Cognism vs Findymail

Cognism vs Findymail (2026): Data, Pricing and API Compared

One is a quote-only sales platform with phone-verified mobiles. The other is an email finder that charges a credit per verified email. Here is who should pick which, and what each costs at 10,000 and 1M records.

Cognism is a sales intelligence platform sold by quote. Findymail is an email finder that charges one credit per verified email. Cognism wins for teams that dial phone-verified mobiles. Findymail wins for outbound teams that need verified emails and a self-serve API key.

Every figure below was checked in September 2026, with its source link. Where a vendor publishes nothing, the page says so.

Verdict

  • Pick Cognism if your reps phone prospects all day and you want mobiles Cognism has verified, Do Not Call cross-referencing and intent data on the Pro package. Expect a sales call, a quote and an API that needs a package that includes it.
  • Pick Findymail if you need verified work emails in a sequencer, you pay only for emails it finds and you want an API token from the dashboard. It is a finder, not a database you filter.
  • Pick neither if you need one flat price at volume. Cognism publishes no price, and this page quotes no Findymail dollar figure. LeadOcean is one option.

Data and coverage

The two are different products, so the coverage numbers do not line up. Cognism says it holds "hundreds of millions" of company and contact profiles. Its own FAQ adds that it does not usually make general coverage claims (Cognism FAQ, September 2026).

Findymail publishes no record count at all. It does not keep a list you browse. It finds an email when you ask and returns it only if the address verifies (Findymail docs, September 2026).

Phones are where they differ most. Cognism claims 10M+ phone-verified contacts, on-demand verification in under 48 hours and Do Not Call cross-referencing in 15 territories (Cognism Diamond Data, September 2026). Findymail's phone endpoint finds a number from a LinkedIn profile URL and returns US numbers only. It returns nothing for EU citizens (Findymail docs, September 2026).

For a European dial list, that settles it. Cognism is built for it and Findymail is not.

Findymail also has no structured search. Intellimatch takes a plain-language query such as "SaaS companies in US with 50-200 employees" and returns up to 5,000 companies per task. Cognism's people search schema has 13 person filter fields and 21 company filter fields (Cognism API reference, September 2026).

Run the same 500 people through both before you buy. Neither vendor publishes a match rate, so your own list is the only coverage number that counts.

API and developer experience

Both are REST APIs with an MCP server. Findymail answers one question per call: whose email is this? Cognism searches people by filter and returns pages of records.

Findymail's email finder is POST /api/search/name. It takes a name and a company domain, and costs one finder credit only if a verified email is found (Findymail docs, September 2026). The request, with a placeholder person:

bash
curl --request POST "https://app.findymail.com/api/search/name" \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $FINDYMAIL_API_KEY" \
  --header "Content-Type: application/json" \
  --data '{"name":"Jane Doe","domain":"acme.com"}'

Cognism uses OAuth 2.0 client credentials from Settings, M2M Connect. Access tokens last 20 minutes, so your code has to refresh them (Cognism authentication, September 2026). Search returns 1 to 100 records a page. Add view=contacts to reveal emails and phones, at one credit per person (Cognism reference, September 2026).

bash
curl --request POST \
  --url 'https://api.cognism.com/persons/filter?limit=10' \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $COGNISM_ACCESS_TOKEN" \
  --header 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  --data '{"person":{"jobTitle":{"include":["VP Sales"],"match":"ONCE"}}}'

If you hold names and domains, Findymail fits with no prior step and a static token. If you build lists from filters, Cognism's search is the closer match.

Access differs too. Findymail's token is in the dashboard. Cognism says API and MCP access need a package that includes it (Cognism authentication, September 2026).

On agents, both host an MCP server. Cognism's has 15 tools: people and company search and count, eight dictionary lookups and three settings tools. Findymail's has 14, including find_email, find_phone, verify_email and generate_lead_list. A lookup that finds nothing is free on Findymail (Findymail Cursor plugin, September 2026).

Limits shape how each scales. Cognism allows 500 requests a minute per account, counted separately for search, count and dictionary calls (Cognism rate limits, September 2026). Findymail caps concurrency instead: 300 simultaneous requests by default, but 5 for find from domain and 30 for business profile.

Pricing

Cognism has no price to compare. Findymail has a credit meter you can count, so the sums below stop at credits. Map them to a plan on Findymail's pricing page.

