Developers leave Snov.io's API when the call pattern costs more than the data. The API is limited to 60 requests per minute (Snov.io API docs, September 2026). Name and domain email search takes 10 rows a request and runs as a start call plus a result call. At 600 lookups a minute, 1M lookups take about 28 hours of nonstop calls, before you read a single result.

Price is the second pain. One credit buys one email, prospect or verification, and the largest self-serve plan is 100,000 credits for $738 a month (Snov.io pricing, September 2026). Above that you need a sales quote. Free-plan users get API test access only by booking a demo.

This page ranks seven alternatives on rate limits, auth, schema, bulk export, MCP and the list price of 1M records a month. LeadOcean is first for anyone who pulls data through an API, an agent or at volume. For a two-column view, read LeadOcean vs Snov.io. For a wider list, see Snov.io alternatives.

"1M records" here means 1M work-email lookups that return a result, one credit each where the vendor uses credits. For reference, Snov.io is about $7,380 at the $0.00738 credit price of its largest plan, billed monthly (Snov.io pricing, September 2026). Figures are list prices. Where a vendor sells no plan at 1M, the cell says so. Enterprise quotes differ, so ask each vendor at your volume.

What we evaluated

  • Rate limits: requests a second or a minute on the lookup endpoints, and any daily cap.
  • Auth and schema: how you sign requests, how a lookup is matched, and what shape comes back.
  • Bulk export: rows per request or per export, and whether results arrive inline or by polling.
  • MCP: whether an agent can search and enrich through the server, or only read docs.
  • Cost at 1M records: list price for 1M lookups a month, and what the plan gates.

We read each vendor's pricing page and docs in September 2026. We ran no find-rate or accuracy test, so we quote no quality numbers.

1. LeadOcean: best for API, agent and volume buyers

LeadOcean is one REST API and one MCP server over 693M people and 63M companies. 366M people have an email and 166M have a phone number. Auth is one x-api-key header, with no token exchange. Pro allows 100 requests per second per key, with 5 keys, for a flat $499 a month (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).

The schema is one record. Search, enrich and export return the same leadocean.person.v1 person, and a field we do not hold is null (LeadOcean docs, September 2026). Every address carries one of 13 email statuses, from verified to spam_trap. Snov.io's finder returns two, valid and unknown. A miss on POST /v1/people/enrich is a free 404.

Bulk is POST /v1/exports, up to 50,000 rows per request, so 1M rows is 20 calls over two days. At 100 requests per second, 1M single lookups take about 2.8 hours on one key. The MCP server at https://api.leadocean.io/mcp signs in with OAuth 2.1 and exposes 12 tools.

Here is the same lookup on both APIs. Snov.io takes a name and a domain, so it needs a token, a start call and a result call. The first call below is the token request.

bash
// Snov.io: token, start (up to 10 rows), then read the result
TOKEN=$(curl -s -X POST "https://api.snov.io/v1/oauth/access_token" \
  -d grant_type=client_credentials \
  -d client_id="$SNOV_CLIENT_ID" -d client_secret="$SNOV_CLIENT_SECRET" | jq -r .access_token)

curl -s -X POST "https://api.snov.io/v2/emails-by-domain-by-name/start" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $TOKEN" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"rows":[{"first_name":"Jane","last_name":"Doe","domain":"example.com"}]}'

curl -s "https://api.snov.io/v2/emails-by-domain-by-name/result?task_hash=$TASK_HASH" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $TOKEN"

// LeadOcean: search by name and domain, then enrich by the person_id the row returns
curl "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/people/search?q=Jane%20Doe&domain=example.com&limit=1" \
  -H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY"

curl "https://api.leadocean.io/v1/people/enrich?person_id=$PERSON_ID&reveal_email=true" \
  -H "x-api-key: $LEADOCEAN_API_KEY"

LeadOcean enrich takes one identifier: a LinkedIn URL, email, phone or person_id. It has no name plus domain call, so you search first. Start from a LinkedIn URL and it is one request, POST /v1/people/enrich with {"linkedin_url":"...","reveal_email":true}.

Pros

  • 100 requests per second per key on every plan, Free included, and no token to refresh.
  • Flat $499 a month at any volume, with no credit meter.
  • Synchronous responses, one schema, and 13 email statuses on every record.
  • POST /v1/exports returns up to 50,000 rows per request, and count_leads is free.
  • REST and MCP on every plan, including Free.

