Crustdata vs Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence) (2026): Data, Pricing and API Compared

Crustdata is a standalone data API sold on credits. Clearbit is now HubSpot enrichment, priced as part of a HubSpot plan. Here is which buyer should pick which.

Crustdata is the better pick if you want a data API you can call from code. Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence) is the better pick if your records already live in HubSpot. They solve different problems. Crustdata searches and enriches through its own API, billed in credits. Clearbit fills in records inside a HubSpot account.

All figures below were checked in September 2026, each with its source link. Where a vendor publishes nothing, the page says so.

Verdict

  • Pick Crustdata if you work in code and need people, company, job and post data, plus live lookups and change watchers. Its docs are public and it has a hosted MCP server (Crustdata MCP docs, September 2026). You pay in credits, and the dollar price per credit is not public.
  • Pick Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence) if your contacts and companies already sit in HubSpot and you want them filled in with no code (HubSpot docs, September 2026).
  • Pick neither if you want a flat public price, REST plus MCP and bulk export on one plan. LeadOcean covers that. It has no CRM, no live web data and no change watchers.

Data and coverage

Neither tool gives you enough numbers to compare coverage. Crustdata claims 1B people on its homepage. Its company figure is unclear, because the same page shows 60M in one place and 200M+ in another (Crustdata, September 2026). We quote no single company count.

Crustdata publishes no email or phone coverage either. It prices them as add-ons: +1 credit for a business email, +2 for a personal email, +2 for a phone (Crustdata pricing docs, September 2026). Email status comes back as deliverable, catch_all, invalid or unknown (Crustdata contact docs, September 2026).

Clearbit publishes no people, company or phone count at all. Its homepage claims global coverage in every country and language (Clearbit, September 2026). That is a claim, not a number.

The data also does a different job. Crustdata is a database and a live web layer. You search for people you did not have, and it adds job search, social posts and change watchers. Clearbit starts from a business email or a company domain you already hold and fills in blank properties (HubSpot docs, September 2026).

Clearbit has richer standard company fields. Its homepage lists 6-digit NAICS, GICS and SIC codes, parent and subsidiary mapping, and normalised role and seniority (Clearbit, September 2026). We found no such list on Crustdata's public pages.

API and developer experience

Crustdata has a public API you can read before you pay. Clearbit's API documentation redirects to a sign-in page, so you cannot read it first (Clearbit docs, September 2026). New Clearbit sign-ups have needed a HubSpot account since December 2023 (Clearbit release notes, September 2026).

Crustdata's person enrich takes profile URLs in a JSON array and returns one entry per input, with a match_status of matched, not_found or redacted (Crustdata docs, September 2026). This is the request shape from its docs, with a placeholder profile:

bash
curl --request POST \
  --url https://api.crustdata.com/person/enrich \
  --header "authorization: Bearer $CRUSTDATA_API_KEY" \
  --header "content-type: application/json" \
  --header "x-api-version: 2025-11-01" \
  --data '{"professional_network_profile_urls": ["https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe"]}'

Emails and phones are separate. The dedicated contact endpoint, /person/contact/enrich, needs an enterprise plan, and self-serve keys get a 403 (Crustdata contact docs, September 2026). On a self-serve key you add the email fields to person enrich instead.

Clearbit has no request example we can show. Its Enrichment API docs are behind a sign-in,, so this page shows no Clearbit request.

Inside HubSpot there is nothing to call. A Super Admin turns on automatic enrichment, which is off by default, and new records fill in (HubSpot docs, September 2026). That is a strength for a HubSpot team and a wall for an engineer.

Rate limits matter at volume. Crustdata's default is 15 requests a minute on person enrich, and a request takes at most 25 profile URLs (Crustdata docs, September 2026). That is at most 375 profiles a minute, so 1M profiles take about 44 hours at the default (Crustdata rate limits, September 2026). Batch jobs of up to 10,000 identifiers are the faster route.

Pricing

Crustdata prices in credits and publishes no dollars. Clearbit has no standalone price and rides on a HubSpot plan. Neither gives a public price at 1M records.

Crustdata credit costs. Search is 0.03 credits per result. Person enrich is 1 to 7 credits: base profile 1, business email +1, personal email +2, phone +2. A work-email lookup on a self-serve key is 2 credits (Crustdata pricing docs, September 2026). The pricing page lists no plan names and no price per credit (Crustdata pricing, September 2026).

