ZoomInfo is the bigger platform and wins for sales teams that want signals, org charts and one suite. Prospeo is the cheaper way to buy verified emails and mobiles by credit, so it wins for small teams and light API use. At 1M records a month neither tool has a public plan, and Prospeo's stacked list price is $14,456 against no ZoomInfo price at all.

Verdict

  • Pick ZoomInfo if reps need intent signals, direct dials, CRM sync and a conversation tool in one contract, or if an AI agent should read ZoomInfo data through its MCP server (ZoomInfo Sales, September 2026).
  • Pick Prospeo if you mainly need verified work emails and mobiles, by API or Chrome extension, and you want to pay only for matches (Prospeo help center, September 2026).
  • Pick neither if you pull people and company data by API at volume. Credits and seats both get awkward there. LeadOcean is one option, covered below.

Data and coverage

ZoomInfo claims the larger database, and it sells more than contacts. Its Sales page lists 420M+ contacts and 145M+ companies, and the MCP docs round to 500M+ and 100M+ (ZoomInfo Sales, September 2026). Both are ZoomInfo's own figures, and they do not match across pages. Prospeo's homepage counts 280M leads and companies, and its API docs say 200M+ contacts and 30M+ companies (Prospeo, September 2026).

The products start from different places. ZoomInfo starts from an account: search on 300+ attributes, pick the companies, then enrich the people. It adds intent signals, website visitor data and conversation intelligence on top (ZoomInfo Sales, September 2026). Prospeo starts from a person you already know. Send a name and a company website, or a LinkedIn URL, and it returns a profile, a verified email and, if you ask, a mobile.

Phones are the place to test, not trust. ZoomInfo claims 120M+ direct dials on one line and 70M+ phone numbers on another, with no accuracy rate. Prospeo prints no phone count at all and charges 10 credits per mobile. Neither number is independent. Run the same 200 contacts through both and compare the hit rate before you commit.

Around the data, Prospeo offers a Chrome extension on every plan, HubSpot and Salesforce sync on Growth and Pro, and job change tracking from Growth up (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).

API and developer experience

Both tools have a REST API and an official MCP server, and they feel different. ZoomInfo's API is built for enterprise apps: OAuth 2.0 tokens, JSON:API media types and an enrich call that takes up to 25 contacts. Prospeo's is a single header key and a flat JSON body. Placeholders below stand in for real people.

ZoomInfo, enrich a contact by ID. Search is free, so the usual pattern is to search first and enrich by ID.

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.zoominfo.com/gtm/data/v1/contacts/enrich" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $ZOOMINFO_ACCESS_TOKEN" \
  -H "accept: application/vnd.api+json" \
  -H "content-type: application/vnd.api+json" \
  -d '{"data":{"type":"ContactEnrich","attributes":{"matchPersonInput":[{"personId":1234567890}],"outputFields":["id","email","companyName"],"requiredFields":["id"]}}}'

Each returned record charges one credit unless it is already under management, and a "No match" or an error charges nothing (ZoomInfo enrich docs, September 2026). You pick the fields with outputFields, and the fields available depend on your account's access, so confirm phone access before you plan around it.

Prospeo, enrich a person by name and company website.

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.prospeo.io/enrich-person" \
  -H "X-KEY: $PROSPEO_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"only_verified_email": true, "data": {"first_name": "Jane", "last_name": "Doe", "company_website": "acme.com"}}'

The response is synchronous. The only_verified_email and enrich_mobile flags control when credits are spent (Prospeo enrich docs, September 2026). Prospeo's own docs advise the bulk endpoint, up to 50 people per request, for speed.

Limits differ in shape. ZoomInfo applies three windows at once: per second, per hour and per day. A Standard plan allows 25 a second, 54,000 an hour and 648,000 a day, and a 429 comes back with Retry-After (ZoomInfo rate limits, September 2026). Prospeo caps enrich at 2,000 requests a day on Starter, 5,000 on Growth and 500,000 on Pro (Prospeo rate limits, September 2026).

Free plan API access is the one place Prospeo's own pages disagree. The pricing table shows no public API on Free, while the help center lists limited access at 50 requests a day (Prospeo pricing; Prospeo help center, September 2026). Test a free key before you plan around it.

Pricing

Prospeo is far cheaper per record on list price, but the two credits do not buy the same thing. A ZoomInfo data credit covers one company, contact or intent record. A Prospeo credit buys one verified email, and a mobile costs 10. Prices below are monthly list first, billed-yearly after.

10,000 records a month

  • ZoomInfo: 10,000 data credits sit in the $0.38 band, so 10,000 x $0.38 = $3,800. GTM AI is pay as you go with no contract. A record is charged once per 12 months, so re-enriching it inside that window costs nothing (GTM AI pricing, September 2026). The 70% first-purchase promotion is not a list price and is left out.
  • Prospeo: one Growth seat gives 5,000 credits for $99. The 5,000-credit add-on is $90. That is 10,000 credits for $189 a month. Billed yearly, 2 Growth seats at $74 give 10,000 credits a month for $148 (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).