Cons

  • No name plus domain finder. Search first, then enrich by person_id, or start from a LinkedIn URL.
  • No sender, sequencer, CRM or Chrome extension. You work in the API, MCP or the app's Exports page.
  • A miss on a v2 contact endpoint costs one record.

Best for: engineers, RevOps and agents that need volume, a stable schema and a fixed bill.

Pricing: Free is 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).

2. BlitzAPI: best for flat-price search and enrichment by API

BlitzAPI sells people and company search, email and phone enrichment and job data on flat monthly plans. Core is $399 a month and leaves out emails and phones. Plus is $499 and adds verified work emails. Full is $599 and adds US phone numbers (BlitzAPI pricing, September 2026).

It is the nearest LeadOcean rival on price model, and like LeadOcean it has no name plus domain call. The work email endpoint takes a LinkedIn URL (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026). Auth is an x-api-key header, with no token exchange. Search pages hold 50 results and stop at 50,000 per query (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026).

Read the limits before you commit. 50 requests per second applies to accounts opened by September 30, 2026. Standard accounts run at 5, per endpoint (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026). Its MCP server gives an assistant the API documentation, not the data (BlitzAPI docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • Flat $499 for verified work emails. The stated 15,000,000 results a month is a launch-offer limit for accounts opened by September 30, 2026 (Terms 9.1). Limits for later accounts are not published.
  • Key auth, so no OAuth token to refresh.
  • Job postings and identity resolution next to people and company search.

Cons

  • Phones need the top plan and are US only.
  • The MCP server reads docs. An agent cannot search or enrich through it.
  • The fast rate limit depends on when the account opened, and a standard account is 5 a second.
  • No name plus domain lookup, so a Snov.io-style call needs a LinkedIn URL first.

Best for: teams that want a flat-price API from a second vendor and enrich from LinkedIn URLs in their own code.

Pricing: Core $399, Plus $499, Full $599 a month (BlitzAPI pricing, September 2026).

3. LeadMagic: best for cheap valid emails with a cost preview

LeadMagic is a credit-based enrichment API with an X-API-Key header. Its Email Finder takes a name and a domain, the closest drop-in for Snov.io's call. It allows 600 requests a minute, about 10 a second, and a failed lookup costs nothing (LeadMagic docs, September 2026). Snov.io's 60 requests of 10 rows is also 600 lookups a minute, but LeadMagic takes one row per request.

Credits fall from $0.0198 on Essential to $0.00849 on Ultimate. Essential is $99 for 5,000 credits and Ultimate is $849 for 100,000. A valid email costs 1 credit and a mobile 5 (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026). Ultimate is the top public plan, so there is no public price at 1M a month.

The docs also state that a sustained find rate below 10% can lead to throttling or suspension. The hosted MCP server uses OAuth, and preview_cost shows the price of a large job before it runs (LeadMagic docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • Name plus domain lookup, so a Snov.io call ports over with small changes.
  • Low per-credit list price, and no charge on a miss.
  • Hosted MCP server with a cost preview before large jobs.

Cons

  • About 10 requests a second on Email Finder, below LeadOcean's 100 per key.
  • The top self-serve plan is 100,000 credits, so 1M a month needs a quote.
  • A minimum find-rate policy can throttle lists with poor match rates.

Best for: teams that enrich a few hundred thousand valid emails a month from names and domains.

Pricing: Essential $99, Growth $249, Professional $499, Ultimate $849 a month (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026).

4. Prospeo: best for name and company lookups with an extension

Prospeo prices per user and then per credit. One verified email costs 1 credit and a mobile costs 10. Starter is $49 per user a month, Growth $99 and Pro $249, and credit add-ons start at 500 credits for $10 on monthly billing. The add-on slider prices 1,000 credits at $20, though the pricing FAQ says 1,000 for $10 (Prospeo pricing, September 2026). Add-ons fall to $0.01 a credit at 350,000 a month and $0.009 at 500,000 a year. No add-on reaches 1M in a month.

Enrichment matches on a name and a company website, or a LinkedIn URL, with an X-KEY header and no token exchange (Prospeo docs, September 2026). The limits are by plan. Enrich runs at 5 requests a second on Starter and Growth and 30 on Pro, with daily caps of 2,000, 5,000 and 500,000 (Prospeo docs, September 2026).

Bulk enrichment takes up to 50 records per request (Prospeo docs, September 2026). Search returns 25 results a page (Prospeo docs, September 2026). The hosted MCP server has 8 tools and signs in with OAuth 2.0 or an API key (Prospeo docs, September 2026).

