ZoomInfo and RocketReach both sell B2B contact data, but they sell it to different buyers. ZoomInfo is an enterprise platform with a newer pay-as-you-go API. RocketReach is a contact finder for individual reps, with an API behind a sales contact.
Verdict
- Pick ZoomInfo if you want one platform with intent signals, org charts and a CRM-connected workflow, or if an agent needs a self-serve API with a free tier. Expect a sales process for the platform and a credit meter on the API.
- Pick RocketReach if one rep or a small team prospects by hand and wants a low monthly seat price and a Chrome extension. Its API is real, but it is capped and set up by email.
- Pick neither if you need volume through an API at a price you can read. Neither publishes a 1M-record price. LeadOcean is one option: Pro is $499 a month, flat.

Data and coverage
RocketReach claims the bigger people file, 700M+ against ZoomInfo's 500M+. ZoomInfo claims the bigger company file, 100M+ to 145M+ against 60M+. These are vendor claims, and each vendor's own pages disagree with each other.
ZoomInfo's API docs say 500M+ contacts and 100M+ companies. Its Sales page says 420M+ contacts and 145M+ companies (ZoomInfo, September 2026). RocketReach's docs give 60M+ companies in one place and 35M on the API account page.
Phone is where ZoomInfo leans. Its Sales page cites 120M+ direct dials in one paragraph and 70M+ phone numbers in another, and it publishes no accuracy rate (ZoomInfo Sales, September 2026). RocketReach publishes no phone count at all.
RocketReach does publish a deliverability grade for email. A is about 98 percent, A- about 90, B 75 to 85, and F is invalid. It charges no credit on a B or F grade, so you do not pay for weak addresses (RocketReach FAQ, September 2026). It also says 87 percent of lookups return a profile, and 99 percent when you supply a LinkedIn URL. That is its claim, not a test.
ZoomInfo adds data RocketReach does not sell: intent signals, org charts and news. Those sit behind package access, so check what your contract includes.
Neither vendor gives you a way to compare coverage on paper. Run the same 500 people through both free tiers and count the matches.
API and developer experience
ZoomInfo's API is self-serve and OAuth based. RocketReach's API is a paid add-on that you arrange by email. The shape of the calls also differs.
ZoomInfo uses OAuth 2.0 and a Bearer token on every call (ZoomInfo docs, September 2026). Search is free and enrich costs one data credit per new record. This request enriches one contact by personId. The values are placeholders and the shape follows the docs example (ZoomInfo docs, September 2026).
curl --request POST \
--url "https://api.zoominfo.com/gtm/data/v1/contacts/enrich" \
--header "authorization: Bearer $ZOOMINFO_ACCESS_TOKEN" \
--header "content-type: application/vnd.api+json" \
--data '{"data":{"type":"ContactEnrich","attributes":{"matchPersonInput":[{"personId":123456}],"outputFields":["id","email","companyName"]}}}'The payload is JSON:API and a call takes up to 25 contacts. Search pages cap at 100 results (ZoomInfo docs, September 2026).
RocketReach authenticates with an Api-Key header. Person lookup is a GET. It takes a LinkedIn URL, an email, a phone or a name plus employer (RocketReach docs, September 2026).
curl --request GET \
--url "https://api.rocketreach.co/api/v2/person/lookup?linkedin_url=www.linkedin.com/in/jane-doe" \
--header "Api-Key: $ROCKETREACH_API_KEY"The lookup can return a status of progress, so you poll or register a webhook. Bulk lookup needs a webhook and takes 100 people per batch (RocketReach docs, September 2026). Search returns at most 10,000 results per query (RocketReach FAQ, September 2026).
Limits differ in kind. ZoomInfo counts per second, per hour and per day, all at once. The Standard package gets 25 requests a second, 54,000 an hour and 648,000 a day (ZoomInfo rate limits, September 2026). RocketReach has one global limit of 10 requests a second, plus monthly caps by plan.
On MCP, both have an official server. ZoomInfo's needs a free GTM AI account or a subscription with data credits. RocketReach's uses OAuth 2.1 and needs an account with API access.
Pricing
ZoomInfo sells data credits by the purchase. RocketReach sells seats with an export allowance. Convert both to cost per record to compare.
