Prospeo finds emails and mobiles for people you name, so it wins for reps and for anyone who needs a documented API today. Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence) fills in records inside HubSpot, so it wins for HubSpot teams. At 1M records a month, Prospeo costs $14,456 at list price and Clearbit has no public price at all.
Verdict
- Pick Prospeo if you need to find a work email or a mobile for a named person, by API or in a Chrome extension. The plans are public, the API docs are open and the credit costs are published (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).
- Pick Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence) if your contacts and companies already live in HubSpot and you want them filled in automatically (HubSpot docs, September 2026).
- Pick neither if you pull people and company data by API at volume. Per-user credits and a CRM plan are both a poor fit there. LeadOcean is one option, covered below.

Data and coverage
Prospeo is a finder and Clearbit is an enricher. Prospeo takes a name and a company website and returns an email or a mobile. Clearbit takes a business email or a domain you already hold and fills in the rest of the record.
Prospeo also has a search API. It returns up to 25 results a request and carries no contact data, so you pay again to enrich the people you pick (Prospeo search docs, September 2026). Clearbit does not search for new people at all (HubSpot docs, September 2026).
On size, Prospeo's API docs claim 200M+ contacts and 30M+ companies, and its homepage counts 143M verified emails (Prospeo, September 2026). The homepage also claims 98% accuracy, which we have not tested. Clearbit publishes no count to set against that.
Clearbit's strength is company data. Its homepage lists NAICS, GICS and SIC codes, parent and subsidiary mapping, and normalized role and seniority (Clearbit, September 2026). Prospeo's strength is the contact: a verified email or a mobile for one named person.
Neither tool publishes a phone count. Run a sample of your own list through both before you commit.
API and developer experience
Prospeo has an open REST API with public docs. Clearbit has an API too, but you cannot read it without an account. You can check a Prospeo request before you sign up. You cannot check a Clearbit one.
Prospeo, enrich a person by name and company website. The key goes in the X-KEY header. Placeholders stand in for a real person.
curl -X POST "https://api.prospeo.io/enrich-person" \
-H "X-KEY: $PROSPEO_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"only_verified_email": true, "data": {"first_name": "Jane", "last_name": "Doe", "company_website": "acme.com"}}'The response is synchronous. only_verified_email and enrich_mobile control when credits are spent (Prospeo enrich docs, September 2026). Prospeo's own docs advise the bulk endpoint, up to 50 people per request, for speed.
Clearbit, no public request. Its API docs sit behind a sign-in, so we show no sample here (Clearbit docs, September 2026). Sign-ups since December 2023 need a HubSpot account (Clearbit release notes, September 2026). Inside HubSpot, enrichment is a settings switch. A Super Admin turns on automatic enrichment, and it is off by default (HubSpot docs, September 2026).
Limits differ in kind. Prospeo's depend on the plan. Enrich allows 5 requests a second on Starter and Growth and 30 on Pro, with daily caps of 2,000, 5,000 and 500,000 (Prospeo rate limits, September 2026). Clearbit publishes no rate limit.
Free plan API access is the one place Prospeo's own pages disagree. The pricing table shows no public API on Free, while the help center lists limited access at 50 requests a day (Prospeo help center, September 2026). The API docs intro says free API access for all users (Prospeo API docs, September 2026). Test a free key before you plan around it.
On MCP, Prospeo hosts a server at mcp.prospeo.io with 8 tools, and bulk enrich takes up to 25 over MCP (Prospeo MCP docs, September 2026). HubSpot's remote MCP server reads and writes CRM records such as contacts and deals. We found no MCP server for enrichment itself (HubSpot MCP, October 2026).
Pricing
Prospeo bills per user, and each seat adds credits to a shared team pool. Clearbit bills nothing of its own, because enrichment sits inside a HubSpot plan. Prospeo figures use the monthly list price first, with the billed-yearly price after it.
At 10,000 work emails a month
- Prospeo: 10,000 credits at 1 credit per email. The cheapest public mix is one Growth seat at $99 for 5,000 credits plus the 5,000-credit add-on at $90, which is $189 a month. On yearly billing, one Starter seat ($441, 24,000 credits) plus the 100,000-credit yearly add-on ($1,200) is $1,641 a year for 124,000 credits, about $137 a month (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).