At 10,000 records a month. Findymail charges 1 finder credit per verified email found. 10,000 emails is 10,000 credits if every lookup hits, and fewer if some miss, because misses are free. 10,000 phones is 10,000 x 10 = 100,000 credits, for US numbers only (Findymail docs, September 2026).

Cognism publishes no price per plan, seat or credit. Its pricing page says pricing is tailored to product, team setup and usage (Cognism pricing, September 2026). One credit reveals one contact, and each seat includes an allocation whose size is not published. Ask for a written quote.

At 1M records a month. Cognism has no public 1M price. 1,000,000 revealed contacts is 1,000,000 credits, and there is no list price to multiply. The highest public tier is Pro with 5 seats, quote only.

Findymail at 1M is 1,000,000 finder credits for emails, or 10,000,000 for phones. Ask Findymail for a written price at that volume. We do not multiply a small plan's rate out to 1M.

Time matters at 1M too. At 100 records a page and 500 requests a minute, 1,000,000 / 100 = 10,000 search calls, about 20 minutes on Cognism. That is search only, before token and credit allowances.

Findymail publishes no per-minute limit, so we cannot do the same sum. Check the current plans on Findymail's pricing page.

Where Cognism wins

  • Phone-verified mobiles. Cognism claims 10M+ phone-verified contacts. Findymail returns US numbers only (Cognism Diamond Data, September 2026).
  • Do Not Call checks. Cognism says it cross-references Do Not Call lists in 15 territories, which matters if your reps cold-call.
  • Structured search. 13 person filter fields and 21 company filter fields, with cursor paging to 100,000 records per journey (Cognism pagination, September 2026).
  • Intent data. Pro adds Bombora Company Surge intent, with up to 12 topics (Cognism pricing, September 2026).

Cognism's weak points are the missing price, the missing coverage counts and API access that depends on your package.

Where Findymail wins

  • Pay on success. A lookup that finds no verified email costs nothing (Findymail docs, September 2026). Your bill tracks your hit rate.
  • Self-serve access. Sign up, copy a token and call the API. There is no quote and no package check.
  • A standalone verifier. POST /api/verify checks any address for one verifier credit, from a separate pool.
  • Cost guardrails for agents. The Cursor plugin states the maximum cost and asks before any run that can spend more than 25 credits (Findymail Cursor plugin, September 2026).

Findymail's weak points are the 10-credit phone, US-only numbers and no structured people search.

If you need volume through an API

We build LeadOcean, so weigh this section accordingly. It has a free plan with 1,000 records, one-off, no card. Pro is $499 a month, flat, with unlimited searches, enrichments and lookups, and no credits or per-record price (LeadOcean pricing, September 2026).

It holds 693M people, 366M with an email and 166M with a phone number, plus 63M companies. REST and a hosted MCP server with 12 tools run on every plan, at 100 requests per second per key (LeadOcean MCP docs, September 2026).

For bulk pulls, POST /v1/exports returns up to 50,000 rows per request, or you can use the Exports page in the app. 1M rows is 20 requests over two days (LeadOcean exports docs, September 2026). LeadOcean has no sequencer or dialer, so it does not replace a rep's calling workflow. See pricing for the detail.

FAQ

Is Cognism cheaper than Findymail?

Nobody can say from public pages. Cognism publishes no price, so there is nothing to set against Findymail's plans. Get a Cognism quote at your volume and compare it with the Findymail plan that covers your credits (Findymail pricing).

Does Findymail have an API and an MCP server?

Both. The REST API uses a Bearer token and allows 300 concurrent requests by default (Findymail docs, September 2026). The MCP server has 14 tools and signs in through the browser or a bearer token (Findymail Cursor plugin, September 2026).

Does Cognism have an API?

Yes. It is a REST API with OAuth 2.0 client credentials, and it needs a package that includes API access (Cognism authentication, September 2026). Search returns up to 100 records a page, with cursor paging up to 100,000 records per journey.

Which has better phone data?

Cognism, if you dial. It claims 10M+ phone-verified contacts (Cognism Diamond Data, September 2026). Findymail returns US numbers only, at 10 credits each, and nothing for EU citizens (Findymail docs, September 2026).

What does 1M records a month cost on each?

This page quotes no 1M price for either. Cognism sells by quote. Findymail's 1M is 1,000,000 finder credits, so ask it for a written quote.

Do I have to choose one?

No. They do different jobs. A team can source and dial from Cognism and run a Findymail check on emails it holds, since a verifier call costs one verifier credit (Findymail docs, September 2026).
