ZoomInfo and Crustdata both sell people and company data to code and agents, for different jobs. ZoomInfo is a sales intelligence suite, with a pay-as-you-go API now sold as GTM AI. Crustdata is a data API built around live web data and change alerts, sold on credits.
Verdict
- Pick ZoomInfo if you want intent signals, direct dials and a company database of 100M+ records. You also get a published price per credit, from $0.45 down to $0.25, and free search.
- Pick Crustdata if you want live web data, job and post search, or alerts when a person changes jobs. It also claims 1B people, the larger people index of the two.
- Pick neither if you need millions of records through an API at a price you can read. Neither publishes a 1M price. LeadOcean is one option: Pro is $499 a month, flat.

Data and coverage
ZoomInfo claims 500M+ contacts and 100M+ companies. Crustdata claims 1B people. These are the vendors' own numbers, and neither is audited. On people, Crustdata claims about twice as many. On companies, compare with care: Crustdata's homepage states both 60M and 200M+ (Crustdata, September 2026).
ZoomInfo's Sales page claims 174M-plus verified emails and 120M+ direct dials (ZoomInfo Sales, October 2026). Crustdata publishes no email or phone count, so you cannot size it from the website. Run the same 500 people through each free start and compare match rates.
The products differ beyond contacts. ZoomInfo's API and MCP server cover intent signals, scoops, news and similar-company search (ZoomInfo MCP tools, September 2026). Intent needs a package that includes it. Crustdata indexes the web into one graph of people, companies, jobs and posts, and it can fetch live profiles at request time (Crustdata, September 2026).
Crustdata can also watch a person or company for changes. A person watcher costs 5 credits per changed person at a 30-day SLA, and up to 150 at 1 day (Crustdata pricing docs, September 2026).
API and developer experience
Both are REST APIs with an official MCP server. The setup differs. Crustdata uses an API key and a version header. ZoomInfo uses OAuth 2.0 and a JSON:API content type.
Crustdata's contact endpoint takes profile URLs and returns emails and phones in one request. It needs an enterprise plan. Self-serve keys get a 403 (Crustdata contact docs, September 2026). Here is the request from its docs:
curl --request POST \
--url https://api.crustdata.com/person/contact/enrich \
--header "authorization: Bearer $CRUSTDATA_API_KEY" \
--header 'content-type: application/json' \
--header 'x-api-version: 2025-11-01' \
--data '{
"professional_network_profile_urls": ["https://www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe"],
"fields": ["contact.business_emails"]
}'On a self-serve key, a work email comes from /person/enrich instead: 1 base credit plus 1 for the business email, so 2 credits. Misses on the contact endpoint are not billed.
ZoomInfo needs an app with a client ID and secret. For server-to-server work you swap them for a token, then call the Data API (ZoomInfo docs, September 2026). Here are both calls:
curl -X POST "https://api.zoominfo.com/gtm/oauth/v1/token" \
-u "$ZI_CLIENT_ID:$ZI_CLIENT_SECRET" \
-d "grant_type=client_credentials"
curl -X POST "https://api.zoominfo.com/gtm/data/v1/contacts/enrich" \
-H "authorization: Bearer $ZI_TOKEN" \
-H "content-type: application/vnd.api+json" \
-d '{"data":{"type":"ContactEnrich","attributes":{"matchPersonInput":[{"personId":1234567890}],"outputFields":["id","email","companyName"],"requiredFields":["id","companyName"]}}}'One enrich call takes up to 25 contacts. A record that returns no match, or an error, is not charged (ZoomInfo docs, September 2026). Search is free and enrich is the step that spends a credit.
Rate limits differ in kind. ZoomInfo's are per second by package: Builder 5, Standard 25, Scaling 35, with hourly and daily caps (ZoomInfo rate limits, September 2026). Another ZoomInfo docs page lists 25 a second as the default with 30 and 35 as paid add-ons, so the two pages differ slightly.
Crustdata's are per minute and per endpoint, and Crustdata says higher limits go through an email to its team (Crustdata rate limits, September 2026). At 15 requests a minute, one-at-a-time enrichment is slow at volume. Async batch jobs of up to 10,000 people avoid that wait.
Pricing
ZoomInfo's API charges one data credit per new record, with a price per credit that falls as you buy more. Crustdata charges credits per call and does not publish a price per credit. So ZoomInfo gives you a dollar figure and Crustdata gives you a credit count.
At 10,000 records a month
For ZoomInfo's API, 10,000 records is 10,000 data credits. The list rate is $0.38 a credit for purchases of 2,500 to 10,000 credits. So 10,000 x $0.38 = $3,800 (GTM AI pricing, September 2026).
