Findymail and Dropcontact both find work emails and charge a credit only when they return a verified one. Findymail builds lead lists and tracks signals around that email. Dropcontact cleans and completes contacts you already hold.
Facts below were checked in September 2026, each with its source link. Where a vendor shows nothing we could read, the page says so.
Verdict
- Pick Findymail if you want verified emails from a name and domain, plus lead lists and signals. Its pricing page blocks automated reading, so check the plans yourself.
- Pick Dropcontact if you have a list to clean, your contacts are European, and you want processing on EU servers and a price slider you can read.
- Pick neither if you start from an audience, not a name list. You need filters, a free count and a fixed bill at 1M records. See the LeadOcean section below.

Data and coverage
Neither tool sells a database you browse. Coverage is a find rate on your list, and neither publishes one we could verify. Test 500 of your own rows on both.
Findymail returns a verified email or nothing. It covers more than email:
- Phones: 10 credits per number, and no result for EU citizens, for legal reasons.
- Lead lists: Intellimatch takes a plain-language query and returns up to 5,000 companies per search.
- Employees: one call returns up to 5 contacts at a company, 1 credit each.
- Verifier: a separate check at 1 verifier credit, for emails you already hold.
- Signals: job changes, new hires and keyword mentions.

Dropcontact works from what you send. It needs a first name, last name and company, or a LinkedIn URL, or an email (Dropcontact API docs, September 2026). It qualifies each address as local part plus domain, such as nominative@pro, with catch_all, generic, random and invalid as the other outcomes.
Dropcontact also returns company fields and, for French companies, SIREN data. Its pricing page says processing runs on EU-based servers and that it was audited against CNIL standards (Dropcontact pricing, September 2026). Those are its own claims.
Input shape matters more than any rate. Findymail starts from a name and a domain, or from a business profile URL. Dropcontact starts from a name plus company, a LinkedIn URL or an email. If your list is only emails to verify, Dropcontact charges 1 credit per check, and Findymail has a separate verifier pool.
Phones are thin on both sides. Dropcontact lists a mobile_phone field and publishes no coverage or credit charge for it. Findymail charges 10 credits and skips EU citizens.
API and developer experience
Both are REST APIs. Findymail answers one lookup per call. Dropcontact takes a batch and makes you collect the result.
Findymail, from its API docs, checked September 2026.
curl --request POST "https://app.findymail.com/api/search/name" \
--header "Authorization: Bearer $FINDYMAIL_API_KEY" \
--header "Content-Type: application/json" \
--data '{"name": "Jane Doe", "domain": "acme.com"}'Dropcontact, from its API docs, checked September 2026.
curl --request POST "https://api.dropcontact.com/v1/people/enrich/all" \
--header "X-Access-Token: $DROPCONTACT_API_KEY" \
--header "Content-Type: application/json" \
--data '{"data": [{"first_name": "Jane", "last_name": "Doe", "website": "acme.com"}], "language": "en"}'The Dropcontact POST returns a request_id. You then GET /v1/people/enrich/all/{request_id} until the batch is ready, or use a webhook. Not-ready replies say to retry in 30 seconds.
Findymail can also run async. Add a webhook_url and the result arrives as a callback, which the docs say can take up to 24 hours on heavy jobs.
The practical difference is the loop you write. With Findymail you send one request per person and handle a 402 when credits run out. With Dropcontact you batch up to 250 contacts, store the id and poll.
On MCP, Findymail exposes 14 tools, including phone, employees and lead lists. Dropcontact's server enriches a contact from a name and company or a LinkedIn URL, or validates an email. It does not search.
Limits differ in kind. Findymail caps concurrency at 300 simultaneous requests (Findymail API docs, September 2026). Dropcontact caps rate at 60 requests per second and returns HTTP 429 above it (Dropcontact API docs, September 2026).
Pricing
Both bill per found email, so the bill follows your hit rate. Only Dropcontact shows readable plan prices, and only at some steps.
At 10,000 emails a month
- Findymail: 10,000 finder credits if every lookup finds a verified email. Its pricing page blocks automated reading, so we quote no dollar figure. Read the step that covers 10,000 on Findymail's pricing page.
