Prospeo is the better buy for most API users. It has search, a first-party MCP server, published rate limits and a public path to 1M credits. Datagma is the better buy if you have a list of names and companies and need direct mobiles, with a WhatsApp check. Datagma prints no price at 1M records. The figures below come from each vendor's own pages, checked in September 2026.

Verdict

  • Pick Prospeo if you search a market by title and then enrich, or you want an MCP server and clear limits. It is cheaper at 10,000 records a month and prints a 1M path (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).
  • Pick Datagma if you need mobile numbers from a name and a company, a WhatsApp check or job change alerts. Its credits roll over for up to 12 months (Datagma API, September 2026).
  • Pick neither if you pull data in code at volume and want a flat bill. Both meter every lookup, and Datagma's biggest self-serve plan stops at 22,500 emails a month. LeadOcean fits that case and is covered below.

Data and coverage

Neither vendor publishes a verifiable record count for what you buy, so treat every figure as a claim. Prospeo cites 143M verified emails inside 280M leads and companies, and 98% accuracy (Prospeo, September 2026). Datagma cites no dataset size and claims under 2% bounce on emails (Datagma, September 2026). We have not tested either claim.

The tools are built around different jobs. Prospeo is a database you search first. Search takes 25 results a page, costs 1 credit a page and stops at 25,000 results. It returns no email or mobile, so you pay again to enrich each person (Prospeo search docs, September 2026).

Datagma is an enrichment service. It takes a profile URL, an email, a name plus a company, or a company domain, SIREN or VAT number (Datagma, September 2026). Its Find People endpoint lists up to 10 people at a company by job title, and a successful search costs 10 credits (Datagma API docs, September 2026). That is not a market search.

Phones are where Datagma sells hardest. It pitches direct mobiles found from a name and a company, with no profile URL, plus WhatsApp detection (Datagma, September 2026). Prospeo also sells a mobile finder at 10 credits per mobile, with the email included (Prospeo help center, September 2026). Neither prints how many numbers it holds.

Emails differ in what you pay for. Prospeo charges for verified emails, and a lookup with no result costs nothing. Datagma returns verified emails only, and a catch-all it cannot verify comes back as "most probable" and is not billed (Datagma API, September 2026).

API and developer experience

Both have a REST API, and only Prospeo has a first-party MCP server. Prospeo uses POST with a JSON body and a header key. Datagma uses GET with the key in the query string. Placeholders below stand in for real people.

Prospeo, enrich a person from a name and a company website.

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.prospeo.io/enrich-person" \
  -H "X-KEY: $PROSPEO_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"only_verified_email": true, "data": {"first_name": "Jane", "last_name": "Doe", "company_website": "acme.com"}}'

The flags only_verified_email and enrich_mobile control when credits are spent. Re-enriching the same record within 90 days is free (Prospeo enrich docs, September 2026). Prospeo's docs advise the bulk endpoint, up to 50 people per request, for speed.

Datagma, enrich a person from a name and a company.

bash
curl "https://gateway.datagma.net/api/ingress/v2/full?apiId=$DATAGMA_API_KEY&firstName=Jane&lastName=Doe&company=Acme"

The same endpoint also takes a profile URL or an email, and optional flags such as phoneFull=true and whatsappCheck=true. Datagma bills a successful person match at 2 credits (Datagma API docs, September 2026). The key sits in the URL of every call, so keep it out of logs.

Limits matter more than syntax at volume. Prospeo's enrich API allows 5 requests a second on Starter and Growth and 30 on Pro. The daily cap is 2,000 on Starter and 500,000 on Pro (Prospeo rate limits, September 2026). Datagma publishes no request limit, so you cannot plan a pipeline around one. Ask support before you build.

One point is unsettled. Prospeo's pricing table shows no public API on Free. Its help center lists limited API access with 50 requests a day (Prospeo help center, September 2026). The API docs intro says free API access for all users (Prospeo API docs, September 2026). Test a free key before you plan around it.

On MCP, Prospeo hosts a server with 8 tools, including search_person and enrich_person (Prospeo MCP docs, September 2026). We found no Datagma server. The Zapier-run one exposes five actions: job change, find email, find employees, enrich and find mobile (Zapier, September 2026).

Pricing

Both tools sell allowances that reset each month, so cost scales with volume. The worked example uses work emails only, one credit or one email allowance each, every lookup a hit. Prices are monthly list first, billed-yearly after.

