RocketReach is a people-search app with an API behind it. Prospeo is an email and mobile finder with a credit pool and a REST API. Only Prospeo publishes a price near 1M records a month. Pick Prospeo for pay-as-you-go emails, and RocketReach for hand lookups on a big index.

Verdict

  • Pick RocketReach if one person or a small team looks up contacts by hand and wants a large searchable index and a low entry price. Plans list at $69 to $209 a month on monthly billing, as G2 reports them (G2, September 2026).
  • Pick Prospeo if you want published prices, verified emails and a REST API you can read the limits of before you sign. A verified email costs 1 credit and a miss costs nothing (Prospeo help center, September 2026).
  • Pick neither if the job is people and company records at volume through an API at a fixed bill. Both meter, and past 100,000 records a month the maths gets heavy. LeadOcean is one option, covered below.

Data and coverage

RocketReach states the larger people index: 700M+ professionals. Prospeo gives two figures that do not match, 200M+ contacts in its API docs and 280M leads and companies on its homepage. All of these are vendor claims, and neither tool publishes a count of records with a phone.

The tools sell different things. RocketReach is a searchable index. You search by title, employer and location, then spend a lookup to reveal contact details. Prospeo is built around the verified email. You pay when it finds one, and a miss costs nothing.

Email quality is handled in the credit. RocketReach grades each email A, A-, B or F, and it charges nothing for B or F (RocketReach FAQ, September 2026). Prospeo charges per email found and lets you set only_verified_email so unverified matches return nothing (Prospeo enrich docs, September 2026). Its homepage claims 98% data accuracy, and we have not tested it.

Phones are where both get expensive. Prospeo charges 10 credits per mobile, ten times an email. RocketReach charges 6 credits per profile with a phone, three times its 2-credit professional email.

Search differs in depth. Prospeo returns 25 results a page and stops at 25,000 results per search, and search results carry no contact data (Prospeo search docs, September 2026). RocketReach returns up to 100 results a page for 1 credit (RocketReach credits, September 2026). RocketReach also has healthcare enrichment and a standalone email verify endpoint.

Run 500 contacts you know are good through both and count emails found, bounces and phones. Vendor percentages will not tell you how your market is covered.

API and developer experience

Both have a REST API with a key in a header. RocketReach looks a person up by an identifier with a GET. Prospeo enriches a person with a POST and a data object. Placeholders below stand in for real people.

RocketReach, person lookup from its docs (RocketReach docs, September 2026):

bash
curl --request GET \
  --url "https://api.rocketreach.co/api/v2/person/lookup?linkedin_url=https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe" \
  --header "Api-Key: $ROCKETREACH_API_KEY"

The call consumes export credits. If the lookup status is progress, you poll the status endpoint or register a webhook to get the verified emails.

Prospeo, enrich a person from its docs (Prospeo docs, September 2026):

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.prospeo.io/enrich-person" \
  -H "X-KEY: $PROSPEO_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"only_verified_email":true,"data":{"first_name":"Jane","last_name":"Doe","company_website":"acme.com"}}'

A verified email costs 1 credit. No result costs nothing, and re-enriching the same record within 90 days is free.

Limits differ in shape. RocketReach caps the whole API at 10 requests per second and adds per-plan monthly caps. Ultimate allows 100 person lookups a minute and 50,000 a month (RocketReach rate limits, September 2026). Prospeo splits enrich and search into two buckets, each with per-second, per-minute and per-day caps (Prospeo rate limits, September 2026).

Access differs too. RocketReach's docs say to email api@rocketreach.co to set up an API plan, and they publish no price for it. Prospeo's API is on the paid plans, and the Free plan is unclear. The pricing table shows no API on Free. The help center lists 1 request a second and 50 a day, and the API docs intro says free access for all users. Test a free key before you plan around it.

Both ship a hosted MCP server. RocketReach exposes 9 tools for search, lookup, email verify and account checks. Prospeo exposes 8 and takes OAuth 2.0 or an API key, with bulk enrich of 25 over MCP.

Pricing

RocketReach sells seats and API credits. Prospeo sells per-user plans with credits and add-ons. Figures use the monthly list price first and the billed-yearly price after it. USD, September 2026. A record below means one work email found.

