Anymail Finder wins when you hold names and domains and want a live-verified email. Crustdata wins when you need a large searchable index, live web data or change alerts. They do different jobs. Only one of them publishes a dollar price.

All figures were checked in September 2026, each with its source link. Where a vendor publishes nothing, this page says so.

Verdict

  • Pick Crustdata if you need to search a 1B-person index, pull jobs and posts, or watch people for job changes. Budget for a sales call, because the pricing page lists no dollar price per credit (Crustdata pricing, September 2026).
  • Pick Anymail Finder if you hold a list of names and company domains and want each address checked live. You pay one credit only when a valid email is found, and plans start at $29 a month (Anymail Finder pricing, September 2026).
  • Pick neither if you want to search people and companies you do not hold yet, on one flat bill, with emails and phones included. LeadOcean covers that. It does not verify live at lookup time and has no job or post data.

Data and coverage

Crustdata sells an index and Anymail Finder sells a live lookup. Crustdata's homepage claims 1B people (Crustdata, September 2026). Its company count conflicts with itself on the page, so this page quotes none. It publishes no email or phone coverage figure.

Anymail Finder publishes no database size, because it does not rely on a stored list. It says every address is verified in real time against the recipient's mail server (Anymail Finder, September 2026). It also says it found verified emails for 86.4% of 5,000 contacts in a 14-tool benchmark. That is a vendor claim, so test both numbers on your own list.

Phones decide it for some buyers. Crustdata returns phone numbers at +2 credits on person enrich (Crustdata pricing docs, September 2026). Anymail Finder has no phone lookup at all.

Crustdata also covers jobs, social posts and live web fetch. Anymail Finder touches none of that. If your trigger is "this person just changed jobs", only Crustdata has the data.

API and developer experience

Both APIs are public and readable before you pay. The input differs. Anymail Finder takes a name plus a domain, or a LinkedIn URL. Crustdata's enrich takes professional-network profile URLs, up to 25 per request (Crustdata docs, September 2026).

This is Anymail Finder's find-person request from its docs, with a placeholder person:

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.anymailfinder.com/v5.1/find-email/person" \
  -H "Authorization: $ANYMAILFINDER_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"domain":"acme.com","full_name":"Jane Doe"}'

It returns email_status: valid, risky, not_found or blacklisted. It charges 1 credit only on a valid hit (Anymail Finder docs, September 2026). From 5 October 2026 a search that would have returned a risky email returns not_found instead. Its docs recommend a 180 second timeout, because lookups run in real time.

This is Crustdata's contact request from its docs, with a placeholder profile. It needs an enterprise plan:

bash
curl --request POST \
  --url https://api.crustdata.com/person/contact/enrich \
  --header "authorization: Bearer $CRUSTDATA_API_KEY" \
  --header "content-type: application/json" \
  --header "x-api-version: 2025-11-01" \
  --data '{"professional_network_profile_urls":["https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe"],"fields":["contact.business_emails"]}'

Emails come back as { email, status } objects with deliverable, catch_all, invalid or unknown. Self-serve keys get a 403 on this endpoint (Crustdata contact docs, September 2026).

Rate limits cut the other way. Anymail Finder states none. Crustdata defaults to 15 requests a minute on enrich (Crustdata rate limits, September 2026). With 25 identifiers a request, that is up to 375 profiles a minute.

For agents, both ship a hosted MCP server. Anymail Finder's signs in through a browser window and finds or verifies emails. Crustdata's accepts OAuth or an API key as a bearer token (Crustdata MCP docs, September 2026).

Pricing

Anymail Finder bills per email found. Crustdata bills credits and does not publish what a credit costs in dollars. Prices below show the monthly list first, with the billed-yearly figure after it where one exists.

At 10,000 records a month. Anymail Finder's 10,000-credit plan is $199 a month (Anymail Finder pricing, September 2026). Billed yearly, 120,000 credits cost $1,596, which is $1,596 / 12 = $133 a month. Misses are free, so a 70% find rate uses only 7,000 credits.

Crustdata at 10,000 work emails is 10,000 x (1 base + 1 business email) = 20,000 credits on /person/enrich. On the enterprise-only contact endpoint it is 10,000 x 1 = 10,000 credits. The pricing page also lists email as an add-on on person enrich, while the enrich guide points email lookups to the contact endpoint (Crustdata pricing docs, September 2026). Dollars equal credits times your quoted price, which is not public. No public 10,000 price either.

At 1M records a month. Crustdata is 1,000,000 x 2 = 2,000,000 credits on /person/enrich, or 1,000,000 on the contact endpoint. There is no public tier to name, so: No public 1M price. A Crustdata blog post reports a lowest tier from $95 a month, and that figure is not on the pricing page (Crustdata blog, September 2026).

Anymail Finder's biggest monthly plan is 100,000 credits at $799, so 1M in a month means a pack. The 1,000,000-credit pack is $4,990, about $0.005 a credit, valid 12 months (Anymail Finder pricing, September 2026). Billed yearly, 1,200,000 credits cost $6,420, which is more than the pack.

Time is a cost too. Anymail Finder's bulk docs average 1,000 rows per 5 minutes. So 1M rows is 1,000 x 5 = 5,000 minutes, about 3.5 days (Anymail Finder bulk docs, September 2026). Crustdata at 375 profiles a minute is 1,000,000 / 375 = 2,667 minutes, about 44 hours.

Two Crustdata cautions. Purchased credits expire 12 months after purchase per its docs (Crustdata credits, September 2026). A Crustdata blog post from 30 July 2026 says 6 months (Crustdata blog, September 2026), so confirm the term in your dashboard before you buy in bulk.

Where Crustdata wins

  • Search and breadth. It finds people and companies you did not already have, in a 1B-person index, and adds jobs and posts. Anymail Finder needs your list first.
  • Signals. Entity watchers flag a changed person at 5 credits on the 30-day SLA (Crustdata pricing docs, September 2026). Anymail Finder has nothing like it.
  • Phones. Phone numbers are +2 credits. Anymail Finder has none.

Crustdata's weak points are no public dollar price, low default rate limits and contact endpoints that sit behind enterprise plans.

Where Anymail Finder wins

  • Live verification. Each address is checked at lookup time. A verified email that bounces can be reported for a credit back (Anymail Finder pricing, September 2026).
  • A price you can read. Plans run from $29 to $799 a month, and you pay nothing on a miss.
  • No rate limit and bigger bulk files. One bulk job takes 100,000 rows. The API states no rate limits.
  • Name plus domain input. You do not need a LinkedIn URL for every person.

Anymail Finder's weak points are no search across a database, no phones and no firmographics. Nothing is listed above the 1M pack, and volume pricing is on request.

If you need volume through an API

LeadOcean is a third option if neither fits. The Free plan gives you 1,000 records, one-off, with no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat, with unlimited searches, enrichments and lookups, and no credits or per-record price (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).

It holds 693M people, 366M with an email and 166M with a phone number, plus 63M companies. The same REST API and a hosted MCP server with 12 tools run on every plan (LeadOcean MCP docs, September 2026). Each key runs at 100 requests per second.

For bulk pulls, POST /v1/exports returns up to 50,000 rows per request. The app also has an Exports page with a filter builder and CSV download (LeadOcean exports docs, September 2026). LeadOcean returns a stored email status on each record and does not verify live. Keep Anymail Finder if that is the whole job. See pricing for the detail.