Pros

  • Name plus company lookup, and a synchronous response.
  • No credit is charged when an enrich finds no result.
  • Both an API key and OAuth work on the MCP server.
  • A Chrome extension and CRM sync for reps on the same account.

Cons

  • Seats and credits both scale the bill.
  • Daily caps of 2,000 and 5,000 enrich calls on the two lower plans, so Starter tops out at 60,000 lookups in 30 days.
  • Search results carry no email, so you pay again to enrich them.

Best for: small teams that want an API, an extension and pay-as-you-go emails.

Pricing: Free 100 credits a month. Starter $49, Growth $99, Pro $249 per user a month (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).

5. Findymail: best for verified-only emails with a bounce guarantee

Findymail returns only verified emails and charges nothing when it finds none. It costs 1 credit per email and 10 per phone number (Findymail docs, September 2026). Its pricing page blocks automated reading, so we print no Findymail price. Read plans and credit rates on Findymail's pricing page.

It advertises a bounce guarantee on its pricing page. Auth is a Bearer token, there is no OAuth exchange to manage, and the stated limit is 300 concurrent requests. The docs link an OpenAPI spec and a Postman collection (Findymail docs, September 2026). Phones are US only.

The official MCP server at mcp.findymail.com has 14 tools and signs in through the browser or a bearer token (Findymail plugin, September 2026).

Pros

  • Verified-only output, and no charge on a miss.
  • A bounce guarantee advertised on its pricing page.
  • MCP server with 14 tools and an OpenAPI spec.

Cons

  • Phones are US only at 10 credits each.
  • Pricing is not readable by automated tools, so check it by hand.
  • Employee search is thin: up to 5 contacts a call, no email returned.

Best for: outbound teams that want verified emails from an API with an advertised bounce guarantee.

Pricing: Not published here. See Findymail's pricing page.

6. Hunter: best for domain search and verification by API

Hunter finds and verifies emails by domain, or by name plus domain. That matches Snov.io's Domain Search and finder. Auth is an X-API-KEY header, a query parameter or a Bearer token. Email Finder and Domain Search allow 15 requests a second, Verifier 10 and Discover 5 (Hunter API docs, September 2026). Domain Search returns up to 100 results a request.

Plans are credit based. Free gives 50 credits a month. Scale is $299 a month, or $209 billed yearly, for 25,000 credits a month (Hunter pricing, September 2026). Heavier volume goes through the Data Platform, which is API and bulk only. It sells 1,000,000 Search credits for $6,900, bought once and valid 12 months (Hunter Data Platform, September 2026).

The MCP server at mcp.hunter.io/mcp takes an API key or OAuth and spends your plan credits (Hunter MCP, September 2026).

Pros

  • Name plus domain and domain-only lookups in one API, with key auth.
  • 15 requests a second on Email Finder, above Snov.io's 60 a minute.
  • MCP server with API key or OAuth sign-in.

Cons

  • The all-in-one Scale plan stops at 25,000 credits a month. More volume means the Data Platform.
  • Domain-first search, not a people database you filter across.
  • A credit buys one email, so cost scales with every lookup.

Best for: teams that find emails by domain and verify them from the same API.

Pricing: Free. Starter $49 a month. Scale $209 a month billed yearly. 1,000,000 Search credits on Data Platform are $6,900 once, valid 12 months (Hunter pricing, September 2026; Hunter Data Platform, September 2026).

7. Icypeas: best for the lowest credit price on self-serve plans

Icypeas is a credit-based email and profile finder. Auth is an Authorization header holding your API key and nothing else (Icypeas docs, September 2026). A lookup is asynchronous like Snov.io's: you submit a search, get an _id, then read the result.

That shape sets the limits. Email search allows 10 calls a second. Bulk search allows 1 call a second with up to 5,000 rows per call. The result-read route allows 30 calls a minute (Icypeas docs, September 2026).

Credits are cheap. Basic is $19 for 1,000 credits and Hypergrowth is $499 for 100,000, about $0.00499 each. The rate falls to $0.003992 at 1M credits and $0.003493 at 10M credits a month. Credits roll over. The credit selector publishes volume tiers: 20K $178, 30K $267, 50K $445, 100K $499, 200K $998, 500K $2,245.50, 1M $3,992 and 10M $34,930 a month. The yearly selector runs to 120M credits for $349,300 a year (Icypeas pricing, September 2026). The hosted MCP server has 21 tools and signs in with your API key (Icypeas guide, September 2026).