Clearbit cost. HubSpot says data enrichment does not consume HubSpot Credits (HubSpot docs, September 2026). You pay for the HubSpot plan, starting with a Starter seat. HubSpot shows plan prices in your local currency, so check the figure for your region on its pricing page (HubSpot pricing, October 2026).

Worked example, 10,000 records a month

  • Crustdata, work-email lookups: 10,000 x 2 = 20,000 credits. No public dollar price.
  • Crustdata, search only: 10,000 x 0.03 = 300 credits.
  • Clearbit: one Starter seat is the entry plan, if HubSpot allows the volume. An index page takes 100 records at a time, so 10,000 / 100 = 100 batches.

Worked example, 1M records a month

  • Crustdata, work-email lookups: 1,000,000 x 2 = 2,000,000 credits on /person/enrich. On the enterprise-only contact endpoint it is 1,000,000 x 1 = 1,000,000 credits. No public 1M price.
  • Crustdata, search only: 1,000,000 x 0.03 = 30,000 credits.
  • Clearbit: no public 1M price. An index page gives 1,000,000 / 100 = 10,000 batches, so this is a workflow job. HubSpot publishes no monthly volume cap (HubSpot docs, September 2026).

Multiply your quoted price per credit by the Crustdata credit counts to get your real number. Credits you buy expire 12 months after purchase, per the docs (Crustdata credits, September 2026).

Where Crustdata wins

  • A real API. Public docs, a Bearer key and a hosted MCP server. Clearbit's docs sit behind a sign-in.
  • Search. It finds people and companies you did not already hold, at 0.03 credits a result.
  • Live data. Job search, social posts, live web endpoints and change watchers (Crustdata pricing docs, September 2026).
  • No CRM. A script and a key are enough. Clearbit sign-ups need a HubSpot account.

Crustdata's weak points are the missing dollar price, low default rate limits and the enterprise gate on contact data.

Where Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence) wins

  • Enrichment inside HubSpot. Records fill where the team already works, with no code (HubSpot docs, September 2026).
  • Standardised company data. NAICS, GICS and SIC codes and corporate hierarchy are on its homepage (Clearbit, September 2026).
  • Visitor identification. Clearbit's homepage turns anonymous website traffic into intent signals using IP intelligence (Clearbit, September 2026). We found no such product at Crustdata.
  • Price at small volume. If HubSpot is already paid for, enrichment adds nothing per record.

Clearbit's weak points are the HubSpot requirement, the sign-in wall on its docs and no published count or rate limit. The free Clearbit platform ended April 30, 2025, and the Logo API followed after December 8, 2025 (Clearbit release notes, September 2026).

If you need volume through an API

LeadOcean is a third option if neither fits. The Free plan gives you 1,000 records, one-off, with no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat, with unlimited searches, enrichments and lookups, and no credits or per-record price (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).

It holds 693M people, 366M with an email and 166M with a phone number, plus 63M companies. The same REST API and a hosted MCP server with 12 tools run on every plan, at 100 requests per second per key (LeadOcean MCP docs, September 2026).

For bulk pulls, POST /v1/exports returns up to 50,000 rows per request, and the app has an Exports page too (LeadOcean exports docs, September 2026). 1M rows is 20 requests over two days. LeadOcean has no CRM, no live web data and no change watchers. See pricing.

FAQ

Is Crustdata cheaper than Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence)?

It turns on whether you already pay for HubSpot. Clearbit has no standalone price and comes with a HubSpot plan. Crustdata publishes no dollar price. If you already run HubSpot, Clearbit costs less. If you do not, the CRM is the cost.

Does Crustdata have an MCP server?

Yes. It is hosted at install.crustdata.com/mcp, with OAuth sign-in for interactive clients and an API key as a bearer token for code (Crustdata MCP docs, September 2026).

Does Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence) have an API?

Clearbit documents one, but the docs sit behind a sign-in and access for new customers is not published (Clearbit docs, September 2026). Ask HubSpot before you build on it. We also found no MCP server for enrichment.

Which one finds new contacts?

Crustdata does. It searches people and companies at 0.03 credits per result (Crustdata pricing docs, September 2026). Clearbit fills in records that start from a business email or a company domain.

Do Crustdata credits expire?

The docs say purchased credits expire 12 months after purchase. A Crustdata blog post from 30 July 2026 says 6 months. Confirm the term in your dashboard before you buy in bulk (Crustdata credits, September 2026; Crustdata blog, September 2026).

What does Crustdata cost for 1M records?

There is no public 1M price. 1M work-email lookups are 2,000,000 credits on /person/enrich, and the dollar figure is your quoted price per credit times that (Crustdata pricing docs, September 2026).
