ZoomInfo and AI-Ark both sell B2B people and company data through an app, a REST API and an MCP server. ZoomInfo is the larger and older name, with intent data and annual platform contracts. AI-Ark is a credit-based newcomer built around lookalike search and pre-verified emails.

Verdict

  • Pick ZoomInfo if you need intent signals, org charts, news and a CRM-connected suite, or a pay-as-you-go API with search that costs nothing. You pay per credit, and the credit price is high.
  • Pick AI-Ark if you build outbound lists at moderate volume and want lookalike search, emails verified at export and a price you can read at the low end. You pay per credit, and the rate limit is low.
  • Pick neither if you need millions of records through an API at a fixed price. Neither publishes a 1M price. LeadOcean is one option: Pro is $499 a month, flat.

Data and coverage

ZoomInfo claims 500M+ contacts and 100M+ companies. AI-Ark claims 400M+ people and 70M+ companies. Both are the vendors' own numbers, and neither is audited.

Neither vendor publishes how many records carry an email or a phone number. So coverage cannot be compared on paper. AI-Ark claims 98% data accuracy and a 30-day refresh cycle (AI-Ark docs, September 2026). ZoomInfo gives no accuracy rate in its API docs.

The two sell different things beyond contacts. ZoomInfo's API has endpoints for intent signals, scoops, news, org charts and corporate hierarchy. Intent needs a package that includes the Intent SKU (ZoomInfo API docs, September 2026). AI-Ark's extras are lookalike company search from up to 5 seed companies and a DISC and OCEAN personality analysis (AI-Ark docs, September 2026).

Emails differ in how they arrive. AI-Ark verifies each one in real time with BounceBan and strips invalid addresses before you export. ZoomInfo returns the contact fields your package allows. Which fields you get depends on your package (ZoomInfo docs, September 2026).

Test before you buy. Run the same 500 people through both free plans and compare the match rate. ZoomInfo gives 1,000 data credits free, and AI-Ark gives 100 credits a month (GTM AI pricing; AI-Ark pricing, September 2026).

API and developer experience

Both are REST APIs with a hosted MCP server. The difference is setup. AI-Ark uses one header. ZoomInfo uses OAuth 2.0.

AI-Ark authenticates with an X-TOKEN header and takes JSON. Its Mobile Phone Finder takes a LinkedIn URL and charges 5 credits only when a number comes back. A miss returns 404 and costs nothing (AI-Ark docs, September 2026).

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.ai-ark.com/api/developer-portal/v1/people/mobile-phone-finder" \
  -H "X-TOKEN: $AI_ARK_API_KEY" \
  -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{"linkedin":"https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe"}'

ZoomInfo needs an app and a bearer token, then calls the Data API with the application/vnd.api+json content type. One enrich call takes up to 25 contacts. A record that returns no match, or an error, is not charged (ZoomInfo docs, September 2026).

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.zoominfo.com/gtm/data/v1/contacts/enrich" \
  -H "authorization: Bearer $ZI_TOKEN" \
  -H "content-type: application/vnd.api+json" \
  -d '{"data":{"type":"ContactEnrich","attributes":{"matchPersonInput":[{"personId":1234567890}],"outputFields":["id","email","companyName"],"requiredFields":["id"]}}}'

Rate limits are the sharpest gap. ZoomInfo allows 5 requests a second on Builder, 25 on Standard and 35 on Scaling. A second docs page lists 25 as the default, with 30 and 35 as paid add-ons, so the two pages differ slightly (ZoomInfo rate limits, September 2026). AI-Ark allows 5 a second until you spend 450,000 credits a month.

AI-Ark's limits also shape bulk work. One search retrieves at most 10,000 records, and one export job holds at most 10,000 people. Going past that means re-running with exclusion lists (AI-Ark docs, September 2026).

On MCP, ZoomInfo signs you in with OAuth, and its server needs a GTM AI account or a subscription with data credits. AI-Ark's server takes your API key in the URL, so the key sits in your client config.

Pricing

ZoomInfo's API and AI-Ark both bill per credit, and one credit is about one record. Convert both to cost per record to compare them. ZoomInfo's platform plans are a separate route: prices are not published, and ZoomInfo's pricing page blocks automated reading.

At 10,000 records a month

For ZoomInfo's API, 10,000 records is 10,000 data credits. The list rate is $0.38 a credit for purchases of 2,500 to 10,000 credits. So 10,000 x $0.38 = $3,800 (GTM AI pricing, September 2026). A record is charged once per 12 months, and search is free (ZoomInfo docs, September 2026).