- Clearbit: no per-record price. You pay the HubSpot plan, and data enrichment does not consume HubSpot Credits (HubSpot docs, September 2026). From an index page you enrich 100 records at a time, so 10,000 is 100 batches. Imports, segments and workflows take larger jobs.
At 10,000 Prospeo has a clear price and Clearbit does not. If your HubSpot plan already includes enrichment, it adds no credit bill. If not, the CRM is the cost.
At 1M work emails a month
- Prospeo: no single tier reaches 1M. The cheapest public path on monthly billing is 44 Pro seats at $249 plus the 350,000-credit add-on at $3,500. That is 44 x $249 = $10,956, plus $3,500, so $14,456 a month for 1,010,000 credits. Billed yearly, 3 Pro seats at $2,241 plus the 500,000-credit yearly add-on at $4,500 cost $11,223 once and deliver 1,040,000 credits upfront (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).
- Clearbit: No public 1M price. HubSpot publishes no per-record rate to multiply and no monthly volume ceiling to size against.
Three caveats on Prospeo. Add-ons stop at 350,000 credits a month or 500,000 a year, and anything above needs a quote from support (Prospeo help center, September 2026). Add-ons follow the plan's billing period, and switching periods removes them. Credits expire each cycle and do not roll over.
Phone numbers change the sums. At 10 credits each, 10,000 mobiles are 100,000 credits, and no single Prospeo tier sells that either.
Where Prospeo wins
- A finder that returns a verified email or a mobile for one named person, and charges only for hits.
- Public plans, public credit costs and open API docs, so you can price a project before you sign.
- Documented rate limits by plan, so you can plan capacity.
- A hosted MCP server with 8 tools and a Free plan with 100 credits a month (Prospeo MCP docs, September 2026).
- A Chrome extension for reps on every plan (Prospeo pricing, September 2026).
Where Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence) wins
- Enrichment inside HubSpot. Automatic enrichment fills new records without anyone writing code.
- Richer company data: NAICS, GICS and SIC codes and parent and subsidiary mapping (Clearbit, September 2026).
- Form shortening, so a form shows only the fields it cannot enrich (HubSpot docs, September 2026).
- No credit balance to watch when you already own a HubSpot plan.
If you need volume through an API
LeadOcean is a data API and MCP server with no seats, no credits and no CRM in front of it. Pro costs $499 a month flat, with unlimited searches, enrichments and lookups. The Free plan gives 1,000 records one-off with no card. Both plans get the same REST API and 12-tool MCP server, and POST /v1/exports returns up to 50,000 rows per request (LeadOcean exports docs, September 2026). It has no Chrome extension and does not fill HubSpot properties, so reps and HubSpot teams may still want the tools above. Compare it on a list you already know, then read the Prospeo alternative, Prospeo alternatives and pricing.
FAQ
Is Prospeo or Clearbit better for finding emails?
Prospeo. It takes a name and a company website and returns a verified email, and it charges only for hits. Clearbit enrichment starts from a business email or domain you already hold, so it fills in records and does not find new contacts (HubSpot docs, September 2026).
Is Clearbit still a separate product?
Partly. Clearbit's site says it has joined HubSpot, and new sign-ups need a HubSpot account (Clearbit release notes, September 2026). HubSpot's docs call the feature data enrichment and list it inside its hubs.
Which is cheaper, Prospeo or Clearbit?
At 10,000 emails a month Prospeo comes to $189 monthly or about $137 a month billed yearly ($1,641 a year). Clearbit has no standalone price, only the HubSpot plan, and no public 1M price. If HubSpot is already paid for, Clearbit adds little. If not, Prospeo is the clearer number.
Do both have an API and an MCP server?
Prospeo has a REST API and a hosted MCP server at mcp.prospeo.io. Clearbit documents an API behind a sign-in, and we found no enrichment MCP server. HubSpot's MCP server covers CRM records.
How do their rate limits compare?
Prospeo enrich allows 5 requests a second on Starter and Growth and 30 on Pro (Prospeo rate limits, September 2026). Clearbit publishes no rate limit, so ask HubSpot before you build on it.
How does LeadOcean compare with these two?
LeadOcean is a data API and MCP server with one flat price, $499 a month on Pro, and no seats or CRM. It does not replace Prospeo's extension or HubSpot's in-CRM enrichment. For related reading, see Prospeo vs Snov.io, Prospeo vs Kaspr and Prospeo vs Icypeas.
