takes a list to clean. It is a people and company database: 693M people, 366M with an email and 166M with a phone number, plus 63M companies. Each email comes back with an email_status from verified to spam_trap, so the status arrives with the address.
That fits one Clearout buyer: the one who pays for data and then pays again to clean it. Pro is $499 a month flat, with unlimited searches, enrichments and lookups, 5 API keys and 100 requests per second per key. A very large month is paced down to one request a minute, not cut off. There is no per-record price and no overage invoice.
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/people/enrich" \
-H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
-H "content-type: application/json" \
-d '{"linkedin_url":"https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe","reveal_email":true}'The MCP server at https://api.leadocean.io/mcp signs in with OAuth 2.1 and exposes 12 tools, from search_leads to export_leads (LeadOcean MCP docs, September 2026). The status is stored, not a live mail-server check. The dataset is refreshed monthly, and bounces get no refund or credit-back.
Pros
- Flat $499 a month, with no credit meter and no per-check cost.
email_statuson every record, filterable at search time.- REST and MCP on every plan, including Free.
- A miss on
POST /v1/people/enrichis a free 404.
Cons
- No bulk endpoint to verify a list you already own.
- The status is stored, so it can age between monthly refreshes.
- No refund for bounced emails. Read
email_statusbefore you send. - The app has an Exports page with a CSV download, and no sequencer, dialer or CRM.
Best for: engineers and agents that source contacts and need the address and its status in one call.
Pricing: Free is 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).

How to choose
- You clean one big list and want the lowest bill: MillionVerifier. $449 for 1M, with no subscription and no yearly commitment.
- You run batches by API and want unknowns free: Bouncer. Unknowns and duplicates cost nothing, as they do at Clearout.
- Clearout's per-minute API limit is the problem: ZeroBounce for the highest stated limit, Kickbox for 8,000 a minute and sandbox keys.
- You want verifying and finding in one account with an agent: Hunter. It has an official MCP server on every plan.
- You want a pay-as-you-go verifier that is not Clearout: NeverBounce, once you have confirmed its live price.
- You pull contacts in code or through an agent: LeadOcean. You get the address and its status in one call, at a flat $499 a month.
- You want the full price breakdowns first: read Clearout pricing, ZeroBounce pricing, MillionVerifier pricing and NeverBounce pricing.

Verdict
MillionVerifier wins on price for anyone cleaning a list they own, at $449 for 1M against Clearout's $1,400 one-off. Bouncer wins for batch API users who want unknowns free. ZeroBounce wins on real-time rate limit, and Kickbox on sandbox testing. NeverBounce suits buyers who want a familiar pay-as-you-go tool, once its live price is confirmed. Hunter wins when an agent runs find and verify together. LeadOcean wins for anyone who buys data and verification separately today: it replaces both with one flat price, but it will not clean a list you upload.
FAQ
Why do people leave Clearout?
Mostly for price rules and API speed. The same credits cost more billed monthly: $1,260 against $800 a month at 1M. Instant checks run from 3 to 300 a minute by credit tier (Clearout pricing, October 2026, Clearout API docs, October 2026).
What is the cheapest Clearout alternative at 1M checks?
MillionVerifier, at $449 for a 1M-credit pack (MillionVerifier pricing, October 2026). Clearout is $800 a month billed yearly, $1,260 billed monthly, or $1,400 one-off (Clearout pricing, October 2026).
Which alternative has the best real-time API?
ZeroBounce states the highest limit, at 80,000 requests in 10 seconds (ZeroBounce API docs, September 2026). Kickbox allows 8,000 a minute and gives free sandbox keys (Kickbox docs, October 2026).
Do these tools charge for unknown results like Clearout does not?
Bouncer and ZeroBounce do not charge for unknown results. Kickbox refunds the credit (Kickbox pricing, October 2026). MillionVerifier adds the credit back after the run, and can remove that add-back for flagged accounts.
Which of them have an MCP server?
Hunter has an official one at https://mcp.hunter.io/mcp, and LeadOcean has one with 12 tools. We found none in the docs of MillionVerifier, Bouncer, ZeroBounce, Kickbox or NeverBounce. Check each vendor before you rely on that.
Can LeadOcean replace Clearout?
Only if you are building the list rather than cleaning one. LeadOcean returns people and companies with a stored email_status. It has no endpoint that verifies a list you upload, so keep a verifier for that job.
Stop paying twice for the same contacts. Start with 1,000 records and see email_status on every address.
Free to start. No credit card. 1,000 records to spend whenever you like.
