RocketReach vs AI-Ark (2026): Data, Pricing and API Compared

RocketReach is a contact finder with an MCP server and an API set up by email. AI-Ark is a credit-based data platform with lookalike search. Here is how they compare at 10,000 and 1M records.

RocketReach and AI-Ark both sell B2B contact data with an API and an MCP server, and both bill actions in credits. Neither publishes a price for 1M records. RocketReach fits one rep on a low seat price. AI-Ark fits a team that exports lists in bulk and wants lookalike search.

Verdict

  • Pick RocketReach if one rep or a small team prospects by hand and wants a low monthly seat price. Its API is real, but it is capped and set up by email.
  • Pick AI-Ark if you build lists in volume, want lookalike company search and pre-verified emails, and can live with 5 requests a second. It has the cheaper route to bulk exports.
  • Pick neither if you need volume through an API at a price you can read. LeadOcean is one option: Pro is $499 a month, flat, with no credits.

Data and coverage

RocketReach claims the bigger people count, 700M+ against AI-Ark's 400M+. AI-Ark claims more companies, 70M+ against 60M+ (RocketReach docs, September 2026; AI-Ark docs, September 2026).

Treat all four as vendor claims. RocketReach's own docs are not consistent: the home page says 60M+ companies and the API account page says 35M. Neither vendor publishes how many people have an email or a phone.

Email handling differs. RocketReach grades emails A, A-, B and F. It charges no credit when no data is found or when the grade is B or F (RocketReach FAQ, September 2026). That is a billing rule, not an accuracy test.

AI-Ark verifies every email in real time at export with BounceBan, including catch-all addresses. It says the whole database refreshes every 30 days (AI-Ark, September 2026). Those are vendor claims. We ran no accuracy test.

The products differ in shape. RocketReach centers on person and company lookup, plus a standalone email verify endpoint. AI-Ark adds lookalike company search from up to 5 seed companies, semantic search and a personality profile, all on every plan (AI-Ark pricing, September 2026).

Run the same 500 people through both free plans and count the matches. That tells you more than either database size.

API and developer experience

RocketReach's API is simple but slow to scale. AI-Ark's API is built for batches but has a low request rate. The requests below use placeholders, with the shapes taken from each vendor's docs.

RocketReach authenticates with an Api-Key header. Person lookup is a GET that takes a LinkedIn URL, an email, a phone or a name plus employer (RocketReach docs, September 2026).

bash
curl --request GET \
  --url "https://api.rocketreach.co/api/v2/person/lookup?name=Jane%20Doe&current_employer=Acme" \
  --header "Api-Key: $ROCKETREACH_API_KEY"

The lookup can return a status of progress, so you poll or register a webhook. Search returns at most 10,000 results per query (RocketReach FAQ, September 2026).

AI-Ark authenticates with an X-TOKEN header. Export Single Person with Email takes a LinkedIn URL or an AI-Ark ID and returns the profile with a verified email in real time. It returns a 404 when no email is found (AI-Ark docs, September 2026).

bash
curl --request POST \
  --url "https://api.ai-ark.com/api/developer-portal/v1/people/export/single" \
  --header "X-TOKEN: $AIARK_API_KEY" \
  --header "content-type: application/json" \
  --data '{"url":"https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe"}'

One AI-Ark search retrieves up to 10,000 records by pagination. To go past that you re-run it with exclusion lists, which expire after 24 hours and cap at 50 a day (AI-Ark docs, September 2026).

On limits, RocketReach has one global cap of 10 requests a second plus monthly caps by plan. AI-Ark has 5 requests a second per key and no monthly call cap in its docs. At 100 records a search page, that is about 500 records a second for AI-Ark's search endpoints.

On MCP, both have a hosted server. RocketReach uses OAuth 2.1 and AI-Ark puts the API key in the server URL, so the key sits in your editor config.