At 10,000 records a month

Prospeo. 10,000 emails at 1 credit each is 10,000 credits. The cheapest public mix on monthly billing is Growth at $99 for 5,000 credits plus the 5,000-credit add-on at $90. That is $189 a month. One Pro seat at $249 gives 15,000 credits. Billed yearly, Pro is $187 a month, or $2,241 a year for 180,000 credits delivered upfront (Prospeo pricing, September 2026). Credits expire at the end of each cycle.

For mobiles, 10,000 is 100,000 credits. Starter at $49 plus the 100,000-credit add-on at $1,200 is $1,249 a month for 102,000 credits.

RocketReach, seat route. Ultimate lists at $209 a month with 1,000 exports a month in G2's headline (G2, September 2026). 10,000 / 1,000 = 10 seats, and 10 x $209 = $2,090 a month. That is our arithmetic, not a published plan. One G2 paragraph says 500 exports, which would double it to 20 seats, or $4,180. No billed-yearly figure is shown because that price could not be read first-party.

RocketReach, API route. A professional email is 2 Universal Credits, so 10,000 emails is 20,000 credits (RocketReach credits, September 2026). RocketReach publishes no dollar price per credit and no API plan price. Ask api@rocketreach.co for a quote.

On list prices Prospeo costs far less at this size. A quote on RocketReach's API route could change that, so ask for one.

At 1M records a month

Prospeo. No single tier reaches 1M. The cheapest public mix on monthly billing is 44 Pro seats at $249 for 660,000 credits, plus the 350,000-credit add-on at $3,500. That is 1,010,000 credits for $14,456 a month. Add-on credits are shared by the team and do not grow with seats.

Billed yearly, 3 Pro seats at $2,241 plus the 500,000-credit yearly add-on at $4,500 is $11,223 once for 1,040,000 credits upfront. Add-ons follow the billing period, and switching between monthly and yearly removes them (Prospeo help center, September 2026).

The figures assume every lookup finds a result. 1M mobiles is 10M credits, which no public plan sells. Prospeo publishes nothing above its top add-on tiers. Support enables extended pricing on request (Prospeo help center, September 2026).

RocketReach. No public 1M price. The highest published person lookup cap is 200,000 a month on Custom, so 1M lookups is five months of allowance (RocketReach rate limits, September 2026). In credits, 1M professional emails is 2,000,000 Universal Credits with no dollar price attached.

Do not multiply RocketReach's seat price out to 1M and call it a quote. It sells that volume by negotiation.

Where RocketReach wins

  • A larger stated index. 700M+ professionals against 200M+ contacts in Prospeo's API docs.
  • Cheaper phones per credit. 6 credits for a phone against 10 on Prospeo, though RocketReach publishes no dollar price per credit.
  • Free re-lookups. A profile you already revealed costs nothing again while the plan is active (RocketReach FAQ, September 2026).
  • Wider search pages. 100 results a page against 25 on Prospeo.
  • Healthcare data and standalone verification. NPI enrichment, plus an email verify endpoint at 300 a minute (RocketReach rate limits, September 2026).

Where Prospeo wins

  • Published prices. Every plan and add-on has a list price, and a 1M mix is worked out above. RocketReach publishes no API price.
  • Cheaper at 10,000 emails a month. $189 on Growth plus an add-on against $2,090 on the RocketReach seat route, on list prices.
  • API access without a sales email. Paid plans get the REST API and MCP server directly, and the limits are public.
  • Verified-only emails. only_verified_email means you pay only for addresses it verified.
  • Higher throughput on Pro. 30 enrich requests per second and 500,000 a day, against RocketReach's global 10 per second (Prospeo rate limits, September 2026).

If you need volume through an API

Both tools meter, and past a few hundred thousand records neither gives a simple monthly price. LeadOcean is a people and company data API with an MCP server. Free gives 1,000 records, one-off, with no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat, with no credits and no per-record price. You get 693M people and 63M companies over REST and a 12-tool MCP server, and POST /v1/exports returns up to 50,000 rows per request (LeadOcean exports docs, September 2026). It has no Chrome extension or sequences, so reps who live in one app should keep their current tool. See pricing.

If you are weighing other contact finders, we compared RocketReach with UpLead, SalesIntel and LeadIQ. The RocketReach alternative page and the list of RocketReach alternatives cover the credit model in more depth. More comparisons are in the blog.
