RocketReach wins for anyone who needs to search for new contacts and call an API. Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence) wins for teams that already run HubSpot and want their records filled in. At 1M records a month neither publishes a price, so both need a quote or a sales answer.
Verdict
- Pick RocketReach if you need to find people you do not hold yet, by search or by API, and your volume fits its monthly lookup caps. It claims 700M+ professionals and documents a REST API and an MCP server (RocketReach docs, September 2026).
- Pick Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence) if your contacts and companies already sit in HubSpot and you want them enriched without code (HubSpot docs, September 2026).
- Pick neither if you pull people and company data by API at volume. Credits and a CRM plan both price things you may not need. LeadOcean is one option, covered below.
Side by side
| RocketReach | Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence) | |
|---|---|---|
| Data size | 700M+ professionals and 60M+ companies claimed on the docs home. Its API account page says 35M companies, so the company count is unsettled (RocketReach docs) | Not published. No people or company count on the homepage (Clearbit) |
| Email coverage | No count published. 2 credits per professional email, 3 per personal (RocketReach credits) | Starts from a work email you hold. Personal addresses are not enriched (HubSpot docs) |
| Phone coverage | No count published. 6 credits per phone (RocketReach credits) | Not published (HubSpot docs) |
| API | REST, Api-Key header, set up by emailing api@rocketreach.co (RocketReach rate limits) | Docs sit behind a sign-in. Access for new customers not published (Clearbit docs) |
| MCP | Yes, mcp.rocketreach.co/mcp, OAuth 2.1, 9 tools (RocketReach MCP docs) | Not published for enrichment. HubSpot has an MCP server for CRM records (HubSpot MCP) |
| Rate limit | 10 requests per second across the API, plus minute, hourly, daily and monthly caps (RocketReach rate limits) | Not published |
| Bulk export | Bulk lookup, 100 people per batch, webhook required (RocketReach docs) | Enrichment, not export. 100 records at a time from an index page (HubSpot docs) |
| Price model | Plan fee plus Universal Credits. 1 export equals 1 API credit (RocketReach FAQ) | A HubSpot subscription. Enrichment uses no HubSpot Credits (HubSpot docs) |
| Entry price | Free: 5 lookups, no card. Essentials $69 a month on monthly billing, reported (G2) | A paid HubSpot plan. Prices are shown in local currency, so we quote none (HubSpot pricing) |
| Cost at 1M records | No public 1M price (RocketReach credits) | No public 1M price (HubSpot docs) |
All figures checked in September 2026. RocketReach prices are monthly list prices reported by G2, because rocketreach.co/pricing shows a bot check to automated reads. Its billed-yearly prices could not be verified, so we leave them out. HubSpot renames and reprices often, so confirm before you buy.
Data and coverage
RocketReach is a database you search. Clearbit is a service that fills in records you already hold. That gap matters more than any count, because only one of them can answer "find me VPs of Sales in Germany".
RocketReach claims 700M+ professionals and 60M+ companies on its docs home (RocketReach docs, September 2026). Its API account page gives a lower company figure, so treat the company count as unsettled. It publishes no count of records with an email or a phone. Clearbit publishes no count of any kind (Clearbit, September 2026).
Email quality is where RocketReach gives you a signal. It grades each email A, A-, B or F. It charges no credit when no data is found or when the grade is B or F (RocketReach FAQ, September 2026). Re-lookups of the same profile are free while the plan is active.
Clearbit enriches from what you give it. HubSpot's docs say contact enrichment uses a first name, last name and work email, and company enrichment uses a domain (HubSpot docs, September 2026). Personal addresses are not enriched. It adds job title, seniority and location. It does not find new people.
On company data Clearbit is stronger. Its homepage lists 6-digit NAICS, GICS and SIC codes, parent and subsidiary mapping, and normalised role and seniority (Clearbit, September 2026). Neither vendor prints an email or phone count, so run 500 of your own contacts through both before you commit.
API and developer experience
RocketReach has a public API reference and Clearbit does not. Clearbit's API docs redirect to a sign-in page, so a developer cannot check a request before a sales call (Clearbit docs, September 2026). New Clearbit sign-ups since December 2023 need a HubSpot account (Clearbit release notes, September 2026).
RocketReach's person lookup, from its docs (RocketReach docs, September 2026):
curl "https://api.rocketreach.co/api/v2/person/lookup?linkedin_url=https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe" \
-H "Api-Key: $ROCKETREACH_API_KEY"This is a GET and it consumes credits. The lookup can answer with a status of progress, so you poll the status endpoint or register a webhook for the verified emails. Bulk lookup needs a webhook and takes up to 100 people per batch (RocketReach docs, September 2026).
Clearbit has no public request to show. Inside HubSpot, enrichment is a setting. A Super Admin turns on automatic enrichment, and it is off by default (HubSpot docs, September 2026). Bulk enrichment from an index page runs 100 records at a time (HubSpot docs, September 2026).