Pros

  • The lowest per-credit list price on a self-serve plan in this group.
  • Credits roll over with no expiry.
  • MCP server with 21 tools, and people search at 0.02 credits a result.

Cons

  • Submit-then-read lookups, the same two-step shape you may be leaving.
  • 10 calls a second on email search, and 30 result reads a minute.
  • Tiers above 100,000 credits sit in a script-driven selector, so the page text hides them.

Best for: teams that run large batches, accept async lookups and want the cheapest credit.

Pricing: Basic $19 a month for 1,000 credits. Hypergrowth $499 for 100,000. Volume tiers up to 10M credits at $34,930 a month (Icypeas pricing, September 2026).

Sources are linked in each tool section, all checked in September 2026. Vendors change plans often, so confirm on the pricing page before you buy. The 1M column is list price for 1M work-email lookups. Icypeas is its published 1M-credit tier. Prospeo is its cheapest public path, seats plus an add-on. LeadMagic sells no public plan at 1M, so its cell names the top tier. Findymail publishes no price we could read. Hunter uses its Data Platform price, 1,000,000 Search credits for $6,900, bought once and valid 12 months. Snov.io for comparison: 60 requests a minute, 10 rows a request, a Bearer token that expires in 3,600 seconds (Snov.io API docs, September 2026), and about $7,380 at 1M.

How to choose

  • You pull data in code or with an agent, at volume: LeadOcean. One flat price, REST and MCP on every plan, 100 requests per second per key, synchronous answers.
  • You want a second flat-price API: BlitzAPI Plus, if you can live with a docs-only MCP server and LinkedIn URL input.
  • You have names and domains and want the nearest drop-in for Snov.io's finder: LeadMagic, or Hunter if 25,000 credits a month is enough.
  • You want the lowest credit price and can live with async: Icypeas.
  • You care about bounces more than volume: Findymail, which advertises a bounce guarantee on its pricing page.
  • Your reps need an extension beside the API: Prospeo, and watch the daily caps on Starter and Growth.
  • You send campaigns, warm up mailboxes or run LinkedIn outreach from Snov.io: keep Snov.io for sending and call a data API for the lists. See LeadOcean vs Snov.io.

Verdict

LeadOcean wins for API, agent and volume buyers. It has a flat price, 100 requests per second per key, a stable schema and an MCP server that returns records. BlitzAPI is the flat-price runner-up if you run your own code. LeadMagic wins for cheap valid emails from a name and domain, Hunter for domain search and Icypeas for the lowest credit price. Findymail wins on verified-only output and Prospeo for teams that want an extension. Stay on Snov.io if you send campaigns from it and stay under 50,000 credits a month. Otherwise start on the free plan and compare the same lookups.

FAQ

Why do developers leave Snov.io's API?

Limits and shape. The API allows 60 requests a minute and name and domain search takes 10 rows a request (Snov.io API docs, September 2026). Every lookup is a start call plus a result call. Credits are the meter, and above 100,000 a month you need a quote.

What is the Snov.io API rate limit?

60 requests per minute, stated at the top of the API page. Prospect search returns up to 20 profiles a page. Access tokens expire after 3,600 seconds, so a long job refreshes its token (Snov.io API docs, September 2026).

What is the cheapest Snov.io API alternative at 1M records a month?

On list price, LeadOcean at $499 flat and BlitzAPI Plus at $499 are the cheapest flat plans. BlitzAPI's $499 applies to accounts opened by September 30, 2026. Icypeas lists 1M credits at $3,992 a month. Hunter sells 1M Search credits for $6,900 once, valid 12 months. Findymail publishes no price we could read. LeadMagic has no public price at 1M, and Prospeo's cheapest public path is $14,456 a month. Enterprise quotes narrow the gap.

How much does Snov.io cost at 1M records a month?

Snov.io lists no plan at that volume. At the $0.00738 credit price of its largest plan, 1M credits is about $7,380 a month, billed monthly. Custom Ultra starts at 200,000 credits and is a sales quote (Snov.io pricing, September 2026).

Which Snov.io alternative has an MCP server that returns data?

LeadOcean, LeadMagic, Prospeo, Findymail, Hunter and Icypeas all do. BlitzAPI's server reads documentation only. Snov.io also has an MCP server, on every plan, that spends your credits (Snov.io MCP, September 2026). Compare the tools each one exposes before you choose.

Do I need a credit card to try LeadOcean?

No. The free plan needs a work email and no card. It gives you 1,000 records, one-off, with the same API and MCP server as Pro. See pricing.
