7 Best Email Finders for lemlist in 2026

Seven email finders judged on one job, getting addresses into lemlist without bounces, with list prices, free tiers and the cost of 1M lookups.

Get your free API key →Free to start. No credit card. 1,000 records to spend whenever you like.

An email finder turns a name and a company, or a LinkedIn URL, into a business email address. For lemlist the job is narrower: find the address, then prove it will not bounce before the campaign starts.

lemlist has its own finder. Its Email plan lists an email and phone number finder. A data add-on sells 2k credits a month, priced as 400 emails or 100 phones (lemlist pricing, October 2026). People look elsewhere when they need a status on every address, a lower price per email, an API for bulk work or a list that an agent can build.

This page ranks seven finders on that one test. Each rival has its own page: Hunter, Anymail Finder, Icypeas, BetterContact, Prospeo and LeadMagic. New to the category? Read what an email finder is first.

TL;DR

IcypeasThe lowest public price per found email50 free credits on signup. Basic $19 a month ($15.83 billed yearly)$3,992 a month
BetterContactWaterfall lookups across 20+ providers50 free credits. Starter $15 a month ($12.50 billed yearly)No public 1M price
ProspeoTeams that want one app plus an APIFree: 100 credits a month. Starter $49 a seat a month ($37 billed yearly)$14,456 a month ($11,223 once, billed yearly)

"1M records" means 1M work-email lookups that return a result, at list price, one credit each where the vendor uses credits. Where a vendor sells no plan at 1M, the cell says so and never multiplies a rate out.

What we evaluated

Bounce protection decides the order. Price and API access break ties.

  • Bounce protection: does the tool verify an address before it bills you, or hand you a status to filter on?
  • Cost of a bad lookup: is a miss free, and what happens when a "found" email still bounces?
  • API and MCP: can code or an agent find, verify and export without a browser?
  • Price at volume: flat, credits or seats, and the list cost of 1M records.
  • Rate limit: the default per second or minute for a bulk run into lemlist.

We ran no find-rate or accuracy test, so we quote no match rates. Delivery claims are the vendor's own. Send 100 addresses to a test campaign and read your own bounce rate.

1. Anymail Finder: best for paying only for verified emails

Anymail Finder bills for results, not attempts. A search that finds no verified email is free, and a repeat search or verification inside 30 days is free too. A verified email that still bounces can be reported for a credit back after review, under its 97%+ delivery guarantee (Anymail Finder pricing, September 2026).

That is the strongest bounce protection in this group, so it ranks first. The trade-off is the lookup model: you bring a name and a domain, or ask for a decision maker at a company.

Pricing uses credits. Finding a person's email costs 1 credit, a decision maker costs 2, and a standalone verification costs 0.2. The docs state no rate limits and no daily API caps, and bulk jobs take up to 100,000 rows (Anymail Finder API docs, September 2026). The MCP server has five actions and signs in without an API key in Claude, Cursor and ChatGPT (Anymail Finder MCP, September 2026).

Pros

  • Misses are free, and only verified emails are billed.
  • A bounce can earn a credit back after review.
  • No rate limits stated.

Cons

  • It finds by name and domain. It cannot build a list from filters.
  • The guarantee needs a report and a review. It is not automatic.

Best for: teams that already hold names and domains and want a refund path when an address bounces.

Pricing: Monthly plans run from 400 credits for $29 to 100,000 credits for $799. Yearly plans save 33%. The 1,000,000 credit pack is $4,990, valid 12 months (Anymail Finder pricing, September 2026).

2. LeadOcean: best for building a lemlist list by API, agent or CSV

LeadOcean is a people and company database behind one REST API and one MCP server. It holds 693M people, 366M with an email and 166M with a phone number, plus 67M companies. Every email carries an email_status, so you filter the list before it reaches lemlist.

It does not find by name and domain alone, and it does not verify live. It stores a status and you read it. There is no refund for a bounce, so the gate is yours. In practice you keep verified and catch_all_valid and hold catch_all for a verifier. The full build is in the LeadOcean, lemlist and HubSpot stack guide.

The list to lemlist flow takes three steps.

  1. Size it, free. A search with count=true and limit 1 spends no records. Set emailStatus to the safe values and read meta.total. Over MCP, leadocean_count_leads gives the exact figure.
  2. Export it. Run POST /v1/exports with the same filters and a column list. Bulk CSV export is included on Solo and Agency, not on Free (LeadOcean docs, September 2026).
  3. Load it into lemlist. Upload the CSV, or push each row through lemlist's lead endpoint. lemlist allows 20 requests every 2 seconds per API key (lemlist API docs, October 2026).
bash
curl -X POST "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/people/search?count=true" \
  -H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY" \
  -H "content-type: application/json" \
-d '{"jobLevel": ["VP"], "country": ["US"], "emailStatus": ["verified", "catch_all_valid"], "limit": 1}'

That counts US VPs with a verified or catch-all-valid email status. It is not a promise of delivery. The MCP server at https://api.leadocean.io/mcp signs in with OAuth 2.1 and has 13 tools (LeadOcean MCP docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • Filter by title, level, country and email_status before you spend a record.
  • Free exact counts, so you size a campaign before you pay.
  • REST and MCP on every plan, including Free.
  • A flat price at volume. Paid plans have a fair-use pace, not credits.