Per record that is $0.38 against about $0.019, roughly 20 times apart, for emails only on the Prospeo side. Add mobiles and the gap narrows fast.

1M records a month

  • ZoomInfo: No public 1M price. The GTM AI slider stops at 100,000 data credits for $25,000, which is $0.25 a credit. Above that, volume goes to Enterprise sales (GTM AI pricing, September 2026). zoominfo.com/pricing returned a human check, so this page quotes no platform plan price.

Vendr reports a median of $33,500 a year across 1,574 purchases. That is a contract price, not a per-record one (Vendr, updated February 2026).

  • Prospeo: (1,000,000 - 350,000 add-on credits) / 15,000 per Pro seat = 44 seats x $249 = $10,956, plus the 350,000-credit add-on at $3,500. That is 1,010,000 credits for $14,456 a month. Billed yearly, 3 Pro seats at $2,241 plus the 500,000-credit yearly add-on at $4,500 is $11,223 once, with 1,040,000 credits upfront. For a steady 1M every month on yearly billing, 67 Pro seats at $187 a month equivalent is $12,529 a month (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).

Do not multiply a ZoomInfo rate out to 1M. The $0.38 rate is the $1,000 tier only, and the lowest published rate may not hold at 10 times the volume. Prospeo publishes nothing above 350,000 add-on credits a month or 500,000 a year, and extended pricing is enabled on request (Prospeo help center, September 2026). Unused credits expire at the end of each cycle on Prospeo. ZoomInfo's do not expire while the account is active (GTM AI docs, September 2026).

The split is simple. Below about 20,000 emails a month, Prospeo costs a few hundred dollars and ZoomInfo costs thousands, so price decides. Above 100,000, both are a sales conversation, and a quote will beat the list arithmetic.

Where ZoomInfo wins

ZoomInfo is a suite for revenue teams. It connects to CRMs, adds buyer intent, website visitor data and a sales cadence tool, and it claims the larger contact and direct dial counts (ZoomInfo Sales, September 2026). A rep team that wants one login and signals on named accounts should buy it.

Its newer GTM AI product also lowers the entry barrier. Search, lookup and find similar are free. The free tier includes API and MCP access with 1,000 data credits, and a record is charged once a year (GTM AI pricing, September 2026). That is a fair deal for an agent that browses a lot and enriches a little.

Where Prospeo wins

Prospeo is cheaper at small and medium volume, and the cost is easy to read. One verified email is 1 credit, a miss is free, and a repeat lookup within 90 days is free (Prospeo help center, September 2026). A solo user pays $49 a month for 2,000 credits.

It is also quicker to start. There is no OAuth app to register, the Chrome extension is on every plan, and the docs show a working request on one page. Prospeo is the narrower tool, and for finding contact details that is an advantage.

If you need volume through an API

LeadOcean is a people and company data API with a hosted MCP server, with no seats and no credits. Free gives 1,000 records one-off with no card, and Pro is $499 a month flat with whole-database access over REST and MCP at 100 requests per second per key. Export up to 50,000 rows per request with POST /v1/exports, and call count_leads first because counts are free. It is only the data layer, with no rep workspace, sequencer or Chrome extension, so reps who prospect all day should still use ZoomInfo or Prospeo. See pricing.

FAQ

Prospeo, by a wide margin on list price. At 10,000 records a month it is $189 against ZoomInfo's $3,800, and ZoomInfo has no public 1M price while Prospeo's is $14,456 on monthly billing. A ZoomInfo credit covers a whole record and a Prospeo credit buys one email, so compare what you need from each.

Does ZoomInfo or Prospeo have an MCP server?

Yes, both. ZoomInfo's works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Copilot, and needs a GTM AI account or a ZoomInfo subscription with data credits (ZoomInfo MCP docs, September 2026). Prospeo's is at mcp.prospeo.io with 8 tools (Prospeo MCP docs, September 2026).

Which has better phone numbers?

Neither publishes an independent accuracy rate. ZoomInfo claims 120M+ direct dials, and Prospeo charges 10 credits per mobile and prints no count. Run the same 200 contacts through both and compare the hit rate.

What are the API rate limits?

ZoomInfo allows 5 requests a second on Builder, 25 on Standard and 35 on Scaling, with hourly and daily caps (ZoomInfo rate limits, September 2026). Prospeo's enrich API allows 5 a second on Starter and Growth and 30 on Pro (Prospeo rate limits, September 2026).

Do credits roll over?

On ZoomInfo's GTM AI, credits do not expire while the account is active (GTM AI docs, September 2026). On Prospeo they expire at the end of each cycle, though its pricing page has run a variant that says otherwise (Prospeo help center, September 2026).