A ZoomInfo credit is charged once per record per 12 months, and search is free (ZoomInfo docs, September 2026). The platform plans are a separate route. Vendr reports a median of $33,500 a year across 1,574 purchases (Vendr, updated February 2026), and zoominfo.com/pricing returned a human check, so we could not read platform plan prices.
For Crustdata, take 10,000 work emails through /person/enrich. That is 10,000 x (1 + 1) = 20,000 credits (Crustdata pricing docs, September 2026). Search alone is 10,000 x 0.03 = 300 credits. The dollar cost is your quoted price per credit times 20,000. A blog post reports a lowest tier from $95 a month, but the pricing page lists no plan or credit allowance.
At 1M records a month
For ZoomInfo: no public 1M price. The GTM AI slider stops at 100,000 credits for $25,000, which is $0.25 a credit and the lowest published rate. Above that, ZoomInfo sends you to Enterprise (GTM AI pricing, September 2026). We do not multiply that rate out to 1M and call it a quote.
For Crustdata: no public 1M price. 1,000,000 work-email lookups is 1,000,000 x (1 + 1) = 2,000,000 credits on /person/enrich. On the enterprise-only contact endpoint it is 1,000,000 x 1 = 1,000,000 credits (Crustdata pricing docs, September 2026). The price per credit is not public.
Ask both for a quote at your volume. Ask Crustdata what happens to unused credits too. Its docs say purchased credits expire 12 months after purchase (Crustdata credits, September 2026). A Crustdata blog post from July 2026 says 6 months (Crustdata blog, September 2026). ZoomInfo's credits do not expire while the account is active (GTM AI pricing, September 2026).
Where ZoomInfo wins
- Published dollar prices. A data credit is $0.45 at 100 credits and $0.25 at 100,000. You can model a bill before you talk to sales.
- Contact data and signals. 174M-plus verified emails and 120M+ direct dials claimed, with intent, scoops and news on top.
- Re-enrichment is free for a year. A record is charged once per 12 months, so repeat lookups inside that window cost nothing.
- Higher request limits. Up to 35 requests a second, against 15 to 30 a minute at Crustdata.
Where Crustdata wins
- A larger people index. 1B people claimed, against ZoomInfo's 500M+ contacts.
- Live data and change alerts. Live profile fetch, job and post search, and watchers on people and companies.
- Cheap discovery. Search is 0.03 credits per result. Identify and autocomplete are free.
- Big async batches. Up to 10,000 people in one batch job, against 25 per ZoomInfo enrich call.
If you need volume through an API
We build LeadOcean, so weigh this section accordingly. LeadOcean holds 693M people, 366M of them with an email and 166M with a phone number, plus 63M companies. You reach them over REST and MCP. Free is 1,000 records, one-off, with no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat, with no credits and a limit of 100 requests per second per key (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).
For bulk work, POST /v1/exports returns up to 50,000 rows per request. The app has an Exports page with a filter builder and CSV download (LeadOcean exports docs, September 2026). Past the fair-usage line a very large month is paced down, and one email to support raises the headroom. There is no intent data, watchers or live web fetch. See the ZoomInfo alternative page for a line-by-line version.
FAQ
Which has more data, ZoomInfo or Crustdata?
By their own claims, Crustdata has more people (1B against 500M+ contacts). On companies it depends on which Crustdata figure you read: its homepage shows both 60M and 200M+, against ZoomInfo's 100M+. Only ZoomInfo publishes email and phone counts, so test both on your own list.
Does ZoomInfo or Crustdata have an MCP server?
Both do. ZoomInfo's needs a free GTM AI account or a subscription with data credits. Crustdata's is at install.crustdata.com/mcp, with OAuth for apps and an API key for code.
Which is cheaper at 10,000 records?
ZoomInfo gives a number: 10,000 x $0.38 = $3,800 at list. Crustdata gives 20,000 credits for work emails and no public price per credit, so we cannot compare them in dollars. Get a credit price from Crustdata first.
Can I get emails from Crustdata on a self-serve key?
Yes, through /person/enrich, at 2 credits for a work email. The dedicated contact endpoint needs an enterprise plan and returns a 403 on self-serve keys (Crustdata contact docs, September 2026).
Do I need a contract to use the ZoomInfo API?
Not for GTM AI. It is pay as you go from $20 with no contract and no seat fee (GTM AI pricing, September 2026). ZoomInfo's platform plans are annual contracts (ZoomInfo, July 2026).
Where can I compare these tools with others?