Cons

  • No live check against the mail server. You read the stored status.
  • No refund or credit-back for bounced emails.
  • Bulk CSV export is not on Free.
  • No sequencer or CRM. lemlist stays your sender.

Best for: engineers, RevOps and agents that build lemlist lists at volume and want to gate by status.

Pricing: Free is 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Solo is $97 a month, Agency is $497 a month and Platform is $1,997 a month (LeadOcean pricing, October 2026).

3. Hunter: best for names and domains you already hold

Hunter is built around names and domains. Email Finder takes a name and a domain, charges 1 credit per email found and charges nothing if it finds none. Hunter says the finder already verifies what it returns. A separate Verifier costs 0.5 credit per check (Hunter help center, September 2026).

The API limits are documented per endpoint, not per plan. Email Finder and Domain Search allow 15 requests a second and 500 a minute. A rate-limited call returns 403, and a spent quota returns 429, which is the reverse of what most clients expect (Hunter API docs, September 2026). Check your retry code before a big run. Hunter also has an official remote MCP server on every plan (Hunter MCP, September 2026).

Pros

  • Misses cost nothing, and the finder verifies found emails.
  • Official MCP server, included on every plan.
  • 15 requests a second on Email Finder.

Cons

  • 403 means rate limit and 429 means quota. Easy to mishandle.
  • Data Platform credits are one-off and expire after 12 months.
  • Monthly plan credits do not carry over.

Best for: teams that hold names and domains and want a well-known finder with a simple credit rule.

Pricing: Free is 50 credits a month. Starter is $49 a month for 2,000 credits ($34 billed yearly), Growth $149 for 10,000 and Scale $299 for 25,000 (Hunter pricing, September 2026). 1,000,000 Search credits cost $6,900 on Data Platform (Hunter Data Platform, September 2026).

4. Icypeas: best for the lowest public price per found email

Icypeas has the lowest published rate at 1M in this group. One credit buys one found email, a search that finds nothing costs nothing, and the verifier costs 0.1 credit (Icypeas credit costs, September 2026). Catch-all verification, API and MCP are included on every plan.

The 1,000,000 credit tier is $3,992 a month. Billed yearly, 12M credits cost $39,920, which is $3,326.67 a month (Icypeas pricing, September 2026). Those tiers sit in the page's credit selector, so re-check it before you commit.

Limits are 10 calls a second on email search, email verification and domain search. Bulk search takes up to 5,000 rows a call at 1 call a second (Icypeas rate limits, September 2026). The hosted MCP server has 21 tools.

Pros

  • Lowest public cost at 1M: $3,992 a month.
  • Catch-all verification, API and MCP on every plan.
  • Misses are free.

Cons

  • No free plan, only 50 free credits on signup.
  • Phone Finder is listed as coming soon, so phones are not covered yet.

Best for: teams running large email-only lookups on a tight budget.

Pricing: Basic is $19 a month for 1,000 credits ($15.83 billed yearly). Premium is $39 for 4,000, Advanced $89 for 10,000 and Hypergrowth $499 for 100,000 (Icypeas pricing, September 2026).

5. BetterContact: best for waterfall lookups across 20+ providers

BetterContact runs one lookup through 20+ data providers in a waterfall and verifies the result with Bouncer. You are charged only on valid results: 1 credit for an email plus verification, 10 credits for a mobile plus verification (BetterContact credits, September 2026).

The waterfall raises the odds of a hit on a hard contact, and it raises the unit cost. The top public step is 50,000 credits for $1,999 a month, which is $0.03998 a credit. Enterprise starts at $799 a month on a custom quote, so there is no public price at 1M.

The API limit is 100 requests a minute per key on Starter and 200 on Pro. Bulk enrich takes up to 100 leads a call (BetterContact rate limits, September 2026). We found no MCP server on its homepage, pricing page or docs index.

Pros

  • A waterfall over 20+ providers in one call.
  • Verification by Bouncer is included, and you pay only for valid results.
  • 50 free credits on signup, no card.

Cons

  • $0.03998 a credit at its top public step, well above the others' volume rates.
  • No public 1M price.
  • No MCP server found.

Best for: teams that care about hit rate on hard contacts and accept a higher unit price.

Pricing: Starter is $15 a month for 200 credits ($12.50 billed yearly). Pro runs from $49 for 1,000 credits to $1,999 for 50,000 (BetterContact pricing, September 2026).