At 10,000 records a month
For ZoomInfo's GTM AI API, 10,000 new records is 10,000 data credits. The list rate is $0.38 a credit for purchases of 2,500 to 10,000 credits, so 10,000 x $0.38 = $3,800 (GTM AI pricing, September 2026). A record is charged once per 12 months, and credits do not expire while the account is active (ZoomInfo docs, September 2026). The 70 percent first-purchase promotion is not a list price, so it is left out.
Platform plans are a different deal. They are annual contracts quoted by sales. Vendr reports a median of $33,500 a year across 1,574 purchases (Vendr, updated February 2026). zoominfo.com/pricing returned a human check, so this page quotes no platform plan price.
For RocketReach, 10,000 exports a month is 10 seats on Ultimate, which allows 1,000 exports a month at $209 on monthly billing. So 10 x $209 = $2,090 a month (reported by G2, September 2026). That is our arithmetic, not a plan RocketReach prices. Whether you can stack ten seats on self-serve is not stated.
rocketreach.co/pricing returned a bot check, so this page quotes no billed-yearly price. The monthly prices above are as G2 reports them.
The API route has no dollar price. A professional email costs 2 Universal Credits, so 10,000 emails is 20,000 credits (RocketReach credits, September 2026). RocketReach publishes no price per credit. The Pro person lookup cap is 20,000 a month, so that volume fits.
At 1M records a month
ZoomInfo: no public 1M price. One million records is 1,000,000 data credits. The slider on GTM AI stops at 100,000 credits for $25,000, which is $0.25 a credit, the lowest published rate. Above that it is Enterprise by quote (GTM AI pricing, September 2026).
RocketReach: no public 1M price. One million professional emails is 2,000,000 Universal Credits, with no dollar price published. The highest published person lookup cap is 200,000 a month, so 1M lookups is five months at the Custom tier (RocketReach rate limits, September 2026).
We do not multiply a rate out to 1M for either tool. The rates fall or the caps apply before you get there, and a made-up quote helps no one.
Where ZoomInfo wins
- Signals and structure. Intent data, org charts and news come from the same vendor. RocketReach sells none of them.
- A self-serve API with a free start. 1,000 data credits and 1,000 AI credits, no card, and API, MCP and CLI access included (GTM AI pricing, September 2026).
- Free search. Search, lookup and find similar cost no credits. You pay only to enrich or export.
- More headroom per second. 25 to 35 requests a second on paid packages, against RocketReach's 10.
Where RocketReach wins
- A low entry price for one person. $69 to $209 a month on monthly billing, reported by G2, is far below an enterprise contract.
- A bigger people claim. 700M+ professionals against 500M+.
- No charge for weak data. No credit on a B or F email grade, and none when a lookup finds nothing.
- Free re-lookups. Looking up the same profile again costs nothing while the plan is active (RocketReach FAQ, September 2026).
If you need volume through an API
We build LeadOcean, so weigh this section accordingly. LeadOcean holds 693M people and 63M companies, reachable over REST and MCP. Free is 1,000 records, one-off, with no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat, with unlimited searches and lookups and 100 requests per second per key (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).
For bulk work, POST /v1/exports returns up to 50,000 rows per request. The app also has an Exports page with a filter builder, price preview and CSV download (LeadOcean exports docs, September 2026). There is no sequencer, dialer or Chrome extension. If your reps live in ZoomInfo or RocketReach, keep them and compare the data source. See the ZoomInfo alternative page and ZoomInfo alternatives.
FAQ
Is ZoomInfo or RocketReach more accurate?
Neither publishes an independent accuracy test. RocketReach grades email A, A-, B and F and charges nothing for B or F. ZoomInfo claims verified data but gives no phone accuracy rate. Test both on 500 of your own contacts.
Does RocketReach have an API and an MCP server?
Yes to both. The API is on paid plans and set up through api@rocketreach.co. The MCP server uses OAuth 2.1 and exposes 9 tools (RocketReach MCP docs, September 2026).
Does ZoomInfo have a free plan?
The GTM AI side does: 1,000 data credits and 1,000 AI credits with no card, at 5 requests a second (GTM AI pricing, September 2026). Platform plans have no public free tier. We could not read zoominfo.com/pricing.
Which is cheaper for a single rep?
RocketReach. Essentials is $69 a month and Pro $119 on monthly billing, reported by G2. ZoomInfo platform plans are annual contracts, and Vendr reports a median of $33,500 a year (Vendr, updated February 2026).