- Dropcontact: 10,000 credits if every lookup finds an email, so you need the 11,000-credit step. Starter is €199 a month, or €166 a month billed yearly. Growth is €303 a month, or €253 billed yearly (Dropcontact pricing, October 2026). That is €199 / 10,000 = about €0.02 an email on Starter.
What a credit buys differs a little. Findymail charges 1 finder credit for an email, 1 per company found, 1 to 2 for a reverse email lookup and 10 for a phone (Findymail API docs, September 2026). Dropcontact charges 1 credit per returned email or per verify-only call, and lists no charge for other fields.
Misses are free or refunded on both, so a lower hit rate uses fewer credits. Phones change the sum: 10,000 Findymail numbers is 100,000 finder credits.
At 1M emails a month
- Findymail: 1,000,000 finder credits. No public 1M price. Ask for a quote.
- Dropcontact: 1,000,000 credits. No public 1M price. The slider tops out at 150,000 credits, and Enterprise starts at 200,000 on a custom quote (Dropcontact pricing, September 2026).
We do not multiply a per-credit rate out to 1M. Neither vendor says it sells that volume at its list rate.
Free entry: Dropcontact gives 50 free credits on signup. Findymail's API page says sign-up is free, but we could not read its free-credit terms (Findymail API page, September 2026). Credits carry over on Dropcontact Growth only.
Where Findymail wins
- Lead lists. Intellimatch builds companies from a sentence. Dropcontact needs your list first.
- Signals and phones. Job changes, new hires and a phone finder sit in the same API. Dropcontact publishes no phone coverage.
- Wider agent toolset. 14 MCP tools, including a standalone verifier and exclusion lists.
- One call, one answer. No batch, no polling loop, unless you choose a webhook.
Where Dropcontact wins
- A list you already own. It cleans names, qualifies each email and adds company data in one pass.
- EU processing. Its pricing page states EU-based servers and a CNIL audit. Findymail makes no matching statement in the docs we read.
- Readable prices. Every slider step is on the page, from €29 a month for 500 credits to €199 for 11,000 on Starter. Findymail's pricing page blocks automated reading.
- Connectors and file work. HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zapier, Make, n8n and Google Sheets, plus CSV file drops (Dropcontact, September 2026).
If you need volume through an API
Neither tool is built to pull a million records from a filterable database. LeadOcean holds 693M people and 63M companies behind one REST API and a 12-tool MCP server. Pro costs $499 a month, flat, with no credits and no per-record price, and Free gives 1,000 records one-off with no card. POST /v1/exports returns up to 50,000 rows per request, so 1M rows is 20 calls over two days (LeadOcean exports docs, September 2026). It is not a name-and-company cleaner: you search by domain first, then enrich by person_id. See LeadOcean pricing.
FAQ
Is Findymail or Dropcontact better for finding emails?
Findymail suits outbound teams that find leads from scratch. Dropcontact suits teams that clean and complete a list they hold. Both charge only for a verified result, so test both on 500 of your own rows.
Which is cheaper, Findymail or Dropcontact?
Findymail's pricing page blocks automated reading, so we quote no Findymail price. Dropcontact opens at €29 a month for 500 credits, and 11,000 credits are €199 a month on Starter. At 1M emails neither publishes a price.
Do both have an API and an MCP server?
Yes. Findymail has a Bearer-token REST API and an MCP server with 14 tools. Dropcontact has one batch endpoint and an MCP server that enriches a contact or validates an email.
Which one has phone numbers?
Both list a phone field, with gaps. Findymail charges 10 credits per number and returns nothing for EU citizens. Dropcontact publishes no phone coverage. LeadOcean holds 166M people with a phone number.
Do they charge for contacts they cannot find?
No. Findymail charges a finder credit only when a verified email is found. Dropcontact refunds the credit when no email is found (Dropcontact API docs, September 2026). A verify-only call costs 1 credit on both.
Is there a cheaper way to get 1M records?
If you can start from filters, yes. LeadOcean Pro is $499 a month flat, and counts are free. Read Findymail alternatives and the Findymail alternative page.
