LeadMagic is the better fit for code, agents and mobile numbers. Dropcontact is the better fit for European contacts, CRM cleaning and a verified email from a name and company. Past 150,000 lookups a month, neither publishes a price.
Verdict
- Pick LeadMagic if engineers or agents need work emails, mobiles and people search from one API or MCP server. It is cheaper from about 20,000 credits a month and sells a documented mobile finder at 5 credits (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026).
- Pick Dropcontact if your contacts are in Europe, you clean a CRM, or you need native HubSpot, Pipedrive or Salesforce sync. It is cheaper to start, from €29 a month, and credits carry over on Growth (Dropcontact pricing, October 2026).
- Pick neither if you search for people by filter and pull millions of records through an API at a fixed bill. LeadOcean is flat at $499 a month, covered below.

Data and coverage
The two tools are built differently. LeadMagic is a database-backed enrichment layer with search on top. Dropcontact finds and verifies an email from a name and a company, and holds no contact database of its own.
LeadMagic states 400M+ people, 25M+ companies and 46M+ job posts on its homepage (LeadMagic, September 2026). Dropcontact says it operates only with algorithms and does not use contact databases (Dropcontact pricing, October 2026). There is no size to compare, and nothing to filter or count on the Dropcontact side.
Neither publishes an email find rate. Dropcontact ran a benchmark of 15 tools on 20,000 contacts, split 9,800 US and 9,700 European, with only first name, last name and company as input. It reports an effective rate of 54.9% for itself and 22.6% for LeadMagic (Dropcontact benchmark, October 2026). Dropcontact funded and ran the test, so treat it as a vendor claim.
LeadMagic makes its own claims. Its comparison page says Dropcontact's US match rate falls below 50% and that Dropcontact gives no phone numbers, and cites no test for either (LeadMagic, October 2026). Dropcontact's docs do list phone and mobile_phone response fields, though coverage and plan rules for phones are not published.
Run 200 of your own contacts through both before you commit. Include your US and European split, because that is where the vendors disagree.
API and developer experience
LeadMagic answers in one call. Dropcontact takes a batch, then you fetch the result. Placeholders below stand in for real people.
LeadMagic, find a work email from a name and domain.
curl -X POST "https://api.leadmagic.io/v1/people/email-finder" \
-H "X-API-Key: $LEADMAGIC_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"first_name":"Jane","last_name":"Doe","domain":"acme.com"}'The response carries the email, a status of valid and credits_consumed. A miss comes back as null and spends nothing (LeadMagic docs, September 2026). The finder takes 600 requests a minute (LeadMagic docs, September 2026).
Dropcontact, enrich a person from a name and company website.
curl -X POST "https://api.dropcontact.com/v1/people/enrich/all" \
-H "X-Access-Token: $DROPCONTACT_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"data":[{"first_name":"Jane","last_name":"Doe","website":"acme.com"}],"language":"en"}'That call returns a request_id. You then GET /v1/people/enrich/all/{request_id} until the data is ready, or pass a custom_callback_url and receive a webhook (Dropcontact API docs, October 2026). One request holds up to 250 contacts, and the limit is 60 requests a second.
Both have an MCP server. LeadMagic states 130+ tools and accepts OAuth sign-in only, with no static API key (LeadMagic MCP, October 2026). Dropcontact's tools enrich a contact from a name and company or a LinkedIn URL, or validate an email. It accepts OAuth or a bearer token (Dropcontact API docs, October 2026).
LeadMagic also has people, company and job search over the same API. Dropcontact starts from a contact you already hold and does not search.
Pricing
Both sell credits and charge for results, so cost grows with volume. The worked examples assume work emails only, one credit each, every lookup a hit. Prices are monthly list first, billed-yearly after. Dropcontact prices are in euros and LeadMagic prices in dollars, and no conversion is applied.
10,000 records a month
- LeadMagic: 10,000 credits needs Growth, $249 a month for 20,000 credits. Billed yearly it is $208 a month ($2,490 a year). Unused credits roll over on monthly plans, up to 2x the allocation (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026).
- Dropcontact: 10,000 credits fits the 11,000-credit tier. Starter is €199 a month, or €166 a month billed yearly for 132,000 credits a year. Growth is €303, or €253 billed yearly (Dropcontact pricing, October 2026).
At 10,000 emails Dropcontact Starter costs less in nominal terms. A real hit rate below 100% leaves credits unspent on both tools.
20,000 to 100,000 records a month
- LeadMagic: Growth is $249 for 20,000 credits ($0.01245 a credit). Ultimate is $849 for 100,000 credits ($0.00849 a credit) (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026).
- Dropcontact: the 22,000-credit tier is €399, and the 100,000-credit tier is €1,499 on Starter, or €1,249 billed yearly (Dropcontact pricing, October 2026).
From about 20,000 credits LeadMagic is the cheaper list price, before any currency conversion.
1M records a month
- LeadMagic: no public 1M price. The top self-serve plan is Ultimate, $849 a month for 100,000 credits. Top-up prices are not published, and Enterprise starts at $2,490 a quarter with no per-credit price (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026).
- Dropcontact: no public 1M price. The top self-serve tier is 150,000 credits, €2,245 on Starter and €3,652 on Growth. Enterprise starts at 200,000 credits a month on a custom quote (Dropcontact pricing, October 2026).
We do not multiply a rate out to 1M, because neither vendor sells that plan. At 1M a month, ask both for a quote. One price check: LeadMagic's comparison page says Dropcontact starts at €79 for 500 credits, while the pricing page shows €29 for 500 and €79 for 4,000.
Where LeadMagic wins
LeadMagic is cheaper at volume and covers more of the job. It has a documented mobile finder at 5 credits, people, company and job search, and one-call answers instead of a batch and a poll. Search in the app costs no credits on any paid plan (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026).
It is also easier to wire into agents. The MCP server states 130+ tools (LeadMagic MCP, October 2026), and Professional and Ultimate get zero-credit search over the API. Credits roll over on monthly plans, up to 2x the allocation (LeadMagic pricing, September 2026).
Where Dropcontact wins
Dropcontact is cheaper to start and stronger for European data. Starter opens at €29 for 500 credits, against $99 for 5,000 at LeadMagic, and 50 free credits let you test first (Dropcontact pricing, October 2026).
It processes data on EU-based servers and says it was audited by the CNIL. It also returns French company identifiers such as SIREN and NAF codes. Growth adds company change detection, and native CRM sync for HubSpot, Pipedrive and Salesforce is a separate subscription (Dropcontact pricing, October 2026). In its own benchmark it posts the higher effective rate, which is a vendor claim worth testing.
If you need volume through an API
LeadOcean is a people and company data API with a hosted MCP server and no credits. Free gives 1,000 records one-off with no card, and Pro is $499 a month flat for the whole database over REST and MCP. Export up to 50,000 rows per request with POST /v1/exports, and call count_leads first because counts are free. It does not clean a CRM list or find an email from a name and company in one call: you search by domain, then enrich by person_id. See pricing.
