Findymail and Explorium both sell B2B contact data to developers, but they are different products. Findymail is an email finder: you give it a name and a company and pay one credit when it finds a verified email. Explorium is a data platform with company and prospect search, events and an MCP server, all billed in prepaid credits.
Pick Findymail for a narrow job done cleanly. Pick Explorium for breadth. Neither publishes a flat price at volume.
Verdict
- Pick Findymail if you need verified work emails from a name and a domain, plus US phone numbers, and you pay only when it finds something. A miss costs nothing.
- Pick Explorium if you need company data, events, intent filters and an MCP server that returns records. It also has a published starter price: $29.99 for 500 credits.
- Pick neither if you pull millions of records through an API and want one flat monthly price. LeadOcean is one option: Pro is $499 a month, flat.

Data and coverage
Explorium states a dataset size and Findymail does not. Explorium claims 767M+ professional profiles and 146M+ business entities. Findymail publishes no database size, because it resolves and verifies emails when you ask.
Treat the Explorium figures as marketing counts. A profile is not a mailable contact, and Explorium publishes no email or phone counts either. You cannot compare contact coverage on paper.
Email quality is stated differently. Findymail returns an email only when it is verified, and the docs say a finder credit is used only in that case. Explorium returns valid, invalid or catch-all beside each professional email, so you get unverified addresses and a label (Explorium docs, October 2026).
Phones split on geography. Findymail's phone finder says requests for EU citizens return no result, and it is documented for US numbers (Findymail API docs, September 2026). Explorium names no country limit but publishes no coverage by country.
Scope differs too. Findymail adds lead search by plain-language query and Signals for job changes. Explorium adds events such as funding rounds and hiring, with enrollments and webhooks (Explorium docs, October 2026).
Run the same 500 people through both before you commit. Compare match rate and email status.
API and developer experience
Findymail is one call per email. Explorium is two: match a person to a prospect_id, then call the contact endpoint with that ID.
Findymail uses a Bearer token. This is the Find from name request from its docs, with a placeholder person. It costs one finder credit only if a verified email comes back (Findymail API docs, September 2026).
curl --request POST "https://app.findymail.com/api/search/name" \
--header "Authorization: Bearer $FINDYMAIL_API_KEY" \
--header "Content-Type: application/json" \
--data '{"name": "Jane Doe", "domain": "acme.com"}'Explorium sends the key in an API_KEY header. The body below is priced at 2 credits for email only, after a match step that has its own cost (Explorium docs, October 2026).
curl -X POST "https://api.explorium.ai/v2/prospects/contact_information/enrich" \
-H "API_KEY: $EXPLORIUM_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"prospect_id": "PROSPECT_ID_FROM_MATCH", "parameters": {"contact_types": ["email"]}}'Rate limits use different units. Findymail allows 300 simultaneous requests on most endpoints. Explorium allows 200 queries a minute in a 60-second sliding window, and a bulk call of 50 IDs uses 50 queries. Going over returns a 429 (Explorium docs, October 2026).
On MCP both return data. Findymail's 14-tool server signs in through the browser, with a bearer token as the fallback. Explorium's AgentSource server has 11 tools and uses an API key. Its statistics tools are free, so you size an audience before you fetch (Explorium MCP docs, October 2026).
For big pulls, Explorium async jobs take up to 10,000 records per job, so 1M records is at least 100 jobs. Findymail's export tops out at 5,000 companies per search.
Pricing
Findymail is a credit meter you cannot price from outside. Explorium is a credit meter you can. To compare, price the same job on both.
Findymail charges 1 finder credit per found email and 10 per phone. Its pricing page blocks automated reading, so we state credits and no dollars. Check plan prices on Findymail's pricing page.
Explorium sells packs: Lite $29.99 for 500 credits, Starter $149.99 for 5K, Growth $749.99 for 30K and Scale $7,499.99 for 500K. Per-credit rates run from $0.06 down to $0.015 (Explorium pricing, October 2026).
At 10,000 records a month
Findymail: 10,000 emails is 10,000 finder credits, if every lookup finds one. Phones for the same list are 10,000 x 10 = 100,000 credits. Find the plan step that covers it on Findymail's pricing page.
Explorium: 10,000 emails is 10,000 x 2 = 20,000 credits. Four Starter packs give 20,000 credits, so 4 x $149.99 = $599.96. With phones at 5 credits, 50,000 credits is one Growth pack plus four Starter packs: $749.99 + $599.96 = $1,349.95.
Those Explorium figures are a floor, because the match step is not priced in the docs. Packs also expire after 12 months.
At 1M records a month
Findymail: 1,000,000 finder credits for emails, 10,000,000 for US phones. There is no public 1M price. Ask for a quote.
Explorium: 1M work emails is 2M credits. The cheapest rate is Scale at $7,499.99 per 500K, so 4 x $7,499.99 = $29,999.96 at list. With phones, 1M lookups is 5M credits, or 10 packs and $74,999.90 (Explorium pricing, October 2026).
Enterprise is a custom quote with volume discounts, so a negotiated price could be lower. At 200 queries a minute, 1M rows take 5,000 minutes, about 3.5 days.
Where Findymail wins
- You pay for results. A lookup that finds no verified email costs nothing (Findymail API docs, September 2026). Explorium does not say whether a miss costs credits.
- One call from a name and a domain. No match step before the lookup.
- A standalone verifier.
POST /api/verifychecks an email you already have for one verifier credit. - US phones with no match step. The phone finder works from a profile URL, at 10 credits per number.
- Signals. Job changes and new hires, next to the email finder (Findymail API docs, September 2026).
Where Explorium wins
- Size and breadth. 146M+ business entities and 767M+ profiles, by its own count, plus company data Findymail does not sell.
- Events and intent. Funding rounds, hiring and mergers, with enrollments and webhooks. Bombora intent filters cost 2 credits per result (Explorium MCP docs, October 2026).
- A published price at every step. You can read the cost of 500 credits or 500K before you talk to anyone.
- Waterfall enrichment. The async contact endpoint retries prospects it cannot enrich against an external provider (Explorium docs, October 2026).
- Phones with no stated country limit. Findymail's phone finder returns nothing for EU citizens.
If you need volume through an API
We build LeadOcean, so weigh this section accordingly. LeadOcean holds 693M people and 63M companies, and you reach them over REST and a 12-tool MCP server that returns records, with OAuth sign-in. Free is 1,000 records, one-off, with no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat, with unlimited searches and lookups, 100 requests per second per key and 166M people with a phone number (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).
For bulk work, POST /v1/exports returns up to 50,000 rows per request, and the app has an Exports page with a CSV download (LeadOcean exports docs, September 2026). LeadOcean has fewer companies than Explorium and no event stream. See the Findymail alternative page and Findymail alternatives for line-by-line versions.