For AI-Ark, a person with a verified email is 1 credit: 0.5 for the profile and 0.5 for the email. So 10,000 people with emails is 10,000 credits. The $49 plan holds 5,000 credits, which is $9.80 per 1,000. At that rate 10,000 credits would be $98, but the page does not say packs stack. Its pricing page lists a Starter plan (up to 30,000 credits a month, up to 3 seats) but prints no price for it (AI-Ark pricing, October 2026).

Phones change the sum. A found mobile number costs AI-Ark 5 credits, so a person with an email and a phone is 6 credits (AI-Ark pricing, September 2026).

At 1M records a month

ZoomInfo has no public 1M price. The GTM AI slider stops at 100,000 credits for $25,000, which is $0.25 a credit and the lowest published rate. Above that, ZoomInfo sends you to Enterprise (GTM AI pricing, September 2026). We do not multiply that rate out to 1M and call it a quote.

AI-Ark has no public 1M price either. Its pricing page says plans above 30,000 credits run $2 to $4 per 1,000 credits, and the Scale plan starts at 450,000 credits a month (AI-Ark pricing, September 2026). It does not say where 1M credits lands, or whether Enterprise applies. We do not multiply that range out to 1M either.

So at 1M both are quote conversations. At 10,000, AI-Ark's published entry rate is far lower per record, and ZoomInfo's credit covers one record whatever fields you return.

Where ZoomInfo wins

  • Signals and structure. Intent, scoops, news, org charts and corporate hierarchy are API endpoints (ZoomInfo API docs, September 2026). AI-Ark's docs list none of these.
  • Faster limits. Up to 35 requests a second against AI-Ark's 5.
  • Search is free. You can browse and size lists without spending a credit, and a re-enrichment inside 12 months costs nothing.
  • A suite. ZoomInfo connects to CRMs and sales tools, and it sells to teams that want one login.
  • No key in a URL. MCP uses an OAuth sign-in.

Where AI-Ark wins

  • Lookalike search. Give it up to 5 seed companies and it finds similar ones. ZoomInfo has find-similar endpoints, but AI-Ark builds its product around this.
  • Emails verified at export. BounceBan checks each address as you export, so invalid ones never reach your file.
  • A readable price at low volume. $49 for 5,000 credits is on the page. ZoomInfo's platform price is not.
  • Bigger export jobs. 10,000 people per job, against 25 records per ZoomInfo enrich call.
  • Cheaper per record at small scale. The $49 plan is $9.80 per 1,000 credits. ZoomInfo's $0.38 a credit is $380 per 1,000.

If you need volume through an API

We build LeadOcean, so weigh this section accordingly. LeadOcean holds 693M people and 63M companies, and you reach them over REST and MCP. Free is 1,000 records, one-off, with no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat, with no credits and a limit of 100 requests per second per key (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).

For bulk work, POST /v1/exports returns up to 50,000 rows per request. The app also has an Exports page with a filter builder and CSV download (LeadOcean exports docs, September 2026). There is no lookalike search, intent data or sequencer. See the ZoomInfo alternative page and the ZoomInfo alternatives list for a line-by-line version.

FAQ

Which has more contacts, ZoomInfo or AI-Ark?

ZoomInfo, by its own claim: 500M+ contacts against AI-Ark's 400M+ people. Neither publishes email or phone counts, so test both on your own list.

Is AI-Ark cheaper than ZoomInfo?

At small volume, yes. A person with an email is 1 AI-Ark credit, and the $49 plan holds 5,000. ZoomInfo's list rate is $0.38 a credit at 10,000 credits. At 1M neither publishes a price, so ask both for a quote.

Do ZoomInfo and AI-Ark have an MCP server?

Both do. ZoomInfo's needs a GTM AI account or a subscription with data credits and signs in with OAuth. AI-Ark's is hosted and takes your API key in the URL (ZoomInfo docs; AI-Ark docs, September 2026).

Which one has better phone numbers?

Neither publishes a phone accuracy rate. ZoomInfo's Sales page claims 120M+ direct dials (ZoomInfo Sales, October 2026). AI-Ark charges 5 credits per found mobile number and nothing on a miss. Run a sample of your own contacts through both.

Can I use the API on a free plan?

Yes, on both. ZoomInfo's free tier gives 1,000 data credits with API and MCP access at 5 requests a second. AI-Ark's free plan gives 100 credits a month and includes the API (GTM AI pricing; AI-Ark pricing, September 2026).

Which can do 1M records a month?

Both can, but neither prints a price. ZoomInfo's slider stops at 100,000 credits and AI-Ark's Scale plan starts at 450,000 credits. For a flat, published price at that volume, see LeadOcean pricing.