6. Prospeo: best for teams that want one app plus an API

Prospeo bills 1 credit per verified email and 10 per mobile, with the email included. A call with no result costs nothing, and re-enriching a record inside 90 days is free (Prospeo credits, September 2026).

Plans are per seat, and credits expire at the end of each cycle. The hosted MCP server has 8 tools and signs in with OAuth 2.0 or an API key (Prospeo MCP, September 2026).

On the Enrich API, Pro allows 30 requests a second and 500,000 a day. Starter allows 5 a second and 2,000 a day (Prospeo rate limits, September 2026). Its sources disagree on whether Free has API access, so test it first.

Pros

  • Only verified emails are billed, and misses are free.
  • Hosted MCP server with 8 tools.
  • Re-enriching a record inside 90 days is free.

Cons

  • Priced per seat, so the cost at 1M is high.
  • Credits expire each cycle, and add-ons need a paid plan.

Best for: small teams that want an app and an API from one vendor, at modest volume.

Pricing: Free is 100 credits a month. Starter is $49 a seat a month for 2,000 credits ($37 billed yearly). Growth is $99 for 5,000 and Pro is $249 for 15,000 (Prospeo pricing, September 2026). The cheapest public path to 1M is 44 Pro seats plus the 350,000 credit add-on, $14,456 a month.

7. LeadMagic: best for email, mobile and job-change checks in one pool

LeadMagic sells several checks from one credit pool. Email Finder costs 1 credit per valid email and a miss is free. Email Validation costs 0.25 credit on a valid or invalid result, and an unknown result is free. A mobile costs 5 credits and a job-change check costs 3 (LeadMagic credit guide, September 2026).

Email Finder is capped at 600 requests a minute (LeadMagic API docs, September 2026). The hosted MCP server signs in with OAuth only, so static API keys do not work there (LeadMagic MCP, October 2026).

Pros

  • Validation and job-change checks beside the finder.
  • Search in the app spends no credits on paid plans.
  • Email Finder misses are free, and unknown validations are free.

Cons

  • No free plan, so you cannot test it without paying.
  • No public price at 1M. Top-ups and Enterprise rates are not published.
  • MCP sign-in is OAuth only.

Best for: teams that clean old lists and want validation and job changes beside the finder.

Pricing: Essential is $99 a month for 5,000 credits ($83 a month billed yearly). Growth is $249 for 20,000, Professional $499 for 50,000 and Ultimate $849 for 100,000 (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026). No public 1M price.

How to choose

  • Bounce protection first: Anymail Finder. You pay only for verified emails and can report a bounce.
  • Building the list from filters, by API or agent: LeadOcean. Gate by email_status, then load the CSV into lemlist.
  • Names and domains you already hold: Hunter, with a simple credit rule.
  • Lowest cost at 1M: Icypeas, at $3,992 a month.
  • Hard-to-find contacts: BetterContact, if you accept a higher unit price.
  • A small team that wants an app: Prospeo.
  • Old lists that need cleaning: LeadMagic.
  • Under 400 emails a month: lemlist's own finder may be enough.

Verdict

Anymail Finder wins on bounce protection, because it bills only verified emails and offers a credit back when one bounces. LeadOcean wins for anyone who builds lemlist lists by API, agent or CSV. It filters on email_status before you spend a record and costs a flat $497 a month on Agency. It does not verify live, and it refunds nothing for a bounce, so the gate is yours. Hunter suits teams that hold names and domains. Icypeas has the lowest public price at 1M. BetterContact suits hard contacts, Prospeo suits small teams that want an app, and LeadMagic suits list cleaning. Whatever you pick, send 100 addresses to a test campaign first and read your own bounce rate.

FAQ

What is the best email finder for lemlist?

For bounce protection per lookup, Anymail Finder. For building a list by API, agent or CSV, LeadOcean. For the lowest public price at 1M, Icypeas. Pick by how you get names into the tool and what you do when an address bounces.

Does lemlist have its own email finder?

Yes. The Email plan lists an email and phone number finder, and a data add-on sells 2k credits a month as 400 emails or 100 phones (lemlist pricing, October 2026). Outside that add-on, you can use any finder here and upload the CSV.

How do I avoid bounces before a lemlist campaign?

Use a finder that verifies before it bills, or filter on a stored status before you export. Then send 100 addresses to a test campaign and read the bounce rate. Scale only when it is low.

Can I load LeadOcean emails into lemlist?

Yes. Size the list for free, export a CSV with POST /v1/exports on Solo or Agency, keep verified and catch_all_valid rows, and upload or push them to lemlist. The stack guide has the script.

Which finder is cheapest for 1M lookups?

Icypeas has the lowest public price: $3,992 a month. Anymail Finder is $4,990 once and Hunter is $6,900 once. BetterContact and LeadMagic publish no 1M price. See also the best email finder tools and the UK edition.