Pricing

Both tools turn records into credits. RocketReach prints no dollar price per credit. AI-Ark prints one only above 30,000 credits a month. The examples below show the arithmetic and mark every extrapolation.

At 10,000 records a month

RocketReach: 10,000 exports a month is 10 Ultimate seats, since Ultimate allows 1,000 exports a month at $209 on monthly billing. So 10 x $209 = $2,090 a month (reported by G2, September 2026). That is our arithmetic, and the docs do not say you can stack seats on self-serve.

The API route is different. A professional email costs 2 Universal Credits, so 10,000 emails is 20,000 credits (RocketReach credits, September 2026). The Pro person lookup cap is 20,000 a month, so that volume fits. There is no published price per credit.

AI-Ark: a person with a verified email costs 1 credit (0.5 for the profile and 0.5 for the email), so 10,000 records is 10,000 credits (AI-Ark docs, September 2026). The $49 plan holds 5,000 credits, so you need more than one month of it or a bigger plan.

AI-Ark's page lists a Starter plan up to 30,000 credits a month and gives no price for it. At the $49 plan's rate of $9.80 per 1,000 credits, 10,000 credits is about $98. That is our arithmetic, not a quote (AI-Ark pricing, September 2026). Paying annually saves 20%.

At 1M records a month

RocketReach: no public 1M price. One million professional emails is 2,000,000 Universal Credits, with no dollar price published. The highest published person lookup cap is 200,000 a month, so 1M lookups is five months at the Custom tier (RocketReach rate limits, September 2026).

Seats do not get there either. At 1,000 exports per Ultimate seat (reported), 1M exports would take 1,000 seats, and RocketReach sells no such plan. Ask for a Custom quote.

AI-Ark: no public 1M plan price. One million records with a verified email is 1,000,000 credits. The Scale plan starts at 450,000 credits a month, and Enterprise is custom (AI-Ark pricing, September 2026).

The page states $2 to $4 per 1,000 credits above 30,000 credits. At that range, 1,000 x $2 to $4 gives $2,000 to $4,000 a month for 1,000,000 credits. That is list arithmetic, not a plan price, and a mobile number adds 5 credits per record.

AI-Ark is far cheaper than RocketReach on paper at 1M. It is also easier to pull: 1M records is 100 export jobs of 10,000 people (AI-Ark docs, September 2026). RocketReach's 100-person batches would need 10,000 bulk calls and hit the 200,000 monthly cap first.

Where RocketReach wins

  • A low entry price for one person. $69 to $209 a month on monthly billing, reported by G2, is a small bill for a single rep.
  • A bigger people count, on paper. 700M+ against 400M+, both claimed.
  • No charge for weak data. No credit on a B or F email grade, and free re-lookups while the plan is active (RocketReach FAQ, September 2026).
  • A standalone verify endpoint. POST /api/v2/email/verify runs at 300 a minute on every plan (RocketReach rate limits, September 2026).

Where AI-Ark wins

  • Cost at volume. At its stated rate range, 1M credits is a few thousand dollars a month. RocketReach prints no price at that size.
  • Bulk export. Up to 10,000 people per job against RocketReach's 100 per batch.
  • Lookalike and semantic search. Pass up to 5 seed companies and get similar ones. We found no equivalent in RocketReach's API docs.
  • A free plan with an API. 100 credits a month, rolling over, with API access listed on the plan (AI-Ark pricing, September 2026).
  • Pre-verified emails. Real-time verification at export, with no separate verify step.

If you need volume through an API

We build LeadOcean, so weigh this section accordingly. LeadOcean holds 693M people and 63M companies, reachable over REST and MCP. Free is 1,000 records, one-off, with no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat, with unlimited searches and lookups and 100 requests per second per key (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).

For bulk work, POST /v1/exports returns up to 50,000 rows per request. The app also has an Exports page with a filter builder, price preview and CSV download (LeadOcean exports docs, September 2026). There is no sequencer, dialer or Chrome extension. See the RocketReach alternative page and RocketReach alternatives.