10,000 records a month

  • Prospeo: one Growth seat gives 5,000 credits for $99. The 5,000-credit add-on is $90. That is 10,000 credits for $99 + $90 = $189 a month. Billed yearly, 2 Growth seats at $74 a month ($888 a year each) give 120,000 credits a year for $1,776, or $148 a month (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).
  • Datagma: Popular holds 7,500 emails, so 10,000 needs Expert. Expert is $249 a month for 22,500 emails and 750 phones, or $209 a month billed yearly (Datagma pricing, September 2026). Datagma's API page prints Expert at $261 a month (Datagma API, October 2026). We use the pricing page figure, and you should confirm it at checkout.

At 10,000 emails Prospeo is $60 cheaper on monthly billing ($249 - $189) and $61 cheaper billed yearly ($209 - $148). Datagma sells a bundle, so you pay for 22,500 emails and use 10,000.

The bundle changes the per-email price. A full Expert plan is $249 / 22,500 = about $0.0111 an email. Prospeo's Pro seat is $249 / 15,000 = about $0.0166 a credit. Datagma is cheaper per email only once you use most of its allowance.

Mobiles. A Prospeo mobile costs 10 credits. At the Pro rate of $0.0166 a credit that is about $0.17 a mobile. On Datagma, Expert is $249 / 750 = about $0.33 a phone. Billed yearly, $209 / 750 is about $0.28, which matches the "starts at $0.28" line on Datagma's homepage (Datagma, September 2026). Ten thousand mobiles a month is 100,000 Prospeo credits and far past Datagma's 750-phone Expert allowance.

1M records a month

  • Prospeo: no single tier reaches 1M. On monthly billing the cheapest public mix starts with (1,000,000 - 350,000 add-on credits) / 15,000 = 43.3. Round up to 44 Pro seats at $249 = $10,956, then add the 350,000-credit add-on at $3,500. That is 1,010,000 credits for $14,456 a month. Billed yearly, 3 Pro seats at $2,241 plus the 500,000-credit yearly add-on at $4,500 is $11,223 once, with 1,040,000 credits upfront (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).
  • Datagma: No public 1M price. Expert tops out at 22,500 emails a month, and Enterprise is custom through sales (Datagma pricing, September 2026). We do not multiply a plan rate out to 1M, because Enterprise may price very differently.

Prospeo also stops publishing prices past 350,000 add-on credits a month or 500,000 a year. The help center says extended pricing is enabled on request (Prospeo help center, September 2026). For a steady 1M every month, ask both vendors for a quote.

Rollover. Prospeo credits do not roll over. Unused plan and add-on credits expire each billing cycle. Datagma credits roll over for up to 12 months (Prospeo help center, September 2026; Datagma API, September 2026).

Where Prospeo wins

Search and enrich in one tool. Prospeo searches people with 28 to 41 filters, depending on plan, then enriches the ones you pick (Prospeo pricing, September 2026). We found no filter search in Datagma's docs.

A first-party MCP server. Prospeo hosts one with 8 tools and OAuth. Datagma has none we could find.

Published limits and a 1M path. You can read the per-second and per-day caps, and you can price a 1M month from public pages. Datagma gives neither.

Cheaper at 10,000 records. $189 against $249 on monthly billing, because Datagma's bundle is sized for 22,500.

Where Datagma wins

Mobiles from a name and a company. Datagma was built for the phone, and it adds a WhatsApp check on paid plans (Datagma, September 2026). If your list is names and companies, it takes the list as it is.

Rollover. Unused credits carry for up to 12 months. At Prospeo they expire.

Job change detection. A dedicated endpoint tells you when a contact moves company (Datagma API docs, September 2026). Prospeo's job change tracking is on Growth and up, inside its app.

Simple per-seat pricing at small scale. Extra seats are $5 a user a month, and the Expert plan includes 5 seats (Datagma pricing, September 2026). Prospeo prices every seat in full.

If you need volume through an API

LeadOcean is a people and company data API with a hosted MCP server, with no seats and no credits. Free gives 1,000 records one-off with no card, and Pro is $499 a month flat with the whole database over REST and MCP. Export up to 50,000 rows per request with POST /v1/exports, so a 1M-row pull is 20 requests over two days. It is the data layer only, with an export app but no rep workspace, sequencer or Chrome extension. Reps who work in a browser extension should keep Prospeo or Datagma. See LeadOcean pricing.