On limits, RocketReach sets 10 requests per second across the API. Person lookups also cap per month: 5,000 on Essentials, 20,000 on Pro, 50,000 on Ultimate and 200,000 on Custom (RocketReach rate limits, September 2026). Clearbit publishes no rate limit.
On agents, RocketReach runs an MCP server with 9 tools, including person_search, person_lookup and email_verify, behind OAuth 2.1 (RocketReach MCP docs, September 2026). HubSpot's MCP server reads and writes CRM records such as contacts and deals. We found no MCP server for enrichment itself (HubSpot MCP, September 2026).
Pricing
RocketReach sells plans and spends Universal Credits it does not put a dollar price on. Clearbit sells nothing on its own, because enrichment rides on a HubSpot plan. Both models hide the price of one more record. The examples count one work-email lookup as one record.
At 10,000 work emails a month
- RocketReach, seat route: Ultimate lists at $209 a month on monthly billing with 1,000 exports a month, reported by G2. 10,000 / 1,000 = 10 seats x $209 = $2,090 a month. This is our arithmetic, not a published price.
- RocketReach, API route: a professional email is 2 credits, so 10,000 emails is 20,000 Universal Credits. No dollar price per credit is published, and the docs say to email api@rocketreach.co for an API plan (RocketReach credits, September 2026).
- Clearbit: no per-record price. You pay for the HubSpot plan, which HubSpot prices in your local currency (HubSpot pricing, September 2026). From an index page, 10,000 / 100 = 100 batches.
Whether Clearbit is cheap depends on whether you would buy the HubSpot plan anyway.
At 1M work emails a month
- RocketReach: No public 1M price. The API route is 1,000,000 x 2 = 2,000,000 Universal Credits with no dollar price. The highest published person lookup cap is 200,000 a month, so 1,000,000 / 200,000 = 5 months of allowance (RocketReach rate limits, September 2026).
- RocketReach, seat route: we do not multiply a seat price out to 1M. Ask api@rocketreach.co for a real number.
- Clearbit: No public 1M price. HubSpot publishes no per-record rate and no monthly volume ceiling to size against (HubSpot docs, September 2026).
Who touches the data decides the price. For one rep who prospects by hand, a RocketReach seat is a few hundred dollars a month at most. For a HubSpot admin, enrichment is a side effect of a plan already paid for. For a script or an agent, neither model fits well. Ask RocketReach for a written API quote, and ask HubSpot sales for the enrichment ceiling on your plan.
Where RocketReach wins
- It finds new people. Search by title, company and location, then look up the contact. Clearbit only fills in what you hold.
- A public API and MCP server. You can read the endpoints and the limits before you pay.
- Pay only for good emails. No credit for a B or F grade, and no credit when nothing is found (RocketReach FAQ, September 2026).
- A phone on a mid-priced plan. Pro, with email and phone, lists at $119 a month on monthly billing, reported (G2, September 2026).
Where Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence) wins
- Enrichment inside HubSpot. Automatic enrichment fills new records without anyone writing code.
- Richer company data. NAICS, GICS and SIC codes plus parent and subsidiary mapping.
- No second vendor contract if you already own a HubSpot plan.
- No credit meter for enrichment. HubSpot says it uses no HubSpot Credits (HubSpot docs, September 2026).
If you need volume through an API
Both tools hide the price of volume: RocketReach in credits and monthly caps, Clearbit in a CRM plan. LeadOcean is a data API with one flat price. Pro is $499 a month with no credits and no seats, and Free gives 1,000 records, one-off, with no card (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026). You get 693M people and 63M companies over REST and a 12-tool MCP server on every plan. POST /v1/exports returns up to 50,000 rows per request (LeadOcean exports docs, September 2026). It is a data layer, not a sales workspace or a CRM. See pricing.
FAQ
Is RocketReach or Clearbit better for finding new contacts?
RocketReach. It is a searchable database, and the docs list people search and company search endpoints (RocketReach docs, September 2026). Clearbit enrichment starts from an email or domain you already hold (HubSpot docs, September 2026).
Is Clearbit still a separate product?
Partly. Clearbit is now part of HubSpot, and new sign-ups need a HubSpot account (Clearbit release notes, September 2026). HubSpot's docs call the feature data enrichment and list it inside its hubs.
Which is cheaper, RocketReach or Clearbit?
It depends on what you already own. A RocketReach seat starts at $69 a month on monthly billing, reported (G2, September 2026). Clearbit adds little if you already pay for HubSpot. At 1M records neither publishes a price.
Do both have an API and an MCP server?
RocketReach has both, and its API plan is set up through api@rocketreach.co (RocketReach rate limits, September 2026). Clearbit documents an API behind a sign-in, and we found no enrichment MCP server. HubSpot's MCP server covers CRM records.
How do their rate limits compare?
RocketReach allows 10 requests per second across the API, with monthly person lookup caps from 5,000 to 200,000 by plan. Clearbit publishes no rate limit. Ask HubSpot before you build on it.
How does LeadOcean compare with these two?
LeadOcean is one flat price, $499 a month on Pro, with REST and MCP and no seats, credits or CRM. It does not fill HubSpot properties on its own.
